Abstract

This study has been done in Bantan Beach of Bengkalis Regency in Riauin December 2014. This research aims to understand the analyze oil contentdistribution, observing the environmental conditions. The research used surveymethod. The samples were taken from three stations, The water qualityparameters measured were covering temperature, transparency, pH, salinity, andcurrent speed. The result showed the highest oil concentration highest tide was atthe station II,i.e: 0.189 ppm and lowest at stationIII,i.e:0.130 ppm. The highest oilcontent at low tide was at station III,i.e: 0.111ppm and the lowest was at station I,i.e 0.058 ppm. The water quality parameter at the highest tide was temperature31oC–32 oC; transparancy 46-48 cm; pH: 8; salinity: 30.3-31 ppt, currentspeed:0.17-0.24 and lowest tide were temperature of 30.3oC–31 oC; transparancy43-45 cm; pH: 8; salinity: 29.67-30 ppt, current speed:0.16-0.22 m/sec. Theresults obtained showed that the average oil content the tide was higher than theaverage oil content at low tide. The concentration of oil content in Bantan Beachshowed in the range support the aquatic organisms life.Keywords : The oil content, highest tide and lowest tide, Bantan Beach

Abstract

The survey was conducted on February 19 to 28, 2015 in the sub-district of Kampar Riau Province. This study purposive survey method. Some farmers Graduated from P4S in Kampar district is 28 people and whole of them to be respondents by census. The purpose of this study was to collect and analyze information on: characteristics of fish farmers in cages aquaculture both internal and external, to measure adoption level of fish farming in floating cages, to analyze the relationship between the farmer characteristic with  adoption by using coefficient rank Spearman correlation.   The adoption level of farmer  in the Kampar district for cager aquaculture in the middle category, and the pace of implementation of the recommended technology packages are in the medium category, because not all technology package recommended applied by the expansion of the farmers, because innovation is advisable nature difficult to implement. The recommended technology package is the choice of the location and layout, the design of the cage, the cleanliness of the facilities and equipment, seeds, feed, fish diseases and pests, harvest.   Keyword : Adoption level, Graduated, Aquaculture Technology

Abstract

This research aimed to determite the effect of soaking solution plants ant nests on the quality of fish selais (Cryptopterus bicirchis) smoke, seen from the organoleptic, analysis of the moisture, ash, protein, fat concentration and test the antioxidant activity. The methods used in this research is an experiment that is doing an experiment making fish processing smoke and treatment soaking solution of ant nests with concentration different plants without solution ant nest S0 (0%), S5 (5%), S10 (10%) dan S15 (15%). The research showed that the treatment soaking solution of ant nests on the quality fish selais smoke with concentration 15% (S15) is most preferable treatment with characteristics of appearance is neat, fawn coloured and rather interesting (7.78), texture is compact and dry (7.16), scent is comfortable and the smell of smoke favored (6.79) and sense is tasty and the smell of smoke favored (7.00). For value of the moisture is 27.12% , ash 10.08%, protein 51.76%, and fat concentration 10.07% was and the test result of antioxidants activity is 6.09 mg/mL.Keyword : Solution plants of ant nests, soaking, selais smoked

Abstract

The objective of this research was to compare the vacuum packaging and nonvakum on quality of hump banana nugget (Musa acuminate L.) fortified with fish protein concentrate (Pangasius hypopthalmus). Parameter used were sensory evaluation, including appearance, taste, texture and odor by giving the score sheet 25 somewhat trained panelists; the content of water, fat, protein, peroxide value and total colony of bacteria, Which were observed periodically at 0, 10, 20 and 30 days. Result showed that the hump banana nugget fortified with fish protein concentrate stored in vacuum packaging was showing as the best quality, it was indicated for the highest sensory value appearance 8.55-4.71%, odor 8.42-4.63 %, texture 8.50-4.54 % and taste 8.46-4.41 %. The product contained moisture 54.19-62.05 %, fat 3.45-1.49 %, protein 12.04-7.06 %, peroxide value 0.00-7.41 meq/1000 g sample and total colony of bacteria 4,4x103 to 2,2x104 cell/g. The nuggets can be stored for 20 days in cold temperature (± 50C).Keywords: Nugget, packaging, vacuum-nonvacuum

Abstract

The research was conducted in March-April 2015 in the Laboratory of Fish Processing Technology, Laboratory of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau, Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Science, University of Riau and the Laboratory of Chemical Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Science, University of North Sumatra. This study aims to produce peptone from waste yellow pike conger entrails as bacterial nutrients to support the growth of bacteria in the growth medium. Waste yellow pike conger entrails autolysis hydrolysed by activating proteolytic enzymes (pepsin) in the stomach of fish using 12 N HCl at pH (1,2,3 and 4) the hydrolysis temperature 40oC for 24 hours to determine the optimum hydrolysis conditions. The optimum hydrolysis conditions of waste yellow pike conger entrails occurs at pH 3, the temperature of 40oC hydrolysis with hydrolysis time of 24 hours, the solution was centrifuged extract peptone hydrolysis and then dried with a freeze dryer. The results showed peptone fish entrails have cunang content of 79.06% protein content; total nitrogen 12.66%; free α-amino nitrogen 1.97%; the ratio AN / TN 15.56%; water content of 5.43% and 93.03% solubility in water. Growth of test bacteria Escherichia coli ATCC 8739 and Staphylococcus aereus 6538 showed peptone yellow pike conger entrails can be used as a nutrient growth of bacteria on the growth medium.Keywords : Peptone, yellow pike conger, autolysis, enzyme pepsin, E. coli ATCC 8739, S. aereus 6538

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of soaking catfish fillets into the solution of betel leaves on the quality of the smoke flavored catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus). The experiment method used was composed as blocked completely randomized design. The catfish was filleted then soaked in the solution of betel leaves at varied concentrations and combined with liquid smoke for 30 minutes, and then dried at the temperature of 60oC for 2 days. Results showed that the catfish fillets soaked in solution of 30 % betel leaves combined with 7 % liquid smoke produced good characteristics and high quality of the smoke flavored catfish. It was indicated by the appearance that was clean and tidy, brown colored, very specific of smoky odor and a little bit of additional odor of betel leaves, delicious tasted, savory, feels additional betel leaves and the texture was dense, compact, and quite dry. The chemical characteristic was including moisture content 18.79% and the value peroxide 4.22 mg eq/1000g. The presence of mushrooms was detected after stored for 22 days.Keywords : catfish fillets, betel leaves, liquid smoke

Abstract

This research was about analysis Bagan Apung, was conducted on January 2015 at Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera Bungus West Sumatera Province. The purpose of this analysis was to find out the big invesment, the feasibility investment and to find out the analysis sensitivity of business Bagan Apung. This research used by survey method with respondents were selected through purposive sampling. The purposive sampling was the fisherman Bagan Apung with ship on 21 GT and 30 GT. The result of this research showed that the investment of the Bagan Apung 21 GT was Rp 600.710.600,-, and the Bagan Apung 30 GT was Rp 740.993.000,-. Based investmen criteria the bagan apung 21 GT, the value of NPV was Rp 975.862.431,-, the value of BCR 1.21, IRR was 59,78%. And the Bagan Apung 30 GT the value of NPV was Rp 790.484.279,-, the value of BCR 1.15, IRR was 54,67%. The analysis of sensitivity bagan apung 21 GT operating cost incrused 10% and fixed production NPV amount Rp 511.763.174,-, BCR was 0.997 and IRR was 44,47%. And Bagan Apung 30 GT NPV amount Rp 250.936.156,-, BCR was 0.996, and the value of IRR 21%. The decline production 10% and fixed cost Bagan Apung 21 GT NPV amount Rp 414.176.931,-, BCR amount 1 and IRR was 41%. Abstract

Periphyton is a type of algae that commonly inhabit the surface of immersed objects. A research aims to understand the periphyton community (types and abundance) in the floating-net cage in the Koto Panjang Dam has been conducted from May to June 2015. Samplings were conducted 3 times in 3 stations, namely St. I (Tanjung Alai, 50-200 cages), St. II (Pulau Gadang, 200-500 cages) and St. III (Dam Site , 500-700 cages). Periphyton samples were taken by scraping the surface of the immersed cage using tooth brush (10x10 cm2). Periphyton collected were then preserved in lugol 2-3 drop/40 ml and then was identified based on Hiroyuki (1977), Yunfang (1995), Sachlan (1982) and Bellinger and Sigee (2010).Result shown that there were 49 periphyton species present and they are belonged to 6 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (15 species), Chlorophyceae (18 species), Chrysophyceae (1 species), Cyanophyceae (13 species), Dinophyceae (1 species) and Xanthophyceae (1 species) and the periphyton abundance was 35,945-60,690 cells/ cm2). In general, the H’ was 4.694-4.974; C was 0.038-0.052 and E was 0.890-0.917. The water quality parameters are as follows: temperature was 30-31 0C; brightness was 100.5-139.0 cm; turbidity was 1.50-2.68 FTU; pH was 5-6; DO was 5.6-6.0 mg/L; free CO2 was 3.9-4.5 mg/L; nitrate was 0.045-0.050 mg/L and phosphate was 0.035-0.041 mg/L. Based on periphyton community it can be concluded that the aquatic environment in the Koto Panjang Dam balance.Keyword : Peryphyton,Koto Panjang Dam, Kampar

Abstract

Productivity longline is one of the indicators in determining the potential fishing areas. The data used in this study is the catch, the area of the fishing grounds, the number of hook is used, and the temperature and salinity of the waters, the data’s is taken every fishing operation. This study aims to determine the productivity of longline, determine the relationship of productivity with the temperature and salinity of water and describe the species composition of the fish and the frequency of appearance. The method used is the case study method to follow the process of catching up with longline for 12 operations on 15 to April 28, 2015 in the waters of West Sumatra through the Port Ocean Bungus.                  The highest productivity of longline fishing gear is obtained 13,35kg / operation / GT and the lowest productivity was 5,01kg / operation / GT. Species composition catch during fishing operations that have the biggest part is yellow fin tuna with 36.2 %. A high frequency of appearance of the fish is layur fish Layur (Trichiurus Lepturus) 933, 30 % indicate that layur fish caught in each fishing operation. Oceanographic parameters of temperature and salinity has an influence on the productivity of longline fishing gear but the impact is low.       Keyword: Productivity, Longline, Tuna

Abstract

This research was aimmed to determine the effect of garlic addition at different concentration on the consumer acceptance to the wet Spirulina noddle. The method used was experimental using a completely randomized design that consisting of 4 level concentration of garlic added in the noddle, namely: M0 (0%), M1(3%), M2(6%) and M3 (9%). The results showed that the highest consumer acceptance to the noddle was addition of garlic 6% (M2) in the noddle produced that was the most preferred by 93,75%. The wet Spirulina noddle produced showed the appearance good with dark green color, tasted a little bit of garlic, chewy textureand the garlicflavor was quite strong. Its proximate composition was the of content moisture 61,37%, protein 6,82%, fat 2,71%, ash 1,11% and carbohydrate 27,88% content.
