Abstract

The aims of this study are to: (1) Describe the institutional of plantation extension in RokanHilir; (2) analyze the performance of plantation extension services in RokanHilir based onextensionworkers and farmers perception. This study was conducted in RokanHilir, the reason for taking this research is because RokanHilir is one of the regency that do not have a special institution to deal with extension activities. The method used to determine the sample in this research was purposive sampling, census, and Yaname Taro formula. Descriptive analysis is used to answer the first question and Likert Scale's Summated Rating (SLR) analysis was used to answer the second aim.The results showed: (1); The field of extension is a field that is responsible for extension activities that have 8 plantationextension, themembers who work in plantation offices are not appropriate with their background , while for the program areas of extension is not running well.(2) the perception of the extension workersperformance extension is in high category as can be seen fromthe responsiveness, responsibility, accountability and quality of service. Meanwhile, according to farmers' perception, the extension workersperformance is in the low category that can be seen from indicators of responsiveness, responsibility, accountability and quality of service. Keywords:Institutional, performance,extension institution

Abstract

This research aims to find out the diversity of agronomic and morphological characters of various local rice accessions obtained from two Districts in Kampar Regency namely Rumbio Jaya District and Kampar District. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Riau on September 2017 to March 2018. The research used descriptive analysis method which consists of characterization referring to the guidelines for the characterization and evaluation system of rice plants. The results of the research shows that there are diversity between accessions in the form of agronomic and morphological characters, where the characterization is carried out on 10 observational characters including plant age, plant height, grain fertility, pistil head color, stem color, leaf neck color, leaf ears color, leaf stem color , leaf tongue shape and number of tillers. This information is useful for plant breeders in developing superior varieties of Kampar local rice plants. In addition, this information is useful as a historical description of the collected accession.Keywords: Characterization, accession, local rice plant, kampar regency

Abstract

The purpose of research to know about the influence of giving kirinyuh green fertilizer interaction and little doses of NPK fertilizer along best treatment between kirinyuh green fertilizer with NPK fertilizer to palm oil seedling (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) growth on the main nursery. This research have done in the Garden of Agriculture Faculty, Riau University, Jl. Bina Widya KM 12,5 Simpang Baru, Tampan, Pekanbaru for about six months from december 2015 until mei 2016 with using Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial, there are two factors: first, Kirinyuh dose (K) had three levels, they area; K0=kirinyuh green fertilizer with 0 g/plant dose, K1= kirinyuh wet green fertilizer with 60 g/plant, K3= kirinyuh dry green fertilizer with 60 g/plant dose. Second, NPK fertilizer dose, it had three levels, they are; N0= giving NPK fertilizer with 0 g/plant dose N1=giving NPK fertilizer with 6,25 g/plant N2=giving NPK fertilizer with 12,5 g/plant. The parameter which to be subject are plant high, number of leaf, diameter of knot on tree, vast of leaf, wet plant weigh, dry root weigh, crown rasio and root. By statistic of analyse data with using kind exam and to be continue with different experience on level 5%. The result of experience shows that interaction of giving kirinyuh green fertilizer and NPK fertilizer could be influence with plant high,diameter of knot on tree, dry plant weigh amd the crown of root. With Combining on giving wet kirinyuh green fertilizer 60 g/plant doses and NPK fertilizer 12,5 g/plant are the best treatment. Keywords: Kirinyuh green fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, Palm Oil

Abstract

The purpose of this study wasto obtain the best jam formulation from masak sehari banana cultivar and rosella petals and preferred by the panelists. This research wascarriedexperimentallyusingcompletely randomizeddesign(CRD) withfive treatments and threereplications. The treatments in this study werePR1(80%banana fruit and  rosella petals), PR2(65% banana fruitand35%  rosella petals ), PR3(50%  banana fruitand50%rosellapetals), PR4(35%  banana fruitand65% petals rosela)andPR5(20%  banana fruit and 80% rosella petals). Data obtained were treated by ANOVA followed by Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) the level of 5%. The results showed that the ratio of banana and rosella petals significantly effect on the water content, acidity, total dissolved solids, fiber contents, sucrose content, pectin content and sensory test. The best jam of this study was PR3 (50% banana fruit and 50% rosella petals). This jam contained water content 31.33%; pH 3.86; total dissolved solids 65.56%; fiber content 2.91%; sucrose content 52.19% and pectin content 1.05%. The jam had red colour, rather taste of banana and rather taste of rosella petals, rather flavor of banana and rather flavor of rosella petals and rather soft texture.Keywords: Jam, Masak sehari banana cultivar, rosella petals.

Abstract

1. Mahasiswa Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau2. Dosen Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau The purpose of this research is to identify nutrient deficiency by using remote sensing in palm oil plantation. The research was conducted in palm oil plantation, PT. SMART Tbk (Sinarmas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk), Kandista Garden, Kandis, Siak Regency, Riau. This research had been conducted for six months in March to August 2017. The total area used in this research was 1628,59 ha. This research used survey method consisting of several stages viz.    1) Establish sample location by looking at several aspects in the determination of land availability, soil fertility, and land characteristics. 2) Determinate point sample done homogeneously by looking at the health and normal condition of palm oilthat will affect the plot location. 3) Leaf analysis, soil analysis and remotesensing used image processing. The data obtained were analyzed using regression analysis, to determine the correlation of satellite color and actual data in the field. Parameters used were the analysis of nutritioncontent, analysis of nutritioncontent with remote sensing. The resultsshowed that nutrient content of N, P and K of palm oil leaves contain no nutrient deficiency. Nutrient N and P content in leaves have a better accuracy than model prediction results compared with K content. Based on the analysis,  composite bands: red, green, bluewere unstable and unconsistent in representing plant nutrient content, this may be influenced by imaging resolution obtained. Abstract

The success of extension is not separated from the importance of the extension role that has been implemented. One of the roles of extension is to facilitate the learning process of main actors (perpetrators of agricultural activities) and business people as well as seek access to key actors and business people to source information, technology, and other resources to They can develop their business, therefore the extension can be held well not regardless of the importance of the extension role in achieving the purpose of the extension itself. In addition, the importance of the counseling role is carried out to develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills for the main actors and businesses in carrying out their daily activities on gambir plantation activities. How the perception of extension to the importance of the counseling role in the Gambir plant in the district of Pangkalan Koto Baru District Lima Puluh Kota regency of West Sumatra Province is very interesting to be examined according to the background above. This research aims to know the implementation of extension in the gambir plant in the district of Pangkalan Koto Baru Lima Puluh Kota regency, and know the perception of farmers to the importance of the extension role in the Gambir plant in Pangkalan  Koto Baru District Lima Puluh Kota regency province of West Sumatra. This research uses the survey method. Data is collected in a descriptive and qualitative through direct observation. The results of this research showed that the extension role in the subdistrict of new district is in the category of role with the average score of 3.59 (role).Keywords : Perception, Extension role, Farmer

Abstract

The use of several kinds of compost on the arabica coffee seedlingis an effort to provide organic fertilizer from agricultural waste.This fertilizer is espected to improvethe growth of coffee seedling, because it has function as the source of nutrient and it is able to improve the physical and biological properties of soil. The research was carried out on the experimental station, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau on December 2016 – March 2017, by using a completely randomized design with the treatment without compost, cocoa fruit skin compost, OPEFB compost, tofu compost, straw compost, legume compost with dosage100 g/polybag. The growth observed was seedling height, stem diameter, number and area of leaves, root volume, root-shoot ratio, and dry weight of seedling.The result showed that giving ofseveral kinds of composteffect on parameter of area of leaves, root-shoot ratio, dry weight of seedling.The best treatment was obtained of legume compost 100 g/polybaghigher on parameter of seedling height, stem diameter, number and area of leaves, root-shoot ratio and dry weight of seedling.Key word : Arabica coffee seedling (Coffea arabica L.), Compost

Abstract

This research was carried out in Sungai Apit subdistrict Siak regency. In general, the society in Sungai Apit working on palm sector where in the farming and marketing farmers sell their products to the collector. The objective of this research was to analyze of palm farmers’ attitude towards merchant collector in Sungai Apit, to analyze the level of confidence and level of important palm farmers’ attribute toward of merchant collector in Sungai Apit. The method of research that used was survey method and the sample was used simple random sampling. Palm farmer was sold to merchant collector then merchant collector was sold to big merchant and after that big merchant was sold to factory. The method of analysis data was used multiatribut Fishbein attitude analysismodel, and analysis of Cartesian diagram. The results of this research showed that the attitude of farmers toward merchant collector as much as 128.77 including of good measurement category that is with the value of scale 106,99–142,64. The attributes pay cash, give a loan, keeping agreements / promises, fast service and good wassuperiority attribute and should maintainedby merchant collector. Attribute pay cash was the highest dominant attribute from the level of confidence and the level of important. Key words: Farmer, attitude, merchant collector.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to best out the effect of water hyacinth compost aplication and plantdistance, and to got dose of water hyacinthcompost   toward growth and production of union. This research was conducted at the technical plantation unit of experimental garden of Riau University's Agricultural Faculty from August to November 2017 using factorial arranged in randomized block design consists of 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor of water hyacinthcompost are 10 ton.haˉ¹, 15 ton.haˉ¹, 20 ton.haˉ¹, and 25 ton.haˉ¹. The second factor planting distanceis 10 cm x 20 cm, 15 cm x 20 cm and 20 cm x 20 cm. The data obtained were tested further by Duncan's multiple-range test of 5%.The interaction of water hyacinthcomposting andplanting distance no significant effect on all observation parameters. The interaction of water hyacinthcomposti doses 25 ton.ha-¹ at plant spacing of 15 cm x 20 cm appears to be the best dose to increase leaf count per clump, tuber bulbs, and tuber weight per plot of red onion. Keywords:Onion, compost, planting distance

Abstract

This research aims to know response of interaction between liquid biofertilizer formulatied and NPK manure and also to get the best combination treatment on the growth of caccao seedling in subsoil medium of ultisol. The research has been conducted at Experimental Garden of Agriculture Faculty University of Riau from      April to September 2017. Using completely randomized design, consisted of two  factor with three replication. The first factor was liquid biofertilizier formulated  with three level. and the second factor was NPK manure with four level. Data      were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and the means were              compared with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%.The      result shows that the interaction between biofertilizier formulated and  NPK         manure increase the growth of caccao seedling in subsoil medium of ultisol. The  combination between biofertilizier of palm oil mill waste water formulating          35 ml/seed and 3,75 g/seed gave the best response in increasing plant height,        number of leaves and root length of caccao seedling. Keywords : cacao, biofertilizier, NPK.
