Abstract

Clayey sand’s shear strength is influenced by several factors, for examples sand and clay soil fraction, soil properties, density, moisture content, and gradation. Sand and clay mixture with same composition may different in shear strength. It is influenced by moisture content, density and gradation. This research aims to study the effect of clay content in sand that change the Shear strength of soil. Variation of clayey sand soil distinguished based on percentage, every variation have different gradation from well-graded sand to poorly-graded sand. Each sample variation is mixed with a certain moisture content, preloading created in order to represent overburden pressure. Samples was tested of gradation, density and shear strength. Relationship between gradation and shear strength value expressed by the value of Cc, Cu and cohesion, internal friction angle shows specific graphs in particular trends. The results showed effect of gradation and density on soil shear strength. Soil with well-graded sand and dense has good shear strength, in the other hand shear strength decreased when the gradation and density became lower. The addition of clay will increase cohesion and decrease internal friction angle.Keywords : clay, density, gradation, shear strength, sand.

Abstract

Thermoelecric is a phenomena to convert from temperature difference into electrical energy that can be called Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) or from electrical energy into temperature difference that is called Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC). The Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) principle is known as the seebeck effect, while the Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) principle is known as peltier effect. The purpose of this research to determine the effect of thermoelectric module number on maximum power, maximum voltage and maximum efficiency. This research uses thermoelectric module, type TEG SP 1848. The cold side of thermoelectric module uses water at ambient temperature with flow rate 1.7 liter / minute. With a input voltage regulator of 60 V to heat the electric heater. From the test using 1 module, 2 module, 3 module, and 4 module thermoelectric type TEG SP 1848, the maximum voltage of 0.39 V, 0.47 V, 0.54 V, and 0.62 V, the maximum power generated of 0.032 W, 0.082 W, 0.164 W, and 0.272 W and the maximum efficiency of 0.36%, 0 .42%, 0.92%, and 1.30%. The more number of thermoelectric modules used during the test, the resulting voltage, power and efficiency will increase.Keywords : thermoelectric generator, seebeck effect

Abstract

Construction project on Rajawali and Bima street in Tampan district had delayed up to 33 days from the time of execution of project should have been completed in 110 days. The evaluation done on critical path of project had reveal that poor project management is the main cause of delay. Project delay can be overcome by rescheduling and accelerating work settlement on critical path. Some alternative method that such as addition of workers, equipment and also shift system can be done to accelerate the period of particular work settlement. The difference of each method revealed by the comparison of overtime work productivity calculation method, addition of workers and equipment productivity calculation method, also shift system productivity calculation method. The result of analysis had shown the cost of overtime work alternative method was Rp 134.465.669,63 addition of workers and equipment alternative method was Rp 237.375.404,80 and system shift alternative method was Rp 146.636.930,40. Also additional cost for overwork productivity method was Rp 79.285.459,23 addition of workers and equipment was Rp 185.815.046,26 and shift system productivity method was Rp 192.746.756,20.Keywords:alternative method, productivity calculation method, overwork, addition of workers and equipment, shift system.

Abstract

There are methods that can be used to evaluate pavement conditions, such as Bina Marga and PCI (Pavement Condition Index) methods. In the Bina Marga method, the determination of road condition values are done by summing numbers and values of damage conditions, while PCI method is based on type, rate and area of distresses. This study attempts to compare the two methods in determining a road segment pavement condition (i.e. segment of Simpang Lago to Simpang Buatan, Riau). The road segment was divided into 6 sub segments. Primary data obtained from field surveys and secondary data were used. The priority of pavement maintenance actions was ranked from 0 to 7 for Bina Marga method, and from 0 to 100 for PCI method. The comparative analysis showed different results between the two methods in terms of pavement condition values and maintenance actions. Based on each method’s pavement condition rank, the condition values of the sub segments were 9, 10, 10, 10, 9, 10 for Bina Marga method which all needed for routine maintenance. Abstract

Total Productive Maintenance is an innovative approach to maintenance that optimizes equipmenteffectiveness, eliminates damage and develops autonomous maintenance by the operator through daily activitiesinvolving all workers. This study aims to improve the performance of semi-cupola furnace machine byimplementing Total Productive Maintenance and 5S maintenance strategies as work culture in CV. Sispra JayaLogam. The steps of method were collect data, compute the value of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE),Six Big Losses analysis, statistical analysis with SPSS 20 and proposed improvement using 5S method. Theresult of this research was revealed the OEE value rate in June 2017 period that was 84,09%, which was havenot yet fulfill world class OEE standard (85%). From the analysis of six big losses, the most dominant factorinfluences the OEE value, namely set up and adjustment losses, and idling losses with value rate was 22.33%and 22.33% respectively. Based on Pareto chart and fishbone diagrams analyses may be caused by lessresponsive operators and lack of machine maintenance. To improve the performance of semi-cupola furnacemachine, it is necessary to make improvements using the 5S method and implementing the TPM pillar such asplanned maintenance and autonomous maintenance.Keywords : TPM, Method 5S, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Six Big Losses, Fishbone Diagram.

Abstract

Frame is the very important of vehicle. Design of the right frame will provide optimal results between the level of security and the size of the construction. To get an energy-efficient car, it is necessary to design a car frame that fits your needs. From the design carried out based on the body shape of the vehicle, a construction structure of the Asykar Hybrid is Monocoque type frame by using a profile of rectangular hollow section by 30 mm x 50 mm x 2 mm and angel L section 50 mm x 50 mm x 3 mm and dimensions overall frame with a length of 2456 mm x width 932 x height 920 mm. Static analysis calculate by Autodesk Inventor 2018 Student Version software which produces a Principle Stress on the main stem of 46.99 MPa and displacement of 6.005 mm. The results of the manual calculation of the main Principle Stress are 56.94 MPa with a Shear of 28.47 MPa. Safety factor of 4.39 by using Carbon steel ST 37 material. So it was concluded that the framework of energy-efficient cars is safe to use.Keywords: Frame, Principle Stress, Deformation, Energy Saving

Abstract

Climate change is a phenomenon that occurs not only due to nature, but also from the intervention of human actions. Climate change will caused vulnerability in an area due to changes in environmental conditions on physical, chemical and biological. The purpose of this study was to find out how the spread of land fire disasters in the City of Pekanbaru to climate change so that mitigation and adaptation measures can be taken in Pekanbaru City. The results of the study found that the sub-district that occurred in the field of fire was Payung Sekaki, while the sub-district which occurred in the field of fire was Pekanbaru City and Senapelan.Keyword: climate change, field of fire, mitigation-adaption, vulnerability

Abstract

Technological developments, especially in the field of information and telecommunications are grew rapidly. Thus the consumer needs high mobility and able to support services such as VoIP, video conference, upload/download, etc. Therefore, it needs mobile communication services to support the needs of consumers with optimal performance. LTE is an enhanced technology which is developed by 3GPP to support the needs of consumers that has improved the previous technologies. This research proposes the network planning LTE TDD duplexing technique using a frequency of 2300 MHz in the city of Pekanbaru, Riau, with the bandwidth of 10 MHz and 15 MHz, respectively. The network design and simulation was done by radio planning software Atoll v3.1.2. In the design simulation such parameters are measured i.e. coverage dimensioning simulation with signal level prediction. The results shows the signal level coverage including 512 sites with bandwidth of 10 MHz and 351 sites with bandwidth of 15 MHz, respectively.Keywords : LTE, TDD, Bandwidth, Coverage planning, Atoll

Abstract

The earthing system is a system that should be applied in substations. Its function is to protect both humans and equipments are located around the substation of the danger caused by electrical system fault. The fault that often occurs is short circuit to ground which can cause different voltage gradient between points around the substation. The earthing system is expected to overcome the problems occurred, so that in its design should follow applicable standards. The design of the earthing system at 150/20 kV substation refers to the IEEE Std 80-2000. In this paper, earthing system is designed based on the field datas are extracted from substation Garuda Sakti. Based on design verification, its obtained such as following result i.e. mesh voltage 626.38 V, step voltage 344.46 V, length of the conductor grid 2300 m with 0.55 ? resistance and the conductor achieved in this design able to cover area of 86, 59 mm2. Abstract

The need for alternative energy sources keep increasing, green coke is a byproduct from refenery unit that has a high heating value, so it is potential to be used as an alternative fuel. The purpose of this experiment was to study the green coke briquetting process, studied the effect of the pressing pressure against the produced briquettes, and determine the effect of operating conditions on the heating value and the resulting compressive strength. Green coke used in this experiment was tested fors carbon content, then do briquetting by adding starch with the composition ratio of green coke to starch (95:5, 90:10, and 85:15 %weight) and the variation of pressure (120, 150, 180 Kg/cm2), with response of heating value and compressive strength, the response data obtained were processed using Respone Surface Methodology (RSM) using Design Expert application. The pressing pressure and the ratio of green coke has a significant effect on the heating value and compressive strength. Highest heating value obtained in the comparison of green coke composition: adhesive 95: 5 and the pressing pressure of 180 kg / cm2 with a calorific value of 37685.4 Kj / Kg, and a compressive strength of 4.72 kg / cm2Keywords : alternative energy, compressive strength, heating value, starch.
