Abstract

The population of Pekanbaru City grows increasingly every year, especially in Bukit Raya Sub-district. The higher number of motorcycle used by the people as a transportation directly affect the amount of CO2 emissions generated from each vehicles. This study aims to calculate the volume of vehicles and predict CO2 emissions from the number of vehicles in Bukit Raya District. The methodology used in this study is the calculation of the number of vehicles on Sudirman Street, Teuku Bey and Karya I, the calculation of the conversion of the number of vehicles with units of passenger cars (SMP), and calculation of CO2 emissions on effective and non effective day in Bukit Raya District. Total emissions generated from transport activities in Bukit Raya District are 422 ton CO2 / day on effective day and 241,46 ton CO2 / day on non effective day.Keywords: Carbon Dioxide Emissions, Passenger Car Unit (SMP), Emission Factor, Transportation.

Abstract

A study of flywheel mass variation is done in order to keeping the undershot waterwheel performance as a picohydro scale power plant. Testing is done with the available mass variation and in pair on each the four-shaft multilevel transmission system. From the test it is know that fluctuation of generator rotation decreases with increased flywheel mass, where the decrease of fluctuation occurred in flywheel mass 11.05 Kg and 14.63 Kg, while the constant rotation of the generator on the flywheel mass 26.54 Kg and 42 Kg. The optimal mounting position to reduce the fluctuation of rotation is the nearest position on the generator is on the fourth shaft. Influence of flywheel mass variation and mounting at transmission level, can be seen through the graph of fluctuation correlation of generator rotation with flywheel mass, indicates that the installation is on fourth shaft there was a decrease of fluctuation along with the addition of flywheel mass, so it affects the power generated generator.Keywords : Flywheel, Fluctuation, Waterwheel, Irrigation, Picohydro

Abstract

In improving the quality of a university, the role of students is very important, where students are expected to graduate on the right time. Of course, this condition is facilitated by the existence of a system for predicting the length of students study. This system is needed by students to find out whether students graduated on time or not. This system is implemented with length of Matlab 2016a software, by using the Backpropagation Method. This system predicts length of students study time based on input variables that have been provided. Then system processes with the Backpropagation Method and displays results, such as in the form of graduating on time or late. A total of 110 data of Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau Academic Year 2010 to 2014 are used in this study, consisting of 77 training data and 33 test data. The final result of this study is that the system can be used to predict the length of study of time students with a research level of 93%.Keywords : backpropagation

Abstract

This paper proposes Long Term Evolution (LTE) network design using of which is eNodeB parameter data existing supplied by Telkomsel operators in the area of Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru. The design was involved several stages namely data analysis, network planning based on capacity (Capacity Planning), network planning based on area coverage (Planning Coverage)and the final stage of design to do simulation using the software atoll. Based on capacity planning, obtained a maximum capacity of cell is 100.6 Mbps with the coverage area cells 1,001 km2 andradius cells 0.444 km2 so obtained 4 eNodeB. Based on obtained coverage planning, obtained a link budget calculation parameters are planning well enough in accordance with the standards ofquality coverage planning, with extensive coverage area cells 262.8 km2 and radius cells 7.2 km2 so obtained 1 eNode. Universitas Riau have urban morphology with an area of 3.62 km2 and 13.978 subscribers, simulation of design on software atoll generate an average signal level -72.11 dBm.Keywords : LTE, planning capacity, Planning Coverage, Average Signal Level

Abstract

A CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machine is a machine tool that can work automatically. The CNC machine sends operational instructions that are inputted via a computer that is directly connected to the machine. This CNC machine uses PC (Personal Computer) as main control with windows platform for Operation System (OS). The CNC programming becomes an important element of the machine in work. The numerical signals are inputted into the Mach3 software as the main controls for the movement of axis (axes) x, y, and z as well as spindles. EIA-RS 274D programming format or G & M codes are used in this study for further adjustment of characters per character so that bug error does not occured on Mach3. Therefore, a CNC machine programming plan is created to adjust the machine, which can work according to the design of the Mastercam software. Mastercam software is selected because it has the completeness to design and obtain program instructions with simulation. Mastercam is a full-featured modeling software that combines 2D and 3D frame and surface geometry with editing and transformation capabilities. The G & M codes were generated by Mastercam that would be adjusted by removing G2 and G3 commands, which circular or unidirectional motion commands. In conclusion, this research revealed the program adjustment and program execution of a CNC program creating with CAD CAM system into the interface, therefore the CNC machine can be controlled by the PC device.Key words : CNC, Mastercam, G & M Codes, Mach3

Abstract

Biodiesel is one of the alternative fuels as a substitute for fossil fuels synthesised from the transesterification reaction. The process of making biodiesel which using a homogeneous catalyst is costly for product separation process. Thus use of heterogeneous catalysts such as Ni/Clay catalyst was developed. This study aims to produce biodiesel from Hura crepitans Linn oil to determine best conditions of making biodiesel, determine the physical andchemical properties of biodiesel produced and studied the effect of the amount of Ni metal that has been impregnated on clay. In this process, the amount of oil use is 50 grams, 90 minute reaction time and concentration of catalyst 0.5%-b. Variations in reactants mole ratio oil : methanol 1 : 6, 1 : 9, 1 : 12, varying the amount of Ni metal 0%-b, 1%-b, 2%-b, 3%-b impregnated into the clay. The highest result biodiesel produced from Hura crepitans Linn oilwas 93.70% having mole ratio of oil : methanol 1 : 9 with Ni catalyst (3%). Physical properties obtained at biodiesl result density 884 kg / m3, kinematic viscosity 4.46 mm2/s,acid number 0.49 mg KOH/g sample and flash point is 185°C .Keywords : Biodiesel, Catalyst Ni / clay, Hura crepitans Linn oil

Abstract

Bus Trans Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) is a mass public transportation that operates in Pekanbaru City with transit working system, which aims to improve public transportation services in Pekanbaru City. Pekanbaru City Government officially launched the TMP bus on June 18, 2009, it has been 9 years since the first TMP bus was operated. It is necessary to analysis of Vehicle Operational Cost (BOK ) and calculation of the subsidi, to know total subsidi TMP bus in a day. The result of the analysis of BOK in 2017 is Rp.8.628 per seat-km per year. The result of the subsidi TMP bus corridor III is Rp.676.553. So the next step is find and analyze the alternative problem-solving simulation then that alternative can be used for investment of TMP bus corridor III become worthy of investment and profit financially. Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative energy to replace fossil fuels. It can be synthesized by transesterification process of palm oils. Commonly the process of producing biodiesel was used NaOH or KOH as homogeneous catalyst which has the disadvantage because the formation of side products such as soaps and complexity of the separation of catalyst. This research aims to derive biodiesel from seed calophyllum inophyllum oil (CIO) through transesterification using heterogeneous base catalyst Na2SiO3/Fe3O4. Catalyst Na2SiO3/Fe3O4 was synthesized from fly ash palm oil, sodium hydroxide, and iron powder. Condition operation the transesterification are molar ratio of oil:methanol 1:9 and loading catalyst 3%-w with under stirring 300 rpm. The highest yield of biodiesel is 89,48% under the transesterification reaction temperature 60 oC, reaction time 2 hours. Density (40°C) of biodiesel is 862,56 kg/m3, kinematic viscosity (40°C) is 3,54 mm2/s, flash point is 140°C and acid value is 0,50 mg-KOH/g-biodiesel.Keyword: Biodiesel, Esterification, Catalyst, seed calophyllum inophyllum oil (CIO) and Transesterification.

Abstract

Tampan District doesn’t have a facility construction faecal sludge treatment plan so that the septic tank draining directly discharges to open lands. Based on Permen PU No. 01/PRT/M/2014 Tampan District already complete the minimum services standards of a faecal sludge treatment plan was planned to solve the faecal sludge problem in four subdistrict in Tampan District. Processing system that is applied is physically processing by sludge seperation chamber (SSC) to separate solids from faecal sludge at the beginning of processing, SSC are provided 4 bath processing efficiency for BOD 35% and TSS 85%. Subsequent processing in biology by the 2 units of anaerobic baffle reactor (ABR) each of which consists of five compartments, 2 units ABR processing efficiency for BOD 95% and 85%, TSS is 85% and 80%. the Characteristics of faecal sludge before processing BOD 6,400 mg/l and TSS 29,900 mg/l. t Effluents water from the faecal sludge processing already met the standard based on Permen LH No. 5 in 2014 with a value of BOD 36 mg / liter and the value of TSS 155 mg / liter.Keywords: Subdistrict Tampan, Faecal Sludge, IPLT, Sludge Separation Chamber (SSC), Anaerobic Baffle Reactor (ABR).

Abstract

Perimping grass is one of lignocellulosic material which has not been fully utilized, so it is potential to be used as raw material for pulping which will provide economic value added. Organosolv pulping is the process of pulp making using organic solution. The objectives of this research is to study effect of the process conditions on tensile index. Effect of the process conditions were studied by Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with Central Composite Design (CCD). The experiment pulping is carried out at the boiling temperature of liquor at atmospheric pressure, with 40 grams of perimping grass using formic acid (concentrations of 60%, 70%, and 80%), reaction time (60 minutes, 120 minutes, and 180 minutes), liquid to solid ratio (10/1, 15/1 , And 20/1 b/b), with HCl catalyst 0.1% wt. The result pulp of the perimping grass for tensile index is 659.3-2.1149 N m/g. The variable interaction (concentration of formic acid and reaction time) is a significant factor to the pulp tensile index.Keywords: formic acid, organosolv pulping, perimping grass, RSM, tensile index
