Abstract

Surface roughness is a very important factor in the production of the one turn-milling process. Turn-milling is a combined machining process of turning and milling processes with additional tools (cutting) that rotate simultaneously with the rotation of the workpiece. Turn-milling processes are classified in orthogonal turn-milling methods, co-axial turn-milling, tangential turn-milling and each feeding method has an up and down feeding position. The resulting surface quality is also affected by the parameters of the machining process in the form of workpiece rotation and feeding. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of parameters on surface roughness and to know the optimal parameters of surface roughness by doing tangential process turn-milling position up. By varying the parameter variables, the surface roughness produced in this study is influenced by the rotation of the workpiece and feeding. The slower rotation of the workpiece then the lower the resulting surface roughness value, while the smaller feeding then the smaller the resulting surface roughness value from the tangential turn-milling process with a constant tool rotation at 25,000 rpm. The optimal parameter is the rotation of 400 rpm workpiece with 0.051 mm/rev roughness value of 1.632 μm found on the N7 roughness.Keyword: Turn-milling, Tangential turn-milling, Rotation, Feeding, Surface roughness.

Abstract

Solar energy is light radiation and heat from the sun that is harnessed to generate electrical energy. Solar cell is one of the examples from solar energy usage and has been spreadly used by global society including application towards traffic light which is the focus in this study. Simply, Solar cell is converting light energy into electrical energy which commonly installed statically with a certain tilt angle. Meanwhile, solar cell installation location geographically has a different maximum tilt angle every month. Solar tracker is a power booster combined with solar panel which could help it to move mechanically to keep upright angle position towards the sun in daily basis. In addition, Data logger system is used to record voltage, current, and power used to load. Through this study, battery with capacity 12V 3,5Ah and solar cell 50WP could enlighten traffic light maximally for 14 hours and 31 minutes by applying solar tracker as well as showed performance increament for 27,18% higher than non-tracker experiment.Keywords: Solar Cell, Solar Tracker, Traffic Light, Data Logger

Abstract

Travel time information is one of reference to planning a trip. Therefore it is needed a reliable travel time estimation method. Travel time estimation models used namely Instantaneous model using time mean speed (TMS) and space mean speed (SMS) based on spot speed data. Reability test result for instantaneous model based on TMS get time travel for Research road segment get value 7,472 minutes and based on SMS get value 7,785 minutes. Abstract

Membrane is a thin layer, a barrier between two phases that are semipermeable, and serves as a selective separation media. In this research, membrane was prepared from cellulose acetate by phase inversion method. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of solvent evaporation time to the performance of membranes asymmetry in the production of membranes for waste water treatment mall. Membrane prepared with variation of solvent evaporation time of 25, 45 and 65 seconds and operating pressure of 1, 3 and 5 bars. Characterization of the membrane is covering flux, rejection, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) and tensile strength. The results of SEM analysis showed all the membranes that are formed has an asymmetric structure. The results of FTIR analysis showed the absence of acetone solvent, acid formic and MSG in membrane. This research produed porous membrane and it had asymmetric structure.Key words : asymmetric membrane, mall, ultrafiltration and evaporation time

Abstract

Peat water has a low pH (3-5), brown (124-850 PtCo), and contains many organic substances that do not meet the standards of water quality requirements as Permenkes No.416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990. Therefore it is necessary for processing methods to eliminate pollutants contained in the peat water so it can be used according to quality standards, either by adsorption. Adsorbent used in this research is compost. Compost carbonized by variation of 30, 60 and 90 minutes, which is activated in physics at a temperature of 500 ° C. Adsorbent mass variations as much as 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 grams with a stirring speed of 100 rpm for 120 minutes. Characteristics of activated carbon in the form of compost moisture content, ash content, volatile and fixed carbon content obtained the best results in 60 minutes with a water content of 4.00%; ash content 0.99% volatile 1.57% and fixed carbon 97.44%. The efficiency of color reduction was measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The result showed that the highest efficiency was 81,63% at carbonization time 60 minutes with mass 5 gram and the lowest efficiency value was 66,57% at carbonization time 30 minutes with mass 1 gram.Keywords : Adsorbent, activated carbon, compost, color.

Abstract

This study refers to the characteristic studies of tensile strength and impact rates of polymeric foam materials composite sandwich panels and variations in the treatment of empty palm bunch fibers. This research is done by making specimen with different fiber treatment which then will be tested tensile strength and impact price to be analyzed. The results of the analysis in the study will be evaluated and compared each other. The purpose of this research is to obtain a board that can absorb impact energy and which has tensile strength. In the manufacture of sandwich panels specimen is done by varying the boiling of fiber, fiber counting and long fiber counting. The composite obtained is a plate with a thickness of 3 mm. The number of specimens made was 42 specimens. Composite specimens with TKS fiber boiling treatment in aquades with enumeration (counting) does not affect the value of the ultimate tensile strength, but increasing the value of the impact price and decreasing as the enumeration took place. Composite specimens with TKS fiber immersion treatment in NaOH solution with enumeration decreased the value of the ultimate tensile strength during the enumeration time, but did not affect the value of the impact price. Composite specimens with TKS fiber boiling treatment with enumeration did not affect the value of ultimate tensile strength and composite impact price.Keywords :Ploymeric Foam, Fiber treatment, Sandwich Panels, Empety palm bunch fibers.

Abstract

Currently the increasing of electricity bill become hot topic in Indonesia society. The increasing of electricity bills is due to the uncontrolled usage of home appliances. In addition, the uncontrolled usage of appliance will also cause a fire. One of the alternative solution to over come by deploying a remotely control system for home appliances. This paper purpose a home automation control system design prototyping. This design system is expected comply to Internet of Things (IoT) system. The system consists of hardware and software. The hardware consists of arduino and esp8266. The testing scenario is excuted as the following condition depend an internet for traffic and looping process of and vary of router distance. Conducted three tests based on the distance of the device to the router is specified as follow 30 cm, 5 m and 10 m, respectively. Based on the measurement result, the first test provides 1.93-4.20 seconds of data transmission time. The second test is 2.05-5.20 seconds and the third test is 4.74-8.51 seconds. These results are slightly higher than previous study with only 2-6 seconds. However, this system has ability to receive 100% data compared to other that is only 91.7%.Keyword :Internet of Things, Home Applianced Controller, Control System

Abstract

Castability is a measur of the ability of an alloy to be formed according to the desired shape using a casting process, which is limited by fluidity. Qudong method 1999, used in this research with varying pouring temperature; 650oC, 700oC, 750oC, mold temperature; 100oC, 200oC, 300oC and cavity thickness; 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, 3.0 mm, 3.5 mm, 4.0 mm. As an effort to increasing castability, this research giving a rotation to look the effect of variation mold temperature, pouring temperature and rotation. Fluidity increased with the increasing pouring temperature, mold temperatur and rotation. Fluidity increases with cavity thickness, maximum fluidity achieved at pouring temperature 750oC, mold temperature 300oC and rotation 1500rpm at 2.0-4.0 mm with a length of 120 mm and minimum fluidity can be filled with molten metal is at 0.5 mm with a length of 15.5 mm.Keywords : fluidity, molten aluminum cans, pour temperature, mold temperature, rotation.

Abstract

In principle, the drying process involves the process of heat transfer and mass movement that occurs simultaneously. First, the heat must be transferred from the heating medium to the material. Furthermore, after water evaporation occurs, the moisture formed must be moved through the material structure to the surrounding medium. The purpose of this study is to determine the time required to dry bananas with water content that has been determined. The calculation analysis of consumption and energy cost for banana dryer system using heat pump. It is based on result oftheoritical calculations with closed air circle. The advantages of this study as development in the field of energy saving with refrigeration technology and air conditioning.From the experimental results and the analysis obtained the average temperature of dryer indoor that is 44,5oC and 47oC.Keywords: Drying, Temperature, Banana dryer system

Abstract

Fire is one of the most common disasters. It causes a lot of collateral damages annually. Not just material damages, casualties also took place frequently. In accordance to deter, there’s a lot of challenge faced, for example the difficulties of finding the source of fire as early as possible, that let the fire continue to spread easily. This research attempts to examine how to anticipate the occurrence of a fire that requires a device that works automatically and can detect early and minimize the possibility of widespread fire. Therefore, a tool was designed to prevent all losses cause by fire. One of them is by utilizing early warning system. Device are built using the HC-12 module as the sender and receiver of serial data through the air media. As the test result, it was known that HC-12 module can transmit and receive data in distance reaching 200 – 1300 m. .Keyword : HC-12 Transceiver Module, Arduino Pro Mini, Temperature Sensor LM35
