Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of vermicompost fertilizer and NPK fertilizers, as well as get a perfect dose of NPK and vermicompost fertilizer for the growth and production of green peas. This research has been conducted inexperimental garden Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This study was conducted over three (3) months from April to July 2017. This study was conducted in 3x3 factorial experiments were prepared using Completely Randomized Design (CRD), the first factor vermicompost fertilizer dose (K) consisting of 3 levels: 5, 10 and 15 ton/ha. Factor II dose of NPK fertilizer (P), which consists of three levels :100, 200and 300 kg/ha. From the two factors obtained 9 treatment combinations, each combination treatment was repeated 3 times, so it can conclude that 27 units each experimental trial consisted of 50 plants and 10 plants of which are used as a sample. Parameters measured were plant height, number of productive branches, flowering age, harvesting age, number of pods crop, the percentage of peas pithy, production per m2, weight of 100 seeds. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance followed by Duncan's multiple range test at 5% level. Vermicompost and NPK fertilizer interaction real effect on plant height and effect no significant effect on other parameters. The combination of vermicompost fertilizer 15 ton/ha and NPK 200 kg/ha is the best treatment with the result per m2121.92 g (1.21 ton/ha). The planting of green peas Vima 1 variety it would be best to use vermicompost fertilizer15 ton/ha and NPK fertilizer 200 kg/ha. Keywords: green peas, vermicompost fertilizer and NPK

Abstract

This study aims to determine the change pattern of  morphological and  physical traits of palm oil fruitsduring the fruit development until the time to harvest. This researchhas been conducted at PT. Panca Surya Garden’s Research Farm located in Kubang Raya, Kampar and Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Pekanbaru from February to August 2016.Sixty fruit bunchs which antheses at the same day were selected at random from 7 years old oil palm trees. The fruit bunches were hand pollinated at 18 March 2016 and each was covered by pollination bag. Beginningat 30 to 120 days after pollination (DAP), 3 fruits bunches were harvested at 15 day interval. Then from 125 DAP to 185 DAP the fruit bunch were harvested every 5 days interval. The change of morphological and physical traits were observed such as fresh bunch weight, fresh fruit weight per bunch, mesocarp thickness, fruit diameter, fruit volume andfruit moisture content, and fruit color. Showed that the increase of bunch weight, fresh fruit weight per bunch, fresh fruit weight occurred at the same pattern. Fruit fresh weight and dry weight increase steadily from 30 DAP  and reached the maximum values at about 170 DAP, then decreased slightly until 185 DAP. The fruit water content increased slowly from 30 to 45 DAP, then decreased progressively untul 150 DAP and finally decreased very rapidly  from 150 to 180 DAP. Fruit color changed from dark purple to red purple and finally at harvest the color change to yellow red. Keywords : palm oil, bunch weight, fresh fruit weight, fruit dry weight

Abstract

The research aimed to see the interaction of NPK fertilizer and coconut water as natural ZPT, and the effect of NPK fertilizer, coconut water and to get the dose of NPK fertilizer and the best coconut water concentration on cocoa seed growth in the sub soil medium. The experiment was conducted in the experimental station of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University from June to August 2016. The research used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor of dose of NPK fertilizer was 0,2,4,6 g / plant, the second factor was coconut water 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%. Data have been statistically analyzed and examined further with BNJ if significant effect on level 5%. The outcomes indicated that there was interaction between NPK fertilizer and coconut water on cocoa seed height, leaf field and dry weight, simply did not interact on stem circumference, leaf number and root canopy ratio of cocoa seedlings. Giving a dose of NPK fertilizer 4 to 6 g / plant gives a better effect on cocoa seed height, stem circumference, leaf number, leaf area and dry weight of cocoa seedlings. Provision of 50% coconut water concentration gave a better effect on stem circumference, leaf number, leaf area and dry weight of cocoa seedlings. The dosage of NPK 6 g fertilizer and concentration of coconut water 50% showed the best treatment on cocoa seed height, leaf area and dry weight of cocoa seed in the sub soil medium. Keyword : Seedling, sub soil, NPK fertilizer, coconut water

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of combination of vermicompost and dosage of NPK fertilizer to growth and production of watermelon plants and to get the best treatment. This research conducted in Experimental Garden of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, August to October 2017. This research was conducted experimentally using Randomized Complete Design consists of two factors. Factor 1 is vermicompost, consisting of K0: no vermicompost, K1: 4    t.ha-1, K2: 5 t.ha-1 and K3: 6 t.ha-1. Factor 2 is NPK fertilizer, consisting of N1: 87,5 kg.ha-1, N2: 175 kg.ha-1 and N3: 262,5 kg.ha-1. Data obtained were analyzed statistically and continued with Duncan multiple-range test at 5% level. The parameters observed were number of leaf, plant length, stem diameter, flowering age, fruit diameter, fruit weight and sugar content. The results showed that in general the combination without the application of vermicompost and NPK 87.5 kg.ha-1 has supported the growth and production of watermelon plants.Keywords: Watermelon, vermicompost, NPK fertilizer.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the ratio of sweet water guava and water in making probiotic drink by using Lactobacillus casei subsp. casei     R-68 isolated from dadih. The research was carried out experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with tree treatments and six replications. The treatments were J1S1 (ratio of sweet water guava and water 1:0), J2S2 (ratio of sweet water guava and water 3:1), J3S3 (ratio of sweet water guava and water 2:1), J4S4(ratio of sweet water guava and water 1:1), J5S5, (ratio of sweet water guava and water 1:2) and  J6S6 (ratio of sweet water guava and water 1:3). The data obtained were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and DNMRT at level 5%. The results show that the best ratio of sweet water guava and water significantly influenced (P<0,05) the pH, total lactic acid, total lactic acid bacteria, total solid, hedonic test at taste as well as descriptive test of colour. Based on the results of this research, it is concluded that best ratio of sweet water guava and water to produce probiotic drink was 1 : 3 (J6S6) which pH 4.17, total lactic acid 0.73%, total lactic of acid bacteria 8.77 log CFU/ml, total solid 12.95% and hedonic test of colour 3.55, aroma 3.50 and taste 3.58 as well as rather prefered by panelists.Key words: probiotic drink, lactobacillus casei, guava sweet water

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the effect of empty oil palm bunches compost (TKKS compost) and soil tillages on upland rice growth and yield as an intercropon immature oil palm plantation. This research was conducted at Experimental Field of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau on April to August 2016. This research is factorial experiment 4 x 3 and arrangement with Factorial Completely Randomized Block Design (RBD).The first factor is application of TKKS compost (K) with 4 dosage level (tons/ha), K0 (0), K1 (2.5), K2 (5) and K3 (7.5) and second factor is soil tillages (T) with 3 level, zero tillage, minimum tillage and maximum tillage.Each of treatments combination repeated 3 times, thus obtained 36 experimental units which has five samples. Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance (ANOVA).The effect of all treatments combination has knowed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at5 % level. Parameters measured were maximum number of tillers, productive tillers total, rate of plant growth, root and crown ratio, times of panicles out, grains total per panicle, pithy grain percentage, milled rice per plot, and weight of 1000 grains. The result showed combination of 5 tons/ha TKKS compost with maximum tillage gives the greatest result for upland rice growth and yield include milled rice per plot, it is 679.04 g (1.13 tons/ha) though not differwith combination of 7,5 tons/ha TKKS compost with minimum tillage and or maximum tillage significantly. Keywords :Upland rice, TKKS Compost, Soil Tillage

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to get the best formulationof velvacarrot with additional pineapple. This research was used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replication which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMNRT) atlevel of 5%. The treatments were WN1 (puree carrot 100%), WN2 (puree carrot 80% : puree pineapple 20%), WN3 (puree carrot 70% : puree pineapple 30%), WN4 (puree carrot 60% : puree pineapple 40%) and WN5 (puree carrot 50% : puree pineapple 50%). The results showed that the concentration of puree carrot and puree pineapple in making velvasignificantly affected to degrees of overrun, acidity (pH), melting time, crude fiber content, and assessment sensory (descriptive and hedonic). The best treatment of making velvawas WN5 with overrun 27.75%, pH 4.16, melting time 16.62 minutes, crude fiber content 1.29% and organoleptic scores of WN5are 3.04 (colour), 2.56 (flavour), 2.44 (taste), 3.52 (texture) and overall (2.77). Keywords: velva, carrot, pineapple.

Abstract

The sustainable management wild honey requires an organization, mainly to ensure the quality standard of naturalness of the wild honey and preserve the beehive trees by forming a farmers group. This research aims to find out the role of the farmers group in the utilization of wild honey in Sahilan Darussalam Village, Gunung Sahilan District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted from November up to December 2015. The data collection method used in this research is census, defined as a data collection method where whole of the population elements are known one by one. The data are gained from the census processing result, called as true value or parameter. Analysis of qualitative descriptive is an analysis by describing the whole event of the research objects and elaborate it accordance to the data and the facts on the ground. The research findings show three roles of the farmers group in the utilization of wild honey in Sahilan Darussalam Village, Gunung Sahilan District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, those are the role in the institution, production, and capital. Firstly, the role of the farmers group in terms of institution is to increase monthly income and to make it easy in joining programs of the development of wild honey supported by the government.  Secondly, in terms of production, it is to maintain the production quality by applying a leak system. Thirdly, in terms of capital, it is to gain a main capital in a way of self-sufficiency from the members.Key words: role, farmers group and honey.

Abstract

Self-help pattern is the pattern of cocoa plantation done by the farmers where the business capital is purely from the farmers or the community themselves without the help of other parties. This research focuses on cocoa plantation in Talontam Village, where to know the cocoa farming pattern that is not yet known whether the farming can increase the income of farmers in Benai.DataSubdistrict used in this research is primary data and secondary data. This research technique used is purposive sampling. Stages of data analysis in this study include (1) Income Analysis of Cocoa Farmers Self-Supporting Patterns that calculate (farm costs, gross income, net income, and family income). (2) Analysis of the efficiency of cocoa farming self-help pattern. The results of the study with the average land area of cocoa self-help pattern with the average of 0.17 Ha cocoa area with net income (Rp.3.622.835,85 / lg / th) then cocoa farming is also feasible and efficient where the value of Return Cost Ratio ≥ 1 based on arable land 2.3. Keywords :cocoa, farming,income,self-help pattern

Abstract

The purpose of  this study was to obtain best combination urea and Cordyceps mycellium on the quality of concentration ethanol. The research was implemented to determine the optimization  production of bioethanol by fermentation method technique Very high gravity fermentation (VHGF) with free cell to see the effect of the combination treatment in an increase in bioethanol. This research was conducted an experiment with two factors, the first factor is Urea which consists of four levels and the second factor isCordyceps mycellium consisting of three levels each treatment combination obtained twelve experimental units. Combination of Urea levels are U1 (0 g/l); U2 (0.2 g/l); U3 (0.4 g/l); U4 (0.6 g/l), while the combination of Cordyceps mycelliumlevels C1 (0 g/l); C2 (0.5 g/l); C3 (1 g/l). Observations were made every 24 hours; covering sugar, ethanol content, the number of cells, and pH. The data were analyzed descriptively by using a tabular or graphical. The best treatment isa combination of U2C2 (Urea 0.2 g/l and Cordyceps mycelium0.5 g/l) that resulted in the largest ethanol 22.5%. Keywords: Nypa sap, VHGF, Bioethanol, Cordyceps mycellium, and Urea
