Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of reed trichocompost on the growth and yield of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). This research has been conducted on the Experimental Station of Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru from July to September 2017.  This study was performed experimentally by using completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of six treatments and three replications. Each unit of the experiment was consisted of three  crop cress. The treatments of reed trichocompost were, 0: without trichocompost. , T1: 2 ton. ha-1 (200 g. m-2 reed trichocompost., T2 : 4 ton.ha-1 (400 g.m-2) reed trichocompost, T3 : 6 ton.ha-1 (600 g.m-2) reed trichocompost dose, T4  : 8 ton.ha-1 (800 g.m-2) reed trichocompost dose, T5 : 10 ton.ha-1 (1000 g.m-2) reed  trichocompost. Parameters those observed in this study were plant height (cm), leave number (blade), leaf area (cm2), fresh weight (g), and fresh weight feasible for consumption (g). Data were analyzed statistically, with by using ANOVA and Ducan’s at the level of 5%. The results showed reed trichocompost can improve plant growth, especially height, leave number, leaf area, fresh weight and fresh weight feasible for consumption. Keywords: Lactuca sativa L. and reed trichocompost.

Abstract

Germ Plasm Preservation Area is a preservation area type in its original habitat in the production tree in order to preserve germ plasm both from plants and animals as well as microorganism. This research aims to know the tree variety composition and variety diversity index value in Germ Plasm Preservation Area of Langgam Estate. The data collection method used in this research is purposive sampling. Based on the obtained research result, variety composition in Germ Plasm Preservation Area is 37 varieties in 21 families in which Anacardiaceae family is the most abundant of 5 varieties. The index value of tree variety diversity obtained based on vegetation level is of 2.59 for seedling level, 2.89 for sapling level, 2.76 for staking level, and 2.86 for tree level. The tree variety diversity in Germ Plasm Preservation Area in every growth level is in medium category with 1 < H’ < 3. Keywords: Variety composition, Variety diversity, Preservation area

Abstract

This study aimed was to got exact formulation of combination of papaya fruit puree and tomato puree in the manufacture of fruit leather. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments used against fruit leather were PT1 (papaya fruit puree 65%, tomato puree 35%), PT2 (papaya fruit puree 55%, tomato puree 45%), PT3 (papaya fruit puree 50%, tomato puree 50%), PT4 (45% papaya fruit puree, tomato puree 55%) and PT5 (35% papaya fruit puree, tomato puree 65%). Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level. The results showed that the use of papaya fruit puree and tomato puree significantly effect on water content, ash content, acidity (pH), fiber content, total sugar content and sensory analysis. Fruit leather chosen from the results of this study was fruit leather treatment PT2 which has moisture content 11,86%, ash content 1,03%, degree of acidity 4,39, fiber content 3,12%, levels total sugar 36,45%, reddish orange color, flavor slightly fruity papaya and tomatoes, slightly sour taste, chewy texture and overall assessment fruit leather preferred by the panelists. Keywords : Fruitleather, papaya fruit puree and tomato puree.

Abstract

This research aimed to get the best concentration in manufacturing pumpkin jam (Cucurbitamoschata Durch). The testing method was randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 multiplications. The treatment in this research were A1 (pectin 0.5% and 99.5% pumpkin porridge), A2 (pectin 0.75% and 99.25% pumpkin porridge), A3 (pectin 1% and 99% pumpkin porridge), A4 (pectin 1.25% and 98,75% pumpkin porridge) and A5 (pectin 1,5% and 98,5% pumpkin porridge). The data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level. Thus, it had been proven that the addition of pectin significantly affected the results of the analysis. The choosen treatment consisted of 1.5% pectin, 98.5% pumpkin porridge (A5) which containt 46.54% water, 0.125% ash, 66.10% sucrose, 0.49% crude fiber and 73.01% dissolved solids. The description and hedonic results proved thatthe scent and taste was that of a yellow squash, with softtexture and brownish yellow in color, which overall were preferred by the panelists. Keywords: jam, pectin, yellow squash, pumpkin.

Abstract

The purpose of this research effect in interaction sawdust ash and NPK Mg compound fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedlings and to get the best combination for the growth of oil palm seedlings phase main nursery. This research was conducted in the experimental field and Laboratory of Production Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in Campus Binawidya Km 12.5 Simpang BaruPekanbaru. Have been implemented from Desember 2015 to Maret 2016.The research used Completely Randomized Design factorial that consisting of two factors. The first factor is sawdust ash(A) consists of four levels. The second factor is the NPK Mg fertilizer (N), which consists of 3 levels. Parametersmeasured were : seedling height increment,increase of leaves number, increase of hump diameter, root volume,seedling weight dry, ratio crown and root.Data obtained from the research results were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance followed by a further test of Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The results showed giving sawdust ash and NPK Mg compound fertilizer no interaction in all parameters the observation of oil palm seedling except ratio crown and root.Keywords : sawdust ash. Abstract

Counseling is a non-school education system in which adults and youth learn by doing. Counseling is a partnership between government, landowners and communities, providing care and education planned to find the needs of the community. The ultimate goal is the advancement of society. Rice is a political commodity that is very strategic because it is a staple food for more than 95 percent of Indonesia's population, rice farming is a provider of employment and as a source of income for about 21 million farming households and the benchmark of food availability for Indonesian. Tujuan research is to determine the role of extension workers to farmers in the sub-district Sarilamak Nagari Harau City District Fifty? And to determine the factors supporting and inhibiting factors to the agents in carrying out counseling in the village of Nagari Harau Sarilamak District of Kota District Fifty? The method used is survey method with a sample of 93 farmers. The role of extension to a group of rice farmers in a category is, extension means quite a role to a group of rice farmers in the village of Nagari Harau Sarilamak Subdistrict District Fifty State. Supporting factor for the extension in implementing counseling in the village of Nagari Harau Sarilamak District of Kota District Fifty is the use of seed / fertilizer quality seeds, and Supply / Water Management. While the inhibiting factors to the agents in carrying out the repair counseling is how to do farming, control of pests of plants, Treatment Harvest and Post Harvest and Marketing.     Keywords: Role of Extension, Rice Farmer

Abstract

The Research aimed to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer concentration and interval application on growth and production of mung bean in order to get dosage. This research was conducted at the experimental station of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University, from january 2017 to april 2017, by using randomized block design (RBD) method, 3 replicarions, which consist of two factors. The first factor is, the concentration of liquid oraganic fertilizer dosage consisted of 4 levels (0, 15, 25 and 35 ml/l) and the second factor is, interval application of organic liquid fertilizer, consisted 3 levels (5, 10 and 15 days). The parameters observed were plants height, brunch number, flowering age, pod total, filled out pod percentation, 100 seed weight, and production per plot (4 m2). Observationts of each parameter were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and Duncan's new multiple range test (DNMRT) with level of 5%. The results show that the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer 15 ml/l and interval 10 days is the appropriate dosage to increase the growth and production of mung bean.Keywords: Mung Bean, Liquid organic fertilizer

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the position of the product and the best original tempe chips attributes from various kinds of original tempe chips are used, such as Qtela Tempe Chips, Ayu Bersaudara Tempe Chips, N & R Tempe Chips, Puspa Malay Tempe Chips, Reza Snack Tempe Chips, Big One Chips, MAK Snack Tempe Chips, Winda Snack Tempe Chips. It aims to determine the level of consumer preference to a product. In addition there is still a lack of effort in developing products towards the manufacturer at this time. This research is conducted by mapping methods of internal and external preferences with objects of eight different product types. Sensory analysis used was hedonic and descriptive test. The results of cluster analysis of hedonic test and the main component analysis of the descriptive test were then analyzed by using the preference mapping technique, with the sensory attributes used in tempe chips products were greasy, oily, savory, bitter, salty, crispy, brittle, thick, soybean, rancid, From the results of the analysis conducted, the Qtela tempe chips products, Ayu Bersaudara tempe chips and Winda Snack tempe chips most favored by the panelists.keyword: Original Tempe Chips, AHC, PCA, Preference Mapping

Abstract

Fruit jam is a semi-wet food processed  product from a mixture of fruit juice and sugar. The purpose of this research was to get the best formulation of chayote and roselle petal evaluate in the jam quality. Thisresearch useda Completely Randomized Design experiment with five treatments and three replications. The  treatmentswere LSR1 (chayote puree and roselle petal puree 90:10), LSR2 (chayote puree and rosella petal puree  80:20), LSR3 (chayote puree and roselle petal puree 70:30) and LSR4 (chayote puree and roselle petal puree 60:40). The value of observation were analyzed using Analysis of Varians and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test on 5% level. The result showed that the ratio ofchayote and roselle petals puree significantly affected acidity, moisture, ash , pectin and sucrose contents, antioxidant activity, descriptive test of color, flavour, taste and texture. The best treatment was LSR4 with moisture content 19.42%, ash content 0.26%, pectin 2.63%, sucrose 64.80%,  antioxidantactivity 9.40 ppm, dark red color, flavourful rosella, sweet taste little acid, and soft texture of jam.                                                                                                    Keyword: Jam, chayote,rosella petal.

Abstract

This research to determine the interaction of inorganic fertilizer (Urea, TSP, KCl)and banana peelliquid organic fertilizer (POC) to find the best results on the growth and yield of red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.).This study was conducted for four months (March-June, 2016), the Experimental Station, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Pekanbaru,using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial,consists of two factors and three replications.The results were analyzed by analysis of variance and Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The study suggest thatthe interaction of inorganic fertilizer and banana peel liquid organic fertilizer (POC) did not increasehe stealDiameter, flowering age after transplanting, fruit length, and Shoot to Root Ratiobut give increaseof plant height, diameter of the fruit, yield, number of fruits, and fresh fruit weight.Urea of 1.25, 2.59 TSP, KCl 2 g / 10 kg of soil and banana peel liquid organic fertilizer (POC) 300 ml / literprovide improvement on chili the growth and yield.. Keywords: Chili Plant, Inorganic Fertilizer, Fertilizer POC Banana Peel and Plant Growth.
