Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of sensory and antibacterial activity of liquid soap with the addition of essential oil bangle rhizome. This study used a Complete Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were addition of essential oils in consecutive S0 (0 ml), S1 (0,62 ml), S2 (1,24 ml), S3 (1,86 ml), and S4 (2,5 ml). The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance dan Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5%. The research showed that addition of  bangle rhizome essential oils significantly effected on antibacterial test, descriptive test and hedonic test. The best treatment of liquid soap in this research was S4 (addition bangle essential oil 2,5 ml) which had antibacterial activity against S. aureus of 3,50 mm dan E. coli of 2,67 mm.The result of descriptive test on liquid soap showed that soap had very bangle scents and hedonic test on liquid soap scents was not favored by the panelists. Keywords:Bangle (Zingibeer purpureum Roxb.), essential oil, liquid soap,antibacterial

Abstract

The purpose of this researchis to determine the effect of several doses of Trichocompost TKKS and to obtain the best dose for the growth of coffee arabica seedlings. This research has been conducted at the experimental farm, Agriculture Faculty of Riau University. This research started from March to June 2016. The research arranged experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consist of 4 treatments and 5 replications so there are 20 experimental units. Each of the experimental unit consisted of 2 seedlings, so there are 40 seedlings. The treatments were tested of Trichocompost TKKS dose22,35 g/polybag, 33,525 g/polybag, 44,70 g/polybag, and 55,875 g/polybag. The data was analyzed statistically and followed by DNMRT at 5% level. Parameters measured was height of seedlings, number of leaves, leaves area, root crown ratio, and root volume. The result showed that the aplication of Trichocompost TKKS dose of 44,7 g/polybag give the best effect on the growth of coffee arabica seedlings. Keywords : Coffee Arabica seedling, Trichocompost, TKKS

Abstract

The objective of the research is to study theinteraction of “EcengGondok” compost and organic mulch of Mucunabracteataandto obtain thebestcombination treatment for the growth of palmoil seedlings in the main nursery.The research has been conducted in the Experimental Field of Agriculture Faculty, Riau University, Pekanbaru for five months from August 2016 to January 2017. The experimental units were arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 treatment factors : “EcengGondok”compost (no “EcengGondok”compost, 50 g compost of “EcengGondok” and 100 g compost of “EcengGondok”) and mulch of Mucuna bracteata (no organic mulch, 50gorganic mulch of Mucuna bracteata and 100gorganic mulch of Mucuna bracteata). Each treatment repeated 3 times so that there were 27 palm oil seedlings.Observed parameters were seedling height increment, number of leaves increment, stem diameter increment, volume of root, dry weight of seedling, number of growing weeds in the polybag. The data were analyzed with ANOVA and the means of treatments were compared with DNMRT at 5 % level. Interaction effect of  “EcengGondok”compost and organic mulch of Mucuna bracteata was significant on the dry weight of seedling and thenumber of growing weeds in the polybag. Application of 100 g compost of “EcengGondok” and 100gorganic mulch of Mucuna bracteata resulted in a better growth of palmoil seedlings. Keywords : Palm oil seedling, compost of “EcengGondok”, organic mulch of Mucuna bracteata

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain the best concentration from kandis acid as a coagulant agent and preservative in tofu product. Thisresearch used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments and three replications, followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%.The treatment of this researchwereAK1 (the concentration of the kandis acid solution 7,5%),AK2 (the concentration of the kandis acid solution10,0% ), AK3 (the concentration of the kandis acid solution 12,5%), AK4 (the concentration of the kandis acid solution 15,0%), AK5 (the concentration of the kandis acid solution 17,5%) andAK6 (the concentration of the kandis acid solution 20,0%). The analysis observed were acidity (pH), protein, total bacteria, descriptive and hedonic sensory tests of taste, color and softness.The best treatment of this research was the concentration of 15% kandis acid solution which has acidity level (pH) of 4.58, protein 15.65%, total bacteria 8.22 Cfu/ml, taste not sour, slightly color and slightly soft texture.  Keyword :kandis acid, tofu,coagulant agent, preservative

Abstract

The research aims to isolate and to observe the antagonicity of endophytic bacteria from onion plant to Alternaria porri Ellis Cif. The research has been conducted at Plant Pathology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from April until June 2017. The research used explorational method (isolation and purification of the bacteria from red onion), experimental method (antagonicity test of bacteria endophytic from red onion plant and A. porri) and observation methods (hypersensitive test). Data collected from step 1 and 3 were analyzed descriptively. Step 2 used analysis of variance. The mean treatments were compared with Duncan’s new multiple range test at 5% level. Result of the research showed that there were 9 different bacterial isolated based on their color and shape. There were five highest antagonicity bacteria root-1 (54,00%), leaf-1 (46,00%), bulb-1 (44,00%), leaf-3 (42,00%) and bulb-3 (38,00%). The five bacteria are not hypersensitive due to the absence of the necrosis on injected tobacco leaf. Key words: Endophytic bacteria, onion plants, antagonicity, A. porri

Abstract

This study aims to determine the amount of erosion in oil palm plantations in various slopes and determine the extent of erosion in oil palm plantations. This research was conducted in oil palm plantations PT. Chemical Tirta Utama, conducted over four months from December 2015 to March 2106. The study was conducted by two methods, namely the methods of measurement and prediction of erosion. Measurements of erosion are conducted by placing small plots in the area gawangan dead plant oil palm on land slope of 9%, 19% and 31%. Estimation of erosion performed using USLE method. The results showed that the amount of soil erosion in oil palm plantations using small plots highest on the slope of 9%, amounting to 5.38 tonnes / ha, whereas the lowest on slopes of 31% amounting to 2.83 tonnes / ha. For the method of soil erosion USLE highest on the slope 31% ie 431.98 tons / ha, whereas the lowest on the slope of 9% is 386.55 tons / ha. The degree of erosion in oil palm plantations by estimating method USLE at an inclination of 9%, 19% and 31%, respectively, are 11.64, 12.53 and 14.04 which are all included in the very high category. The level of erosion in oil palm plantations with small terraced plots measuring method at an inclination of 9%, 19% and 31%, respectively 0.16, 0.12 and 0.09 which are all included in the low category. Keywords: erosion, palm oil, small plots, the slope of the land, USLE

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of rice husk charcoal and trichoazolla compost on growth and production of upland rice and to obtain the best combination of treatments. This research was conducted at Agriculture Experimental Station of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University, Rimbo Panjang Village, Tambang Sub District, Kampar Regency from January to April 2017 by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of            2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is T0: without rice husk chacoal, T1: Rice husk charcoal 2,5 t.ha-1, T2: Rice husk charcoal 5 t.ha-1 and T3: Rice husk charcoal 7,5 t.ha-1.             The second factor was P1: Trichoazolla compost 3 t.ha-1, P2: Trichoazolla compost 6 t.ha-1 and P3: Trichoazolla compost 9 t.ha-1. The results of this research indicate that the interaction of husk rice and trichoazolla compost increases growth and yield of upland rice plants and is seen in the number of all tillers, number of productive tillers, plant height, panicle length, percentage of pithy rice and weight of 1000 grains of grain. Grams of rice husks 5 t.ha-1 and compost trichoazolla 6 t.ha-1 are the best doses. Keywords: rice husk charcoal, trichoazolla compost, gogo rice, peat land.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the interaction of compost TKKS and P fertilizer as well as finding the best dozage of chose on the growth of oil palm seedling (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This research was carried out at the Agricultural Faculty University of Riau Bina Widya Campus KM 12,5 Simpang Baru Tampan district, Pekanbaru. This research was 4 month start in August 2016 through Nopember 2016. This research utilize CRD (Completely Roudomized Design) which 2 factors. First factor is compositing of TKKS wich 3 level. Second factor is fertilizer P dozage wich 3 level. Both factor gave 9 treatment combination and wich 3 replication, so there are 27 experimental units. Each experimental units have 2 seedling, so that there were 54 seedling. Parameters observed were the plant height, number of leaves, seedling diameter, leaf area, root volume of seedlings, dry weight of seedling and root canopy ratio. Data were analyzed statiscally with variance and continued with Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The result of this research showed the interaction of compost fertilizer TKKS and P fertillizer give good influence to all parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area, root volume of seedling, dry weight of seedling and root canopy area in oil palm nursery age 7 months. Keyword : Oilpalm, Compost TKKS, Fertilizer P

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect and get the best combination of organic mulch congongrass and chicken manure on the growth and production of onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) The research was conducted in experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau on Campus Bina widya Km 12.5 Kelurahan Simpang Baru Kecamatan Tampan Pekanbaru from April to June 2017. The research was conducted in a randomized complete design (RAL). The treatment was done by doing a combination between organic mulch with chicken manure. The parameters in this observation were plant height, number of leaves, number of tubers, percentage of tubers, tuber weight and tuber weight of storage. The results obtained were analyzed statistically using variance analysis and continued with a 5% DNMRT advanced test. The results showed that combination treatment without organic mulch congongrass and chicken manure 13,890 kg/ha can increase plant height, leaf number, tuber weight, fresh weight of tuber and tuber weight is saving but no effect on the number of onion crop tubers. Combination treatment without the application of organic mulch congongrass and chicken manure 13,890 kg/ha can increase fresh weight of onion plant as much as 112,74% and save weight of onion plant as much as 250% compared with mulching and without chicken manure. Keyword: Combination, organic mulch congongrass, chicken manure

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effect of the combination of sawdust ash and chicken manure along with water volume on the growth of oil palm seedling in the prenursery. The research also intended to determine the best dosage of ash and chicken manure combination and water volume application for seedling. This research was carried out at the Agriculture Experimental Station Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau for 4 months since March to July 2016. The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisted of 2 factors. First factor is combination of sawdust ash and chicken manure with three levels ( 10 g/plant, 20 g/plant, and 30 g/plant). Second factor is water application with three levels (100 ml/plant, 200 ml/plant, and 300 ml/plant). Combination of treatsment has 3 replications so that overall become 27 experimental units. Each experimental unit contains 2 seedlings Data obtained was analyzed by Analyis of Variance and further test using Duncan’s New Multi Range Test (DNMRT) at 5 % level. The combination of sawdust ash and chicken manure of 30 g/plant and the water application of 100 ml/plant has good influences on seedling height, stem diameter, and leaf area. Sawdust ash and chicken manure dosage of 30 g/plant good effect on seedling height, stem diameter and leaf area. Water of 100 ml/plant good effect on the number of leaf of oil palm seedling.  Kata kunci : Oil palm, sawdust ash, chicken manure, water.
