Abstract

The road is a land transportation infrastructure that has an important role to facilitate economic activity in a certain place. Garuda Sakti street Tampan district is a causeway that connects city of Pekanbaru to Patapahan Kampar, and also be a connecting road from Pekanbaru to Ujung Batung Rokan regency, damage found on the road can cause inconvenience to road users. So as to improve the comfort and safety of road users do maintenance by calculating the added thick layer ( overlay ) on roads Garuda Sakti Km 001+000 until 004+000 by comparing the two different methods, namely methods pd T-05- 2005-B and User Guidelines Pavement Design number 002/M/BM/2013, resulting in different thickness that is equal to 24 cm with D wakil 1616 mm and FK 19,36% for method pd T-05-2005-B and 14 cm with Dwakil and FK 20% fot guidelines Number 002/M/BM/2013, with the type of handling that is reconstruction. Abstract

The application of concrete to the sulfate environment potentially cause damage to concrete. The use of bacteria in concrete can be a concrete innovation to recover concrete (Self Healing Concrete) from the problem of concrete cracks. This study was conducted to examine the effect of Bacillus Subtilis bacteria on compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete in the sulfate environment. This research was conducted by adding 25 ml Bacillus Subtilis bacteria with concentration of 105 CFU/ml into a concrete mixture. Test objects were plain concrete beams with a size of 60x15x15 cm and cylinders with a diameter of 15 cm and a height of 30 cm. The variation of test specimens consisted normal concrete soaked in normal water (BNN), bacterial concrete soaked in normal water (BBN) and bacterial concrete soaked in sulfate solution (BBS). Two tests were carried out, namely compressive strength test and flexural strength test. The test result showed that the compressive strength of BBS at the age of 28 and 56 days was 14% and 24% lower then that of BNN. Comparing to BBN, compressive strength of BBS at 28 and 56 days were lower 26% and 34%, respectively. Furthermore, the test result showed that the flexural strength of BBS at the age of 28 and 56 days was 14% and 9% higher than that of BN. Comparing to BBN, flexural strength of BBS at 28 and 56 days were higher 13% and 2%, respectively. The addition of bacteria to the concrete in the sulfate environment increases the flexural strength of the concrete.Keywords: Self Healing Concrete, sulfate environment, Bacillus Subtilis, compressive strength, flexural strength.

Abstract

The Planetarium as a medium of learning and recreation on the science of astronomy can be displayed in the form of simulation demonstration/performances of celestial bodies. Seeing the highdevelopment of knowledge, Science, and Technology Astronomy, Pekanbaru as a developing city has a vision as a Smart City certainly demands to develop human resources in the field of Astronomy. Astronomy induced the need for container that can accommodate the learning and recreation needs with identical impression of the Planetarium. A Futuristic Architectural approach will be implemented in the building’s design that will expressing a creatiy and innovative display forms. Based on data collection, literature study, comparative study, and empirical study, they can be concluded the concept of Solar System able to make the Planetarium as the core design that is surrounded by supporting activities. By applying special materials on façade with future-oriented can be displayed at the design of this Planetarium.Keywords: Planetarium, Astronomy, Futuristic Architecture.

Abstract

Thematic parks as recreation areas encourage arts and social community. The Thematic Park area in Pekanbaru has reached 15.65% of the 30% availability of public green open space that has the potential to be a Smart Park. This opportunity can be used as an alternative to present Smart Park which is suitable for children. The research method applied to the design of the Thematic Park as a Smart Park is thematic garden architectural principles. This can be completed using an effective and innovative architecture metaphor approach and formed into an expressive and functional visual form. The concept applied to the design of the Smart Park is related to Atomic Rutherford. The electrons in the atom are formed as educational buildings that are scattered in theregional order and linked to the skybridge as an application of electron orbitals. Meanwhile, the atomic nucleus is formed as a waterwork zone by utilizing the sloping contour on the Thematic Park area.Keywords: Thematic Park, Smart Park, Metaphor, Atom Rutherford

Abstract

The degression of road performance was caused by several factors, particularly by road side activities. Tuanku Tambusai Road, the front side of Mall SKA is an economic region with large volume of traffic. This condition could be assumed in case the traffic volume gets higher, it will decrease the performance of road side, especially on busy hours due to the movement of vehicles to SKA Mall, the stopping public transportations, street vendors, and the parking motorcycles at road side. This research aims to evaluate the performance of Tuanku Tambusai Road, at the front of SKA Mall and find some solutions to overcome theproblems. The road performance analysis was based on Manual Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia (MKJI) 1997. The traffic data was collected from 3 days long, i.e. Saturday (3/2/2018), Sunday (4/2/2018) and Monday (5/2/2018). The results showed that busy hour was happened on Sunday at 12.45-13.45 WIB with Q = 2579,6 smp/hour, C = 3234 smp/hour dan DS = 0,80. Due to DS was higher than MKJI standard, which is DS < 0,75 some planning needs to be done in order to increase the performance of road. In order to reach the maximum standard, a specific lane was planned for vehicles which made their way into SKA Mall. The results showed that DS was able to meet MKJI standard, i.e. DS = 0,59.Keywords : Road Performance, MKJI 1997, Side Activities.

Abstract

Fire is one of the factors causing failure in the reinforce concrete. The surface of the concrete will become black due to significant increase in the temperature. Cracks occur of an imbalance in volume changes exist between cement paste and aggregate. This study aims to analyze the effect of the rate of changes in temperature on the RC during the fire. The method used is to analyze the rate of changes in temperature according to ASTM E- 119 standard. Analysis was conducted by using finite element software, LUSAS v.16. The column specimen used in this study had rectangular ratio of 350 mm × 600 mm with the length of 4000 mm. The amount of longitudinal bars was 10D19, while the yield strength of bars and the concrete strength was 400 MPa and 45 MPa, respectively. The column element burned with a duration of 4 hours. The results showed there was a difference in term of temperature change’s rate between LUSAS v.16 and manual calculation was 3,7%. This research can be used as a reference on designing fireproof buildings so as to prevent building collapse during a fire.Keywords : ASTM E-119, rate of temperature, LUSAS v.16

Abstract

The largest coconut plantation in Indonesiais located in peatlands of the Indragiri Hilir regency. High productivity of hybrid coconut is a source of income for farmers, communities and local revenue. Lack of facility to accommodate the needs of research and cultivation, breedingof hybrid varieties becomebackgounddesignof a Hybrid Coconut Research and Cultivation Center. This designis conducted by combining function of the facility in principle according to ‘form follow function’ and analyzed the design characteristics of Louis Henry Sullivan. The concept used in this design is optimum cubical space. Thisconcept means optimal using space to accommodate activities in buildings,which is expected to be research, education, and cultivation.The result of optimum cubical space application concept in Hybrid Coconut Research and Cultivation Center consisted zoning functions,internal space arrangements to accommodate the main functions, and on the building facades that apply the design characteristics.Keywords: Research Center, Cultivation, form follow function, Louis Henry Sullivan

Abstract

PM2.5 pollutant are very harmful to human because it has a very small size which can infect the human lungs easily. Distribution of particulate is very difficult to seen by human eyes. One of the ways to know distribution of particulate besides direct measurement in the field is using a model. The model used is AERMOD VIEW. This research was conducted to know the pattern of emission distribution from boiler and incinerator chimney in annual scenario by doing windrose analysis. The results of modeling show distribution of pollutant tends leads to the southeast and north from PTPN V Sei Galuh. Distribution of particulate from the source is affected by wind direction characteristic.Keywords: AERMOD VIEW, PM2.5, palm oil industry.

Abstract

Concrete is a brittle material and has low tensile strength comparing to other material. When the cracks occur, the quality of concrete will decrease, so the new innovations will be created to cover the weakness of concrete. The innovation is self healing concrete that uses bacteria as a medium that can close the cracks of concrete. This research used 25 ml bacillus subtilis with a concentration of 105 cells/ml as admixture to the concrete mix. The test conducted in this research was compressive and flexural tests carried out at the age of 28 dan 56 days. The test consists of two types of loading namely crushing crack test where the concrete cylinder was loaded until it failed and initial crack test when the concrete cylinder was loaded until first crack appeared. For the case of conducted crushing crack bacterial concrete were able to increase compressive strength of 14.71% and flexural strength of 6.96% compared to those of normal concrete at the age of 56 days. Furthermore, initial crack test conducted at bacterial concrete was able to withstand compressive and flexural loads of 17.15% and 3.17% higher than those of normal concrete. Abstract

Concrete is a common material used in structures, such as foundations, roads, and bridges. Concrete has a high compressive strength, but the tensile strength of the concrete is low. At the time the tensile strength limit of concrete is reached, the crack will exist on the tension side of the concrete. The use of bacteria as an added ingredient in concrete is an innovation to reduce the crack. According to Pangeran and Karolina’s research (2017), the addition of bacteria to the concrete can also increase the compressive strength of the concrete. In this research, a 25 ml of Bacillus subtilis solution with the concentration of 105 CFU/ml were added to a concrete mixture. The concrete was soaked in normal water and sulfate solution with the concentration of 150 ppm and the physical properties were examined such as workability, porosity, and shrinkage. There were 3 variations in the specimens, namely normal concrete (BN), bacterial concrete (BB), and bacterial concrete soaked in sulfate solution (BBS). Theresults of this study indicated that slump on specimen BBS was 8.05% and 18.98% higher than specimen BN and BB, respectively. The porosity on specimen BBS was 11.07% and 14.47% higher than specimen BN and BB, respectively. Lastly, the shrinkage on specimen BBS was 1.42% and 18.54% higher than specimen BN and BB, respectively. So it can be concluded that bacteria does have a good effect on the physical properties and soaking the bacterial concrete on the sulfate can adversely affect the physical properties of concrete.Keywords : concrete, bacillus subtilis bacteria, sulfate, physical properties
