Abstract

This research aim to get the interaction of manure and water volume on the growth and yield of edamame soybean and determine the combination that gives the highest production on the growth and yield of edamame soybean. This research was conducted at the Screen House Stadion of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau on January 2015 until March 2015. This research arranged Completely Rendomized Design (CRD) with factor (I) composed of three (5 tons/ha, 10 tons/ha, 15 tons/ha) and factor (II) composed of three  (50% water volume, 75% water volume, 100% water volume). The data analyzed by (ANOVA) and tested further by Duncan Multiple Test Level (DNMRT) at 5%. The observed parameters are plant height, days to flowering, percentage of effective root nodules, plant dry weight, number of branches, number of plant pods, percentage filled pods, weight of plant pods, seeds weight a plant and number of seeds a plant. Interaction manure and water volume improve on percentage filled pod and doesn`t improve on plants height, days to flowering, percentage of effective root nodules, plant dry weight, number of branches,number of plant pods, weight of plant pods, seeds weight a plant and number of seeds a plant. Manure 5 tons/ha and 50% water volume is a combination treatment of the highest. Keywords : Edamame Soybean, Manure, Water Volume

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of giving compost contains cow rumen and get a dose of composted cow rumen content on seedling growth of the cocoa plant(Theobroma cacao L.). This research had been conducted on the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from April to August 2015. This research was conducted in the form of non-factorial experiment arranged in the form of completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 5 treatment with each dose of composted cow rumen contents that (K0 ): without composted cow rumen contents, (K1): 25 g/plant (K2): 50 g/plant, (K3): 75 g/plant and (K4): 100 g/plant. Each unit treatment was repeated 4 times to obtain 20 units of the experiment and the experimental unit comprises three plants, two of which are used as plant samples. Parameters measured were seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, root volume, the ratio of crown roots and dry weight. Results of the analysis will be followed by a test of Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. Giving Composting cow rumen content with a dose of 50 g/plant, 75 g/plant and 100 g/plant gave outgrowth good cocoa crop seeds in the parameter leaf area, root volume, the ratio of crown roots and dry weight of seedlings.   Keywords :compost, cow rumen contents, seeds, cocoa.

Abstract

Rubber plant (Hevea brasiliensis Muell Arg) was one of important plantation commodity as second source of foreign exchange after palm oil. The main result of rubber tree is latex as raw material for manufacture of transport equipment, medical and household appliances. This study aimed to determine the effect of the use some natural plant growth regulators on the growth of budded stump and get the best of natural plant growth regulators for budded stump rubber plant. This research has been carried out in technical services unit  of Agriculture Faculty, Riau University. This research was conducted with completely randomized design (CDR) consisting of 4 treatment namely : without giving PGR, giving coconut water, green bean extract, and young bamboo extract. Each treatment was repeated 4 times with each unit consisting of 3 seedling experiment and total number of seedling was prepare 48 seedling. The data were analyzed used analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued by least significant difference (LSD) at 5%. The parameters measured were : buds appear time, shoot length, number of petiole, shoot diameter and leaf area. The result showed that provision of coconut water with 750 cc/l concentration showed the best growth of budded stump rubber plant at parameters buds appear time, shoot length, number of petiole and shoot diameter.   Keyword : rubber plant, budded stump, plant growth regulators

Abstract

The research aims to know the effect of giving Trichokompos rice straw and phosphorus manure and to obtain the better dose for the growth and the product of soybean plants. The research used Random Design Group (RAK) that consists of two factors. The first factor is Trichokompos rice straw consists of four levels, such as 0 ton/ha (T0), 2,5 ton/ha (T1), 5 ton/ha (T2), 7,5 ton/ha (T3), and the second factor is phosphorus manure (TSP) that consists of three levels such as 0 kg/ha P2O5 (P0), 30 kg/ha P2O5 (P1), 60 kg/ha P2O5 (P2). The data gained has been analyzed by ANOVA and followed by Duncan’s multiple range test at the level of 5 %. The result showed that the combination treatment of Trichokompos rice straw and phosphorus manure gave no significant effect on all parameters of obvervation. Trichokompos  rice straw 5 ton/ha and manure P2O5 60 kg/ha get the result that tend to be higher in the number of primary branch, dry weight of plants, the number of pithy pods per plant, the number of seeds per plant, seed product per m2, and the weight of 100 dry seeds.   Keywords : Trichokompos rice straw, manure phosphorus, soybean

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of interaction giving palm oil waste sludge and NPKMg (15:15:6:4) fertilizer on Ultisol and get the best treatment to the growth of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) seedlings in main nursery. The research was conducted at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research was conducted from March to July 2015. The research used Completely Randomized Design factorial that consisting of two factors. The first factor is palm oil waste sludge (S) consists of 4 levels. The second factor is the NPKMg (15:15:6:4) fertilizer (P) consists of 3 levels. Both these factors resulted in 12 treatment combinations, each combination made 3 replications, so that there are 36 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 2 plants, so the total crop was 72 plants. Parameters measured were the increase seedling height, the number of leaves increase, the increase hump diameter, leaf area, root volume and dry weight. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and further tested using Duncan`s New Multiple Range Test at the level of 5%.The results of the research showed that there is interaction between giving application palm oil waste sludge and NPKMg fertilizer on increase of seed hump diameter dan seed dry weight. Combination treatment of sludge dose with 100 g/plant and NPKMg fertilizer with 10,5 g/plant is the best treatment that can be recommended to get the growth palm oil seedling in main nursery on Ultisol.   Keywords: palm oil, growth, Ultisol, palm oil waste sludge, NPKMg fertilizer

Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction effect of rice husk ash and some types of manure on the growth and production of sweet corn and get a dose of the best in peat. Research has been carried out from June to September 2015 in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Village Rimbo Panjang, Pekanbaru. The study was conducted using a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor is the rice husk ash (A), which consists of 4 levels, namely A1: 1.5 kg/plot (2.5 ton/ha), A2: 3 kg/plot (5 ton/ha), A3: 4.5 kg/plot (7.5 ton/ha), A4: 6 kg/plot (10 ton/ha) and the second factor is the manure (P) consisting of three types, namely P1: manure chicken, P2: manure goat and P3: cow manure. Parameters measured were the relative growth rate, leaf area, the ratio of crown roots, plant dry weight, while the male flowers appear, the time appears the female flowers, harvest, heavy perplot cob, cob without husk length, diameter and weight cob cob without husk. The results showed giving             7.5 ton/ha asp and chicken manure showed results highest production ie 9.93 kg/plot (16.55 ton/ha) Keywords: sweet corn, rice husk ash, manure, peat

Abstract

The research aims to look at the giving of various dose combinations Palm Empty Fruit Bunch compost (PEFB) and spacing on the growth and yield of edamame soybean and to get the best treatment combination between compost PEFB and planting distance of the growth and production of edamame soybean. Research conducted in the experimental field Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau. Research period on June until August 2014. Experiments with 4 x 3 factorial using a randomized block design (RBD). The first factor is composting palm empty fruit bunch consisting of 4 levels (5, 10, 15 and 20 ton / ha). The second factor is planting distance consists of 3 levels (10 × 20, 15 × 20 and 20 × 20 cm), combination is repeated three times respectively. The efect of each treatment combination known through Duncan multiple test 5% level. Parameters measured were leaf area, root nodule effective, flowering time, the percentage of pods pithy, pithy number of pods per plant and yield per plot. The results showed that the combination of composting palm empty fruit bunch with planting distance effect on the effective root nodules, number of pods pithy planting, production per plot but did not affect the leaf area, flowering time, the percentage of pods pithy. The highest production was found in compost treatment of palm empty fruit bunches of 20 ton / ha and distance of (15 × 20) cm with a production that is 1717.2 g / plot.   Keyword : edamame soybeans, composting palm empty fruit bunch, spacing on

Abstract

Green stink bugNezara viridula L. (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) is one of the important pest on long beans plant.One alternative that can be used to minimize the application of chemical pesticides is an extract powder from the babadotan leaf (Ageratum conyzoides L.). This research is purpose  to get the better concentration of a babadotan’s leaf powder extract (Ageratum conyzoides L.) for controllinggreen stink bug Nezara viridula L. at long beans plant. This research was conducted at the Center for Agricultural Development and Plant Pests Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from April to June 2015. This research was carried out experimentally by using completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications.Treatment consists of several concentrations of  babadotan’s leaf powder extract 75 g/l of water, the concentration of 85 g/l of water, the concentration of 90 g/l of water, the concentration of 95 g/l of water, the concentration of 100 g/l of water. The parameters observed were the initial time of death (hours), lethal time 50 (hours), daily mortality (%),total mortality (%), lethal concentration 50 and 95 (LC50 and LC95) (%), temperature and humidity as supporting observations. The results showed that the concentration of  100 g/l of water caused total mortality 72,50%, this has not yet reached a good concentration in the control of green stink bug because not being able to control the green stink bug over 80%, while the value of LC95 obtained is greater than 10%, it is16,8% or equivalent to 168 g/l of water.   Keyword:Long bean (Vigna sinensis L.), Babadotan (Ageratum conyzoides L.), Green stink bug(Nezara viridula L.).

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the physical properties of acid Dystrudepts in the circle area of palm oil plant applied the organic mulch of Mucuna bracteata. Soil physical analysis carried out in the soil laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau, on October 2014 to February 2015. Application of organic mulch Mucuna bracteata. This research was arranged on using Completely Rendomized Design (CDR) nonfactorial that consists of            4 treatments and 4 replications . The treatments consisted of M0 (0 kg/plant), M1 (15 kg/plant), M2 (30 kg/plant) and M3 (45 kg/ plant). Parameters measured were soil moisture, soil temperature, organic matter, bulk density, total of pore space and  infiltration. Abstract

Plant oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is one of plantation crop which plays an important role for Indonesia as a mainstay commodity for export and commodity that can increase farmers’ income results. Nurseries is the initial activity in the field that aims to prepare seedlings ready for planting. The research aims to determine the effect of some types ash on the growth of oil palm seedlings and determine the type of ash is best for growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. Experimental research conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, from April to August 2015. This study uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consist of 6 treatments and 4 repeat, to obtain 24 units of trial. Treatment given, among others : without dust, ash oil palm empty bunch, ash of oil palm fruit shells, ash sawdust, ash rice husk and ash rice straw. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with further test Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. Research that has been carried out showed that giving some kind of as in oil palm seedlings show the real effect of the parameters on the increase in diameter hump and dry weight of seedlings, but the effect not real of the parameters as heigh of seedlings, increase the number of leave, root volume and ratio crown roots. Treatments sawdust ash and ash oil palm empty bunch showed better results for the growth of iol palm seedlings.   Keywords: Ash, oil palm, main nursery
