Abstract

The bearing capacity of clay soils will decrease by the presence of organic materials in that clay soils. Therefore, the usage of additives such as cement and DIFA SS can be an option to improve the strength of this kind of soil. This research aims to analyze the effects of organic content (varying from 3, 6, 9, and 12% by dry weight) to the CBR values of clay, and to analyze the increase of its strength after stabilized using cement and DIFA SS (5% and 1% by dry weight). The organic clay samples were reconstituted in the laboratory by mixing clay and peat soils. CBR tests were conducted after 0, 7, and 14 days of curing period, and after 4 days for soaked specimens. The results indicate that CBR values of mixing clay decreased significantly from 16,89% to 10,39% due to the addition of 3% organic content. After 14 days, the CBR values of cement-stabilized clay resulted in an increase to 141,04% while the CBR values of clay soils with the addition of cement and DIFA SS improved to 97,17%. Furthermore, the higher the quantity of organic content added to the soils, the lower the CBR values of the stabilized soils. From these results, it is concluded that organic content strongly affects the effectiveness of cement and DIFA SS treatment of the soils. Abstract

Recent development progress in Pekanbaru is increasing rapidly. This condition is marked by the number buildings that have been built. One of the buildings that have been built is hotel. Each buildings has a risk and potential to fire, that can cause casualties. The research aimed to analyze of building reliability of Hotel Royal Asnof Pekanbaru against fire hazard protection system according to Ministry of Public Works Regulation number 26,2008. This study used Check List form PD-T-11-2005-C (Fire Safety Inspection on Building) and the result from this form is used to get reliability for fire hazard protection system using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The result showed that the reliability of protection system on building Hotel Royal Asnof Pekanbaru according to Check List Method was 88.788 %, while the result calculated by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was 88.125 %, and categorized well, so that the fire protection system on this building is reliable. Abstract

Peat restoration are needed to stop and curb the rate of further damage and rehabilitate peat ecosystems. The Peat Restoration Agency Republic of Indonesia has implemented peat restoration efforts one of them through rewetting activities within the territory of the Peat Hydrological Unity (PHU). The peat land village of Lukun village has burnt and degraded over years. With the rewetting of the peat, it is expected that the hydrologically disturbed peat will be improved and the peat will remain in wet conditions so that the degradation rate and potential of peat fires can be prevented. Therefore, the analysis of the impact of the development of canal against groundwater table using the dipwells tool to monitor and evaluate post-construction of the channel canal. Testing is done by varying the opening of the door on the channel canal. The results obtained from dipwells in the form of graph of groundwater fluctuation from several channel canals with variation of open cap of channel of the channel influenced by rainfall, hydrotopography and characteristic on peatland. Abstract

Hydrologic restoration using canal block is a developing way for re-wetting peatlands, like as in Lukun Village, Tebing Tinggi Timur, Meranti Islands. The groundwater flow around the canal block should be analyzed to determine the effect of the canal block on the surrounding peatland. The analysis was carried out using Groundwater Velocimeter tool in pairs around the canal block. The results obtained from Grounwater Velocimeter is velocity and direction of groundwater flow shown from of ink on the paper. The direction of groundwater flow on peatlands are irregular as it depends on the elevation and pressure difference in area. Keywords : Groundwater Velocimeter, Groundwater Flow, Peatland

Abstract

Road side which connected Pekanbaru-Dumai is one of the most important transportation lane in Riau and was projected as over capacity road. Therefore, a highway design and planning needs to be done in order to overcome these problems. The construction of a highway needs a quite large investment according to feasibility study which came from private. In order to get on investment full cost recovery analysis on this project in essential. The full cost recovery analysis aims to analyse the finance appropriateness on the construction of Pekanbaru-Minas highway with the life span for 40 years. Analysis was done by assuming the traffic growth rate factor (i) 5% /year, bank interests 9,78% /year, inflation was calculated as 5,82% /year from the established fee, ie Rp 860,00 /km. Financial analysis results showed that investment in the development of highway Pekanbaru-Minas give Internal Rate of Return (IRR) result is 10.35%, Net Present Value (NPV) Rp 94.037.000.244,59, Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) 1.063 and payback period for 26 years. According to this analysis, it could be concluded that the construction of Pekanbaru-Minas Highway is worthy to be proceeded. Keywords: Highway, Rate, Financial Properness

Abstract

The increasing number of population and the development of Bengkalis Island area that happens every year, give effect to the improvement of water requirement. It causes problem of imbalance between the availability and requirement of water. Therefore, water balance analysis in Bengkalis Island become an interesting thing to be studied. The water availability can be calculated using the Mock method or Nreca method. Water availability is calculated under several conditions, such as: dry (Q80%), normal (Qaverage) and wet (Q20%). While the water requirement is calculated based on domestic water requirement and non-domestic requirement. The water balance analysis calculated based on dry conditions (Q80%) can be concluded with a water surplus, only at the time of August period 2 which experienced deficit of 1,481 m3/sec . As for wet conditions (Q20%) and normal conditions (Qaverage) will be surplus for the next 20 years. Keywords: water availability, water requirement, water balance, Mock method, Nreca method

Abstract

Concrete is the common material that is used on construction. Concrete will be subjected to loading during the construction until its service time. Continuous loading on concrete caused cracks in concrete. Cracks can also occur due to be changes in temperature, shrinkage, and also when the concrete was ready to casted that caused by cement hydration . The purpose of this study was to obtained crack patterns existed on reinforced concrete beam during the application of flexural load. The specimen used on this study was reinforced concrete beam with the cross section of 10 cm x 20 cm and with the length of 125 cm. The upper and lower longitudinal reinforcement for the beam was 2D8 and 2D10 respectively. The shear reinforcement of the beam was D6-167. The result of this study was found that the crack pattern that occurred was a flexural crack. Keywords: concrete, cracks, reinforcement, flexural crack.

Abstract

Reinforced concrete (RC) beam is one of the structural elements that is often encountered in field applications and is a considerable element of its role in carrying flexural load. The purpose of this research is to analyze the pure bending behavior of RC beam in the form of stress on the reinforcement bars by using finite element method. Finite element analysis is done by using software LUSAS v.16. The load was applied at 2 points at a distance of 1/3 of beam span  from each supports and it was gradually increased until the beam  cracked. The result of yield tensile strength of reinforcement bar was 358.65 MPa. It was found that the tensile stress of the tension reinforcement bars in the event of  first crack was 72.1 MPa, while the tensile stress of these bars in the event of maximum applied load was 379.75 MPa. It can be concluded that the tensile reinforcement bars at the maximum load gained from the finite element analysis has yeilded. Abstract

The heat during the fire will change the nominal moment capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) beam. The purpose of this study is to identify the nominal moment capacity of RC beam due to exposure of high temperatures with the heating temperatures of 500°C, 700°C, 800°C, and 1000°C. The duration of the heating time in each temperature is 0,5 hours, 1 hour, 1,5 hours, 2 hours, 3 hours, and 4 hours. In this study, the moment capacity was calculated by using the cross-section reduction method proposed in Eurocode EN 1992 1-2 (2004). The concrete strength and the yield strength of material used in this study was 35 MPa and 400 MPa, respectively. The results showed that the residual moment capacity of RC beam at temperature of 500°C was 95.835%, at temperature of 700°C was 82.255%, at temperature of 800°C was 71.238% , and at a temperature of 1000°C was 51.743% from the moment capacity of the normal concrete strength. Abstract

WiGig (Wireless Gigabit) is the next generation technology of WiFi (Wireless Fidelity). WiGig speeds reach 7Gbps / s and have great access. In this study, microstrip antenna Square Patch Array MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) for WiGig application operating at 60 GHz is discussed. Microstrip antenna is designed by using MIMO Technique to increase the gain. Antenna is simulated by using CST(Computer Simulation Technology) Microwave Studio software. From the simulation results, the antenna can operate at a frequency of 60 GHz. The bandwidth obtained is 4.38 GHz (7.3%) on VSWR 1.06 and the gain is 14.3 dB.Keyword: WiGig, MIMO, Gain, Bandwidth, VSWR
