Abstract

This research is held at the greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru starts in  March to August 2016. The trial uses the factorial of Complete Random Program (RAL). The first factor of the water tension comprises of three levels, they are : (pF 1 - 1,97), (pF 2,29 - 2,54) and (pF 2,70 - 3) and the second factor of the fertilization dosage of  N, P, and K which comprises of four levels without fertilization of N, P, and K, given ½ x recommended dosage, given recommended dosage, and given 1½ x recommended dosage. The process is repeated three times. The data of observation result could be statistically analysed with ANOVA and followed by Duncan test at 5% level. The observed parametre are nutrients uptake of N, P and K, the efficiency of absorption of N, P, and K, height of plants, phase of malai's appearances, number of productive tiller, ratio of stem and root,  period of harvest, weight of 1000 paddy seeds and product efficiency. The result of this research shows the interaction of water tension and fertilisation dosage of N, P, and K visibly influnce the nutrients of N, P, and K, height of plants,  ratio of stem and root, and weight of 1000 paddy seeds. Invisibly influence to the phase of malai's appearances, period of harvest, and number of productive tiller. Combination of  water tension  pF 1 - 1,97 and fertilization dosage 1 ½ x recommeded dosage are the best combinations.Keywords: N P and K fertilizer, efficient fertilization, gogo local rice, water  tension, Ultisol

Abstract

Dry banana leaves contain beneficial compounds lignin and cellulose which is quite high and has not been utilized optimally. Therefore, the study aims to take advantage of dry banana leaves as the main material for the manufacturing of charcoal briquettes and charcoal briquettes obtain formulations are of good quality. The study was conducted experimentally using Complete Random Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications and continued with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatmentsin the research including P0 (charcoal powder dry banana leaveswithout sieve), P1 (charcoal powder dry banana leaves20 mesh), P2 (charcoal powder dry banana leaves40 mesh), P3 (charcoal powder dry banana leaves60 mesh), P4 (charcoal powder dry banana leaves80 mesh), and P5 (charcoal powder dry banana leaves100 mesh). The result of analysis of variance showed that the particle size charcoal dry banana leaves significant effect on ash content, density, calorific value and  fueled power. Selected treatment wasP3 (charcoal powder dry banana leaves 60 mesh) which has a water content 6.80%, ash content of 29.86%, a density of 0.38 g/cm3, 4646 calorific value cal/g, and fueled power 0.0016 g/sec. Keywords: briquettes, dry banana leaves, particle size.

Abstract

Eucalyptus pellita is one of plants that was developved as industrial timber plantations (ITP) and has entered third rotations in Riau. Overlay peat medium is handicap ITP business in Riau. Therefore it is urgent to determine treatment for the improvement of the peat medium. This research aims to determine influence of ash saw dust and green fertilizer type leguminoceae formulated to Eucalyptus pellita seedlings in peat medium and the best dosage to growth of Eucalyptus pellita seedlings. Research using randomized complete design (RCD) consist of five treatments and four replications and five units trial. T0 = No provision of  ash saw dust and green fertilizer type leguminoceae formulated ; T1 = 125 gr/polybag, T2 = 225 gr/polybag, T3 = 325 gr/polybag,and T4 = 425 gr/polybag. Research proved that the aplication in peat medium can increase the quality of Eucalyptus pellita seedlings. The aplication with a dosages 425 gr/polybag in peat medium is the best treatment  to percent of live (100,00%), the height growth (23,44 cm) and top root/ratio (2,00). Keywords:Eucalyptus pellita F. Abstract

The research aimed to get the good jam from soursop fruit pulp mixing with red dragon fruit pulp. This experiment research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments as follows: SN1 (soursop fruit pulp 80% : red dragon fruit pulp 20%), SN2 (soursop fruit pulp 65% : red dragon fruit pulp 35%), SN3 (soursop fruit pulp 50% : red dragon fruit pulp 50%), SN4 (soursop fruit pulp 35% : red dragon fruit pulp 65%), SN5 (soursop fruit pulp 20% : red dragon fruit pulp 80%). The result of this research showed that the mixture soursop fruit pulp with red dragon fruit pulp significantly influenced the  moisture content, total dissolved solids, fiber levels, levels of sucrose, the levels of pectin, descriptive tested (colours, aroma, flavor, and texture), hedonic tested (taste, texture and overall), but did not significantly affect the ash content, hedonic tested (colours and aroma). The treatmen SN1 (soursop fruit pulp 80% : 20% red dragon fruit pulp) produced a better jam. This jam had moisture content 21.40%, fiber level 3.59%, sucrose level 60.05%, pectin level 0.69% and hedonic tested liked by the panelists and descriptive test colours, aroma, sweetness and creamy texture more dominant. Keywords: jam, soursop fruit, red dragon fruit and mixing pureed fruit.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were 1) to analyze the structure of the income of farmers palm pattern swadaya 2) To analyze the oil palm farmers income distribution pattern of self-reliance. This research was conducted in the village of Lubuk Batu Jaya Rimpian District of Indragiri Hulu. The research method used is survey method with a sample of the study were 60 oil palm growers pattern of non-respondents. Analysis of the data for this study by calculating the income structure and income distribution. Revenue oil palm farmers in the village of Rimpian sourced from farms in the amount of Rp 41,323,366 per year and from non-agricultural sources of Rp 2,902,000 per year. The average total income of the entire oil palm farmers in the village self-supporting patterns Rimpian reached Rp 44,225,366 per year with an average of Rp 3,685,447 per month. Based on the data obtained Gini index ratio of 0.05 indicates a low inequality because it is under 0.3 Gini Index Ratio. Lorenz curve is formed from the value of approaching the perfect evenness. Thus, the distribution of income in the village oil palm farmers Rimpian not limp or have been fairly evenly evidenced by the second line of the Lorenz curve approaches the diagonal line (line equalization).Keywords: Income distribution, oil palm, pattern swadaya

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain a best combination of herbal tea from the skin of kaffir lime and celery to produce a good quality of herbal tea which preferred by the panelists.  This research used a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications.  The treatments used were combination of kaffir lime skin and celery 3:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 in making herbal tea.  Data were statistically analyzed with analysis of variance and Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5% level.  The results showed that kaffir lime skin and celery significantly effected water content, ash content, IC50, descriptive and hedonic tests on sensory assessment.  Treatment chosen from the results was the treatment of kaffir lime skin and celery 1:3.  This treatment had water content 7.56%, ash content 4.18%, and IC50 138.55 µg/mL.  The results of the treatment chosen on descriptive test of tea were kaffir lime skin and celery flavour, rather brown colour, and rather astringent taste.  The result of hedonic test showed that flavour and colour of tea were little bit preferred by panelists, taste was preferred, and assessment overall was little bit preferred by panelists. Keywords : kaffir lime skin, celery, antioxidants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving some doses of NPK fertilizer and get the best dose on the growth of mangrove seedlings (Rhizopora sp.). This research was conducted in Bantan Tengah Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted for 3 months starting from February to April 2015. This experiment was conducted experimentally based on Randomized Complete Design (RAL) with 5 treatments, and 4 replications so that there were       20 experimental units, each experimental unit consisted of 3 seeds. The treatment was  the doses NPK fertilizer that consist :  T0 = Without NPK, T1 = 3 grams NPK, T2 = 6 grams NPK, T3 = 9 grams NPK, T4 = 12 grams NPK. Parameters observed were height of seedlings, number of leaves, root volume, dry weight of seedlings and shootroot ratio. The results showed that the dosage of 12 gram showed its effect on the parameters of plant height increase, number of leaves, root volume, root canopy ratio and dry weight of seedlings. Giving with a dose of 12 grams /10 kg medium is the best dose to increase the growth of mangrove (Rhizopora sp.). Keywords: Mangrove (Rhizopora sp). And NPK fertilizer

Abstract

The research aimed to see the effect of ash of boiler, NPK fertilizer and get the best dosage to the result of pakcoy plant. The experiment was conducted in experimental station of Agriculture Faculty of Universitas Riau from April to May 2017. This research was conducted experimentally with Completely Randomized Design consisting with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor of dose of boiler ash was  400 g/m2, 600 g/m2,800 g/m2. The second factor of dose of NPK fertilizer was 20 g/ m2, 25 g/m2, 30 g/m2. Data have been statistically analyzed and examined further with Duncan New’s Multiple Range Test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the combination of ash of oil palm boiler and NPK fertilizer increased plant height, leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight of the plant and the weight of consumption of the plant. Boiler ash 600 g/m2 gave a better effect compared to giving 400 g/m2 and 800 g/m2. NPK 30 g/m2 fertilizer gave better effect compared to 20 g/m2 and 25 g/m2. Boiler ash 600 g/m2 and NPK 30 g/m2 fertilizer showed a better effect on leaf number parameter, leaf area, fresh weight and proper weight of plant pakcoy consumption. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect and the best dose application of vermicompost on the growth of the cocoa plant seeds. The research was conducted at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. From May until August 2016. This study was conducted using a completely randomized design (RAL) non factorial with 6 treatments and three replications, in order to obtain 18 units of trial. Each experimental unit consisted of 3 seeds, so there are 54 seedlings. Parameters measured were seedling height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area, the ratio of the canopy and root dry weight. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance followed by fishers LSD test at level of 5%. The results showed that the dosing vermicompost fertilizer can improve seedling height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area, dry weight and ratio of cacao seedling roots header. Vermicompost fertilizer dose of 10 ton / ha produced the highest growth in cocoa breeding. Keywords: cocoa, vermicompost

Abstract

Since grain soybean is high in protein content, nitrogen addition may be required at the time of pod development and grain filing. This research was conducted to identify the appropriate time of N application during soybean growth. The field experiment was established at experimental farm  of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, inPekanbaru, from JunetoOctober 2016. Three soybean genotypes; ie, Grobogan, Argomulyo and Kaba were planted under some timing of N applications; ie, no N applied, 25 kg kg N applied at planting, 25 kg N applied at 30 days after planting (DAP), and 25 kg N applied at planting added at the same rate at 30 DAP. The experiment was assigned in a randomized block design with 3 replications. Parametersmeasured were filled pod numbersperplant, seeds numberperplant, seed weightperplant, grain yieldm-2, 100-seed weight, oil contents and protein contents of the seed. The results showedthat the application of Nitrogen fertilizer affected yield component and grain quality ofGrobogan, Argomulyo and Kaba. Application of 25 kg N per haat planting date and added at the same rate at flowering stageresulted higher number of filled pod, grain weight per plant, grain yield per m2 and grain protein content than otherapplication timings.Keywords: Yield Potential and Grain Quality, Time ApplicationofNitrogen Fertilizer, SoybeanVarieties
