Abstract

Solar energy is one source of energy that has an unlimited amount, making it the largest source of energy reserves on earth. The utilization of the commonly used is radiation energy in a solar drying apparatus. A solar type solar dryer cabinet is a direct heating type solar dryer that utilizes natural convection to heat a cabin shaped air. The cabinet dryer consists of a solar collector and an integrated drying chamber. The research methodology used in this study is an experimental method to determine the performance of two types of solar dryer type cabinet. One of the cabinet type solar powered dryer uses sensible heat storage in the form of a split stone. Thermal energy storage or heat is a system that storage heat from surrounding. The heat energy storage system is divided into two, namely sensible calorie storage system and latent heat storage system. The average temperature of a banana on a solar power dryer with a heat storage medium is 39oc with the highest temperature on the second shelf is 52.7oc while the banana temperature on the solar power dryer without heat storage medium is 37oc and the highest temperature on the second shelf is 51.7oc. The final water content contained in the banana after drying on the dryer with the heat storage medium is 36% and in drying apparatus without a heat storage medium is 45.2% . The efficiency of the test using a solar power dryer with a heat storage medium is obtained 28.4%, while for testing using a solar power dryer without heat storage media that is equal to 26.1%.Keywords: Solar dryer, Sensible Heat storage, Split stone

Abstract

This research discusses a Hybrid Method for identifying short circuit faults in transmission line. The identification fault is done in the classification and estimation of fault location in Riau system (three buses). Hybrid Method is used such as Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Support Vector Machine (SVM). DWT is used to extract information of transient signals from each phase current and zero sequence current for one cycle when the fault begins. SVM classification is used to detect any fault in each phase and ground in determining the type of short circuit fault. SVM regression is used to estimate fault location that occurs in transmission line. The training and testing data are generated by simulating each type of short circuit fault in Simulink Matlab R2018a with variation of fault location, fault resistance and fault inception angle. Short circuit faults is applied in transmission line on simulink model from Koto Panjang (KP) bus to Garuda Sakti (GS) bus in Riau Province with voltage 150 kV and length 64 km. The obtained results are classification with accuracy 100 % and estimated fault location with the highest mean error value is 0.021529 %.Keywords: Discrete wavelet transform, Estimate, Fault, Short circuit, Support vector machine.

Abstract

The development of communication technology between vehicles has grown rapidly in recent years, where vehicle communications consists of vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure. Communication between vehicles uses wireless as the main component for communication thus making it easy for users to get various kinds of information including traffic light information, safety and comfort in driving. Based on Riau police traffic directorate, the number of vehicles in Pekanbaru in 2016 amounted to 83.270 vehicles, with a high population of vehicles causing the risk of accident and congestion in driving was also high. So that communication technology between vehicles is needed, better known as the vehicular ad hoc network, VANET is a wireless communication network that forms an ad hoc network, vehicles that are in the VANET network are called nodes. Nodes contained in VANET move freely and can communicate via wireless. In this scientific paper discuss the topic of performance and simulation of ZRP (zone routing protocol) on VANET in Pekanbaru on hybrid topology using network simulator 2 (NS-2). The method used in this scientific paper changes the number of nodes on the ZRP protocol using the SUMO and NS-2 applications, to see the Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) performance metrics, End to End Delay and Routing Overhead. The simulation of the ZRP protocol performance analysis results obtained on each parameter are PDR 99.89 %, End to End Delay 0.1308 ms, Routing Overhead 42642 packet.Keywords : ZRP, VANET, Wireless, Topology Hybrid, Pekanbaru

Abstract

Lubricants is an inseparable part of machine. Lubricants used to protect engine components from worn-out. Along with the increasing demands on materials that are environmentallyfriendly and renewable, vegetable oils or animal fats based biolubricants can be claimed as a solution. Jatropha curcas oil is an oil that can not be consumed cause had phorbol ester andkurkin that are toxicthus potentially used as raw material for biolubricants. This research purposes to study the synthesis of biolubricants from castor oil to observe the effect of stirring speed and esterification reaction temperature. The research was begun with the saponification of jatropha curcas oil to make fatty acid. Furthermore, fatty acids will be esterified with etylen glycol ona mole ratio of 1: 4, and time reaction for 4 hours, stirringspeed 150, 180, 210 rpm, and the reaction temperature of 120oC, 150oC, and 180oC. The yield raised with the increase of stirring speed and reaction temperature. Temperature influence is more significant than the speed of stirring. The highest yield is 91,96% at reaction temperature at 180 C and a stirring speed of 180 rpm with a flash point 435°C, pour point 4°C, density 0,9005 g/ml and viscosity index amounted 161,678.Keywords: biolubricants, esterification, etylen glycol, jatropha curcas oil, yield

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production process on Stone Crusher machine using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness method at PT Vira Jaya Riau Putra. From the OEE calculation result, it is found that OEE value of Stone Crusher machine of 64,71% is still below world class standart of OEE (85%). The low value of OEE is caused by one of the factors such as the machine availability, which more stand by for raw material to be processed again. From the analysis of big losses that most significantly affect the low value of OEE Stone Crusher machine that is reduced speed loss, setup and adjustment losses. The reduced speed loss is caused by the decrease in production speeds made by the operator and the high setup and adjustment losses due to the engine being left idle due to the low performance of the Stone Crusher engine to produce products that match the desired results.Keywords: OEE, Stone Crusher, Six Big Losses

Abstract

Sturdy bridge construction has always been synonymous with large and impractical structures. New innovations are needed to create a bridge system that is practical but also robust in terms of strength. For this reason, pedestrian arc bridges are analyzed with deck variations. The purpose of this study is to obtain the optimum bridge model, in which the ratio of weight of bridge structure deflection is small. Three types of bridges were considered in this study e.g deck arch, through arch and a half through arch by comparing the stresses that occur as well as the weight ratio and bridge deflection. The most optimum bridge is that produced the smallest efficiency ratio value. The results of the analysis obtained are A Half-Through Arch which has the best performance in distributing internal forces evenly. The Deck Arch weight is 1,125.52 tons, A Half-Through Arch weighs 1,007.14 tons and the Through Arch weighs 975.61 tons. The maximum deflection on the Deck Arch is 243.41 mm, A Half-Through Arch is 309.95 mm and the Through Arch is 260.19 mm. Then, the efficiency ratio of Deck Arch is 4.62, A Half-Through Arch is 3.25 and Through Arch is 3.75. So, it can be concluded the most optimum bridge is A Half-Through Arch with the smallest efficiency ratio value of 3.25. A Half-Through Arch are more efficient 13.34% than Through Arch and 29.73% more efficient than Deck Arch.Keywords : Analysis of Bridges, Arch Bridge, Steel Bridge, Bridge Loading, Deflection, SAP2000.

Abstract

PT. Chevron is one of the largest oil companies in the world. To be able to do maximum production, PT. Chveron need to make sure all goes well with the production facilities. One of the important production facilities is the delivery pumping motor. Duri operation area has 7 pumping motors to be installed with capacity of 550HP each of them. Each of individual pumping motor requires 4,16 kV which supplied by 13,8 kV of distribution network Prior to the installation, it is necessary to have a study to anticipate drop voltage or overvoltage case. This paper proposes capacitor banks installation approach. The approach uses several trial errors in the placement of capacitor in the respective bus within distribution network. The ETAP simulation result shows 4 buses with following configuration i.e bus 1 and bus 2 with 600 kVar, in the other case bus 3 and bus 4 with 300 kVar.Keywords:Voltage drop, feeder distribution network,13,8 kV and 4,16 kV network, capacitor bank

Abstract

Reconfiguration of distribution network is one way to increase network reliability index of the distribution system. In this research, reliability index is computed using section technique. The optimization of the distribution network is achieved by changing the switches in the distribution network to obtain the most optimal distribution network configuration. The optimization method used in the genetic algorithm. The parameters that generated as a benchmark in determining the optimal distribution network is SAIFI (System Average Interruption Frequency index) and SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index). The result from reconfigurated of the distribution network had a decrease of SAIFI value i.e 7.8199 % and the decrease of SAIDI value i.e 7.9968 % from before reconfiguration.Keywords : distribution network, genetic algorithm,reconfiguration, reliability,section technique

Abstract

Light gauge steel is the latest innovation in overcoming material problems in the use of roof construction,especially the roof of the house. Generally, the construction of the roof of the house was made of wood, butbecause of the scarcity of wood made there should be a diversion in the use of materials. The use of light gaugesteel as a roof construction of the house has not been fully accepted by all of societies in general, due toconcerns in its strength. So this thesis discusses about the strength of the material and search for a better profilewithout any reduction of the existing structural material in the market. The profile design is the development ofan existing profile design or commercial profile. Testing of the comparison of new profile design results withcommercial profiles is done by simulation of Autodesk Inventor 2010. Simulation results are in the form ofcomparison of numbers. Abstract

Perovskite catalyst composite of cerium ferrite (CeFeO3) have been successfully prepared via assembling mesoporous CeFeO3 on the surface of spent bleaching earth (SBE) with citricacid assisted sol-gel method. Physical properties were characterized by several techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nitrogen gas adsorption-desorption (BET), absorbanceof oxidation samples were analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometer measurement. The activity of CeFeO3/SBE catalyst was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation ofmethylene blue (MB) in aqueous solutions under visible light irradiation. Effect the type of supports (SBE extraction and calcination resulted), catalyst concentrations (0.5-1.5 g/L), pH(5.0, 7.0, 9.0 and 11.0) and initial concentrations of MB (10-40 mg/L) were investigated in this research. Result indicating that CeFeO3/SBE extraction exhibited remarkablephotocatalytic degradation activity with the overall removal of MB up to 99.20% within 135 minutes at the conditions of 10 mg/L methylene blue, 1.0 g/L catalyst and pH 7 (neutral).Therefore, the CeFeO3/SBE is a very promising photocatalyst in future industrial application to treat effectively wastewater of dyes.Keywords: cerium ferrite, methylene blue, perovskite, photocatalytic, wastewater
