Abstract

Abstract            TSI is one of methods used to determine the trophical state of waters. The TSI was calculated  based on physical, chemical and biological parameters and it is more representative for analyzing the trophical state of waters.This research was conducted in February-March 2017 and it aims to understand the trophic state of the Lubuk Siam lake.  There were three sampling stations namely Station 1 (inlet), Station 2 (pen cage area ), and Station 3 (outlet). In each station, there were three sampling points, in the surface (50 cm), 2 secchi depth (150 cm) and 3 secchi depth (220 cm). Samplings were done once/week for 3 weeks period. Water quality parameter measured were chlorophyll-a, total phosphorus, transparency, temperature, pH, nitrate, and free carbondioxide. Trophic status was calculated based on Carlson’s Trophic State Index (TSI). Result  shown that the transparency was 63-89cm, totalphosphorus 0.01–0.23 mg/L, chlorophyll-a 10.27-72.52µg/L, depth 300-700 cm, temperature 27.6-31.1 oC, pH 6.7-7.5dissolved oxygen 4.098-8.264 mg/L,free carbondioxide 3.902 – 15.981mg/L andnitrate 0.054-0.241 mg/L. Based on Carlson’s TSI value, the Lubuk Siam Lake can be categorized as mesotrophic to light eutrophic. Keywords : Lubuk Siam, Lakes, TrophicState Index, Water Quality

Abstract

This research was conducted from February to April 2016 in the ponds of peatsoils at Jl. Petani Nenas Desa Kualu Nenas, Tambang, Kampar, Riau. The observation have been done in Laboratory of Environment Quality Aquaculture (EQA), Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty, Riau University. Methods of experiment in this researchused with completely randomized design (CRD). Dose of ameliorant will be used as a factor in this research. 6 dose treatmentsare P0: without giving ameliorant, P1: 400 g / m2, P2: 600 g / m2, P3: 800 g / m2, P4: 1000 g / m2, P5: 1200 g / m2, and 3 replications. The results of this research that dose of ameliorant formulation a can increase the abudance fitoplankton. The best of treatment during thisresearch treatment of the P5 1200 g ameloirant + formulasi/ m2 and the fitoplankton abudance is 1954.6667 ind/l. further more this research result There 17 kinds of fitolankton, 6 species of cholorophyta, 7 speciescyanophyta, and 4 speciesbacillariophyta.Keywords: Ameliorant, Peat, and fitoplankton

Abstract

This research was conducted from April 2017 to Mei 2017, for 30 days in Aquaculture Technology Laboratory of Fisheries Faculty and Marine Sciences, University of Riau Pekanbaru. This study aimed to determine the effect of type of feeding is best to fish growth and pigmentation of guppy. The method used in this study was a laboratory-scale experimental methods with experimental design completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments were given treatment level is P1 = Tubifex sp, Moina sp = P2, and P3 = artificial Pellets added carrot flour P4 = ornamental fish pellet. The best result was treatment P1 treatment using feed Tubifex sp absolute weight of 0,36 grams, a length of 0,59 cm absolute, and body color Guppy 4,86 scorKeyword : Guppy (Poecilia reticulata), feed,pigmentation

Abstract

 ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui optimasi fortifikasi tepung mikroalga Chlorella sp. terbaik yang dibutuhkan oleh bakteri Acetobacter xylinum dalam fermentasi Nata de coco. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) non factorial dengan empat taraf perlakuan yaitu C1 tanpa tepung mikroalga Chlorella sp. (urea5gr), C2 menggunakan tepung mikroalga Chlorella sp. sebanyak 2gr, C3 menggunakan tepung mikroalga Chlorella sp. sebanyak 4gr dan C4 menggunakan tepung mikroalga Chlorella sp. sebanyak 6gr, dan percobaan dilakukan tiga kali ulangan sehingga menghasilkan 12unit percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ketebalan nata, kandungan protein dan serat kasar tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan C4 dengan nilai 1,33 cm, 1,37% dan 1,00%. Untuk kadar air tertinggi diproduksi pada perlakuan C2 (95,92%). Nilai warna tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan C2 (7,64) dengan warna nata putih cerah, untuk nilai tekstur, nilai rasa dan nilai aroma tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan C4 dengan nilai (7,66), (7,10), (7,69) dengan karakteristik tekstur kenyal, rasa tawar dan tidak asam, aroma berbau tidak asam. Analisis variansi berdasarkan analisis organoleptik, fisik dan proksimat berpengaruh nyata terhadap fermentasi Nata de coco. Kata kunci:Fortifikasi, Mikroalga Chlorella sp., Sumber nitrogen, Nata de coco

Abstract

The aim of the research was to assess the antibacterial effectiveness of seaweed Eucheuma cottonii extract as inhibitor to the growth of Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of Eucheuma cottonii extract on Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The method used was the experimental. The most effective concentration of the extract was 6% that could inhibit the growth of Bacillus cereus with a clear zone of 6 mm. Meanwhile, the extract concentration of 4% was the effective concentration to inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa with a clear zone of 5 mm.Keywords : antibacterial, Bacillus cereus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, seaweed

Abstract

The research was conducted in February 2017 at Sakera coast Bintan regency of Kepulauan Riau Province,with the aims to determine the concentration of Nitrate and Phosphate in water, abundance of planktonic diatom and, the relationship between the concentration of Nitrate and Phosphate with abundance of planktonic diatom.The research methods used a was survey method. Each station consists of three sampling points. The results showed that the concentration of Nitrate ranged from 0.179-0.240 mg / L, whereas Phosphate concentration ranged from 0.175-0.194 mg/ L. The planktonic diatom found in the waters of Sakera coast consists of 2 ordo and 9 genus . The most dominant species were Isthmia sp, Chaetoceros sp and Nitzschia sp.The highest abundance was at station 4 which was a residential area (5540 ind /L), while the lowest was at station 1 which was the oil refining area (3488 ind / L). The relationship between concentration of Nitrate with diatom abundances has weak positive correlation, while the relationship between concentration of Phosphate with diatom abundances has weak negative correlation.Keywords : Coast Sakera, abundance, nitrate and phosphate, and diatoms

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus 2016 di muara Sungai Mesjid Kota Dumai dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kesuburan perairan muara Sungai Mesjid ditinjau dari nitrat dan posfat serta hubungannya dengan kelimpahan Diatom.Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei yang dilakukan pada 4 stasiun, masing-masing stasiun terdiri dari tiga titik sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi nitrat pada stasiun penelitian berkisar  0,112 - 0,416 mg/L. Sedangkan konsentrasi posfat pada stasiun penelitian berkisar 0,021-1,021 mg/L. Pada setiap stasiun penelitian ditemukan 9 spesies diatom, kelimpahan diatom tertinggi terdapat pada stasiun 3 (4932,71 ind/L) dan kelimpahan terendah pada stasiun 4 (1501,25 ind/L).Hubungan kandungan nitrat dengan kelimpahan diatom diperoleh persamaan Y= 11033-1609x dengan nilai R2 = 0,205 dan r = 0,45. Dilihat dari nilai (r) hubungannya sedang artinyameningkatnya hubungan kandungan nitrat maka kelimpahan diatom juga akan meningkat. Sedangkan Hubungan kandungan posfat dengan kelimpahan diatom memiliki persamaan Y= 428,4+ 3232x dengan nilai R2 = 0,002 dan r = 0,04. Dilihat dari nilai (r) hubungannya sangat lemah. Ditinjau dari konsentrasi nitrat perairan muara Sungai Mesjid dapat di kategorikankurang subur (oligotropik).Sedangkan ditinjau dari posfat dapat dikategorikan mesotropik (kesuburan sedang).  Kata Kunci: Nitrat,Fosfat  Kelimpahan Diatom, muara Sungai Mesjid

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the utilization of functional facility ofFishery Port of Nusantara Palabuhanratu. This research was conducted in March untilApril 2017. The method used in this research is survey method at fishery port ofPalabuhanratu archipelago. Data analysis using technical analysis (facility requirementanalysis) and facility utilization analysis. The survey shows that existing functionalfacilities include workshops, fishing gear improvements, docking venues, fish auctionsites, freshwater tanks, fuel tanks and bulk ice factories. Of the 7 existing facilities, only 3facilities can be analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis can be seen that the level ofneed for fish auction place is 3.40% classified as less good, freshwater tank is 1.25%classified as less good, and fuel tank is 2.23% classified as less good.Keywords: fishing port, functional facilities, utilization level

Abstract

ABSTRACTRhizophora apiculata  the dominant mangrove vegatation species growing in Cawan Island, Indragiri Hilir regency, Riau. R. apiculata as one of the spesies in mangrove has considerable CO2 inhibition potential. Beside estimating carbon in R.apiculata standing, soil organic carbon was also analyzed conducted at different depths. This research was conducted in September-November 2017, used survey method, analysis of biomass using allometric, the size of the stand diameter as independent variable obtained by non destructive sampling, carbon estimation and assessment  CO2 refer BSN (2011). Soil organic carbon was analyzed with Los On Ignation method in Marine Chemical Laboratory Fishries and Marine Faculty, University of Riau. Average biomass, carbon content, CO2 R. apiculata uptake were 45,51 ton / ha, 21,39 ton C / ha, 78,43 ton CO2 / ha, respectively. The average distribution of soil organic carbon deposits at depths of 0cm - 15cm, 15cm - 30cm, 30cm - 50cm, 50cm - 100cm and> 100cm respectively were 275.63 ton C / ha, 275.83 ton C / ha, 277 , 29 ton C / ha, 562.90 ton C / ha and 271.95 ton C / ha. In each soil layer, the depth of 50cm - 100cm larger. R. apiculata standing carbon and soil organic carbon have positive regression result with linear regression equation y = 1,2759x - 2101,2 with terminated value (R2) equal to 0,1569 and value (r) with the same value  0,40 then the soil carbon carbon deposits with standing carbon deposits have substantial relationships. Keywords: Mangrove, Soil, Biomass, Carbon

Abstract

This research was conducted in July 2016 at the coastal waters of Pasir Jambak Padang City West Sumatera Province with intention to determine the characteristics of wave and tidal currents. The stasion observation way is determined by using a purposive method. Research location divided into three stations, where each station consists of three sampling points, the distance between stations of approximately 100 m. Performed during 15 days of observation. Every station was placed parallel to the coastline, a distance less than 100 meters from the beach toward the Sea. High wave at high tide ranges from 0.21 - 0.33 m and 0.23 - 0.35 m at low tide. Wave period ranges from 1.54 to 2.23 seconds at high tide and 1.43 to 1.97 seconds at low tide. Wavelength ranges between 3.86 to 7.8 m at high tide and 3.35 to 6.08 m at low tide. Current velocity ranges between 0.37 to 0.64 m/sec at high tide and 0.36 to 0.51 m/sec at low tide. At the high tide the flow towards the southeast and at the low tide towards to the southwest.Key words: Current, Wave, Pasir Jambak, Padang, West Sumatra
