Abstract

Periphyton is a group of microorganism that grow in some natural substrates such as rock, wood, plants and aquatic animals. A research aims to understand the biomass of periphyton in the Salo river based on its biovolume has been carried out in April-May 2015. There were 3 stations namely the upstream (S1), midstream (S2), and downstream (S3) of the river. Samplings are conducted 4 times, once/ week. Results shown that the biomass of the periphyton in the S1 was 9.43 mg/cm2, S2 was 14.63 mg/cm2 and S3 was 51.32 mg/cm2. The abudance of periphyton in the all station Salo River is significantly different, there were S1 (9.43 mg/cm2), S2 (14.63 mg/cm2), and S3 (51.32 mg/cm2). Periphyton biomass in the Salo River in general was around 9.43 -51.32 mg/cm2.Keywords: Periphyton, biomass (biovolume), Water Quality, Salo River

Abstract

The research was conducted in February-March 2015 with a goal to determine the relationship between the oil content and the abundance of diatomsin Meral Karimun waters of Riau Islands Province. The survey method was applied in four stations with three sampling strata,i.e. the surface area, the middle and near the bottom. It revealed that the oil content of water ranged from 0.1797 to 0.2063 ppm and diatom abundance were between 44 to 149 cells/l, which contain of 14 species. Apparently, the oil content of seawater was not correlated (p>0.05) with diatom abundance were the coefficient correlation of (r) = 0.318. The regression equation was y = - 468.350x + 184.297 with a coefficient of determination (R2) =0.101 and a correlation coefficient (r) = 0.318. It was suggested that increasing oil content will decrease the abundance of diatoms in the Meral Karimun waters.Key Words:Meral, abundance, diatoms, oil content

Abstract

In floating cage fish culture activities, fish feed remains and feces are freed to surrounding water. Degradation of these materials decreases the water quality in general. To understand the water quality in general, a research was conducted from April to May 2015. This research aims to determine the water quality in the dam site of Koto Panjang dam, based on Chemical Index (Kirchoff, 1991). There were three stations. In each station water samples were collected from 3 different depths, in the surface; secchi depths and 2 secchi depths. Water samples were taken 3 times/ week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, conductivity, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, nitrate, phosphate and ammoniac. Results shown that water quality in the research area are as follows : Temperature 29-310C, conductivity 24.7-26.6 μS/cm, brightness 100-176 cm, pH 5-6, dissolved oxygen 4.4-6.2 mg/L, BOD5 3.2-10.2 mg/L, nitrate 0.049-0.298, phosphate 0.03-0.087 mg/L, dan ammoniac 0.03-0.182 mg/L. The value of the Chemical index was 44.19-52.97, indicates that this reservoir is fairly polluted. Keywords : Reservoir of Koto Panjang, Water Quality, Chemical Index

Abstract

Research on the aquacultur of Jelawat fish (Leptobarbus hoevanii) in the cages held in February 2015 at the Ranah village and Kampar subdistrict Kampar Regency. This research was aimed to find out how much production costs, how large the contribution costs of seeds and feed costs to the total cost of production as well as how large the profits obtained from the cultivation Jelawat fish in the cages. Based on the results of the research the costs of production incurred amounting to Rp. 40.608.500, the average contribution to the total feed cost is 80.5% while seeds cost total contribution towards total cost was 9.99% and the average profit earned by farmers is Rp. 6.515.500/harves. Thus the business in the cages of Jelawat fish profitable and useful the continued. Keywords: Jelawat Fish, of production contribution, advantage

Abstract

The Research was conducted in the Petapahan Village Tapung Subdistrict KamparProvince Riau on January to February 2015. The research was aimed to determine theperception of fisherman about Manubo culture of River Tapung in Petapahan Village TapungSubdistrict Kampar Province Riau by the survey methode. The responden was determined bysensus. The result concluded the Manubo culture is fishing togheter with root of tuba once of ayear, exactly on dry season for aims to make a good relationship, growth the togheterness, andincrease community economy who need. The perception of fisherman about the Manuboculture are included on 3 ; they are ; (1).Manubo culture don’t have major impact on the fishingresult, (2).Manubo culture don’t have the major impact the quality of fish; (3).And theexistence of the Manubo culture is decreasing. For the score, the perception of fisherman aboutthe Manubo culture is less well categoried (20-27), and well (28-35). So, the perception offisherman about Manubo cluture have no major impact on fisheries resources pollution becauselimitedness of area and tuba. Keywords : Manubo culture, Perception of fisherman, impact.

Abstract

The study was purposed to determine the consumer acceptance of common carp (Lepotobarbus hoevenii Blkr) atom crackers that added with fish meat compared to that added with fish meal. The fish meal was obtained from traditional markets. The fish initially was processed into fish meal and mixed with tapioca flour, water, seasoning and condiments and then fried. The quality of fish crackers produced was assessed for their consumer acceptance and their chemical composition. The fish cracker added with the fish meat showed the highest consumer acceptance at the rate of 100%. The fish cracker added with the fish meat contained 6,10% moisture, 29,46% protein, 7,00% fat and 2,17% ash. Keywords: atom crackers, consumers acceptance, fish meal, Leptobarbus hoevenii Blkr
