Abstract

ABSTRACTThe study was conducted in Penyengat Island in June 2014, Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Province. The Penyengat Island coastal is known as fishing area and as cruise line and this island has seagrasses ecosystem. The research aim was to determine the structure of bivalves and its relationship with seagrass density by using the survey method. There were 3 station choser each station were 3 placed line transects, and each transects have 3 plot with the area of 1 x 1 m². The resulsts of the study showed there were 8 species of bivalves from 5 famalies and 6 genus. The species were concisting of Meritrix meritrix, Mercenaria mercenaria, Pina bicolor, A granosa, A inflate, Barbatia bistrigata, Crassostrea gasar and Placuna placenta. There were two species of seagrasses identified, i. e. Enhalus acoroides, and Halophila ovalis. Based on simple regression analysis it was concluded that the relationship between the density of seagrass density and bivalves population had a very weak correlation (r = 0,06).Keywords: Penyengat Island, Bivalves, Seagrass, Community structure

Abstract

AbstractPeat water is naturally brownish colored and it has high turbidity and thus it is not sufficient to support the life of fish, especially Cyprinus carpio. To understand the effectiveness of the continuous system processor to reduce the color and turbidity in the peat water and to understand the ability of C. carpio to live in the treated peat water, a study has been conducted in May 2014. The peat water was obtained from the Tarai River and then was processed using “a continuous processor”. The water was pumped into water tank (120L), added with lime (225 gr), Aluminum Sulphate (225 gr), aerated and filtered with layers of zeolit, charcoal and sand. Sampling was conducted 4 times, once/week. Results shown that after being treated, the color of the water become clear (from around 890 to 7.49 PtCo) and the effectiveness was 99.17%. The turbidity decrease, from 40.0 NTU into 2.61 NTU (effectiveness 93.41%). Survival rate of Cyprinus carpio that were reared in the treated water was 100%. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the continuous system is effective to reduce the color and turbidity of the peat water. Keywords : Peat Water, Continuous system processor, water color, turbididty, Cyprinus carpio.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study was conducted in May 2014 held at the village of Batu Belubang Senayang District of Lingga District Riau Islands Province. The purpose of this study is to find the right form valves or better to be used by fishermen. This study uses three treatments, namely: valves the shape pointing up, valves whose shape pointing downward, and valves that looks straight ahead. The method used in this study is the experimental method, the entire unit of experiments carried out in the field. From this results, the catch valves leads down better than the catch valves pointing up and straight forward, both in the amount of weight (kg) and in the number of individuals (tail). Basic trap catches with all three forms of the valves dominated by domersal and carnivorous fish.Key words :
