Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction effect of giving NPK fertilizer dosage with the concentration of washed rice water, the influence of a single factor giving a dose of NPK fertilizer and the concentration of washed rice water to the yield of tomato plants (Lycopersicum Esculentum Mill.).This study used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRD) consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor in administering NPK (P) doses consisted of four levels, P0: Without NPK fertilizer, P1: NPK 125 kg.ha-1, P2: NPK 250 kg.ha-1 and P3: NPK 375 kg.ha-1. The second factor is the concentration of washed rice water (L) consisting of four levels, L0: 0%, L1: 50%, L2: 75% and L3: 100%. The data were analyzed statistically using a variety of linear model examination, the data had significant effect followed by an Honest Significant Difference test (BNJ) at the level of 5%. The parameters observed the age parameters of flower appearance, age of first harvest, number of fruits per plant, weight per plant, weight per fruit and fruit yield per hectare.The results showed that the interaction of NPK fertilizer and washed rice water concentration significantly affected the parameters of fruit weight per plant, weight per fruit and fruit yield per hectare, but it did not significantly influence the age parameters of flower appearance, age of first harvest and number of fruits per plant. Provision of 375 kg.ha-1 of NPK fertilizer and the concentration of 75% washed rice water accelerated the age of flower appearance and age of the first harvest, the highest number of fruits, fruit weight per plant, weight per fruit and highest yield per hectare in tomato plants.Keywords :Plant tomatoes, NPK, Washed rice water

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of husk charcoal and interaction of husk charcoal paddy and P fertilizer are good for increasing the yield of sweet corn on peatlands. The research was carried out on peat land, Jl. Manunggal, Tuah Madani Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. This research was conducted for 4 months starting from September to December 2017. The study was carried out experimentally using factorial randomized block design (RBD). the first factor is a combination of husk charcoal mixture A1 = husk charcoal 2.5 ton.ha-1, A2 = husk charcoal 5 ton.ha-1, A3 = husk charcoal 7.5 ton.ha-1. The second factor is TSP fertilizer dosage, P0 = TSP fertilizer 50 kg.ha.-1, P1 = TSP fertilizer 100 kg.ha.-1, P2 = TSP fertilizer 150 kg.ha-1. The parameters observed were leaf area, plant growth rate, harvest  is day, weight of cob per 6 m2, weight per cob with screw, weight per cob without screw, cob length and cob diameter. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with variance and continued with a DNMRT further test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the interaction of rice husk charcoal and P fertilizer significantly affected the plant growth rate, leaf area, weight per cob per 6 m2, weight per cob with screw, weight per cob without screw, cob length and cob diameter. The dose of rice husk charcoal 7.5 ton.ha-1 and fertilizer P 150 kg.ha.-1 give higher corn crop production which is 9,173 kg per 6 m2 / 15.25 ton.ha-1.Keywords: sweet corn, husk charcoal, P fertilizer , Peatlands.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to get the best of microalgae (Chlorella sp.) symbiosis with variation of Agrobost to decreasing  pollution level of palm oil mill effluent (POME) according to standard quality.  This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications.  The  treatments  in this addition was microalgae Chlorella sp. as much 800 ml/L (Abundance of cells 6,3 x 106 cell/ml) of POME with some variations concentrations of Agrobost (0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%).  The data obtained were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level.  The result showed that the addition of Agrobost had significant affect for DO, Nitrate, and Phosphate.  The treatment chosen from the result of this research was the P4treatment showed the highest level of reduction which had the value of Phospate of 61,05%, Nitrate of 77,63%, and increases in the DO of 564,49%. Keywords: Palm oil mill effluent, microalgae Chlorella sp., Agrobost.

Abstract

Rubber seed oil are not currently used optimally, due to the high content of cyanide and free fatty acid. Cyanide can be derived by soaking process, and free fatty acid can be decreased by addition of noni extract.This research aims to study the effect of noni extracton the peroxide value and sensory characteristic of rubber seed oil. Research method used Completely Randomized Design which consists of 4 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times. Treatments of noni extract addition were 40%, 45%, 50%, and 55% of the total weight material. Data were statistically analyzed by using Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan New Multiple Range Test at 5% level.  Results of the analysis showed that the addition of  noni extract was significantly effected on peroxide value, but not significantly effected on smell and colour of rubber seed oil. Based on this research, the best treatment was 45% noni extract addition which had average content of peroxide value 0,27meq/kg. Sensory assessment of rubber seed oil by panelist showed that the oil had a rancid smell and golden yellow colour. Keywords:Rubber seed oil, cyanide, free fatty acid, noni extract.

Abstract

The purpose of this study ware to obtain the effect of drying time of antioxidant activity and to obtain quality of herbal tea ketepeng cina leaf (Cassia alata L.).  This study used a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 replications.  The treatments used were drying time P1 (drying 110 minutes), P2 (130 minutes), P3 (150 minutes), P4 (170 minutes) and P5 (190 minutes).  Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level.  The results showed that the drying time significantly affected yield, moisture content, ash, crude fiber, antioxidant activity, and sensory assessment (descriptive and hedonic) but didn’t significantly affected on ash content.  The treatment chosen from the results of this research was drying time P2(130 minutes).  Treatment of P2 has a yield 49.70%, water content 7.17%, ash of 1.24%, crude fiber 15.48%, and antioxidant activity (IC50) 60,18 ppm.  The test of sensory descriptive and hedonic of herbal tea ketepeng cina leaf from treatment P2 showed that the color of brewed tea was yellow, the aroma of brewed tea was scented ketepeng cina leaf, and taste steeping tea was astringent.  The overall assessment of herbal tea ketepeng cina leaf was rather preferred by the panelists. Keywords: herbal tea, ketepeng cina, antioxidant activity, and drying time.

Abstract

Setothosea asigna is a major pest that requires attention to oil palm plantations. One effort to do pest control  S. asigna is to use entomopathogenic fungi. The entomopathogenic fungi have the prospect to be developed because it is safe for the environment and available in nature. The objectives of this research were to obtain a better concentration of entomopathogenic fungi local B. bassiana and local C. militaris to control nettle caterpillar S. asigna at oil palm plantations. The experiment arranged in Complete Randomized Design. Research carried out experiments of  7 treatment with 4 replication so that obtainable 28 unit trial. The treatments were without entomopathogenic fungi 0 g/l of water, B. bassiana 25 g/l of water, B. bassiana 50 g/l of water, B. bassiana 75 g/l of water, C. militaris 25 g/l of water, C. militaris 50 g/l of water, C. militaris 75 g/l of water. The results showed that entomopathogenic fungi local C. militaris is better used to control nettle caterpillar pests S. asigna compared with entomopathogenic fungi local B. bassiana. Concentration of  local C. militaris 25 g/l of water with conidia density 58.5 x 107 kon/ml is capable of causing a early death nettle caterpillar S. asigna 24 hours after application, lethal time 50 is 94.50 hours after application and 82.50% total mortality. Keyword: Nettle caterpillar Setothosea asigna van Eecke, entomopathogenic fungi local, Beauveria bassiana Vuill and Cordyceps militaris (L:Fr).

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria have characteristics that cause these bacteria as probiotics. Some characteristics of probiotics are not only able to survive in the gastrointestinal tract and also have the ability to reproduce in the digestive tract, but these bacteria can survive and are able to live on acidic conditions of chloride with low pH and bile salts. The purpose of this study was to obtain resistance or viability of lactic acid bacteria isolated from okara at pH 2.5 and 3 for 90 min and 0.5% concentration of bile salt (oxgall). This study used isolates A.23.4, A.23.2, and A.22.4 isolated from okara taken from soybean milk making industrial home. The isolate viability data was tabulated and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that isolates A.23.4, A.23.2 and 22.4 survived and were able to grow well at pH 2.5 and had survival 99.786, 99,773, and 99.899% respectively, while at pH 3 viability were 99.887, 99.824, and 99.836% for 1.5 hours incubation. Isolates A.23.4, 23.2, and 22.4 were able to survive and grow well in MRS Broth medium plus oxgall 0.5% during incubation for 5 hours and viability of 99.759, 99.657, and 99.619% respectively.  From this study, it can be concluded that the three isolates of LAB had potential as probiotics candidates, because they have relatively high viability (> 90%) on low pH and bile salt.Keywords:  lactic acid bacteria, probiotic, viability, chloride acid, oxgall, isolate

Abstract

 Probiotic fermented milk by Lactobacillus caseisubsp. casei R-68 with skim milk as a raw material expected to produce probiotik fermented milk with more complete nutriotional value and health benefits. The purpose of this study was to determine the best fermentation on the quality of fermented milk. This study used a Completely Randomized Design with six treatmentsnamely P1 = fermentation time 6 hours, P2 = fermentation time 9 hours, P3 = fermentation time 12 hours, P4 = fermentation time 15 hours, P5 = fermentation time 18 hours,P6 = fermentation time 21 hours and three replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by DNMRT at 5% level. The results show that the fermentation time significantly (P <0.05) influencedthe sensory test by descriptive and hedonic on taste and viscosity, but did not significantly affect (P> 0.05) the moisture, fat, ash contentsas well asthe sensory test by descriptive and hedonic on color and the sensory test by descriptive on viscosity. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the export position of unprocessed product by Indonesia agricultural in ASEAN countries and competitiveness exports of unprocessed product of agricultural in ASEAN countries for the main destination countries. In this research the data used is secondary data, that is the time series data during 10 years in period 2005-2014. The analysis method used is Constant Market Share (CMS). The export position of unprocessed product by Indonesia agricultural is highest value in ASEAN. The next position is Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Philippines. For the abilty of competitiveness, the highest position is Thailand. At the same time the next position is Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. For the results of CMS analysis during period 2005-2014 based on four effects is shows the effect of influenced the competitiveness of agricultural unprocessed products are the effect of standard growth. Keywords: Agricultural unprocessed products, Competitiveness, Constant Market

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of the amount of water flow from the boom irrigation system with an attack of bacterial leaf blight in seedlings A. crassicarpa. This research has been conducted in Kerinci Central Nursery (KCN) Plant Nursery Acacia PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP) in the District of Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan Riau from September to November 2014. The study was conducted experimentally using correlation method to determine the relationship of the amount of water flow irrigation systems boom (x) with an attack of bacterial leaf blight (y). The research was done by measuring the amount of water flow from irrigation boom during watering. Data were statistically analyzed by simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the relationship the amount of water flow from the irrigation system is positively correlated boom of 36.8% (increases linearly and have not yet reached the optimum point) to the emergence of the first symptoms of bacterial leaf  Keywords: A. crassicarpa, the amount of irrigation water flow and bacterial leaf blight boom
