Abstract

Bagasse is a waste material and the use of this material for construction is still limiterd. In this study, fiber extracted from bagasse was used in teh concrete. This research aimed to examine the mechanical properties of concrete, namely compressive strength, bending strength and split tensile strength. The percentage of bagasse fiber used was 0.3%, 0.5% and 0.7% of the weight of coarse aggregate. Compresive strength was tested on the age 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days, while the flexural strength and split tensile strength were tested on the age of 28 days. Workability test conducted on specimens contained 0.3%, 0.5%, and 0.7% of bagasse showed the volume of slump at 8 cm, 6.5 cm and 4.5 cm. In testing the compressive strength of concrete, the highest value was produced from normal concrete which was 22.92 MPa.The value of flexural strength of concrete increased by 9.47% from the normal flexural strength of concrete with the addition of 0.5% bagasse at 4.45 MPa. Different with the value of concrete split tensile strength, the highest value was obtained in the addition of 0.3% bagasse, which was 2.21 MPa with an increase of 19.48% of normal concrete. This research concluded that the addition of bagasse fiber can reduce workability.On compressive strength testing with the addition of bagasse fiber, the compressive strength was lower than that of normal concrete but still within the range of concrete plan quality 17 MPa. Addition of bagasse fiber to the concrete mixture could increase the flexural strength by 0.5% and split tensile strength by 0.3%.With the addition of bagasse fiber to concrete, it is hoped that bagasse waste can be utilized and concrete quality is achieved Keywords: Fiber Concrete, Bagasse Fiber, Split Tensile Strength, Flexural Strength, Compressive Strength

Abstract

Palm oil mill effluent containing pollutants such as organic matter and high suspended solids that contributes to environmental pollution. Organic material contained in palm oil mill effluent can be used as nutrition by microalgae Chlorella sp. which is entrapped inside the alginate bead and can reduce TSS content in palm oil mill effluent. The TSS removal process was carried out in a flat-photobioreactor with various concentrations of algal bead in the amount of 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 beads/mL of wastewater with contact times of 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 days. Based on the results of the study, the best TSS removal efficiency was found in flatphotobioreactors with concentrations of algal bead 12 beads/mL of wastewater on the seventh day at 80.1%. Abstract

Bioplastic is one of the organic plastic that has been used as an eco-friendly food packagings whether has ability to degraded by nature. Sago starch has a potential to become raw material for bioplastics manufactured, and adding a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) aims to increase the tensile strength. The purposes of this research are determine the effect of sago starch, citric acid, CMC and glycerol of the characteristics bioplastics. Bioplastics product was characterized by few tests such as tensile strength (tensile strenght), elongation (elongation at break), and biodegradation. The analysis showed that filler CMC, plasticizer glycerol, and citric acid give an impact to mechanical properties of bioplastic. The best composition is bioplastic with (CMC 25% b/b, 25% b/b glycerol and 3% citric acid b/b) which is tensile strength of 8.23 MPa, elongation of 24,20%, and biodegradation 59,01%. Abstract

Pekanbaru has around 700 registered and baptized congregations. The large number of congregations with joint activities carried out routinely, there is no available place that can accommodate according to capacity. Besides, many young people who have potential in character development need a facility that can accommodate all activities inside or outside the church. Hence, the architect designes a building that can facilitate these activities. The Seventh-Day Adventist Center is a place for worship activities, character development and other activities located in Pekanbaru. The Seventh-Day Adventist Center applies the principles contained in the theme of Contemporary Architecture as a design reference according to the function of the building. The concept of the Seventh-day Adventist Center area is "Seven Enlightenment" which aims to fulfill worship activities that are in accordance with the needs of the Adventist Church. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. Contemporary architecture makes the appearance of the building more expressive and contrasting than the surrounding environment. The combination of natural materials and high-tech materials is applied to the facade of the building so as to produce buildings that have strong impressions and appreciation. Abstract

The rapid development of telecommunications requires better network technology. Computer networks are a very important and fundamental part of the development of network technology. There are still some unsatisfactorythings in the conventional network architecture such as non-centralized networks that cause difficulty in managing networks on a large scale. Centralized network is needed to be able to control network traffic more flexibly. SDN (Software Defined Network) is a centralized network concept that physically separates the control and forwading plane. In terms of capabilities, SDN is able to monitor networks more efficiently than conventional networks. This research applied a SDN network at PT Chevron. Mininet was used to design and simulate SDN networks at PT Chevron. The simulation results of network streaming audio show a delay of 12.81 m / s, throughput of 0.291 mbit / sec and packet loss of 0%. The simulation results show better performance compared to conventional networks that are currently still used by PT Chevron. Keywords:Network, SDN, Delay, Throughput, Packet loss.

Abstract

The success of the contractor in getting a job (project) can be seen in the process called tender. In tender phase, as a Presidential Regulation of The Republic of Indonesia Number 4 in 2015 explanation about government procurement. Generally, the stage of bid evaluation is divided into 4 stages, that are administrative evaluation stage, technical evaluation, price evaluation, and verification stages, all use an electronic procurement system called Layanan Pengadaan Secara Elektronik (LPSE). Based on the regulation above, this research purposes to find out the failure variables and the percentage of its variables in each process the construction services auction in government project, especially in Riau Province. The primary data that was obtained from the quetionnaire to contractor companies and interview with LPSE staff, and secondary data was obtained from the LPSE website of Riau Province, speficifically the auction of road and building project from 2015 to 2017. A certain spread sheet application program was used to calculate and analyze data, and presented in some bar charts. As the result, the dominant failure in the bid evaluation phase during 2015 to 2017 are, (1) Administrative evaluation: it does not fulfill the requirements for validity period of offering letter not less than the time as stated in the Election Document (27%), (2) Technical evaluation: the schedule for the execution of the work offered is not as stated in the Election Document (43%), (3) Price evaluation: it does not fulfill the lowest price requirements, so it cannot be evaluated, because it has already received 3 aritmethic lowest offer that passed the evaluation (69%), (4) evaluation of verification: it does not fulfill requirements attaching Quarry permit in accordance to requirements in bid documents (44%) and addendum and proof of completeness of minimum number of personnel (67%). Abstract

Banana midrib (Musa Paradisiaca) can be used as an ideal pore-forming template for fabricating hydroxyapatite (HA) implant because it has an architecture which formed a hierarchical multimodal pore system. The purpose of this research is for fabrication of HA-based bone implant with the utilization of banana midrib as a porous-making template. Banana midrib was cut into circular samples of 1 cm diameter and length 1 cm. Banana midrib was then impregnated with a slurry made by mixing (8,32, 10, 11,68) grams of HA, sago 11% of HA, 3% Darvan 821A and 10 grams of aquadest. The mixture wa stirred for 24 hours to form a slurry. The substrates were impregnated and then dried at 120oC for 2 hours. The obtained green bodies then burned at 600oC for 1 hour and followed by sintering at 13000oC for 1 hour. The result showed that the porosity of the implant in the range of 54,27-57,64% and compressive strength 2,99-5.58 MPa, respectively. The formed pores have a diameter of 30-50 μm. The fabricated implant can be applied mechanically to cancellous bone.Keywords: banana midrip, bone implant, hydroxyapatite, scaffold

Abstract

Development Area I is for the residential area, trade and service center, and government office center in Pekanbaru City. Development area I is the center of service, which has the potensial as one of the contributors to CO2 emissions into the air. The purpose of this research is to amount of total primary CO2 emissions with carbon footprint method from household activities in Development Area I, Pekanbaru City. The method of this research used IPCC (1996) method to calculation of primary CO2 emissions and using primary data and secondary data, primary data was obtained from surveys and interviews related to fuel use in the household and secondary data was obtained from relevant agencies such as regional maps and demographic data. The result of this research was knew the amount of total primary CO2 emissions from household activities in the Development Area I in Pekanbaru City was about 1.464,80 tons CO2/month. Abstract

Cement clinker used as solid base catalyst and activated through calcination method. Effect of calcination temperature on the catalytic performance studied. The catalyst with the highest activity is obtained when the calcination temperature of 800 °C and the calcination time of 7 hours with transesterification reaction conditions are a molar ratio of methanol/oil 6:1, catalyst dosage of 3% by weight, temperature of 70 °C for 2 hours with yield biodiesel results reached 76,84%. CaO, SiO2, 2CaO.SiO2 and 3CaO.SiO2 materials found in the catalyst through x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and specific surface area of catalyst is 35,879 m2/g through Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. Main composition of biodiesel found through Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis, such as methyl palmitate, methyl oleate, methyl stearic, methyl myristate, methyl arachidate and methyl laurate.Keywords: biodiesel, calcium oxide, catalysts, cement clinker, transesterification.

Abstract

Energy use still depends on petroleum energy which is non-renewable energy. As a solution, it is necessary to diversify energy other than petroleum. One of energy diversification is by utilizing microalgae as bioenergy raw material. Scenedesmus sp. is one of the microalgae which has the potential as a bioenergy feedstock. This study aims to determine optimal conditions of growth microalgae Scenedesmus sp. with the effect of the volume of tofu wastewater and different light intensities on glucose. In this research, the observation with a ratio the volume of bold basal medium and tofu liquid waste 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% and light intensity of 1000 lux, 2000 lux, 3000 lux and 4000 lux. Based on the research results obtained optimal conditions on the volume of tofu liquid waste 20% and light intensity 4000 lux with glucose 41.9 mg/L.Keywords : Scenedesmus sp., glucose, tofu liquid waste, light intensity.
