Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of household organic waste liquid fertilizer on the growth and production of peanutsand determine the concentration of good liquid organic fertilizer. The experiment lasted for 4 month from November 2017 to Februari 2018 experimental garden of Agricultural Faculty of Riau University. This research using a randomized block design (RDB) consisting of five treatments and four replications. The treatment given is K0 = 0 ml POC.l-1 water, K1 = 2.5 ml POC.l-1 water, K2 = 5 ml POC.l-1 water, K3 = 7.5 ml POC.l-1 water, and K4 = 10 ml POC.l-1 water. The parameters observed were plant height, age of flowering plants, harvest age, number of pods per plant, percentage of pithy pods, number of seeds per pod, dry seed weight per m2, and weight of 100 seeds. The data obtained were analyzed using Anova and Duncan on levels 5%. The results showed that household organic liquid fertilizer can affect plant height, age of flowering plant, harvest age, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, dry seed weight per m2, and weight of 100 seeds. The concentration of household organic liquid fertilizer7.5 ml.l-1 water and 10 ml.l-1 water give the best results in increasing the production of peanut plants.Keywords: Peanuts, concentration, liquid organic fertilizer

Abstract

This study aims to (1) find out the characteristics of the society of the utilization yard in  Sidomulyo Village, Lirik subdistrict, Indragiri Hulu District (2) to find out the pattern of the yard Sidomulyo Village, Lirik subdistrict, Indragiri Hulu District. This research was conducted in Sidomulyo Village, Lirik subdistrict, Indragiri Hulu District, from Januari 2018 to November 2018 using snowball sampling. The number of samples in this study amounted to 25 people, where all samples used the yard. Data analysis used in this study is descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate: (1) The Characteristics that influence the society in the used of yard are age, sex, education, income, and dependents of family, (2) The pattern of yard use of respondents in Sidomulyo Village is that the whole uses a horizontal pattern (100%) and there were no respondents in Maharatu Village who used the verticulture patternKeywords: yard, Society, yard pattern.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the application of area stability criteria of Protected Forest Management Unit (PFMU) of Unit XIV Toba Samosir and to find out the factors that influence the performance of PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir in area stabilization. This study was used criteria and indicator from Forest Watch Indonesia version 1.0. Data collection was done through documentation studies, field observations and in depth interviews. Data analysis was done by giving an assessment of each quality element of each indicator. The results showed that the average of assessed criterias was 2,166 which was in sufficient range, which means PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir was quite good at carrying out its functions as a forest management unit at the site level. The factors that influence the development performance of PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir in area stabilization was forest land tenure conflict with the community around the PFMU Unit XIV Toba Samosir area which caused the absence of boundary arrangements throughout the perimeter of the forest area, human resources that were inadequate in conflicts resolution and the implementation of socialization to the community, and management funds are still limited. Keywords: application, area stability, criteria, KPHL

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the variability an to identify local rice genotipe collected from West Bangkinang and Tambang, Kampar District. The seventeen accessions were grow in Agricultural Experiment Station University of Riau Pekanbaru from September 2017 to March 2018. This research uses descriptive analysis method which includes characterization activities in 17 local rice accessions.Local rice from the West Bangkinang District and Tambang Subdistrict showed uniform and varied performances. The character of the leaf midrib and panicle shaft shows a uniform performance value. The character of leaf tongue shape, leaf color, leaf length, flag leaf angle, root stem diameter, number of children, color of rootstock section, panicle type and color of grain tip showed varying performance values. The results of the analysis of the diversity of morphological characters in 17 local rice accessions ranged from (0 – 4,971). The leaf midrib color character has a uniform diversity and the panicle type character has a very high diversity.Keywords: local rice, diversity, morphology.

Abstract

Upland rice prouction (Oryza sativa L.) in Riau Province was lower than the   previous year. One of the main constraints of upland rice is one of which is rice bug pest attack (Leptocorisa acuta T.). Eco-friendly pest  controls are offered using pestiside vegetables of gadung tuber extract (Dioscorea hispida Dennst). The aim of  the study was to obtain the concentration of  gadung tuber extract which was effective in controlling the stink bug pest on upland rice plants in the field. The research has been implemented in the experimental garden (green house), Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau which from January to April 2018. The research is prepared using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replictions, ie the concentration of  gadung tuber extract 80,85,90,95, and 100 grams/liter water. The observed Parameters are, morphology changes and behavior, the start time of the death (hours), lethal time 50 (hours),  daily mortality (%), total mortality (%), temperature and humidity.  The results showed that the concentration of 90 grams/liter of water was an effective concentration for controlling rice bug pest control with an initial death time of 3.50 hours, lethal time 50 15.25 hours after application and a total mortality of 85%. Keywords: Upland rice plants (Oryza sativa L.), Rice bug (Leptocorisa acuta T.), Vegetable pesticides, Gadung tuber extract (Dioscorea hispida Dennst),

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of palm oil fruit bunch ash, N fertilizer and interaction between palm oil fruit bunch ash and Nfertilizer on the growth and yield  of sweet corn. The research was carried out in the experiment station and the Plant Ecofisilogy Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This study used factorial randomized block design (RBD) consisting of two factors and 3 replications. The first factor was palm oil fruit bunch ash which consists of four levels: K0: 0 t.ha-1, K1: 1.5 t.ha-1 (0.9 kg. 6m-2), K2: 2 t.ha-1 (1.2 kg. 6m-2), K3: 2.5 t.ha-1 (1.5 kg. 6m-2). The second factor was N fertilizer which consists of two levels, namely: P1: N 115 kg.ha-1 (69 g. 6m-2) P2: Urea 138 kg. Ha-1 (82.8 g. 6m-2). The results showed that the increase in palm oil fruit bunch ash increased the plant height, number of leaves, and number of cobs harvested. Increasing the N dose only increases plant height. The interaction of palm oil bins and N fertilizers only increases plant height.Keywords: Sweet corn, palm oil bare ash, N fertilizer

Abstract

Theresearch aims to improve the peat soilfertility (chemical and physical soil properties) through the giving of dolomite and planting of legume cover cropMucuna bracteata. Theresearch was conducted at Kualu Nanas Village, Tambang, Kampar, Riau from September 2017 to February 2018. The researchused Split Plots Design with a basic pattern of Completely Randomized Design. The main plot is Mucuna bracteatawhich consists of 2 levels, without and using a cover crop of Mucuna bracteata. The subplot is the dosesof dolomite fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely, 0.0ton.ha-1, 0.5ton.ha-1, 1.0ton.ha-1, 1.5ton.ha-1 The observedparameters were soil water content, water holding capacity, pH soil, soil organic carbon, N-total soil,P-total soil, K-total soil, cation exchange capacity (CEC), exchangeable base, base saturation, LCC M. bracteata biomass, the total of LCCM. bracteata root nodules, the total of LCC M. bracteataeffective root nodules and the tendrils lengthof LCC M. bracteata. The results showed that the planting of LCC M. bracteata increasing the saturation of peat soil bases by 299.12% if the dolomite doses was increased from 0.5 ton.ha-1 to 1.0 ton.ha-1 and 1.5 ton.ha-1. The planting of LCC M. bracteata and thegiving of dolomite can increase the fertility of peat soils such as pH, N-total, exchangeable bases, CEC and base saturation. Keywords : soil fertility, peat, dolomite, Mucuna bracteata.

Abstract

      The objectives of this study were to determine the components of variances, heritability and selections responce of several traits in a soybean population applied by liquid foliar fertilizer (LFF). A field  experiment was conducted  in the Faculty of Agriculture Experiment Station, University of Riau from February to May 2018 using a split plot design with three replications. Three rates of LFF concentrations applied to plant leaves; ie, no LFF, 2 g.l-1 and 4 g.l-1 were a signed as main plot and eight varieties were assigned as subplot. Seed of every cultivar was panted in a plot of 3 m long and 2 m wide with planting space of 40 cm x 20 cm on February 2018. In the control treatment, inorganic fertilizer was applied according to recommended rate; ie, 25 kg N, 30 kg P2O5, and 30 kg K2O per ha, respectively while for plots applied by LFF, the fertilizer was only applied by one half of recommended rate. Characters observed were plant height, flowering date, number of primary branches, harvest date, number of filled pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant, seed filling rate, effective seed filling periods, grain yield and hervest index. Data were analyzed by analysis of varians and further tested by least significant different at 5% level. The component of variance and heritability were estimated by the procedure of Hallauer et al. (2004). The result indicated wide variability among varieties for all characters while LFF affected only on  number of primary brunches, plant high, flowering date, grain yield and harvest index. The value of genetic variance was significant for all traits and heritability value was different from zero for all characters. Predicted response to selection was quite high for  number of filled pods per plant and  number of seeds per plant but quite low for other characters. The result indicated that all characters could be used as selection criteria in a plant breeding program. However, number of seeds per plant  and number of filled pods per plant as selection criteria were potential to speed up in reaching plant breeding objective.  Keywords : varians component, heritability, black soybean, selection response

Abstract

The purpose of this study are: 1) to analyze the level of profit and efficiency of sweet corn farming in Sidomulyo Barat Village, 2) to analyze the level of profit and marketing system of sweet corn in Sidomulyo Barat Village. The sample of farmers in this study amounted to 25 respondents and a sample of traders amounted to 10 respondents. The research method uses census techniques with the overall respondents taking farmers who do sweet corn farming activities. Determination of marketing agency samples using the snowball sampling method by following the marketing channel. The results showed that sweet corn farming efficiency was 1.60 and marketing channel I efficiency was 2.68% and in marketing channel II was 8.55%, the efficient channel was marketing channel I. Farmer channel channel I was 75% and channel II was 69.23% .Keywords: sweet corn, farming, income, marketing channel, farmer share

Abstract

The research aims to  isolate and to study the antagonicity of endophytic bacteria from rubber plant to Rigidoporus microporus Cif. and to identify the higher antagonicity isolates. The research has been conducted at Plant Pathology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Universty of Riau from April until June 2017. The research used explorational method (isolation and purification of the bacteria from rubber plant), experimental method (antagonicity test of bacteria endophytic from rubber plant to Rigidoporus microporus) and observation methods (hypersensitive test and characterization of five high antagonicity isolates to Rigidoporus microporus). Data collected from step 1,3 and 4 were analyzed descriptively. Step 2 used analysis of variance. The mean treatments were compared with Duncan’s new multiple range test at 5% level. Result of the research showed that there were 9 different bacterial isolates based on their color and shape of colony. There were four highest antagonicity bacteria, i.e: isolate  rod-2(56,32%), leaf-4 (48,45%), root-3 (46,11%) and leaf-3 (45,50%). The four bacteria are not hypersensitive due to the absence of the necrosis on injected tobacco leaf. The four highest antagonicty bacteria was identified as Bacillus (rod-2), Enterobacter (leaf-4), Aeromonas (root-3) and Listeria (leaf-3). Keywords:Endophytic Bacteria, Rubber Plant, AntagonicityR. mic
