Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to evaluate the effect of different solvent (Aceton,Heksane and Ethanol) and long extraction times (2, 3, 4 hours) to the antioxidantactivity of carotenoids from crab shell (Scylla olivacea). A total of 7 kg of crabshells was minced. Carotenoid extracts was obtained from crab shell flour (100 g)and dissolved in 500 ml of solvent (Aceton, Heksane and Ethanol)Carotenoid extract was observed for total carotenoids, rendement extract,the intensity of color (L, a, b), pH and antioxidant activity assay. Optimalconditions for the extraction process was obtained in aceton solvent (A1) with 4hof long extraction time (B3), with a total carotenoid 16,27 ug / g, yield 20,64 gextract, the intensity of color (L, a, b) 38,07; +12,60; and +12,80 respectively, pH7,3 and antioxidant activity (DPPH) 89,75 ppm.Keywords: The type of solvent, long extraction times, the carotenoidantioxidan activity, crab shell.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in July to September 2014 in Parasite and Fish Diseases Laboratory of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty, Riau University. The aim of this research to understand the hematologycal condition of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) that were infected by ectoparasites. The method used in this study is a survey method by taking fish samples from one location and the fish sample will be taken in the laboratory and identified. Ectoparasite examinations will be done based on Kabata, 1985 and hematologycal parameter will be measured based on Siwicki and Anderson, 1993. Result shown that the three types of ectoparasites that were infected in tilapia are: Trichodina sp., Dactylogyrus sp., and Gyrodactylus sp. The average of hematocrit value of male tilapia was 19,7- 22,18%, the hemoglobin concentration was 4.07-4.8%, and the total erythrocyte was 1.483.000-1.680.000 cells / mm3, whereas the hematocrit of female tilapia was 18,9-21,6%, the hemoglobin concentration was 3,8-4,9%, the total erythrocytes was 1.346.000-1.562.500 cells / mm3. It can be concluded that the hematologycal conditions of tilapia (male and female) in that area was different.Keywords : Ectoparasites, Hematologycal, Tilapia, Pekanbaru

Abstract

The research was conducted for 30 days from september to october 2014 which was held at the Great Hall of Freshwater Aquaculture Sukabumi, West Java Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth rate and survival rate of prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergi De Man) with extensive shelter different method used is the experimental method with completely randomized design (CRD) of the factor with 3 levels of treatment. Ie P1 spacious shelter 30% of the area of the container, broad P2 shelter 60% of the total container broad P3 shelter 90% .of the vast container.Best results showed that the spacious shelter of 90% growth in absolute weight (4.48 grams), the growth of the absolute length (4.11 cm), daily weight growth rate (2.40%), survival (97%) higher in comparison with treatment spacious shelter 60% and 30%. each. Water quality parameters are recorded as temperature 24-26º C, 7.45 to 8.83 pH, and dissolved oxygen between (7.7 to 8.17 ppm).Keywords: Prawns, spacious shelter , tokolan, growth

Abstract

This study was conducted in January-February 2015, at Ujung Batee fisheries Brackish Water Cultivation Hall, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of different feeding frequency on the growth and survival rate of tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon). The research method used an experimental with 3 treatments and 3 replications of feeding 2 times a day (P1); feeding 3 times a day (P2) and feeding 4 times a day (P3). Data were analyzed using ANOVA (P< 0,05). 180 tiger shrimp tails were reared in 9 “toples” with aeration (25L). The results showed feeding 4 times a day gave a higher growth of weight gain (2,896 g), daily growth rate (8,24%), the growth of length (13,29 mm), and survival rate (80%).Keyword : tiger shrimp, feeding frequency, and growth

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in Oktober to Desember 2015 in the Laboratory of Parasite and Fish Disease of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty, University of Riau. This study aims to understand the leukocytes differentiation Profil of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) that were infected by ectoparasites in Simpang Tiga sub-district Pekanbaru. The research method used in this study is a survey method by taking sampels in the field and fish sample will be analized in the laboratory, and will be identificied based on Kabata, 1995. The hematologycal parameter (leukocytes differentiation) will be measured based on Swicki and Anderson, 1974. The result shown that three types of ectoparasite that were infected in tilapia was Trichodina sp., Dactylogyrus sp., and Gyrodactylus sp. The total leukocytes of male tilapia was 92.350-103.400 cells/mm3 and famale tilapia was 89.375-100.200 cells/mm3. Differentiation of leukocytes such as lymphocytes of male tilapia was 65-73,5%, whereas the famale tilapia was 61,5-77,5%, monocytes of male tilapia was 22-31,5%, whereas the famale tilapia was 18-34,5%, and neutrophils of male tilapia (3-4,5%) was higher than famale tilapia (4-5%).Keywords : Ectoparasites, Differentiation, Leukocytes, Tilapia, Pekanbaru

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study was conducted from September-November 2014 in the Laboratory of marine Microbiology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of probiotics strain Riau of giant prawn toward A. hydrophila. This research was continued of the Hasyimi’s research on 2014, the treatment in method cakram used is probiotics Bacillus sp. with six levels of treatment: P0 (disk blank+50 μL TSB), P1 (antibiotic novobiocin), P2 (50 μL isolate Bacillus F), P3 (50 μL isolate Bacillus G), P4 (50 μL isolate J) and P5 (50 μL isolate K), and the dilution method uses four methods (F, G, J and K) of four kind of dilution (10-2, 10-4, 10-6 and 10-8). The results showed that the genetic of probiotics bacterial strain Riau wich was isolated giant prawn could theat A. hydrophila, with the biggest blocked power is in K isolator (13,8 mm) and the smalest blocked power is in G isolator (7,6 mm), and MIC value is in 10-8 dilution and MBC value is in 10-4 retard.Key words: Bacillus sp., giant prawn, A. hydrophila

Abstract

This research was conducted from April-December 2014 in Hatchery andBreeding Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University ofRiau. The objective of this research was to evaluate the intergeneric hybridizationbetween gold fish (Carassius auratus auratus) with silver barb fish (Barbonymusgonionotus) by comparing the fertilization rate, hatching rate, survival rate in fourdays (SR-4), survival rate for 30 days (SR-30), extra weight and value heterosis (hybrid vigor ) between fish larvae results hybridization with fish control. Themethod is applicable in the experimental methods, where spawning artificial wasconducted by the use of eggs and fish sperm of a comet (Carassius auratusauratus) and silver barb (Barbonymus gonionotus) that has been injected usingovaprim with a dose of 0,5ml / kg.The highest percentage of fertilization is marriage ♂ K x ♀ K (88,8%),follow by ♀ K x ♂ T (85,505%), ♀ T x ♂ T (36,65%) ♀ T x ♂ K 0%. The highestpersenatage hatching is a control that is ♂ T x ♀ K (94.285%), which followed ♀K x ♂ K (74,655%), ♀ T x ♂ T (54,72%) and ♀ T x ♂ K (0%). The highestpercentage of survival rate 30 days in sequence is ♀ K x ♂ T (44,97%), ♀ K x ♂K (41,985%) and ♀ T x ♂ T (6,15%). The highest weight added sequentially isthe larvae of spawning results ♀ K x ♂ K (0,513 g), ♀ T x ♂ T (0,343 g) dan ♀ Tx ♂ K (0,328 g). All values of heterosis is negative except at the heterosis B butnot the absolute weight.Key words : hibrydization, gold fish, silver bard

Abstract

The research was conducted in October-November 2014 in the coastal waters of the village of Jago-Jago, Sub Badiri District, Tapanuli of at regency middle of North Sumatera Province. The aims of the study were to determine the carbon content in each section of seagrass and to find out which part of seagrass E. acoroides had the largest carbon storage potential. The method used was a survey method. Analysis of the carbon content in plant parts was done by Walkley and Black method. The results showed the percentage of carbon in plant parts obtained at the highest seagrass leaves from 15,73 to 27,00% and the lowest was at the root of 9,43 to 13,20%. Carbon storage was highest in the leaves ranging from 17,62 to 42,92 gC / m2, and the lowest was at the root, 2,01 to 3,73 gC / m2. Part of seagrass which has the largest carbon storage potential contained in the leaves. To get more information on carbon storage in Village of waters Jago Jago, about the carbon storage potential based on a certain units of time (daily, monthly or annually) in coastal waters Jago-Jago village in helping to tackle climate change.keyword : Enhalus acoroides, Carbon storage, Village of Jago-Jago

Abstract

This research was conducted from September – Oktober 2014 in coastalwater of Tanjung Balai Asahan north Sumatra. In general the shell was a group ofinvertebrate animal (invertebrates) with its shape easy to be recognized. Mostshell were characterized by the presence of a shell that protected the body andonly a small part type was not shelled. The mussel shell M. meretrix was animportat fishery commodities as food from the sea and popular to Tanjung Balaicommunity. Tanjung Balai Asahan coastal was one of the mussel shell M.meretrix potential in north Sumatra. This research was aims to determine theabundance and distribution patterns of mussel shell M. meretrix in the intertidalzone Tanjung Balai Asahan. The method applied on this research was surveymethod. Location ofthe study were divided into 2; station 1 was away from thesettlements; while station 2 was near residential area. To get a description of theabundance distribution of mussel shell M. meretrix in the intertidal zone of thecoastal Tanjung Balai Asahan, the tidal area was divided into 4 zones by dividingthe tidal zone vertically, range from high tide to low tide.In each zone a sample taken 5 plot with plot size 1x1m2. Sediment samplewere taken by 3 points in each zone, and rolled into one, so that amount ofsediment sample by 4 sample at each station. Sample taken shell, sediment,measurement quality of the measured temperature, salinity, pH, brightness. Theresult showed that the average abundance ranged from 1.6 ind/m2to 7 ind/m2. Thepattern of distribution in the study area tend to cluster. Based on the calculation ofthe t test at each station and each zone F test on the abundance of mussel shell M.meretrix showed equally not significantly different.Keywords: Mussel shell, abundance, sediment, pattern distribution, TanjungBalai Asahan.

Abstract

This study of was conducted in December 2014 - March 2015 in the area of mangrove forests Marine Station Dumai. The purpose of this study was to determine the speed of litter decomposition of mangrove and the diversity of fungi in litter of mangrove. The method used was survey method. The sampling and measurement for water quality included salinity, temperature and pH that were done directly in the field. Weighing litter carried out at the Laboratory of Marine Chemistry whereas litter decomposition data analysis and identification of fungi diversity was carried out in the Laboratory of Marine Microbiology Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences University of Riau. Mangrove leaf litter decomposition was in the highest at station III with a percentage value of litter decomposition rate of 1.31% per day. The identification results in leaf litter on the mangrove areas showed that there were eight types of fungi that included two of the species Aspergillus sp., Chaetomium sp., Candida sp., Gliocladium sp., Culvularia sp., Bipolaris sp. and Exophiala sp. The most often fungi found in each observation was Gliocladium sp. The highest fungi species diversity index was at score of 2.08 on a mangrove leaf litter that was found on observation IV.Key words : mangrove , litter , decomposition rate , fungi , Dumai Marine Station
