Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction of organic manure and N, P and K fertilizeron the growth and production of onion as well as getting the best dosage. This research has been carried out in the garden Experimental Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from March to May 2016. The study consists of two factors, the first factor that manure with a dosage of 10 ton/ha, 20 ton/ha and 30 ton/ha. The second factor is urea, TSP and KCl which consists of three levels without treatment Urea, TSP and KCl, 1/4 the recommended dosage, Urea        125 kg/ha + TSP 50 kg/ha + KCl 50 kg/ha and 1/2 recommended dosage, Urea 250 kg/ha + TSP 100 kg/ha + KCl 100 kg/ha, which is arranged in a randomized block design (RAK). From these two factors obtained 9 treatment combinations, each treatment was repeated 4 times, thus obtained 36 experimental units. Observation Data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA, the results of variance followed by using Duncan's multiple range test at 5% level. The parameters measured were the number of leaves, number of tubers per hill, convolution bulb, tuber fresh weight per plant, tuber fresh weight per plot and weights shelf per plot. Data results shows that the best results using cow manure dosage of 30 ton/ha and urea 250 kg/ha, TSP 100 kg/ha, KCl 100 kg/ha.Keywords: Onion, Cow Manure, Fertilizer TSP and KCl

Abstract

The aimed of research was studied the effect of application of organik and KCl for growth and yield of purple sweet potato and get the best treatment combination. This research has been conducted in the experimental garden of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Jalan Bina Widya, Baru Simpang Village, District Tampan, Pekanbaru.in August 2016 until November 2016. This research using Factorial Random Design (FRD) Factorial consisting of two factors. The first factor is the provision of organic fertilizer. cattle manure, forage of gliricidia sepium, and compost of empty palm oil bunch (OPEBC,) of 10 ton/ha. The second factor is the dosage of KCl fertilizer consisting of 4 levels: K0: Without KCl, K1: 50 kg/ha, K2: 100 kg/ha, K3: 150 kg/ha.The research parameters were stem length, number of primary branch, stem length, tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight/plant, fresh tuber weight/m2, tuber number/plot and yield index. The data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and continued with Duncansfurther Test at 5% level. The results showed that organic fertilizer and KCl fertilizer had significant effect on tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight/plant, fresh tuber weight/m2, tuber number/plot, yield index, and no significant effect on stem length, number of primer/plant branch and length tuber, Provision of composted fertilizer OPEBC 10 ton/ha and KCl 100 kg/ha fertilizer can increase the growth and yield of sweet potato crops. Keywords: Purple sweet potato, forage of gliricidia sepium, organic fertilizers

Abstract

Harvesting of community timber is part of community forest management.Harvesting behavior is caused by harvesting motivation arising from the urgent need of life. Farmers will harvest crops if they are considered to be profitable even though they are not yet ripe, such as the cost of education, health costs, and other needs that exist in farm households in Lumban Silintong Village.The aim of this research was toidentify the characteristics of smallholder forest farmers in Lumban Silintong Village and to find out the motivation of harvesting of community timber in Lumban Silintong Village. Sampling method using porposive sampling.Data processing method used is descriptive method. Based on the result of the research, it can be seen that the characteristics of smallholder forest farmers in Lumban Silintong Village who have used the dominant wood harvesting in the age group of 15-64 years as many as 31 people (77.50%) belong to the productive age, Senior High School as many as 23 people (57.50%), with experience trying to farm for 31-40 years as many as 11 people (27.50%). Smallholder forest farmers in Lumban Silintong Village are harvesting timber with various motivations, the most dominant people harvesting motivation is education cost motivation. Keywords: Harvesting of community timber, harvesting motivation, farmer characteristics.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of pod husks compost on plant growth of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Has not produced the age of 2 years as well as to get the best dose for the growth of palm trees age of 2 years. This study was conducted over five months, namely from March 2015 to July 2016. The research was conducted in the garden of palm Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Campus Bina Widya Km 12.5 Baru Simpang Village, District Handsome, Pekanbaru. This study uses a randomized complete block design (RAK) non factorial consisting of six treatment that without treatment; Award KKBK 3.67 kg/plant; Award KKBK 7.35 kg/plant; Award KKBK 11.1 kg/plant; Award KKBK 14.7 kg/plant; Award KKBK 18.3 kg/plant and each treatment was repeated 3 times so that each experimental unit obtained 18 experimental units. The parameters measured were the increase of plant height, girth increase, the increase of the length midrib and leaf child. Based on the results of research to get the growth of oil palm plantations tend to be better at giving compost pod husks dose of 18.3 kg / plant. Keywords:Palm Oil, compost, cocoa Fruit Leather

Abstract

This research aims to know the right dose about effect interaction between compost (male flowers) and NPK fertilizer for the growth of palm oil nursery in main nursery. This research was conducted in September to January 2018. The research method used is complete randomized design (RAL) with two factors, fisrt factor are compost which have four taraf such dose 60 g/polybag, 120 g/polybag, 180 g/polybag, 240 g/polybag and second factor NPK fertilizer with two taraf such as 5 g/plant and 10 g/plant. This study aims to improve plant growth, number of leaves, diameter of the cork, volume akar, rasio tajuk akar and berat kering bibit. Result of this study showed that application between compost and NPK fertilizer showed significanly effect  to plant growth but didn’t effect to number of leaves, diameter of the cork, root volume, root canopy ratio, dry weight. Application of 240 g/polybag compost and 10g/plant NPK fertilizer showed higher means from ecah parameter. Keywords : oil palm, male flowers, fertilizer NPK

Abstract

This study aimed to compare macrofauna of burnt and unburned peat soil and to know the effect of time increase after fire to macrofauna peat soil. This research was conducted by survey method, sampling for soil macrofauna data determined by purposive random sampling method that is by choosing the location in accordance with the purpose of research. The soil samples were taken on unburnt peatland, in peat a week after fires and in peat 4 months after fires with a capture area of 1 m x 1 m at a depth of up to 15 cm taken 6 samples so that there were 18 samples. The data obtained from the results of research and calculations are listed in table form. Then the data is analyzed statistically descriptive. The results of this study indicate the type and number of macrofauna individual soil on peat is not burned more than peat a week after the fire and, peat 4 months after the fire. Time-increasing effects on peat a week after a fire have increased the type and number of macrofauna because macrofauna proliferate in peat 4 months after the fire.Keywords:Macrofauna, Fire and Peat.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect a mixture of compost cocoa exocarpium with compost TKKS and to get the best treatment combination for the growth of cocoa in the subsoil medium ultisol. This research was conducted in the experimental field and Laboratory of Production Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in Campus Binawidya Km 12.5 Simpang Baru Pekanbaru. This research was conducted from March to June 2016. The research used Completely Randomized Design nonfactorial that consisting of 6 treatment and 3 replications, so that there are 18 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of three plants and two seeds sampled, so the total crop was 54 plants. Each treatment is : K0 = without compost; K1 = TKKS compost100 g/plant; K2 = cocoa exocarpium compost 25 g/plant + TKKS  compost  75 g/plant ; K3 = cocoa exocarpium compost 50 g/plant + TKKS  compost  50 g/plant ; K4 = cocoa exocarpium compost 750 g/plant + TKKS  compost  25 g/plant ;K5 = cocoa exocarpium compost 100 g/plant. Parameters measured were seedling height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area,root volume and seedling dry weight. Data obtained from the research results were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance followed by a further test of Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. Based on the research the application of cocoa exocarpium compostwith TKKS compost on the cocoa seeds that have been carried out, the result showed that the treatment cocoa exocarpium compostwith TKKS compost had significant effect on all parameters of observation. Treatment of cocoa exocarpium compost 100 g/seed can be recommended to get the growth of cocoa’s seedling. Keywords : cocoa, cocoa exocarpium compostwith TKKS compost, Ultisol.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of sodium chloride (NaCl) on the quality of fresh palm fruit bunches  and Crude Palm Oil (CPO) also to find the best concentration of sodium chloride.  The method used in this research was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) experiment with six treatments and four replications.  The treatments were NaCl concentrations P0 (0%), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), P4 (20%), and P5 (25%).  The collected data were statistically analyzed by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) continued by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level.  The parameters observed were loss of brondolan mass, yield, moisture, specific gravity, levels of free fatty acid (FFA), and impurity content. The results of this reseach showed that NaCl can influence the quality of fresh palm fruit bunches that yield the loss of brondolan mass, as well as to the quality of CPO, the levels of  FFA, moisture, and specific gravity.  The treatment chosen from the result of this research was P5 (concentration NaCl of 25%).  Treatment of P5 has levels FFA of 2.05%, moisture 0.216%, impurity content of 0.062%, specific gravity of 0.919, yield of 23.43% and loss of brondolan mass of 2.81%. Keywords: Natrium chloride, fresh fruit bunches, and crude palm oil.

Abstract

The sausage is processed products that is very popular among the community. Type of sausages in the market are beef sausage and chicken sausage.Sausages that can be also made from catfish which has good nutritional value as well as a new product which is appreciated by the public. The purposes of the study was to obtain the best sausage formulations of dumbo catfish and bamboo shoot using the SNI quality standards. The research was conducted experimentally using completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four repetitions, followed by DNMRT test at 5% level. The treatment in this study were LDR1 (ratio catfish 95and bamboo shoots 5) LDR2 (ratio catfish 90 and bamboo shoots 10) LDR3 (ratio catfish 85 and bamboo shoots 15) LDR4 (ratio catfish 80 and bamboo shoots 20) and LDR5 (ratio catfish 75 and bamboo shoots 25). Parameters observed were the moisture, ash, fat, protein, carbohydrates, crude fiber contants and sensory evaluation. Results of the analysis of variance showed the addition of catfish and bamboo shoot significanlyaffectedall parameters. The results of the study found that the best treatment was LDR4 with a value of 62,68% moisture content, 1,65%ash, 4,15% fat,13,48% protein, 18,04% carbohydrates and fiber content 2,49% and an overall assessment of sensory preferred by panellists.  Keywords :sausage, catfish, bamboo shoots.

Abstract

Red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) is a plant cultivated in Riau Province especially Siak district such as Tualang and Bunga Raya. However, productivity of dragon fruit is still low because attacks of diseases infection. The aim of the research is determine the diseases, the cause of the diseases and their intensity caused by fungi on the red dragon fruit plants. Based on the observation, the diseases that infected the dragon fruit plants are anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum sp., stem rot diseases by Sclerotium sp., and fusarium wilt by Fusarium sp., and orange spot diseases on fruit by Alternaria sp. The intensity of the disease attacks the dragon fruit in Bunga Raya higher  than in Tualang, i.e : 50% of anthracnose disease, 60% stem of rot disease, 30% of layu fusarium, 17,5% of orange spots on the fruit. While the intensity of the diseases in Tualang are 57.5% of anthracnose, 50% of stem rot diseases, 30% of fusarium wilt, and 15% orange spots on the fruit. Keywords : red dragon fruit plants, fungal disease, disease intensity
