Abstract

The research aims to determine the best concentration of durian leather pectin and to repair physically and mechanically of edible film of purple sweet potato starch. The research was carried out experimentally by Completely Randomized Design with four treathments and four replications. It used different concentrations of durian leather pectin, which consist of 0, 10%, 20%, and 30%. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test test at 5% level. The parameters observed are the film thickness, the steam transmission rapid, the film solubility, tensile strength, and elongation. Results of ANOVA showed that the variation of durian’s leather pectin which influenced all parameters test. The best treatment for this research was edible film from purple sweet potato starch with adding 30% durian leather pectin.  Edible film for this treatment has 0.1280 thickness value, 5.9112 grams/m2.hour steam transmission rapid, 89.9575% solubility, 8.680MPa tensile strength, and 23.5637% elongation.   Keyword: Edible film, starch, purple sweet potato, durian leather pectin

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the net income between rubber farmers Ex UPP TCSDP pattern and Swadaya pattern in the Koto Damai Village Kampar KiriTengah District Kampar Regency . The analysis is the analysis of net income and the t test . The method used is survey by census sampling technique as much as 20 farmers Pattern Governmental and simple random sampling technique as much as 20 farmers Ex UPP TCSDP.Analysis results showed an average net income of farmers rubber Ex UPP TCSDP Pattern is 33 % larger than the SwadayaPattern . T test is greater than t table at the level of 95 %, which means there is a real difference in net income between rubber farmers Ex UPP TCSDP Pattern and Swadaya Pattern, income disparity is due to the difference in the amount of rubber production and the use of production factors between the second pattern rubber farming. Keywords: Comparison, Income, Ex UPP TCSDP Pattern, Swadaya Pattern

Abstract

Palm sap contain sugar and other nutritional components that are good for the growth of microorganism, one of which lactic acid bacteria (LAB). The purpose of this research was to isolate and identify lactic acid bacteria genus from fermented sap of Arenga pinnata.  Lactid acid bacteria were isolate in MRS agar supplemented with CaCO3 0.2%. Identificatied morpholologically including Gram staining, shape cell observation, catalase test and gases production from glucose test. Fourteen isolates were able to produce clear zone in MRS agar which supplemented by CaCO3 0.2%. The identification results showed that the fourteen isolates were Gram positive, basil form and coccus form, catalase negative and 13 isolates belong to homofermentative and one  isolate belong to heterofermentative. Further identify was then performed on the growth at different temperature (10°C, 37°C and 45°C), growth at different NaCl concentrations (4% and 6.5%) and growth at different pH (4.4 and 9.6) in 3 isolates suspected to have different characteristics. Further identify showed that all isolates can grow at temperature 10-45°C, salt concentration 0-6.5% and acid pH but can’t grow in alkaline pH. Suspected of LAB isolates were belong to genus Lactobacillus and Pediococcus. Keywords: Fermented palm sap, lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus

Abstract

This research is aimed by the farmer of coconut knowing the activity of  extention worker Smallholder Enok District Inhil Regency. Indragir hilir regency is one of regency in Riau province which the capital is Tembilahan. It is devided into 20 sub districts, 198 villages and 38 district. The area  is 329.193 Ha Geografis, Indragiri Hilir Province is located at 00 360 LU until 10 070 LS until 1040 100 BT. This research is conducted Enok sub district Indragiri Hilir from January until February 2016. This research is done with colection sample method, interview and giving quisioner, the total of quisioners is 87. The extention worker in Enok subdistrict must be added in order the area can be devided one extention worker one village, because the extention worker can focus arranging the farmer in the area. The implementation of extention worker is still enough because must be increased to do some activities, especially providing of material is suitable in part of the farmer. The extention worker is conducted in the demonstration and aplication of using course increasing group farmer, quality aspect and quantity aspect. The adviser must increase  knowledge in cultivation of coconut, the quality of the farmer is categorized lower because the farmer graduated of SMP and SMA. The adviser conducted is not intensif and maximal especially in part of cultivation of coconut, qonsequently the extention worker must do some trainings who followed by the farmer of cultivation coconut for increasing the knowledge of the farmer and focus what extention worker is done for guiding the farmer of coconut. Keywords: Characterristic, Independent, Performance, Empowerment, Independent

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Know the channel and function of rice marketing in Kubu Rokan Hilir District. (2) Analyze cost, margin, and efficiency of rice marketing in Kubu sub district Rokan Hilir District. This research was conducted by survey method with the help of quisioner to interact with sample and sampling take  20 samples of farmers and buyers of rice. Data analysis using Snowball Sampling. The results showed that the rice marketing channel in Kubu sub-district only had one marketing channel from farmers to big traders to RMU (Tebing Tinggi). The function of rice marketing in Kubu Sub-district was done by marketing institutions such as farmers, Collecting traders, Big trader and RMU Tebing Tinggi which includes the functions of exchange, physical function and facility function. At farmers the cost does not incur marketing expenses. In the merchant collecting the marketing expenses incurred is the transportation cost of Rp 200 / kg which is the cost for transportation. While the big trader spend on loading and unloading marketing costs of Rp 85 / kg, transportation costs of Rp 200 / kg and total marketing costs Rp 485 / kg. While the marketing efficiency is 9.89% and the marketing profit is Rp 640 / kg and the share received by farmers is 77.26%.Keywords: Marketing, Rice, margin, efficiency and cost.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find the best concentrate of carrageenan on the chemical characteristics (water, ash, sucrose, and crude fiber content) and the sensory (color, flavor, taste, fineness, plasticity, and hedonic test) of pumpkin sheet jam. The experimental design used in this research was Completely Randomized Design (“CRD”) with four treatments, K1 (the addition of carrageenan 3.5% w/w), K2 (the addition of carrageenan 4.5% w/w), K3 (the addition of carrageenan, 5.5% w/w), and K4 (the addition of carrageenan 6.5% w/w). The result showed that the addition of carrageenan had an effect significant on the water, ash, sucrose, crude fiber content, the organoleptic test of taste, plasticity, and hedonic test. but did not significantly affect the organoleptic parameters of color, aroma, and smoothness. The selected pumpkin sheet jam was K4 which showed the concentrate of water, ash, sucrose, and crude fiber content were 24,25%, 1,13%, 50,60% and 2,08% respectively.   Keywords: Carragenaan, pumpkin, sheet jam.

Abstract

The research aims to observe and obtain the best concentration of powder extract of mangosteen rind to control anthracnose disease on red chili fruits. The research has been conducted in the Laboratory of Plant Pathology, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from March to May 2017. The research has been conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design, consisted of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The research consisted of two tests: in vitro inhibition of C. capsici and in vivo application of powder extract of mangosteen rind on red chili fruits. The concentration of powder extract of extract mangosteen rind used were: 0%, 5%, 15%, 25% and 35%. The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and the means were compared with Duncan 's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level of 5%. The results of the research showed that the concentration of powder extract of mangosteen rind  significantly affected C. capsici growth and increase the percentage of fungal growth inhibition. Powder extract of mangosteen rind at concentration 35%  gave the best effect in controlling anthracnose disease on red chilli fruits, which resulted in a longer incubation period of the disease, a lower intensity of the disease namely 23,70% and the effectiveness as a botanical fungicide is 60,47%. Key words : Red chili, the concentration and Garcinia mangostana.

Abstract

The research was conducted on experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru Campus Binawidya Km 12.5 from February until May 2016. This trial uses completely randomized design (CRD) factorial and 3 replications. The first factor was zeolites consists of 3 levels (0, 50 and 100 g/plant) and the second factor was sludge consists of 4 levels (0, 50, 100 and 150 g/plant). The experiment data were analyzed statistically with Anova and DNMRT 5%. The parameters those observed: shoots height, in the number of leaves, upper trunk circumference, root volume, shoot to root ratio. Results indicate giving sludge and zeolites influential in increasing the length of shoots, in the number of leaves and volume root, except upper trunk circumference and ratio header root. Giving sludge dose of 100 g/ plant and zeolite dose of 100 g/ plant increase 27,83 cm shoot length, number of leaves 18,00 strands, upper trunk circumference 0,37 cm and 1,64 ratio root header from the age of 3 months to 7 months. Giving sludge dose of 150 g/ plant and zeolite dose of 100 g/ plant increase volume root 96.67 ml of 3 months to 7 months. Keywords:Rubber Seedling, Mini Stumps, Sludge, Zeolites

Abstract

 This study aims to determine the growth and production of mustard using a planting medium composition and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer market vegetable waste with verticulture system. This researsch has been conducted at the Faculty of Agricultural Experimental Station Unit Riau University Campus Bina Widya KM 12,5 Panam Pekanbaru, for 4 months is from April to July 2017. This study used a randomized factorial block design (FBD). The first factor is the composition of the growing medium consisting of 4 levels, top soil: rice husk: sawdust. M0: top soil, M1: 3:2:1, M2: 2:3:2, M3: 1:1:3. The second factor is the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer market vegetable  waste which consits of 4 levels, P0:0 ml.liter of water-1,  P1: 150 ml.liter of water-1, P2: 300 ml.liter of water-1, P3: 450 ml.liter of water-1.The parameters those observed were: plant height, leaf number, fresh weight, consumable weight, and the root volume. The Ducan’s multiple range test at the 5% level was used for mean separations after analiysis of variance. The composition of embedding medium top soil, rice husk, sawdust (2:3:2) and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer aste vegetable market of 300 ml.liter of water-1 significantly affected the plant height, leaf number, fresh weight and the root volume.Keywords: mustard, planting medium, liquid organic fertilizer market vegetable waste, verticulture.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know about type of composition and diversity of medicinal plants in Customary Forest of Rimbo Tujuh Danau at Buluh Cina village. This research using methods purposive sampling. Data analysis using the Important Value Index (IVI) and Shannon Wiener diversity index (H’). The results showed that there were 38 types of 26 family composition type was found in Customary Forest of Rimbo Tujuh Danau. Vegetation type that have potentially as medicinal plants are 16 types of 13 family. The value of species diversity on tree level is 1,90, the poles is 1,00, the sapling is 1,00, the seedling and plants is 1,63 which the figures is indicated that the diversity of medicinal plants in Customary Forest of Rimbo Tujuh Danau have good worth with the value is 1≤H’<3. Keywords:Medicinal plants, Typeof composition, Species diversity,Customary Forest of Rimbo Tujuh Danau
