Abstract

Okra is a vegetable plant have long been cultivated in Indonesia, has many benefits, but have not been a lot of consumption. Okra can grow well on sandy soils with high organic matter.This research aims to examine the effect of interactions as well as the main factors of TrichocompostTKKS and N, P, K fertilizersand get a dose of trichocompost interactions of N, P, K fertilizers better against the growth of crops and okra. This research was conducted at the experimental garden ofthe Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in January-April 2018 in the form of experiments multiplied with 3x4 arranged according to RAL. The first factor of the Trichocompost (T), namely: T0 = without trichocompost, T1 = 5 ton.ha-1and T2 = 10 ton.ha-1. The second factor of N, P, K fertilizer: N0= without fertilizer N, P, K, N1 = (35 kg N, 18 kg P2O5, 30 kg K2O).ha-1, N2 = (46 kg N, 27 kg P2O5, 45 kg K2O).ha-1,N3= (57,5 kg N, 36 kg P2O5, 60 kg K2O).ha-1.The results showed that the interaction Trichocompost TKKS and fertilizers N, P, K has significant effect on flowering age and the dry weight of the plant. The trichocompostTKKS has significant effect on the number of leaves, against the weight of the fruit per plant, the dry weight of the plant, while N, P, K fertilizer gave significant effect on plant height, flowering age, weightfruit per plant, weight dried plants. Trichocompost 5 tons.ha-1 and N, P, K(35 kg N, 18 kg P2O5, 30 kg K2O).ha-1can give you the best results against the growth of crops and okra. Keywords: Okra, Trichocompost, Urea, SP-36, KCl fertilizer

Abstract

The present study aims to improve the growth of palm oil seedling periodically covered with puddle by giving foliar fertilizer and gibberellin. The research was experimentally conducted at an experimental garden of Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru from August until December 2017 using completely random split plot design under 3 replications. The main plot is foliar fertilizer concentration (D) consisting of d0 = non foliar fertilized (0 ppm), d1 = foliar fertilized 1,500 ppm, d2 = foliar fertilized 3,000 ppm and the sub plot was gibberellin concentration (G) consisting of g0 = no gibberellin (0 ppm), g1 = gibberellin 15,000 ppm, g2 = gibberellin 30,000 ppm. The observed consists of: seedling height, total leaf midribs, bar diameter, total adventive roots, roots volume, shoot root ratio, dry seedling weight and seedling quality index. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance and orthogonal contrast tests at a level of 5%. The results that dry weight and quality index of palm oil seedling which are periodically covered with puddle are affected by an interaction between foliar fertilizer and gibberellin, while height seedling and dry seedling weight are affected by gibberellin concentration. The height of palm oil seedling which are periodically covered with puddle can be improved use by gibberellin. The weight of dry seedling can be improved through giving foliar fertilizers with gibberellin, provided that the concentrated are both equal. The improvement of seedling quality index with foliar fertilizer is determined by the gibberellin concentration given. Keywords: Palm oil seedling, periodic coverage of the puddle, foliar fertilizer and gibberellin

Abstract

Avocado seed contain amylose which could be raw material of making edible film. However, edible film  was resulted have durability to low water. Therefore, needed add material hidrofobic which would increase of durability to water of edible film one of is beeswax.This research was conducted experimentaly by used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatmens and three replications which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatment in this research were B1 (beeswax 5%), B2 (beeswax 10%), B3 (beeswax 15%), B4 (beeswax 20%) and B5 (beeswax 25%). The results of variance analysis showed that addition of concentrations beeswax gave significantly affect on thickness, solubility, water of uptake and water of transfer edible film. The best formulations was obtained on the edible film with addition 5% beeswax which has thickness of 0.28 mm, solubility of 23.59%, water of uptake 313.35% and water of transfer 0.23 g.m-2.hour. Keywords: avocado seed, edible film, beeswax

Abstract

Upland rice is a rice producing food crop that needs to be increased by utilizing Ultisol soil. This soil has low organic matter and P is fixed by Al, so it is necessary to provide TKKS compost and phosphor fertilizer. This study aims to determine the combination of TKKS compost with phosphor fertilizer and each of the main factors that can support the growth and yield of upland rice. This research was conducted at the University of Riau Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Garden, starting from February 2018 to June 2018. This research was conducted using factorial randomized complete design. The first factor was TKKS compost (0, 5, 10, and 15) ton.ha­-1, the second factor was phosphorus fertilizer (36.8, 46.0, 55.6, and 64.4) kg P2O5.ha-1. Observation parameters: plant height, number of productive tillers, harvest age, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, percentage of rice grain, weight of empty grain and weight of milled dry grain and weight of 1000 grains of grain. The data obtained were statistically analyzed by variance analysis and further duncan’s multiple range tests (DMRT) at the level of 5%. TKKS compost 15 tons.ha-1  gaves better results for all parameters except the percentage of rice grain and weighs 1000 grains. Phosphor fertilizer 64.4 kg P2O2.ha-1 gave better results for parameters of plant height, panicle length, number of seed grains, and weight of milled dry grain per clump. Combination TKKS compost 15 tons.ha-1 with phosphorus fertilizer 64.4 kg P2O2.ha-1 and 10 tons.ha-1 with 46.0 kg. P2O2.ha-1  provides better results compared to other treatments for all parameters except the percentage of rice grain and weight of 1000 grains. Keywords: TKKS Compost, Phosphorus Fertilizer, Upland Rice and Ultisol

Abstract

This research aims are : 1) Analyze social capital, 2) Analyze empowerment, 3) Analyze the relationship of social capital and empowerment and 4) Formulate a strategy for developing social capital for the empowerment of rubber farmers in Singingi District. This research was conducted in Singingi District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. Social capital is measured by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Likert Scale, the empowerment of rubber farmers is measured using a Likert scale, the relationship between social capital to the empowerment of rubber farmers used rank spearman correlation analysis and formulates social capital strategies for the empowerment of rubber farmers using SWOT analysis. The results show that social capital has a high intensity with specific relationships in individuals in the group at the highest intensity. Significant relationship, correlated positively in very weak direction between social capital and the empowerment of rubber farmers. To increase empowerment through the social capital of rubber farmers, this research expects farmers to implement strategies that have been formulated primarily in the dimension of empowerment. Keywords: social capital, empowerment, rubber farmers.

Abstract

Midrib of palm oil is one of palm oil plantation waste which is abundant and didn’t optimally utilized. This study aims to obtain the best resin adhesive concentration in making of particle board from palm oil midrib. The study was done experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments of palm oil midrib and resin adhesive were 90% :10%, 85%: 15%, 80%: 20%, 75%: 25%, and 70% : 30%. The Data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Varience (ANOVA) and Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) in the level of 5%. The results showed that the composition of palm oil midrib and resin adhesive significantly affected water content, water absorption, thick development, modulus of elasticity, and modulus of rupture but it didn't have significant effect on density. The best treatment in this study was P5 treatment with density of 0,80 g.cm-3, water content of 9,11%, water absorption of 213,12%, thick development of 132,11%, modulus of elasticity of 3.159,48 kgf.cm-2, and modulus of rupture of 19,17 kgf.cm-2. Keywords: Particle board, palm oil midrib, resin adhesive

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of banana peel fermentation as liquid organic fertilizer on the growth of rose plants and determine the best dosage for the growth of rose plants. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau's experiment station from August to November 2017. This research was conducted in the form of an experiment using a non-factorial complete randomized design consisting of 5 levels and 3 replications. Fermented banana peel as a liquid organic fertilizer consists of 0, 150, 300, 450, 600 ml per polybag. The parameters observed were the number of shoots, length of shoots, number of leaves, when the first flower appeared and the number of blooms. The results showed that administration of banana peel fermented as a liquid organic fertilizer significantly affected the number of shoots, number of leaves, when the first flower appeared and the number of flowers. Provision of banana peel  fermentation as a liquid organic fertilizer with a dose of 450 ml per polybag gives the highest yield for the growth of rose plants.Keywords : Rose, liquid organic fertilizers, dosage

Abstract

This research aims to: 1) analyzes the social capital of the farmer rubber, 2) Analyze empowerment rubber farmers, 3) analyzed the Relationship of social capital and peasant empowerment rubber, 4) Formulating strategies to social capital development empowerment farmer rubber in district Tambusai North. This research was conducted in Northern Tambusai. Social capital measured by analysis of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and the Likert scale, the relationship between social capital and keberdayaan rubber farmers using correlation analysis of rank spearman and formulate social capital for rubber farmers with empowerment using SWOT analysis. The results show that social capital has a specific relationship with high intensity on individuals in the group are at high intensity. Empowerment generated by five elements: land, pengelolahan land, seeds, maintenance, and production in the category quite helpless. A significant relationship, correlated positively and weak direction occur between social capital against farmers empowerment rubber.Keywords: social capital, empowerment, rubber farmer

Abstract

Rubert plant was one of important pantation comodity as second source of forign exchange after palm oil. This study aims to determine the interaction of young coconut water and red onion extract in accelerating the breakdown of stum buds in the sleeping eye of rubber plants and their growth.   This research was conducted in the experiement garden of faculty of agriculture of Riau University. This study was a factorial experiement using a completely randomized design, which consists of two factors, such as first factor is the concentration of young coconut water consisting of 0%, 25%, 50% and 75%, while the second factor is the concentration of shallot extract consisting of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%.  Parameters observed were shoot growth time, shoot length, shoot diameter, number of leaves, shoot dry weight. Giving the concentration of 75% young coconut water and 2% shallot extract gave the best results on the growth of shoot length, number of leavers, bud diameter and ory weight of shoots from the stum rubber sleeping eyes.Giving 75% of young coconut water (containing cytokinin) and 2% onion extract (containing auxin) increases shoot length by 44.17 cm compared to without treatment of 10.33 cm Keywords:young coconut water,red onion extract,rubber sleeping eye stump
