Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the effect of giving dosage Biofertilizer Liquid on growth and production, and to determine the best Biofertilizer Liquid dosage in intercropping systems of green beans and baby corn. This research was conducted at experimental station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. This research was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design consisting of six treatments and three replications to obtain 18 experimental units. The treatment in this study was the dosage of NASA Biofertilizer Liquid 5, ha-1, 10 l.ha-1, 15 l.ha-1, 20 l.ha-1, 25 l.ha-1, 30 l.ha-1. The observed parameters on green beans were plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of pods per plant (fruit), production per plot (g), weight of 1000 dry seeds (g), on baby corn is plant height (cm ), age of harvest (HST), diameter of baby corn without cornhusk (cm), length of baby corn without cornhusk (cm), weight of baby corn without cornhusk per plot (g). The data obtained were analyzed by variance and tested further with Duncan's new range test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the application of NASA Biofertilizer Liquid with dosage significantly affected the observed parameters. The results showed of Biofertilizer Liquid NASA at dosage of 25 l.ha-1-30 l.ha-1 is the best dosage in increasing growth and the result of green beans intercropped with baby corn Kata Kunci:   Kacang Hijau, Jagung Semi, POC NASA, Tumpangsari

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain the best formulation of red bean and oyster mushroom in making vegetable meatballs. This research used experimental method by using a complete randomized design (RAL) with five treatments and three replication. The treatments were KJ1 = red beans 100% and oyster mushrooms 0%, KJ2 = red beans 90% and oyster mushrooms 10%, KJ3  = red beans 80% and oyster mushrooms 20%, KJ4 = red beans 70% and oyster mushrooms 30%, KJ5 = red beans 60% and oyster mushrooms 40%.  Data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level. Based on this research the best treatment was meatball KJ4 = red bean 70% and oyster mushroom 30% which had 67.722% moisture content, 2.350% ash content, 0.136% fat content 0.136%, 2.333% crude fiber content.   Result of the the sensory test were descriptively colored rather gray, red bean and oyster mushroom taste, red bean and oyster mushroom flavor, and rather chewy in texture.  Result of the hedonic test on color, taste, aroma, texture and overall assessment were liked by panelists.

Abstract

The use of synthetic pesticide give many negative impacts, therefore need to do the right control with microorganism utilize. That potentially microorganism such as entomopathogenic nematode. The research aims to isolate and obtain the entomopathogenic nematode isolat from the annual crops field at Agriculture Experimen Station in Faculty of Agriculture Riau University by using bait larvae of Tenebrio molitor. The research was carried out with survey methode. The sample were isolated from mustard greens field, papaya field and corn field at Agriculture Experimen Station. Data obtained were descriptive statistically analyzed and displayed in the form of picture. The results showed that isolation by using larvae of T. molitor had entomopathogenic nematode with the characteristics larvae of T. molitor which infected by entomopathogenic nematode were discharge of movement activity, motionless and finally the larvae was die with the change of skin colour from light brown to caramel. Another symptom was seen is larvae body became flabby, although that body shape still whole. The larvae colour change from light brown to caramel showed that larvae was infected by Steinernematidae family of entomopathogenic nematode. Steinernematidae family of entomopathogenic nematode had general and particural morphological characteristic. They had smooth head and not realated, pointed short tail, the vulva are jutting out and is located in the middle, nerves ring in anterior. The particular characteristic of Steinernematidae was they had no bursa at tail part. Keywords : isolation, identification, entomopathogenic nematode, Tenebrio molitor

Abstract

This research was intended to find out the effect of interaction between AB mix nutrition and tofu liquid waste in order to get the best AB mix concentration and tofu liquid waste concentration for the plant growth and cucumber plant yield (Cucumis sativa L.) hidroponically. This research took place in the Green House of Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau during July to November 2017. This research was conducted experimentally by using complete randomized factorial design (RAL) which have two factors and three replication. Factor 1 the concentration of AB mix nutrition (K), where: K1 = 0 ml, K2 = 2 ml.l-1,K3 = 4 ml.l-1 and Factor 2 the concentration of tofu liquid waste (L) with: L1 = 20%, L2 = 40%, L3 = 60%, L4 = 80%. The result showed that, the interaction of AB mix concentration and tofu liquid waste indicated non significant effect on all parameters. The single factor of AB mix indicated non significant  effect on the length and the diameter of fruits but had significant effect on other parameters. In a single factor tofu liquid waste indicated a significant effect only on the length of fruits. Therefore, the application of 4 ml.l-1 of AB mix concentration and 60% concentration of tofu liquid waste indicated the best result of plant growth and the production of the cucumber.Keywords: AB mix nutrition, tofu liquid waste, cucumber, hydroponic

Abstract

The necessaries of energy and fuel in Indonesia will be increase every year due to the increasing of development and population growth. The government encourages people to do energy savings and looking for the alternative of energy resources. One of the alternative energy is biomass energy, biomass can be processed and used as an alternative fuel, for example in the form of charcoal briquettes. This research aims to determine the characteristics of charcoal briquettes from the blend of the jabon wood waste and the palm fiber waste. This research used completely randomized design method which consists of 5 treatments and 3 repetitions. The result showed that the waste of jabon wood and the waste of palm fiber  can be used as raw material for charcoal briquettes. The average of water content was 4,28% - 4,76% and the average value of calorific was 5016,48 cal/gram – 6785,68 cal/gram, all treatments are compliance with SNI criteria. The calculation of fuel power does not have the provision of SNI yet, in this research has been obtained an average computation of power fueled by 0,234 gram/minute – 0,308 gram/minute. Keywords: Briquettes, Charcoal, Biomass, Waste

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the EFB Trichocompost with NPK formulations and get the best formulations for plant growth those derived from immature oil palm twin sprouts plant. The research was conducted experimentally using a randomized block design (RBD), which consists of 5 treatments and 3 replications, from  June 2016 to September 2016 at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang village, Riau Province. Such treatment was: the formulation EFB Trichocompost with NPK, ie: P0 (without fertilizer), P1 (EFB Trichocompost 10 ton / ha + NPK 6 tablets), P2 (EFB Trichocompost 10 ton / ha + NPK 8 tablets), P3 (EFB Trichocompost 20 ton / ha + NPK 6 tablets), P4 (EFB Trichocompost 20 ton / ha + NPK 8 tablets). The parameters measured were the increase of plant height, number of leaves, trunk circumference, midrib length, and petiole length. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple range test at the 5 % level. The results showed implementation of formulations of  20 ton / ha EFB Trichocompost with 8 tablets  NPK was the best treatment on all parameters in immature oil palm plant origin twin sprouts. Keywords: twin sprouts, oil palm, EFB Trichocompost, NPK.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain the best combination of midribs and oil palm empty fruit bunches on the characteristics of bioarang briquettes produced. The study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (RAL) with five treatments and three replications, in order to obtain 15 units. The treatment in this study is the difference of percentage midribs and oil palm empty fruit bunches, namely (P1 = 25% : 65%, P 2= 35%: 55%, P3 = 45%: 45%, P4 = 55%: 35%, and P5 = 65%: 25%), with 10% tapioca adhesive. The analysis tested in this study were water content, ash content, volatile substance content, carbon rate, and heating value. The results of variance showed that the percentage of midribs and oil palm empty bunches gave a significant effect on water content, volatile substance content, ash content, carbon rate, and heating value. The best formulation selected was P1 25% midrib and 65% oil palm empty bunches with water content of 6.79%, volatile substance content 8.99%, ash content 9.51%, carbon rate 74.70%, and heating value 5742.80 kal/g.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research was to determine the best concentration of gum arabic in prevented sedimentation in syrup made frompeel and flesh of pineapple(Ananas comosus L Merr.).This researchusedCompletely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments and three replications followed by DNMRT test at 5% level. The treatments in this research were G0 (without addition of gumarabic), G1 (addition of gum arabic 0.01%), G2 (addition of gum arabic 0.02%), G3 (addition of gum arabic 0.03%), G4 (addition of gum arabic 0.04%), andG5(addition of gum arabic 0.05%). The result of analysis of variance showed that addition of gum arabic has significantly affected the pH, viscosity, sucrose, sedimentation, and sensory value on descriptive and hedonic attribute of taste and level of condensed, but did not significantly affected the flavour and colour. The best treatment in this research was G5 (additional of gum arabic 0.05%) with pH  5.13, viscosity 223.75 cP, sucrose 69.15%, sedimentation 7.23%, yellow colour, pineaple fruit flavour, sweetness and condensed. Keyword : syrup, pineapple, gum arabic

Abstract

Rattan processing as Non Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) create a variety of production activities for various industries rattan craft. Indragiri Hulu District right in Buluh Rampai village is one of which has a very hight potential in the rattan craft industry. This research intend to analyze the magnitude of the cost, acceptance, the marketing of rattan craft and analyze efficiency of the rattan craft business. The population in this research is the rattan craft entrepreneur in Buluh Rampai Village. The method used in this research is using of the cencus method and data collection techniques used in this research is interviews and questionnaires. The result of this research showed that the analysis of rattan craft business in Buluh Rampai Village is 1. The amount of production costs incurred by rattan craftsmen per year is Rp85.517.209. 2. Gross revenue earned of craftsmen per year average amount Rp157.200.000. 3. Net revenue earned of craftsmen per year average amount Rp71.682.791. 4. Marketing channel of the rattan craft there are 2 channels 1) Producer-consumer 2) Producer-collectors-retailer-consumer. 5. Marketing costs of the rattan craft in Buluh Rampai Village isn’t expend costs, this is due the craftsmen directly sell to consumers 6. Results of the analysis of business efficiency that obtained the craftsmen in Buluh Rampai Village 1.83, therefore rattan craft business in Buluh Rampai Village economically feasible to be continued and developed.Keywords: Rattan, Rattan Craft, Costs Production, R/C ratio

Abstract

This research objectives are to find out the appropriate tapping time and its effect on the latex production of PB 260 rubber plantation so that the highest production would be gained.      The experiment was carried out in the Bukit Selanjut Village, Kelayang Districts, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The study was conducted for 1 month from September to October 2016. The study arranged experimentally using Completely Randomized Block Design with  7 treatments and 3 replications then obtained 21 experimental units.               The treatment of rubber plantation tapping time used is K1: 05.00 am, K2: 05.30 am, K3: 06.00 am, K4: 06.30 am, K5: 07.00 am, K6: 07.30 am and the K7: 08.00 am. The parameters were observed drip duration of latex droplet, latex volume and dry rubber content. Data was analyzed statistically using ANOVA and tested by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The research result showed that different tapping time effect the parameters drip duration of latex, latex volume and the dry rubber content. Tapping the rubber plant at 06.00 am was the best time for tapping because it creates the longest latex droplet which was 78,38 minutes, highest latex volume was 81,73 ml and highest dry rubber content was  68,26%. Keywords: Hevea brasiliensis Muell Arg, PB 260 clone, tapping time
