Abstract

Cow Urine Liquid Compost is a waste nitrogen-containing compounds, water, minerals, hormone auxin and other metabolic products that are useful for plant growth. Giving liquid compost into the soil of cow urine is beneficial to improve soil structure and add the availability of nutrients in the soil. This research aims to determine the interaction of liquid composting of cow urine and NPK fertilizer on peanut crop production as well as to get the best dosage. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from November 2016 until January 2017 using a randomized block design which consist of two factors and three replications, where: Factor I (dosing cow urine liquid compost) that is: without giving cow urine liquid compost, concentration of 20% with a dose of 1:38 l per plot, concentration of 30% with a dose of 1:38 l per plot and a concentration of 40% with a dose of 1:38 l per plot. Factor II (NPK), that is: without dosing NPK, 27 g per plot, 54 g per plot and 81 g per plot. Interaction of cow urine liquid compost and NPK showed a significant effect on number of primary branches and production per plot of peanut. The highest production of peanut crop obtained by giving cow urine liquid compost at concentration of 40% and NPK 81 and 54 g per plot with a yield that is 1291,8 - 1272.0 g per plot. Keywords: liquid compost, cow urine, NPK and peanuts

Abstract

This research aims:1) to identify social capital rice farmersgroup in Rimba Melintang subdistric. 2) toidentify the empowerment level of rice farmersgroup in Rimba Melintang subdistric. 3) toidentify the correlation of social capital and the empowerment level of rice farmers group in Rimba Melintang subdistric. This research uses a survey method that consist of 63 farmers as respondents who were selected purposively. To identifythe social capital and empowerment  in this research using a descriptive qualitative method. To identify the correlation of social capital and empowerment in this research using graph percentage method. The result showed that: 1) implementation of social capital for beginner class farmers group was low due to not all of elements of social capital were executed. For advanced and intermediate classes of farmers group, the implementation of social capital was high due to the all elements of social capital have been executed. 2) The empowerment for beginner class farmers group was low, while the empowerment for advanced and intermediate classes of farmers group was high. 3) The percentage of social capital for beginner class was 39.47% followed by empowerment 41.67%. The percentage of social capital for advanced class was 81.58% followed by empowerment 83.33%, while the percentage of social capital for intermediate class was 86.84% followed by empowerment 100%.Keywords:Social capital, Empowerment, Correlation, Farmers group

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of POC banana skin nutrition and the use of plant medium and to obtain the best combination of treatments on the growth and yield of hydroponic cultivated tomato plants. This research was conducted in Experimental Garden of Agricultural Faculty of Riau University, Pekanbaru from June to October 2017. This study used a complete randomized design (RAL). The first factor is POC nutrients of banana skin with concentrations of: 20 ml.l-1 water, 35 ml.l-1 water, and 50 ml.l-1 water. The second factor is planting medium that is Charcoal husk, Cocopeat and Charcoal husk + cocopeat (with ratio 1: 1). The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, flowering age, percentage of flower to fruit, number of fruit crops, age of first harvest, weight per fruit, fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant. Provision of POC banana peel 35 ml.l-1 water in husk charcoal medium to increase the growth of plant height, the percentage of flowers into fruit, the number of fruit crops and the weight of fruit crops. Keywords: nutrition, planting medium, hydroponics

Abstract

Incubator of agribusiness is one of watermelon production center in Pekanbaru City. The land on Agribusiness Incubator is very suitable to grow watermelon, it is possible if planted watermelon produced will be good and quality. This research aims to determine the cost, revenue, and income of watermelon farming in the Agribusiness Incubator and to know whether the watermelon farming in the Agribusiness Incubator has been efficient. This research uses primary data and secondary data. Sampling technique in this research is Census method that is by taking all watermelon farmer in Agribusiness Incubator University of Riau, that is 6 farmers of watermelon. The analysis used qualitative and quantitative. Research shows that the production cost of watermelon farming in the incubator is Rp.13.025.148. Average production is Rp13.250 Kg with the selling price per Kg of Rp.2500. The average gross income of watermelon farming is Rp.33.125.000 while the average net income of Rp.20.099.852. The value of R/C Ratio and B/C Ratio of watermelon agribusiness incubator is 2,5. So, the additional benefit or acceptance is greater than the additional cost. Based on the R/C Ratio and B/C Ratio, it can be concluded that watermelon farming is feasible to be developed because it is very profitable.Key Words: Farming, efficiency, cost of farming, income.

Abstract

Water availability is a major factor limiting the production rate of oil palm plantations. Availability of water for palm oil plants in the field is obtained from rainfall. The research was conducted at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V Tandun Estate, Riau Province, for three months starting in June until August 2016. This study uses secondary data available on the administration of the garden. Secondary data for analysis include TBS monthly production data for 5 years (2011-2015), the data age of the plant 5, 10 and 20 years after planting, rainfall data and rainy day for 9 years (2007-2009). The analytical method used is analasis multiple linear regression and correlation models tested for feasibility with the classical assumption test including normality test, heteroscedasticity test and multicollinearity test. Regression analysis showed that variable rainfall and rainy days significantly affected on alpha 1% (Sig <α 0,01) to FFB production at the age of 5 years. Results F-count of 29.07 with a significance value of 0.00. The coefficient of determination (R2) obtained 63.8%. This means that 63.8% of FFB production variations can be explained by the variation of the variables used and the remaining 36,2% is explained by the other variables not incorporated into the model. Regression analysis equation on a 5-year-old plant was Y = 414633.827 + 2530.523 X1 - X2 21848,726. Results of correlation analysis at 5 years old plants showed variable rainfall and rainy days have a very strong relationship. Correlation value of rainfall and rainy days and 0.720 - 0.543.Keywords: rainfall, raining, FFB production.

Abstract

Instant drink is a processed food product in powder form, easily soluble in water, practical in its presentation, and has a large surface area. The purpose of this study was to obtain the right combination of fruit and lemon meat combinations so as to produce instant drinks that meet SNI 01-4320.1996 and get consumers. The treatment in this study is P1 = nutmeg extract: lemon fruit extract (90:10), P2 = nutmeg extract: lemon fruit extract (80:20), P2 = nutmeg extract:lemon extract (80:20), P3 = nutmeg extract: lemon fruit extract (70:30), and P4 = nutmeg bark extract: lemon fruit extract (60:40). The parameters observed were water, ash , total sugar, antioxidant activity test and sensory test of aroma, color, taste, texture and overall assessment. The data obtained were statistically tested using variance. If F count is greater or equal to F table, the analysis will continue with the DNMRT test at the level of 5%. The results of variance showed that variations in the addition of lemon extract had a significant effect on water, ash, total sugar , antioxidant and descriptive sensory assessments on color parameters, aroma fineness and overall hedonic taste. The best research results of instant powder in treatment P4 (60% nutmeg bark extract ratio: 40% lemon red extract) with a moisture  of 1.72%, ash 1.29%, sugar  33.67% antioxidant 111.84 ppm, has lemon flavour, tastes lemon, and has a smooth texture and is light brown to slightly yellow in color, and overall favored by panelists. Keywords :instant powder, nutmeg, lemons

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain the best concentration of sugar and the amount of fruit extracts in makingAverrhoa bilimbiL.syrup based on the quality of physical, chemical and organolepticresults test produced syrup. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment in this study were GB1 : 50% sugar with 50% fruit ectracts(w/v), GB2: 55% sugar with 45% fruit extracts(w/v), GB3 : 60% sugar with 40% fruit extracts (w/v), GB4: 65% sugar with 35% fruit ectracts(w/v) andGB5: 70% sugar with 30% fruit extracts(w/v). Data obtained were treated by the analysis analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan’s New Multiple RangeTest(DNMRT) the level 5%. Based on the research can be concluded that comparison Averrhoa bilimbiL. extract and sugar significantly affect on the value of pH, sucrose concentration, viscosity, color, aroma, taste descriptively but no significant effect on the color, aroma, taste and overall assessment basis hedonic. The best treatment that has fulfilled SNI syrup isGB5with a ratio of sugar and Averrhoa bilimbiL. Extract 70%: 30%. The result of syrup has a pH value of 4.32, sucrose concentration67.42%, viscosity 1708.33 cP with description color is brownish yellow, rather flavorful Averrhoa bilimbiL., sweet taste slightly sour and panelistsfavoredoverall. Abstract

Palm oil (Elais guineensis Jacq.) Is an oil-producing plantation which is an important component for people's economy, among others in the absorption of manpower, and as a source of foreign exchange. This Study were aimed to Know the supply chain performance of FFB in palm oil mill Factory PTPN V Sei Pagar. The study started from December 2016 until March 2017.  The respondents of this study were taken by accidental sampling. Data analysis using qualitative and quantitative analysis The results showed, in the upstream supply chain, the supply of TBS raw materials came from 5 gardens, namely: core garden, plasma, KKPA, other gardens and third parties. The amount of FFB supply of each garden is 21,937,600 kg, 35,995,550 kg, 5,287,110 kg, 2,313,680 kg, and 92,819,310 kg. In the internal management is known, the number of factory working hours amounted to 5.296 hours / year with CPO production of 29,524,610 kg and kernel production of 7,986,410 kg. In the downstream supply chain is known, the processed palm fresh fruit bunches of CPO are sold to 7 different companies through one transporter agent, while the kernel distribution is done through 3 transporter agents with the same purpose.Keywords: supply, chain, Oil Palm, kernel.

Abstract

Bangle rhizome plant is a medicinal plant that is often used as medicinal drugs because it contains flavonoid compounds. The purpose of this research is to get the right ratio between bangle rhizome and cinnamon bark so as to produce instant drink with good quality.This experiment was conducted experimentally using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 4 replications and followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) test at 5%. The treatments were BK1 (90:10), BK2 (80:20), BK3 (70:30), and BK4 (60:40). The results of the study, treatment of BK4 is the best treatment is the best treatment including 1,71% moisture content, ash content of 1,37%, total sugar content 44,28, antioxidant levels 97.89 ppm, and sensory assessment is relatively preferable, especially in the aroma and taste. Keywords: Instant Drinks, Rhizome Bangle, Cinnamon Bark

Abstract

One of the non-timber forest products that have the potential to be developed of honey from  Trigona  spp. which have cultivated in the area of forest by community. Trigona spp. is one of bees without sting. Many  Trigona spp. defend themselves with  biting their enemy. This bees will biting their enemy or burn their enemy  with dissolved chemical alkali. The lack of information and understanding about potential of Trigona spp. Cultivation and utlization arround forbidden forest in Rumbio customary also the unmaximal benefiting by community arround forbidden area. The purpose of this research to understand community interest and perception toward Trigona spp. cultivation arround forbidden forest in rumbio customary. This research has be done in the forbidden forest area, Siboghia, Rumbio Village, Kampar District, Riau Province. The sample thad been  used is purposive sampling.  Respondents that has been selected for this reasearch are 30 peoples from forbidden community. Respondents living passed arround forbidden forest, and had a farm in area, as the main data source of this research. Based on this research, it can be seen that community interest and perception toward Trigona spp. cultivation are good. The respondents not only know about the type and physiology of Trigona spp., but also know the habitats and products of Trigona spp. The knowledge of respondent still not enough. But the interest of respondents to cultivating Trigona spp. Is sufficient. Keywords : public perception, interest, Trigonaspp.
