Abstract

Hydroxyapatite is a bioceramic widely used as bone and dental grafting, catalyst and adsorbent. Hydroxyapatite is a calcium phosphate compound that can be synthesized from natural sources having calcium content such as eggshells. Chicken eggshell is a waste has a 96.6% CaCO3 content. This study aims to synthesize hydroxyapatite through the formation of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) from chicken eggshell. The research began with an eggshell calcination to form CaO which then made into PCC by carbonation method. PCC as a source of calcium was synthesized into hydroxyapatite using sol gel process varying reaction time (2; 3; 4 hours) and aging time (60; 65; 70 hours). The synthesized hydroxyapatite was analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) and Brunaur, Emmett and Teller (BET). The FTIR spectrums showed PO43- and OH- groups that indicate the forming of calcium phosphate compound. The XRD patterns showed the formation of hydroxyapatite compound from the 2θ angle corresponding to the data of ICDD 01-073-6113. Hydroxyapatite synthesized at 4 hours reaction time and 70 hours aging time gave the best results with hexagonal crystal structure, crystal size of 26.91 nm, surface area of 43.272 m2/g and Ca/P ratio of 1.7.Keywords: aging, carbonation, PCC, sol-gel method.

Abstract

WiMAX technology has high data transfer speed, large access range and mobility capability. To access the fixed WiMAX network required Costumer Premise Equipment (CPE). CPE require a little dimension antenna and integrated it easily. Therefore, microstrip antenna is a good candidate for this application. In this final project designed of 4 elements planar array microstrip antenna using H-shaped with circular slot for CPE fixed WiMAX applications in 3.5 GHz (3.4-3.6 GHz). The substrates used are FR4 with value of relativity permittivity 4.4 and Duroid with value of relativity permittivity 2.2 using microstrip line feed techniques. To determine the dimensions of the antenna before it designed, performed theoretical calculation first. For this antenna simulation process, the authors use the Ansoft HFSS 13.0. The results of designed showed that antenna works at a frequency of 3.3786-3.6106  GHz using FR4 and 3.383-3.6149 GHz using Duroid at VSWR ≤ 1,9 with gain are 4.7083 dB and 8.486 dB.  Keyword: CPE fixed WiMAX, planar array, VSWR, gain

Abstract

Biodiesel is a renewable alternative fuel that can be made from vegetable oils. One was from the kapok seed oil by using an activated clay catalyst. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of the clay catalysts for the synthesis of biodiesel, making biodiesel from kapok seed oil, determine the effect of the molar ratio of oil-methanol to yield biodiesel, and determines the physical properties and chemical properties of biodiesel produced. Activated clay as acids and bases using H2SO4 and NaOH. Biodiesel is made by reacting kapok seed oil and methanol at 60°C, the reaction time of 1.5 hours, and a catalyst concentration of 0.5% w/w. Treatment variations molar ratio of reactants affect the yield of biodiesel, as well as variations in the concentration of acids and bases for the activation of the catalyst on the clay affect the yield of biodiesel. The result of physical charactearization density 884 kg/m3, viscosity 3.28 mm2/s, acid number of 0.49 mg-KOH/g biodiesel and flash point 200°C meet the SNI standards (SNI 7182-2015).Keywords: activation, biodiesel, clay, molar ratio, yield

Abstract

The phenomenon of forest fires in Riau resulted in a smoke disaster that became the main problem every year. Uncontrolled forest fires are air pollutants that can interfere with daily activities and are also harmful to respiratory health. As a result, many of Riau residents are experiencing respiratory health problems caused by the smoke disaster, especially in Pekanbaru. Therefore, it is necessary to present a special health facility to treat lung abnormalities, namely Lung Hospital in Pekanbaru. Successful healing of lung disease depends on a natural, healthy, clean, and pollution-free environment. Thus, the Hi-Tech design approach was chosen to be able to engineer the environment to keep the air clean and pollution-free in the event of a smoke disaster. The application of technology to the building focuses on natural air-conditioning systems in the hospital environment as a healing medium for patients. This building is expected to help the healing process of the patient so that the concept applied is Hospital, Healthy House. This concept is transformed into a healthy zoning, healthy space, healthy accessibility, and a healthy facade. The results of this study in the form of Lung Hospital design that applies technology as an effort in assisting patients in the healing process of lung disease.Keywords: Lung Hospital, Pekanbaru, Hi-Tech, Healthy House

Abstract

The limitations of fossil energy resources in the future as an energy source for electricity generation and that’s effect on environmental pollution make the reason for the transition to renewable energy. Solar energy used in Photovoltaic (PV) systems can be an option for renewable energy generation sources. There are several problems that can interfere with the performance of large-scale PV. One that enhances PV performance is shading on a PV module, that make interferes PV performance. There is a decrease in current caused that problem, thereby reducing the output power of the PV system. This research studied about the effect of shading on the performance of large-scale PV systems through testing a 9 × 10 Wp miniature PV array and simulation using Matlab software. The use of diodes on a PV module can be done to prevent damage to the PV module due to shading. Through the power-voltage (P-V) and current-voltage (I-V) characteristic curves the effect of shading and the use of bypass and of this study note that the bypass diode and blocking diode output power generated by the PV module can be optimal.blocking diodes can be determined. Abstract

Light illuminance in the classrooms is one of the important aspects for convenience in learning.. Poor level of illuminance can affect eye health. According to the National Standard of Indonesia SNI 03-6575-2001, the recommended illuminance level for classrooms is 250 lux. In this study measure the illuminance level at 19 classrooms of Building C Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau. From the results of measurements obtained the average illuminance in all classrooms is 123,13 lux,the highest illuminance is 141 lux at room 317 and the lowest illuminance is 103,4 lux at room 314. The average illuminance is not recommended illuminance level. Therefore the evaluation and recalculation of the number of luminaires in 19 classrooms. From the calculation result using the zonal cavity method for rooms 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310,311,312,313,314,315, the number of luminaires required is 9 luminaires with 3 rows and 3 columns and for rooms 301, 302,303,316,317,318,319 obtained luminaire requirement of 9 luminaires 3 rows and 3 columns.Keywords: Standart illuminance in the classroom, luminaire, zonal cavity method

Abstract

The research aims to obtain the characteristic of concrete using Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) as substitute material on normal concrete. It is focused on compressive strength, setting time, and flexure strength. The percentage of SBE it used are 0%, 2%, and 4% of the cement weight. The result show SBE is not suitable to be a cement replacement because it show the decrease of compressive and flexure strength. But the setting time on SBE is slower than 0% SBE substitution and need more time to harden than normal concrete.Keywords : Spent Bleaching Earth, setting time, compressive strength, flexure strength

Abstract

In the single line of electric power flow, there are a lot of things to be aware such as the capacity of system installation equipment and also the equipment will be utilized. This analysis aims to measure the extent of power transfer between subsystems Sumbagsel to Sumbagteng can be maximized by using extra high voltage of overhead conductor 275 kV. This study without breaking the boundaries of operation of the existing rule. The calculation in this analysis using software assisted with Newton Raphson power flow method to calculate several possible scenarios. The amount of maximum power transfer subsystem Sumbagsel towards Sumbagteng is 557,6 MW without operating compensator and the amount of power transfer by operating the compensator is 586 MW.Keywords: Power flow, Newton Raphson Method, 275 kV Sumatera system

Abstract

Single Tuition (UKT) is a new system for tuition fees in accordance with the Minister of Higher Education and Culture Regulation number 55 in 2013. UKT is also a form of cross-subsidy system whereas students with high economic levels will subsidize students with low economic levels. So, this condition will alleviate for underprivileged students’ in the cost constraints of continuing study in college. To determine the UKT class for students, so, UKT classes must be fit with the students’ economic level. Under these conditions, the author to make a Decision Support System (DSS) determines the class of student UKT by using the Naive Bayes Method. There are seven input variables of 600 students' data from University of Riau Academic Year 2014 to 2015 used in this study, consisting of 400 training data and 200 test data. This system is developed by using PHP Programming Language, Mysql and this system also Naive Bayes Method. This Method is used to classify data into six UKT groups. uses this method can provide the best alternative based on training from previous data, to determine a single tuition based on students' economic. Testing data results of this study indicate that Naive Bayes Method can identify students’ UKT groups with accuration average of 91.5% of 200 test data. So, it can be concluded that UKT effectiveness level with the Naive Bayes Method included in to Good Category.Keywords : Decision Support Systems, Naïve Bayes

Abstract

Base on overloading conditions and the exposure of ambient temperatures that exceed the standard level, will causes thermal aging of the insulation on the transformator,which can causes “shrinkage” the age of it. Sampling of the transformator that used in this research,is the power transformator. Both of it,have been installed from 2010 (tranformator 3) and 2015 (transformator 4) at major sub-station in Garuda Sakti-Pekanbaru. These tranformators are operated at maksimum ambient temperature 33oC . To estimate the remaining transformators lifespan,can be evaluated by using a hot spot temperature. In this article, estimating the lifetime of the transformators are calculated by using linear trend analysis method,for load escalation of these transformator. The results showed that,all of the transformator have a safe value limit of 91.38% of the transformators power rating level. From the calculation of power transformator 3 has an estimation remaining age around 26 years with the value of forecasting load in 2019 reaching 80.27% until 2024 reaching 113.61% of the power rating. And another tranformator (4) has an estimation remaining age around 21 years with the value of forecasting load in 2019 reaching 75,89% until 2031 reaching 113,09% of the power rating.Keywords : Transformator Lifespan, Trend Linear Method, Load Escalation, Ambient Temperature.
