Abstract

A good electric power system must have a voltage value that does not exceed the tolerance limit, also a small power loss. The tolerance limit allowed for the value of the voltage is ± 5%of the nominal value. The use of Static Var Compensator (SVC) is an attempt to overcome the problem of loss of transmission power and voltage drop due to the addition of electricalloads. In this study, SVC placement was carried out on the IEEE 14 bus transmission network using an electrical power system analysis software. Simulation results show a decrease inactive power losses from 68.5 MW to 43,7 MW and reactive power losses from 256.4 MVAR to 160,8 MVAR.Keywords – IEEE 14 Bus, Power losses, Static VAR Compensator

Abstract

The sulfur hexafluorida (SF6) is the best insulators for high voltage. However, SF6 has a very serious problem for the environment that this gas has make a big contribution for global warming. Of course, the study of other insulators is necessary to get the efficient insulation than SF6. Required alternative insulation gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen (N2) or vacuum insulation. From experiment testing with needle electrodes and sphere electrodes for vacuum pressure on -100 mmHg, -150 mmHg, -250 mmHg and -500 mmHg, respectively show the breakdown voltage is lowest than to the air pressure insulation. Then, the data from the study also found that the vacuum breakdown voltage is smaller than air. The use of linear method can show the vacuum breakdown voltage is inversely proportional to the air. But vacuum breakdown voltage is directly proportional to the distance between the needle electrode or sphere electrode.Key words: vacuum insulation, linear method, breakdown voltage

Abstract

Biocoagulant is a natural coagulant that has an active substance and has a role as cationic which is able to bind colloidal particles in water. Chitosan is a non-toxic, easy-to-degrade and polyelectrolyte biocogulant that can be found in crustacean animals especially in s (Pomacea Canaliculata). The availability of shell waste has a huge potential to be used as raw material for making chitosan. High concentration of detergent in water can cause water quality to decrease and environmental pollution in the form of increase of phosphate level, so that the previous processing is needed by using coagulation-flocculation method. The research process was done gradually starting from the extraction of shells to chitosan by deproteination process, demineralization, and deacetylation, followed by Coagulation-flocculation method. The study was conducted by varying the dose of coagulant by 200 mg / L, 250 mg / L, 300 mg / L, 350 mg/L and 400 mg / L. The effluent was then analyzed by the laboratory, for phosphate refers to SNI 06-6989.31-2005. The result of the analysis was then compared with the PERMENLH / 5/2014 quality standard. Based on the laboratory results, after analyzing the concentration of the parameters tested, it showed that the maximum allowance of phosphate parameters were 67.57% respectively at 300 mg / L, coagulant dose with stirring speed of 150 rpm for 2 min and 60 rpm for 15 min followed by deposition for 30 min. The result of the analysis is compared with the PERMENLH / 5/2014 quality standard. the results of the analysis for phosphate values have met the quality standard, where the standard limit of laundry liquid waste for phosphate 2 mg/L.Keywords: Biocoagulant, chitosan, coagulation-flocculation, phosphate

Abstract

A septic tank is a room or several waterproof rooms that function to collect or treat wastewater. The purpose of this study was to know how many of septic tank users in each district in the city of Pekanbaru on 2018. Pekanbaru has 12 districts with a total of 254.263 householders and the septic tank users as many as 225.622 units. The result show that the most in the Tampan sub-district, totaling 50.840 and at least in the Sail sub-district, totaling 4,749. Keywords: Septic Tank, Sub-district, Tampan, Sail

Abstract

In design a car, it was necessary to pay attention to the frame structure design to get safety and comfort in driving. The frame design process starts with frame selection and material selection, followed by manual static calculation and stress analysis simulation using Autodesk Inventor 2017. The forces obtained by the frame comes from the weight of the driver, engine, and the body of the car. After the frame design has done, we get the results of the frame with a length of 2700 mm, a width of 550 mm and a height of 565 mm, this is based on the body shape of the car, driver, and available engine. The material of frame is a profile rod rectangular hollow 40 mm x 20 mm x 2 mm and square hollow 40 mm x 40 mm x 2 mm. In the static simulation obtained the greatest stress occurs in the main rod with a value of 100.8 MPa, and with the selection of the safety factor value of 4, so that the material suitable for use is carbon steel ST37. From the simulation results obtained the minimum safety factor value with a value of 1.83 but only in one small area in the frame.Keyword : frame, static analysis, stress, safety factor, Autodesk Inventor

Abstract

This study examines the compressive strength and sorptivity of PCC concrete and PCC-FA concrete subjected to the exposure of peat water. The specimens were treated with two different, namely static and wet-dry exposure. In the static exposure, the sample were curedcontinuously in the peat water at the age of 7 and 28 days. In the wet-dry exposure, the samples were put in the cycles of wet and dry during the curing by using peat water. Fly ashwas used to increase the compressive strength and sorptivity of concrete during wet-dry cycles immersion since the wet-dry cycle in peat water is considered as the worst environmental condition that can affect the strength of concrete. The compressive strength ofPCC (static), PCC-FA (static) and PCC-FA (wet-dry) were increased at 28 days immersion in peat water, respectively by 7.24%, 20.45% and 12.89%. The compressive strength of PCC(wet-dry) decreased at 28 days immersion in peat water by 4.31%. The sorptivity was inversely proportional to the results of compressive strength. Based on the test results, it wasconcluded that the use of fly ash in concrete that experiences a wet-dry constant state could improve the quality of concrete if immersed in peat water.Keywords : Fly ash concrete, fly ash, wet-dry cycles, peat water, PCC.

Abstract

The end of Sibuak line feeder facing a voltage drop phenomena. This phenomena is contributed by the length of the transmission line, as well as the distribution line. This paper purposes a reconfiguration of Sibuak feeder in order to reduce amount of power losses and the drop voltage. The design of reconfiguation Sibuak feeder refers to PLN standard (SPLN 1,1978).This reconfiguration uses LBS status updating approach which is triggered from Normally Close (NC) into Normally Open (NO) or in the refers condition. Beside that, it is required load transfer from Sibuak Feedr in to Cadika Feeder. The result of ETAP 12.6.0 software indicates that the reconfigured Sibuak Feeder able to achieve lowest voltage on 18,162 kV with power losses shows 1,652 and 1,186 MVAR respectively..Keywords : power losses, voltage drop, feeder of sibuak, ETAP 12.6.0

Abstract

The worst network performance of “3” network provider at Building C, Faculty of Engineering has affected to the users in download / upload data from internet. Walking test measuremeat has performed and showed that average power level at each floor is -95,59 dBm. It does not meet 3GPP standard. Therefore, this paper presents the design of femtocell network for 3G indoor communication at Building C, Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau by using Radio Wave Propagation Simulator (RPS). There are two design considerations need to be calculated such as coverage area and network capacity. In terms of coverage area, four (4) Femtocell Access Points (FAPs) are required for each floor. However for netwok capacity, the FAPs are not distibuted equally for each floor, two (2) FAPs are required for 1st and 2nd floor, five (5) FAPs are required for 3rd floor. Three (3) scenarios for FAPs position are performed in this simulation; FAP is at the middle, corner, and random of ceiling. The best simulation results are obtained for random position which gives coverage area of -36.19 dBm and the lowest Signal Interference Ratio (SIR) of 1.50 dB. Abstract

Chitosan is used in a variety of industrial applications, such as purification agents, flocculation agents, anti-microbial agents, biological adhesives, anti-tumor agents and the cosmetic industry. This study studied deacetylation reaction kinetics and the effect of particle size difference on chitosan formation of chitin using raw materials of ebi industrial waste. Chitosan was obtained by deproteination, demineralization and deacetylation using 50% NaOH with a ratio of 1:20 (w / v) at a temperature of 80 ° C. Samples were analyzed using FTIR sprestroscopy and acid-base titration. The results showed the deacetylation degree at minute 120 for chitin diameter 0.25, 0.177, 0.152 mm were 51.51, 64.39, and 78.87%, respectively. The reaction mechanism is determined by model matching using the SSE value of the model against the value of the data obtained. From the result of approach done using the Shrinking Unreacted Core model it is known that the reaction is influenced by diffusivity. This corresponds to the value of the obtained diffusivity for each sample ranging from 0.25, 0.177 and 0.152 mm diameters respectively of 1.841. 10-18, 2.657. 10-18, and 3.085 .10-18 m2/s.Keywords : Deacetylation, reaction kinetics, chitosan, ebi’s waste, shrinking unreacted core model

Abstract

The crude oil based transformer insulation has several issues i.e. non-environment friendly, non-biodegradable, non-reneweble, and rarely. Vegetable oil is an alternative transformer insulation which is Crude Palm Oil based RBDPO Olein. This paper proposes study to investigate characteristic the AC breakdown voltage referring to IEC 60156-95 standard to apply sphere electrode of RBDPO Olein prior water content reduction, post water content reduction, and converting fatty acids into Methyl Ester. Breakdown voltage also look into the effect of gap electrode and affectivity of sphere electrode scheme. The experiment has shown the breakdown voltage have increased significantly after various samples of RBDPO Olein being reduction the water content, has compered to IEC 156 standard with the value of (30 kV/2.5 mm). The gap of electrode has shown a significant value on breakdown voltage measurement result. In the mean time to measure the effectivity breakdown voltage of sphere electrode scheme, the Mineral Oil is deployed with complied to IEC 156 standard. The measurement result shows lower then IEC 60156-95 standard was 68,73 %. The experiment also shown the density measurement, the viscosity measurement, the dissolved gas analysis measurement, and dielectric dissipation factor measurement achieve RBDPO Olein less water concentration.Keywords: RBDPO Olein, Breakdown Voltage, Sphere Electrode, IEC 156 standard, and IEC 60156-95 standard.
