Abstract

Pandan City which does not have a representative library and consisting of various ethnic groups and cultures, is very appropriate to give a touch that can be accepted by all people in the design. Designing a city library can also keep abreast of the current era. Therefore, the design with the Contemporary Architecture approach is considered appropriate for Pandan City Library. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The results of this study are a City Library design with the application of the principles of Contemporary Architecture with case studies of library buildings in the last five years, namely the application of cantilever mass, atrium to impression of open space, gratings, transparent facades and greenroof.Keywords: City Library, Architecture, Contemporary

Abstract

Biometrics is an automatic method for recognizing someone based on physical characteristics or behavior, including Face Recognition. Generally used for identification and verification. Identification is the process of recognizing and matching of a it is person's biometric data in a database that contains a person's character record. Verification is the process of information determining whether someone is in accordance with his/her look. In this research, a biometric attendance system designed using a tool called Rasberry Pi 3 (Mini Computer) for taking user face images (photo grid) then planting is eigenface algorithms and artificial neural network. Rasberry Pi often abbreviated as Raspi is a single board computer whereas whereas the it’s size same as credit card that can be used to run official programs, computer games and media player for high resolution videos. The eigenface method is face recognition based on the Principal Component Analysis. On the eigenface method image is captured and stored in the database to become training data which compared to the sample data. ANN used because it has ability to learn from the data trained. With the design of this attendance system, it is expected to avoid negative things, for example, the loss of student attendance data because there are too many signatured papers in the attendence list for each subject. The results of testing face data used 3 hidden layers where the first layer has 32 neurons, the second layer has 18 neurons, and the third layer has 8 neurons, it concludes that the face recognition succed to recognize somebody’s face as his/her photograph is 100%.Keywords : Face Recognition, Raspberry Pi 3, Eigenface, Neural Network.

Abstract

Planning for LTE coverage has several parameters that must be met according to the standards set by 3GPP and telecommunications operators. This study designed an LTE coverage planning application to determine the extent of cell coverage and the number of sites needed on a desktop basis. This application uses a frequency of 2300 MHz with the duplex TDD method and makes it easier to calculate the number of sites needed to cover all areas in Kampar Regency. The propagation model used for planning calculations is Cost-231 Hata. The research obtained results that the value of calculations in this application approached the results of manual calculations. The differences occur due to differences in rounding in the manual calculation process with rounding by the application.Keywords : LTE, coverage planning, site, Cost-231 Hata, desktop aplication

Abstract

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a welding process that is promoted with little cost and good connection quality. That is because it does not need filler metal and can eliminate or minimize the number of cracks and porosity defects. The FSW principle uses tools that rotate and move across so that the material occurs forging at the center of the weld and finally melts. The FSW welding process variables are tool parameters and welding parameters. Welding parameters include rotational speed, tool slope, travel speed, shoulder penetration, probe penetration, probe shape and dimensions, shoulder shape and dimensions, material tools, and others. In this study, the effect of temperature variation of heating elements used in welding polyethylene (PE) material on tensile strength by tensile test is examined. From the tensile test data, it is found that the higher the temperature of the heating element during the FSW process, the feeding translation tool will increase and the tensile strength of the FSW joint results will also increase and vice versa. The lowest tensile strength occurs at temperatures of 0 ° C (without preheating) and 100 ° C (using preheating), namely 4.465 MPa and 14.25 MPa. The highest tensile strength occurs at heating element temperature of 140 ° C which is 24.71 MPa while the tensile strength of polyethlyene material without FSW connection is 29 MPa.Keyword : friction stir welding, feed rate, polyethylene, the tensile strength of welded joints.

Abstract

Galvani cells which are cells based on chemical reactions that can produce electric current. In this research, the generator cell was built to produce electricity. Galvani cells is consisting of zinc and used as a anodes, the motherboard printed circuit board (PCB) is used as a cathode, and a solution of NaCl as an electrolyte. The aim of this research is to estimate the performance of the galvani cell using the types of electrolyte solutions NaCl and NaOH with variation concentrations (9%, 12%, and 15%) and electrode surface area (5 cm x 10 cm, 6 cm x 10 cm, 7 cm x 10 cm). Cell performance is measured by multitester equipment and LED lights (8 volt). The results shown that the generator cell can produce electric power of 6.82 volts optimally by using 15% NaOH and 7 cm x 10 cm electrode surface area applied for this research.Keywords: electrode, electrical voltage, PCB motherboard, zinc.

Abstract

Solar Electricity Generation (SEG) is an environmental freiandly technology takes advantage from phototovoltaic which is capable of converting solar energy to electricity energy. The Potensial of promoting SEG in Indonesia is very promizing in view of Indonesia's geographical location on the equator.The SEG with an automatic solar tracking system consist of LDR Sensor,Ardunio Uno, Servo Motor, Stepper Motor.Work operating procedur of the automatic solar tracking on SEG is begun from LDR sensor detection to solar position. Based upon LDR, data,Arduino (microcontroller)actived stepper motor to drive the photovoltaic panels to be always perpendicullar to the solar radiation during the operation. A such SEG system is considered able to give optimum energy output since the photovoltaic gets maximum radiant energy from the sun.The use of an automatic solar position control system on solar panels can increase panel performance and increase electrical power with an average output reaching almost 75% more than static solar panels.Keywords : SEG,Photovoltaic,Solar panels

Abstract

Turn-milling is a machining method with a system of merging turning and milling operations, where work-pieces and cutting tool perform rotary motion synchronously to optimize the disposal process of chip materials. Development of turn-milling can be done on the lathe and milling conventional machining. The purpose of this study is to modify a conventional lathe with a stationary cutting tool and use a single cutting edge into a rotary tool using 4 (four) cutting sides (multy point cutting). In the manufacture and installation of rotary tool on conventional lathes, tools are made portable and can work on tangential, orthogonal and co-axial turn-milling systems. For the orthogonal and co-axial operating system of the turn-milling are divided into up and down operating systems. In this research the phenomenon of material disposal process of the work-piece surface was investigated. In the process of turn-milling test, the chip was removed automatically as the turn of the cutting edge of the endmill cutting tool. By using a servo motor as one of the rotating tools, it is expected that it will be able to perform the feed without any rotation of the force on the tools.Keywords : Conventional lathe, Rotary tool, Turn-milling.

Abstract

This study discusses the experiment of Organic rankine cycle (ORC) system at 95 ⁰C heat source . Organic rankine cycle is a conventional modification cycle, where ORC fuels move is organic fluid (refrigerant), which has a low boiling point, so that it produces steam only requires low temperaturs. The working fluid used is R134a obtained from the reference of previous studies. Renewable energy sources such as solar heat, geothermal energy and industrial waste heat are energy sources capable of meeting the world's electricity needs. However, the low temperatur of the heat source cannot be used as electric power, so the organic ranking cycle can be used as a renewable energy source that uses low temperatur heat. Data collected in the from temperatur, pressure and mass flow rate. From the results of the experiment, the maximum power is 305.02 Watts and the maximum efficiency is 4.29% at the turbine inlet pressure of 1.5 MPa and the turbine inlet temperatur is 67.91 ⁰C. Abstract

Resort can be defined as a resting place for tourists who need facilities, so that tourists can do holiday activities or work at resorts. It is generally located quite far from the city center as well as being used as a resting place and providing facilities for vacation, recreation and sports. The location of the design of this resort is Khayangan Lake which is a place of tourism. Its location, which can be reached from the city of Pekanbaru, is quite far from the noise, has a beautiful natural atmosphere, the existence of small hills, and has a good view towards the lake. In designing this resort, modern architecture is used as the design theme. Modern architecture tries to leave ornaments or decorations that are not useful in building functions and emphasize functions. Modern architecture makes it possible to produce unusual forms because of the development of structural and construction technologies and the development of materials technology. Abstract

This study proposes calculating and assess the level of reliability of the distribution system. This study calculates reliability index based on the value of failure occurred. The method used in this study is Reliability Index Assessment (RIA), where is this method takes into account interruption momentary. This study takes a case study on one of the largest private companies in Pekanbaru, make up to the mark of six feeders. Based on extinguishing data obtained that reliability index becomes smaller and can be differentiated between permanent fault and temporary fault. The calculation results show in the reliability index of SAIFI, SAIDI, and MAIFI based on the type of fault. The results of this calculation will compare with SPLN and IEEE standards. Comparison of all the results of SAIFI average value is 0.2199 times/year/customer compared to SPLN standard of 3.2 times/year/customer and IEEE standard of 1.45 times/year/customer has a high level of reliability. The value of SAIDI average value is 8.0437 hours/year/costumer compared to SPLN standard of 21 hours/year/customer and IEEE standard of 2.3 hours/year/customer has a unreliable level of reliability, caused of this condition transformer in feeder 3 gets maintenance. The value of MAIFI average value is 1.3 times/year/customer compared to IEEE standard of 5 times/year/customer has a high level of reliability.Keywords: MAIFI, SAIDI, SAIFI, RIA, reliability
