Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the effect of interaction between goat’s urine and bokashi fertilizer, and to get the decent dosagein the growth of cocoa seeds. This research was conducted at the experimental station of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University, from september 2016 to january 2017, factorial by using completely randomized design (CRD) method, 3 replicarions, which consist of two factors. The first factor, goat’s urine dosage consisted of 3 levels (0, 50, and 100 ml/polybag) and the second factor, bokashi fertilizer dosage, consisted 3 levels (0, 50 and 100 g/polybag).The parameters observed were seedling height, leaf number, stem diameter, root volume, leaf area, plants dry weight, and  the shoot to root ratio. Observationts of each parameter were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and Duncan's new multiple range test (DNMRT) level of 5%. The results show that the interactionbetween goat’s urine and bokashi fertilizer has no significant effect on all parameters, and the goat’s urine dosage of (50-100) ml/polybag and bokashi fertilizer dosage of(50-100) g/polybag is thedecent dosage to increase the all parameters. Abstract

This study aims to determine the strategy for the prevention of forest fires and land based on public perception in the village of Dayun Siak district.  The method used in this research is purposive sampling method. Data analysis using analysis of percentage and SWOT analysis. The result showed that the forest fires and land frequently occur are influenced by social conditions like cultural society that opening land by burning which is still often done and majority of people’s livelihoods as farmers. Forest fire prevention effort and land that has been done by the people of the village of Dayun which is liaising with the parties or institutions in the prevention of forest fires and land. Based on the SWOT analysis, strategies prevention of the forest fires and land based on public perception is improving the skills of community through community care of fire, improving the facilities and infrastructure of the forest and land fires prevention for communities and strict law enforcement to arsonists forest and land.Keywords: Perception, Prevention, Forest fire and land

Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of various Trichocompost doses to control the virus complex disease and to improve the growth and yield of tomato plants. Research has been conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology and Experimental Field Screen House, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau for five months from May to September 2016. The research was conducted experimentally, arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 6 treatments (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 g/plant) and 4 replications. Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance and the means of each treatment was compared by using Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. Results indicated that trichocompost with various doses significantly affected on the first disease symptom appearance and the plant height. Application of trichocompost at dose of 100 g/plant give a better ability to inhibit the first disease symptom appearance, increasing the growth and yield of tomato.Keywords: Trichocompost, Trichoderma sp., complex virus, tomato

Abstract

The research aims to observe and to find the best concentration of wild betel leaf powder extract to control cocoa pod disease caused by Phytophthora palmivora Butl. The research had been conducted from October to December 2015 at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design consisting of 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were:   0, 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 g wild betel leaf powder/L water. The parameters observed were : colony diameter of P. palmivora, inhibition percentage on P. palmivora colony diameter, incubation period of the disease, intensity of the disease and effectiveness and ability level of powder extract of wild betel leaf on the disease as botanical fugicide. Data were analyzed  statistically using by ANOVA, except for the parameters of effectiveness and ability level of fungicide was analyzed descriptively. To compare the mean of treatments with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level was used. The results showed that the concentrations of wild betel leaf powder extract could inhibit the growth ofP. palmivora and control cocoa fruit disease. Concentration of wild betel leaf powder at 200 and 250 g / L water gave a better ability to control P. palmivora andcocoa pod disease because they caused a smaller intensity of  disease which were 45,71 % and 46.25%. Key words : Cocoa Fruit, P. palmivora , concentration of Piper aduncum L. leaf powder.

Abstract

This research aimed at discovering the optimum concentration of crude extracts of pineapple as natural latex coagulant and determining the effect of crude extracts of bromelain enzyme on the quality of coagulum produced. The research was mainly conducted at the Laboratory of PT. Riau Crumb Rubber Factory, in May and July 2016. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD). The design consists of 6 treatments of coagulant substance with 3 times repetitions with the result that 18 experimental units were gathered. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and were they found significant, Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5% was further used. The results of the study showed that the optimum concentration obtained is by adding K2 (1,5% crude extracts of pineapple with enzymes activated). The addition of complete enzyme crude extract of pineapple proved to significantly affect the pH value, dry rubber content, ash content, dirt content, however the values of Po and PRI.Keywords: coagulant, bromelain enzymes, pineapple

Abstract

Macaca nemestrina is one of the short tailed primates that vulnerable in the IUCN list and inserted in appendix II of CITES. Macaca nemestrina in habitat have a major role in protecting and preserving the balance of ecosystem. The results showed that the number of the Macaca nemestrina population in the Arboretum UR is 40 individual. Each has a number based on social status in an adult male 4 individual, 6 individual adult female, male adolenscents 8 individual, female adolenscents 12 individual and children 10 individual. The time allocation of daily activity for each individual Macaca nemestrina is rested activity 1.144,21 (31,78%) minutes, migrated activity 1.047,82 (29,11%) minutes, eat activity 851,61 (23,66%) minutes, grooming 419,03(1,64%) minutes and social interaction 137,33(3,81%). Observations availibility of Macaca nemestrina feed types based on the analysis of vegetation found 18 species of poles and 20 species of trees. The results of the analysis of vegetation poles and trees explained that are many available types of macaca nemestrina food resources. The results of the analysis of vegetation at the level of the pole and the tree indicates there are 8 types that dominated at the growth level. from  8 species that dominated there are 7 types of poles and 6 types of trees level that become the food source  Macaca nemestrina. Keyword : Macaca nemestrina, population, activity, feed

Abstract

This study aimed to get the best formulation of substitution of wheat flour with okaraflour in making of cookies containing red palm oil, judging from the content of nutrients and organoleptic tests based on SNI 01-2973-1992. The research was conducted with an experimental method using a completely randomized design with four treatments and four replications. The treatment in this study were ratio of wheat flour and okara flour 100%:0%, 75%:25%, 50%:50%, and 25%:75%. Data were statistically analyzed by using Analysis of Variance and followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test at level5%.Results of the analysis showed that ratio of wheat flourand okara flour significantlyaffected on moisture, ash, protein,and crude fiber content as well as descriptive and hedonic sensory test of the cookies. Based on this research, the best treatment wasratio of wheat flourand okara flour 75%:25% which hadmoisture 2.37%, ash 1.62%, protein 6.21%,and crude fiber content 3.80%.Characteristics cookies of best treatment based on descriptive test was  golden yellow color, rather beany flavor, rathertofu tasteless, and crunchy texture. Keywords: Cookies, okara flour, wheat flour, red palm oil.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are : 1) wisdom is still no longer be maintained by farmers in rice farming in Kuantan Tengah District of Kuantan Singingi Regency, and why it was and is not maintained anymore. 2) Knowing how importance and strength of wisdom of rice farming in Kuantan Tengah District of Kuantan Singingi Regency 3) Knowing how the motivation of farmers in rice farming wisdom based on river basin areas. The survey method was used in the research by population of respondents were 313 samples from Sawah Taluk and Pulau Aro village. The sampling technique was using Snowball Sampling. In terms of analyzing the data are Descriptif, Diagram Kartesius, and Scale of Liker's Summated Rating. The Result showed that number of wisdom in Sawah Taluk  and Pulau Aro  Village  is totaled 38 wisdom that still exists and is not retained, as many as 22 wisdom that used to exist and as many as 16 wisdom is not maintained. Importance and strength of wisdom there are 22 that are considered to have the  and interests of rice farmers in the watershed (DAS) is still there. Based on the results of the Likert's motivation Internal Farmers Against Wisdom got an average rating of 3.02, which means quite good, while based on the results of the Likert's external motivation Farmers Against Wisdom got an average rating of 2.98, which means quite good. Keywords: Motivation, Farmer,Wisdom

Abstract

Dahlia plant is one ornamental plant that has tuber with carbohydrate such as inulin. The aimed of this research to determine the effect of time storage in room temperature to dahlia tuber’s chemical contents. This research executed by experimentally using Complete Randomized Design with five treatments and three repetitionswhich followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The observation where with P1 (control), P2 (dahlia plant storaged in 7 days), P3 (dahlia plant storaged in 14 days), P4 (dahlia tuber storaged in 21 days), and P5 (dahlia plant storaged in 28 days). The observation result,the dahlia tuber that stored at room temperature for 28 days has lost weight 13,89%, water content 7,99%, ash content 0,53%, crude fiber3,08%, and inulin 20,54%. Mean while, sugarreduction has been increasing amount 3,58. Keywords:Inulin, dahlia tuber, time storaged.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of the concentration of coconut water as a natural plant growth regulators in accelerating growth and getting the best concentration on growth of rubber budded stump for several clones. This research conducted  experiments using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors. The first factor is the clones (K) consisting of three clones, namely PB 260, GT 1 and IRR 39. The second factor is the concentration of coconut water (A), which consists of four levels is without the application of coconut water, coconut water concentration of 25%, 50% and 75%. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple range test at 5% level. The results showed that the main factor clones and provision of coconut water concentration significantly affected to parameters grow buds, plant height, stem diameter, but does not affect to number of leaves of rubber budded stump. There is interaction between clones with the application of coconut water concentration to parameter grow buds, but do not interact on other parameters. Rubber clones PB 260 and GT 1 have the better growth than rubber clone IRR 39. Application of coconut water concentration of 50% and 75% on PB 260 and GT 1, and the application of coconut water concentration of 25% and 50% on IRR 39 hadbetter in increasing the time of grow buds, plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves of rubber budded stump.
