Abstract

This research was conducted in June 2015 in the waters of the Sungai Bela village Indragiri Hilir in the relationship of organic matter in the water column and sediment in the waters of the Sungai Bela village. Water samples were taken in the surface of the Sungai Bela using a sample bottle, sediment samples taken using Eickman grab of 16 sampling points. The content of organic matter in the water the highest at station 3 (35.19%) and the  lowest for the Station 1 (19.44%). Organic matter the highest at station 3 is 28.20% and the lowest for the station 2 is 20.24%. Based on statistical test of the relationship of concentration of organic matter in water and sediment are strong relationships, or there is a positive relationship. The overall characteristics of the sediment fraction is dominated by silt fraction.   Key words :Organik, Sedimen, Air, Sungai Bela

Abstract

The research was conducted in December 2015-February 2016 on mangrove ecosystems in the coastal area of South part of Rupat Island, Riau Province. The aim of research was to analyze the content of biomass and carbon in mangrove ecosystems as well as the ability to store carbon in the forest area. The survey method was applied in this research and carbon analysis was carried out in the Marine Chemistry Laboratory of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science of University of Riau. The results showed that the potential mangrove biomass was directly proportional to mangrove carbon stocks. The average yield of carbon stocks of biomass and organic carbon reserves of soil amounted to 58.8 tons/ha and 920.12 tons/ha, while the average yield of total carbon stocks was 978,92 tons/ha.Keyword : Mangrove, Biomass, Carbon Stocks, Rupat Island1)

Abstract

Tajwid Lake is an oxbow lake that receives water from the Kampar River during rainy season. To understand the types and abundance of phytoplankton present in that lake, a study has been conducted in Ferbruary 2016. There were 3 stations, Station 1 is in the inlet, Station 2 is in the middle of the lake and Station 3. Vertical sampling sites were decided base on the transparency of the water namely at surface water, in the middle of lake, and in the bottom of lake. Samplings were conducted 3 times, once/ week. Results shown that there are 36 species of phytoplankton present in the lake. They were classified into four classes, namely: Bacillariophyceae (8 species), Chloropyhceae (17 species), Cyanophyceae (8 species) and Euglenophyceae (3 species). The average of phytoplankton abundance was around 723 – 4,485 cells/L, species diversity index (H’) was 4.76 – 5.01, uniformity index (E) was 0.71 – 0.86 and dominance index (C) was 0.034 – 0.044. While the water quality parameters were as follows: temperature 28 – 300C, transparency 51.3 – 69 cm, depth 6.3 – 12.3 m, pH 5, CO2 4.7 – 13.9 mg/L, DO 2.3 – 8.3 mg/L, nitrate 0.02 – 0.11 mg/L and phosphate 0,02 – 0.1 mg/L. Based on the abundance of pyhtoplankton, it can be concluded that the Tajwid Lake water can be categorized as oligotrophic.Keyword : Phytoplankton, Langgam Sub-District, Tajwid Oxbow Lake

Abstract

The aims of this research was to determine the response of green catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus) fry on the use of chickpea leaves (Vigna sinensis)  fermented in the feed to spurred growth and feed efficiency and to find out the best given percentage of chickpea leaves to the maximum growth of green catfish fry. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor, five treatments and three replications. The substitution ratio of soybean flour with chickpea leaves flour were P1=100% : 0%; P2 = 95% : 5%; P3 = 90% : 10%; P4 = 85% : 14% and P5 = 80% : 20%. The parameters were observed  concsist of digestibility of feed, feed efficiency, protein retention and specific growth rate of green catfish fry. The  result showed that the chickpea leaves fermented in feed can replace soybean flour as a protein source in green catfish feed. The treatment in P4 (85% - 15%) were the best treatment with digestibility of feed 45,95%, feed efficiency 34,25%, protein retention 26,98% specific growth rate 4,18% and for feed cost analysis was Rp.7960   Keyword : Chickpea leaves, Feed, Hemibagrus nemurus.

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the best natural feed on the growth and survival of larvae Ingir-ingir (M.nigriceps). This research used the experimental method, with completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 levels of treatment and 3 replications. The treatments in this research were P1 (Feeding naturally worms Tubifex sp.), P2 (natural feeding Kutu air), and P3 (natural feeding Artemia sp.).The result showed that feeding Tubifex sp. naturally on the best to feed the growth of absolute weight that produces 0.341 grams, the growth of the absolute length of 3.17 cm, the daily growth rate of 16.195%. While the best survival rate found in the natural feeding Tubifex sp. and Kutu air each 90 %.Keywords: Natural food, M. nigriceps, growth, and survival

Abstract

This research was held on March, 2016 at the Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of different incubation temperatures to the rate of yolk absorption, rate of growth in length, the efficiency of yolk utilization, survival of endogenous feeding phase and to know the right time to start feeding in the larval Catfish (Mystus nigriceps) stage. The research method used in this research was complete randomized design (CRD) with one factor, four treatment temperatures which were 260C, 280C, 300C and 320C and three replications. The results showed the highest rate of yolk-sac absorption was at temperature of 320C 20,07% (52 hours) but the maintenance medium temperatures 28°C and 30°C was the best temperatures for the rate growth in length, efficiency of yolk utilization and survival of endogenous feeding phase.Key words: Mystus nigriceps, temperature, yolk absorption

Abstract

This research was conducted on February 24th up to March 24th 2016 at Balai Perikanan Budidaya Laut Batam. This research aims to understand the effect of adding probiotic and investigate the best dose of probotic for growth of fish silver pompano (Trachinotus blochii, Lacepede). The research method was experimental method and Complete Random Device (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The treatments in this research was P0= no Probiotic (control); P1= 1.0 g probotic/kg of feed ; P2= 2.0 g Probiotic/Kg of feed and P3= 3.0 g probiotic/kg of feed. To understand the development of the fish, body weight and total length was measured every 10 days. The result shown that the best dose of probiotic was P3 with 3.0 g probiotic/kg of feed which provides absolute growth body weigths (1.01g), growth total length (2.57 cms) and survival rate was (100%). But the best efficiency of feed was in P1 (1g probiotic/kg of feed) namely (95.52%).Key Words : Probiotic, Silver pompano, Growth, Survival
