Abstract

Fly ash and bottom ash were waste that generated from the power plant burning coal process. Fly ash and bottom ash has the potential to be developed as a basic ingredient in concrete composites. This research aimed to obtain the properties of fresh concrete and hard concrete of the combined effect of fly ash and bottom ash as a substitute ingredient in composite concrete. This research has examined the influence of a combination of waste fly ash and bottom ash to the compressive strength of absorption, porosity, permeability, shrinkage of concrete, setting time of cement. The percentage of fly ash waste and bottom ash waste that used were 15% by weight of cement and 15% of the weight of the sand. Research results show that using of 15% fly ash and 15% bottom ash was tending to decrease the compressive strength of concrete. However, the compressive strength was generated still whitin the standard of concrete strength design. Applicaton of 15% fly ash and 15% bottom ash were experiences to increase the value of absorption, permeability and concrete porosity, but reduce the concrete shrinkage. Meanwhile, setting time of 15% fly ash and 15% bottom ash were faster than without any composite.Keywords : concrete, fly ash, bottom ash, permeability, shrinkage, setting time.

Abstract

Post Structuralism on development has a purpose to emphasize architecture in terms of construction and structure and has an aesthetic value based on form expressions. Application of the post structuralism to show the structure as an aesthetic building and make it as a mass of building. In appropriate with the theme of post structuralism, design the Faculty of Nursing University of Riau apply the form based on the expression. It is because the unavailability of building that can be able to accommodate lecture activities and form that applies function expression like a make structure as core design and give a character to building, so that functions communicated with the form can deliver various expressions with the protrusion of the structure as the main element. Using the concept of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi like form of describe three pillar which to connecting and make as base on pattern mass of building and apply of Post Structuralism which make a structure as a mass builder and like as core design. Abstract

Making a plan and schedule for the project always refers to the condition of assumptions and forecasts that existed at the time plans and schedule are made, therefore the problem will arise if there is a discrepancy between the forecasts and assumptions with actual reality. Delays in construction project often occurred and give some disadvantages for everyone, both the contractor and the employer. Therefore, the problem will arise when assumption different from the reality in field. Delays of the project will cost high penalties the contractor. SMK Multi Masmur Pekanbaru construction projects has delayed with in 15 day calendar from the duration the project in the contract. Delayed in the project should be tackle with accelerating the time in remaining activities. The acceleration of the work can the be done in two ways, firsly, overtime working and secondly is by adding additional labors and equipments. Performed analsis focus on the job experience in critical line. Then the result of delaying cost Rp 32.942.781,-. The cost needed if accelerated from overtime working is Rp 41.449.497,- and Rp 17.407.500,- for adding the employers and the equipments. The best alternative solution is the additional tool and labors. Total acceleration in 13 days completed with the time and cost efficient.Keyword : contruction delay, contruction cost, duration shortening, equipment and workers addition.

Abstract

Crane lifting equipment widely has been used in the world of industry and automotive. In the automotive industries, the crane is used to lift car engines and other similar proposed. In the design of this is required an ergonomics study of knowledge and the relationship between humans and machines, the interface between them. The purpose of this research is to produce a crane design to lift the car engine which structural analysis using the simulation on Autodest Inventor software and produce a crane design with consideration of ergonomics. In the design restricted crane design using software autodest inventor and engine period used maximum 300 kg, on crane design with consideration of ergonomics science only discussing of the force of the crank, the position of attraction and the position of thrust. The frame design process starts from choosing the frame form, followed by simulation on Autodesk Inventor. While the process for consideration of science carried out manual calculations. Based on crane frame simulation results was obtained minimum safety factor value of 2.72. In the position of push and pull handlebar which safe consideration was in obtained the same value that was at 68 cm slopes. It is concluded the framework still safe and the force gained for cranking that is not too heavy, in the process of pushing and pulling the instrument easily moved.Keywords : crane, ergonomics, simulation inventor and safety factor

Abstract

This study examines effect of peat water to the setting time and compressive strength of PCC concrete, and PCC fly ash concrete (PCC-FA). In this study, fly ash was used to replace 25%of weight of cement. This specimen was designed to have the compressive strength of 28 MPa at 28 days. All specimens were cured with two different curing system, static and wet-drysystem. The concrete sample were cured continuously on peat water for 7 and 28 days. While on wet-dry system, the samples were cured by turns wet (soaked on peat water) and dry for 7and 28 days. Peat water had a pH value of 3.0-5.0. The results showed that the addition of fly ash was able to extend the final setting time from 113 minutes to 208 minutes. The compressive strength of PCC (static), PCC-FA (static), and PCC-FA (wet-dry) wereincreased at 28 days immersion in peat water with each increase of 7.24%, 20.45% and 12.89%, respectively. While the compressive strength of PCC concrete (wet-dry) was decreased at 28 days immersion in peat water with a decrease of 4.31%. Based on the test results, it was concluded that the wet-dry cycle adversely affected the concrete strength; however, fly ash addition in the mixture can increase the concrete resistance from the wet-drycycle.Keywords: Fly Ash Concrete, Fly Ash, Wet-Dry, Setting Time, Compressive Strength, Peat Water, PCC

Abstract

Biocoagulant is a natural coagulant that has an active substance and has a role as cationic which is able to bind colloidal particles in water. Chitosan is a non-toxic, easy-to-degrade and polyelectrolyte biocogulant that can be found in crustacean animals especially in crabs (Brachyura). The availability of crab shell waste has a huge potential to be used as raw material for making chitosan. High concentration of detergent in water can cause water quality to decrease and environmental pollution in the form of increase of phosphate level, so that the previous processing is needed by using coagulation-flocculation method. The research process was done gradually starting from the extraction of crab shells to chitosan by deproteination process, demineralization, and deacetylation, followed by Coagulation-flocculation method. The study was conducted by varying the dose of coagulant by 150 mg / L, 200 mg / L, 250 mg / L and 300 mg / L. The effluent was then analyzed by the laboratory, for COD parameters referring to SNI 06-6989.2-2004, and phosphate refers to SNI 06-6989.31-2005. The result of the analysis was then compared with the PERMENLH / 5/2014 quality standard. Based on the laboratory results, after analyzing the concentration of the parameters tested, it showed that the maximum allowance of phosphate parameters were 81.84% respectively at 200 mg / L coagulant dose with stirring speed of 150 rpm for 2 min and 60 rpm for 15 min followed by deposition for 30 min.Keywords:Biocoagulant, chitosan, coagulation-flocculation

Abstract

Pest control with botanical pesticides is a relatively safe alternative control for the environment by using plant extracts that contain ingredients of pesticides. The purpose of this research is to make pesticides from plant materials ie fragrant pandan leaves and bulbs of garlic and test the secondary metabolites of maximum yield. This research was conducted by the method of extraction maceration, variations in immersion time is 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 days, the ratio of material and solvent is 1: 4, after the immersion process is filtered and the filter in the form of the filtrate and separation of secondary metabolites by rotary evaporator, and then testing the secondary metabolites. The results of the study of secondary metabolites that have been successfully tested by the method of phytochemicals which include alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and sulfur.Keywords: Botanical pesticides, Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb, garlic bulbs, extraction

Abstract

The development of a country coupled by the economic growth of its people, the example of a small economy is small and medium enterprises. The development of small and medium enterprises needs to be considered in line with economic growth. One of the small and medium business units in Riau is the fish meatballs processing. In the process of fish meatballs boiling have a convection heat transfer process between water and fish meatballs and conducting in a sphere of meatballs. The purpose of this research was to design the vessel of boiling fish braid container with 1000 W power capacity with automatic temperature control system. Based on the results of the study produced dimension 78 × 20 × 25 cm thickness of 1.4 mm plate and stiffeners. The result of the test result is 2.5 hours and is actually 1 hour 20 minutes. The boiling time of meatballs with size 3.1 cm is 15 minutes theoretically and 4.6 minutes onaverage from test result. The total mass of processed meatballs is 3.12 kg with total wheat balls of 163 grains.Safety factor that obtained by using software ANSYS Workbench V15.0 is 1.6.Keywords: design boiling vessel, heat transfer conduction transient, safety factor.

Abstract

In Indonesia, flexible pavements quite often occured prematurely. A good quality of pavement needs materials that fulfill a specification, and sometime also requires additional modifier. Rubber can be used to modify and increase of asphalt concretes quality. The addition of rubber is able to improve shear resistance at high temperatures, prevent cracks, bleeding, stripping, and permanent deformation of asphalt concretes. This study try to investigate the effect of natural rubber latex addition on a binder course typed asphalt concrete (AC-BC) based on volumetric properties of Bina Marga Specification Revision 3. The latex contents used as bitumen substitution were 0%, 4%, 6% and 8% of bitumen content. The results showed that the addition of rubber latexdecreased the optimum asphalt content and increased mixture densities. A maximum of 6% latex content could be used as bitumen substitution, where its Marshall characteristics still met the specification.Keyword : Rubber Latex, Laston AC-BC, Marshall characteristics, Specification ofBina Marga 2010 Revision 3.

Abstract

The palm oil industry is currently experiencing very rapid development which is marked by an increase in CPO production. The main solid waste produced by the palm oil processing industry is Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) which is 22-23%. The composting process is one of the processing methods that can be done on EFB waste, however, the composting process requires a long time. Therefore, it is important to do a breakthrough to speed up the processing time. In this study, composting can be accelerated by adding mixed cultures and POME as a source of nutrition. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in POME addition on windrow aerob composting of EFB on the quality of N, P, K. In composting process takes place with variations by adding POME 0%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. The results of the study showed that the effect of POME 40% addition gave the best results as indicated by the highest N, P, K content of 2.41%, 2.29%, 2.56%, temperature 33.61OC, pH 6.84, and water content 49.4%, and compost produced meets SNI 19-7030-2004 compost quality standards. Thus, the performance of composting with the best result is with the addition of 40% POME with 25 days composting time. Utilization of oil palm empty fruit bunches is one of the solutions to sustainable environmental pollution control.Key Word : Composting Process, Empty Fruit Bunch, NPK, Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME), Windrow.
