Abstract

Coconut fiber is one of raw materials that can be use to produce liquid smoke. Liquid smoke has been used to extend the shelflife of fish, meat, noodle, soybean curd, and meatballs. Boiling meatballs in a liquid smoke one of the meatballs preserve techniquet. The meatballs that direct boiling within liquid smoke is more effective to extend the shelf life because of active compounf in the liquid smoke will absorbed directly by the meatballs. The white oyster mushroom with catfish meatballs was  preserved with young coconut fiber liquid smoke on the research. The research aimed to determine the liquid smoke concentration affect on meatballs preservation. A completely randomized design used with five treatments and three replications, namely: K0 (0%  liquid smoke), K1 (1%  liquid smoke), K2 (1,5%  liquid smoke), K3 (2%  liquid smoke), and K4 (2,5%  liquid smoke). Data were analyzed statistically with  Analysis of Variance and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The best treatment  was K3 on first day. The meatballs that added with 2% liquid smoke has 5,22 on degree of acid, 8,3×106 microbial total 7,53% protein content and 71,27% water content. Descriptive sensory assesment to K3 (2% liquid smoke) that the choosen treatment were grayish white colour, the aroma of liquid smoke, rather soft texture, not slimy appereance, and overall assesment by panelist rather preferred meatballs. Keywords: liquid smoke, coconut fiber, meatballs, white oyster mushrooms, and catfish

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of application some concentration of paclobutrazol and to obtain the best concentration on the growth and yield of tomato with one main branch pruned. The research was conducted experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design with treatment of application some concentration of paclobutrazol (K) consist of four levels that is: K0 : without application of paclobutrazol (control), K1 : 300 ppm, K2 : 600 ppm and K3 : 900 ppm. Data were examined using analysis of variance and mean separations with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at the 5% level.The results showed that the application of paclobutrazol on tomato plants by pruning the main branches can inhibit plant height and accelerate age appear first interest and does not make a difference by being deprived of paclobutrazol on the parameters of stem diameter, number of flowers per plant, the age of the first harvest, the amount of fruit per plant, weight of fruits per plant and fruit diameter. Keywords: paclobutrazol concentrate, growth and yield, tomato plant.

Abstract

Temburun Waterfall has the potential that can be developed as ecotourism products to support environmental sustainability, welfare and improving the quality of community life. It takes several alternative strategies in developing the Temburun Waterfall ecotourism by utilizing the strengths owned, minimizing the weaknesses and obstacles and opportunities that exist. This research aims to formulate development strategy of Temburun Waterfall ecotourism. The data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. Primary data obtained from the interview and fill questionnaire by the selected respondents taken using purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed using SWOT analysis. The results showed that the development strategy of Temburun Waterfall ecotourism 1). Strengthening institutions in managing and improving tourism objects and attractions, 2). Offering the potential that exists to outside parties / private sector in order to improve ecotourism development concept ecotourism, 3). Conduct training and assistance on tourism marketing and tourism business development and, 4). Abstract

The objectives of this research were to get microbiologically modified sago starch by using Lactobacillus plantarum 1 RN2-53 and to get the best formulation that meets the Indonesian Instant Noodle Standard (SNI 01- 3551- 2000). The aims of catfish meat added was to increase integrities and protein content of instant noodles. The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Design with six treatments and three replications. The treatment in this research included SP0 (nature sago starch 100%), SP1 (mosas 100%), SP2 (mosas 97.5%, catfish meat 2.5%), SP3 (mosas 95%, catfish meat 5%), SP4 (92.5%, catfish meat 7.5%) and SP5 (mosas 90%, catfish meat 10%). The data obtained were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and followed by a test using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The best formulation instant noodles was SP3 with ratio mosas 95% and catfish 5%. The result of analysis showed that the ratio of mosas and catfish meat significanly affected organoleptic test of colour, texture, catfish flavor before and after rehydration and mosas flavor before rehydration but did not significantly influence taste of mosas, taste of catfish and mosas flavor after rehydration, whille the hedonic test assessed according to the likes of panelist.Keywords: instant noodles, modified sago starch (mosas), Lactobacillus plantarum, catfish, sensory quality.

Abstract

The research aims to study the effect and to obtain the best dose of vegetables waste compost on the growth of coffee Robusta seedlings. The experiment has been conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University from May to August 2016. The experimental unit was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design, consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments consisted of the dose of vegetables waste compost, a.i : 0 g, 40 g, 80 g, 120 g and 160 g/seedling. Parameters observed were plant height increment, number of leaves increment, increase of stem diameter, leaf area and root volume. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and the mean of each treatment was compared with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5 % level. The result showed that the dose of vegetables waste compost at 120 g/seedling 160 g/seedling gave a better effect on enhancing the growth of coffee Robusta seedling. Keywords : Coffea canephora Pierre, vegetables waste compost dose

Abstract

Tourism is a potential sector that being developed in the city of Dumai. Mangrove forest Bandar Bakau Dumai  has a potential to be developed into ecotourism because it has a rich flora and fauna diversity that characterized by many of visitors in these area. Many of visitors in these area fearful could damage the mangrove forest. The aim of these research were to determine the potential of flora mangrove and fauna diversity that can be developed as an ecotourism attraction and analyze the carrying capacity in ecotourism track of mangrove forest Bandar Bakau Dumai. These research was conducted in ecotourism track of mangrove forest Bandar Bakau Dumai used survey method, study literature and interview. The results of these research showed that potential in the form of 14 mangrove species of flora and fauna in the form of 7 species of animals that includes high potential for the development of ecotourism with that value of the carrying capacity was 149  visitors/day.Keywords:   Ecotourism, Potential, Flora, Fauna, Carrying Capacity, Mangrove Forest,   Bandar Bakau Dumai

Abstract

Rubber seed is not utilized optimally nowdays. The alternative method to utilize the rubber is to be used as oil source. This research was aimed to obtain optimal temperature in the agitation on the cyanide acid content and quality of rubber seed oil. This research was conducted by using Completely Randomized Design experiment with four treatmens and four replications which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatmens in this research were agitation with  temperature of 70°C, 800C, 900C and 1000C for 1 hour. The results of study show that the higher temperature in the agitation significantly decreased the average content of cyanide, but increased the peroxide, acid and saponification values. Based on the results obtained, the best treatment was P4 treatment (agitation with  temperature of 100°C for 1 hour) with cyanide acid content 1.56 ppm, acid value 3.19 mg KOH/g, saponification value 175.31 mg KOH/g, density 0.90 g/ml and peroxide 2.00 Mek O2/kg. Keywords: agitation, rubber seed, cyanide acid, oil.

The results showedthatlocal wisdom of gambierplant in the village Manggilang districts Pangkalan Koto Baru totaling 45 local wisdom from past done or present do of gambier farmers. 1). Abstract

The aim of research were determine the effect interaction of tea dregs and NPK fertilizer application obtain the best dose for the growth of coffee arabica seedlings. The experiment was established at experimental farm  of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, in Pekanbaru, from September 2016 to January 2017. The research arranged experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design. The first factor tea dregs was four levels of 0, 60, 120 and 180 g/polybag and the second factor NPK fertilizer was three level of 0, 10, 15 g/polybag. Combination treatment was repeated 3 times. Parameters measured were plant height, number of leaves, root volume, root dry weight and root crown ratio. The data was analyzed statistically and followed by DNMRT at 5% level. The result showed the effect of tea dregs dose of 180 g/polybag significantly to all treatment except root crown ratio, while fertilizers NPK dose of 15 g/polybag significantly increased plant height, root volume and root dry weight. Interaction of tea dregs dose of 180 g/polybag and fertilizers NPK dose of 15 g/polybag significantly increased root volume and root dry weight. Keywords: Coffee arabica seedling, tea dregs, fertilizers NPK

Abstract

plants with three planting times and determine the best dose of sludge. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Garden, University of Riau. This study was carried out for three months starting from March 2018 to May 2018. This research was conducted experimentally and was prepared using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with sludge dose treatment consisting of 4 levels S1 = 5 tons / ha, S2 = 10 tons / ha, S3 = 15 tons / ha, S4 = 20 tons / ha. Each treatment was repeated 5 times. Data obtained from observations were analyzed statistically using variance and then tested further by Duncan's test for the New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the provision of sludge at a dose of 6 kg / 3 m2 resulted in the best growth and yield of spinach plants, both first, second and third planting and increased sludge dose significantly increased plant height, number of leaves and fresh weight of plants. Keyword: Spinach, sludge
