Abstract

Guava leaf extract has a considerable influence in decreasing the corrosion rate of a metal, because it contains tannin compounds which can be used as corrosion inhibitors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of addition of guava leaf extract inhibitors on the corrosion rate of carbon steel with variations in immersion time and determine the inhibition efficiency of variations in the concentration of guava leaf extract on carbon steel in corrosive media. The parameters varied in this study were the immersion time of the maceration process, the inhibitor concentration added in the corrosive solution of hydrochloric acid, namely 0; 0.5; 1.0 and 1.5 g/L as well as variations in the time of corrosion testing at 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours. The time of maceration process shows that the longer the contact time, the greater the concentration of crude tannin, while the time of immersion of steel shows the longer the immersion time, the corrosion rate tends to decrease with the addition of inhibitors and the higher the value of inhibitory efficiency. The best crude tannin concentration was obtained during the maceration process for 6 days with crude tannin concentration of 86.46 mg/L. The lowest corrosion rate was obtained on the addition of 1.5 g/L inhibitors with a 48 hours immersion time of 7.36 mm/year. The highest corrosion rate is without the addition of an inhibitor with a 36 hours immersion time of 26.09 mm/year. The results showed the best inhibition efficiency values using guava leaf extract inhibitors on the addition of 1.5 g/L inhibitors in soaked for 48 hours in 0.5 M hydrochloric acid corrosive media with an efficiency value of 70.31%.Keywords: carbon steel, corrosion rate, guava leaves, inhibitors, maceration

Abstract

Composite with suitable mechanical properties were needed to meet SNI in the operation of tank in water treatment unit. Some things that can effect it were thick composites and percent weight of fiber. This research aims to make composites with natural fiber fillers from pineapple leaves, acknowledge the optimum tensile strength and flexural strength in composites with variations in composite thickness, and acknowledge the optimum tensile strength and flexural strength in composites with variations in fiber weight. In this research the material used is pineapple fiber with a fiber weight of 15%, 25%, 35%, 45%, with variations of thickness 1; 2 3 4; and 5 mm, used Polyester BQTN 157 as its matrix. Made in press mold, tensile srength tested the standard carried out with ASTM 638-02 and bending standards with the standard reference ASTM D 790-02. Tested was carried out on variations in fiber weight 15%, 25%, 35%, 45%, and variations in composite thickness 1; 2 3 4; and 5 mm . From the tests that have been carried out obtained maximum tensile strength of 63.02 MPa, at 45% by weight of fiber and 5 mm thick, while on bending testing the optimal average on fiber weight was 45% with a thickness of 1 mm which was equal to 445.50 MPa. Abstract

The coconut plantation area on the banks of the Undan river is not function optimally. It can be seen from the inability of the river in flowing runoff discharge. The floods caused many dead coconut trees and disrupted the activities of residents in Sei Undan Village. Flood simulation analysis is done by analyzing the capacity of the river channel and comparing the calculated discharge it with rational method. Analyze channel calculation using HEC-RAS 4.1.0 software. Profile analysis is done by dividing into 2 river channels that reach A and B with 3 different reset times, is 5 years, 10 years, and 25 years. The result of this research can be seen that the existing condition with maximum height in reach B is 30 cm for return periode of 5 years, 30 cm for return periode of 10 years and 30 cm for return periode of 25 years and to reach A that is 19 cm for return periode of 5-years, 34 cm for return periode of 10 years, and 27 cm for return periode of 25 years. Simulation by constructing a levee on the riverbank by looking for Maximum inundation height with a higher levee size than the maximum inundation.Keywords: Flood, Rational Method, HEC-RAS 4.1

Abstract

In this research refers to the variation of the surface geometry design of the motorcycle disc brake pads. The purpose of this study was to obtain the surface geometry of the disc brake pads and obtain the stress distribution from the surface geometry of the standard motorcycle disc brake pads. In this study was analyzed the stress that occurs on the surface of the disc brake pads. The results of the disc brake pads analysis in the study was evaluated and compared with commercial brake pads products. In the design of surface geometry of motorcycle disc brake pads using geometry modeling software (design modeler) on ANSYS release 12.1. The designs made in this study were varied in 6 designs that being compared and selected from the design, which having the highest stress distribution value. From the simulation result, it was found that having the highest stress distribution value disc brake pads surface geometry for standard motorcycle was on brake pads design 4, which can increase the tension on the surface of the disc brake pads with maximum equivalent stress value of 4.2186 MPa and its minimum value of 0.019341 MPa.Keywords: Geometry surface, disc brake pads, stress distribution, ANSYS simulation.

Abstract

Orphanage as a home or residence used to care, care for orphans, orphans and orphans. In fulfilling the physical,mental and social needs that require the role of companion as a substitute in creating the character especially in thefemale children. There is not much facilities and infrastructure to support the needs of the life of the orphanage. Byoptimizing the growth with affection, comfort, coaching and carers in formal education, morals and entrepreneurship inaccordance with the girl character of prosperous and independent. It becomes the background of this design. So thisdesign illustrates the application of Behavioral Architecture. The research method used is behavioral mapping method(behavioral mapping) which applied to the building. Data collection methods such as field data collection, literaturestudy and empirical study. Application of Child Behavior to the building concept used in this design is familytogetherness which can provide love, togetherness and provide a place for learning activities, playing, as well asdeveloping talent for children. Abstract

Bacillus licheniformis is a bacteria that has high heat resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature (T: 85 ° C, 90 ° C, 95 ° C) at soluble solid SS: 12 ° Brix on the thermal inactivation of B. licheniformis. Then determine the value of D andZ. This study uses the thermal method of pasteurization process and spore calculation using the spread plate method. The D-values obtained at SS 12 ° Brix for temperatures 85, 90 and 95 ° C were 16.56; 7.63; and 3.52 minutes and the Z-value obtained is in the at 14,88 ° C. Itwas shown that haiger temperature resulted in the decreasing of the time needed to inactivate the spores. The results of this study emphasize the importance of temperature to the D and Z value for pineapple juice pasteurization.Keywords: bacillus licheniformis, endospore, inactivation, pasteurization, pineapple juice.

Abstract

In the implemetation of concrete building construction there is a problem when casting in water. To solve this problem, sodium tripolyphosphate use in the concrete mixture. The purpose of using sodium tripolyphosphate is to accelerates the process of concrete hardening in water as well is to increase the binding of fresh concrete material. The alternative to maintain the quality concrete in water filler was needed. The filler used namely stone ash (self compacting concrete). The stone ash is hygroscopic and easy to obtain. The use of stone ash is to increase the viscosity of fresh concrete while reducing the tendency of segregation and bleeding in fresh concrete. The goal of the study is to determine Sodium Tripolyphosphate effect to the physical properties of under water concrete and to obtain the optimum composition of constituents of under water concrete. Sodium Tripolyphosphate which is used in this study is the addition of variations of 5%, 10% and 15% to the weight of cement. While the amount of stone ash used is 10% to the weight of fine aggregate. The slump flow of 5%, 10% and 15% sodium tripolyphosphate is 620 mm, 570 mm and 400 mm, respectively. The volume weight concrete with 5%, 10% and 15% sodium tripolyphosphate are 2274.98 kg/m3, 2312.54 kg/m3 and 2288.14 kg/m3, respectively. Whereas the porosity concrete with 5%, 10% and 15% sodium tripolyphosphate respectively were 23.10%, 21.97% and 22.55%. From the FTIR test results, it is showed that 10% sodium tripolyphosphate is the mixture were more stable compared to other variations.Key words: Sodium tripolyphosphate, under water concrete, stone ash, variation, percentage

Abstract

The inundation area is an area that inundated by water in case of the drainage channel cannot accommodate the flow of discharge, which causes the material losses and disturb the community activities. However, to solve the problem of flooding in Pekanbaru can not be done thoroughly because of the limited funds. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare the priority scale of channel rehabilitation drainage in Pekanbaru. The preparation of priority scale of drainage channel is done by using Analytic Network Process (ANP) method and assisted with Super Decisions software. The preparation of the priority scale refers to the rules minister of public works number: 12 / PRT / M / 2014. The results show there are 10 locations which ranked by the priority scale from the highest to the lowest which is the highest priority is the Tanjung Datuk street of Limapuluh subdistrict and the lowest is kota baru street of Senapelan subdistrict.Keywords : Analytic Network Process, Inundation, Drainage channel, Priority scale

Abstract

In designing a car that is comfortable and safe when driving, there are some things to watch out for, namely the steering system, brakes, and suspension. In this study, the authors will analyze about the braking system on the car Bono Kampar. The research of the braking system begins by searching for the specification data from Bono Kampar's car. After the data of Bono Kampar's car specification was obtained, then calculations were done to find the car's center of gravity, measure the dimensions of the braking system, calculate the braking distance, calculate the braking torque force, calculate the actual or theoretical braking proportions, calculate the vertical force, and analyze the theoretical stability or actual.From this study it can be concluded that the direction of behavior on Bono Kampar car is understeer according to the method theoretical and actual.Keyword :car, brake system, proportion of braking, stability of car direction.

Abstract

Bengkalis Coast has been attacked by abrassion process and needs to be restored as before with mangrove restoration. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of sea waves and to analyze the condition of the coast for conducive of mangrove restoration. The method used is wave simulation by some alternative cases which is processed using CADMAS-SURF. The area of study was focused in Selat Baru Coast, northern part of Bengkalis Island. The results show that Selat Baru coast has a significant wave height of1,396 m and a period of 5,572 seconds. Protected coastal areas of the breakwater is a conducive condition for mangrove restoration.Keyword: wave simulation, bengkalis coast, CADMAS-SURF
