Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in the national economy by contributing 61% of total GDP and absorbing 97% of Indonesia's total workforce. Various efforts are made to empower MSMEs including export-oriented MSMEs. MSME empowerment is carried out by the central government and local governments in accordance with Law No. 20/2008. Empowerment is carried out because there are several obstacles in MSME exports. One of the regional MSMEs that has successfully exported officially is PT Mond Nature Lestari (Dapur Aru) after receiving assistance and empowerment from various parties. This research uses a qualitative method, by collecting primary data by interviewing MSMEs and government institutions and secondary data from several books, journal articles and websites. This research uses the theoretical framework of the role of government in encouraging MSMEs to export. This paper shows that the role of government in encouraging MSMEs to export has a division at each administrative level. The central government and local governments have their respective roles where the local government prepares and the central government processes. This research indicates that the Dapur Aru export process is assisted by the Riau Province Office of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs. The Dapur Aru export process is a combination of central and regional empowerment programs. The use of the theoretical framework of the role of government in encouraging export MSMEs to the export process is correlative to the resolution of export constraints faced by MSMEs. Abstract

China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a collaboration officially agreed by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping on April 20, 2015. For Pakistan, this collaboration is an opportunity to resolve existing challenges, such as the energy crisis, but also a golden opportunity to become a regional economic center. However, behind the expected benefits of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), this project has also caused serious social problems, namely cases of bride trafficking, where human trafficking involves Pakistani women who are forced to marry Chinese men and experience difficult living conditions, become victims of abuse, forced prostitution, and some are victims of organ sales in China. In this case, the study wants to find out why the Pakistani government took action to cover up the bride trafficking cases that occurred. This study uses a qualitative research method, with library research data collection techniques. Documents are sourced from books, international and national journals, official government and non-government documents, as well as news and press releases of activities. Data is also enriched with journals and official websites of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and websites that are directly related to the research object. The study showed that the reason the Pakistani government covered up the bride trafficking case in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was not only an effort to protect diplomatic relations with China, but also driven by broader economic and social interests. Where these interests have a very positive impact on the country and society of Pakistan. This decision reflects the priority of the Pakistani government in pursuing economic development and social welfare, despite having to face criticism and challenges related to human rights issues. Abstract

Commercial sexual exploitation of children still frequently occurs in the world, particularly in Thailand. The extremely high level of vulnerability has drawn the attention of international organizations to take preventive measures. One international organization actively addressing the issue of child sexual exploitation is End Child Prostitution and Trafficking (ECPAT). This study elaborates on the important role of ECPAT in dealing with issues related to child exploitation practices. This research utilizes Civil Society Organization (CSO) theory to analyze the role of ECPAT in addressing the issue of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) in Thailand. The research method used is qualitative with an analytical descriptive model. Secondary data is obtained through a literature review from various sources, including books, academic journals, official websites, and annual reports from relevant organizations. ECPAT plays three key roles in preventing child sexual exploitation in Thailand. First, as an educator, ECPAT provides education on the dangers of sexual exploitation in schools. Second, as an agenda setter, ECPAT researches new trends and designs preventive policies. Third, as a counterpart, ECPAT collaborates with private institutions, NGOs, INGOs, and the government to strengthen efforts in the prevention and handling of CSEC cases. This study demonstrates that ECPAT has effectively implemented its programs despite facing significant challenges. With strong commitment, ECPAT has played a crucial role in reducing the incidence of commercial sexual exploitation of children in Thailand in 2019.
