Abstract

Corrosion has been identified as one of the major problems in the chemical industry, especially in the pipeline’s system. The inhibitor is the most effective way to protect the metal against corrosion. The natural corrosion inhibitor is chosen as an alternative because it’s safe, widely available, low cost, biodegradable and environmentally friendly. This study aims to know the corrosion rate and the inhibition efficiency of Terminalia Catappa L leaf extract for low carbon steel. Terminalia Catappa L leaf extract was obtained by soxhlet extraction using ethanol-water as the solvent. Corrosion rate were determined by using the weight loss method. Low carbon steel was immersed in HCl 0.1 0.5 m and 1 M with and without Terminalia Catappa L leaf extract 0 g/L and 1.5 g/L by immersion time 24, 48,72,96 h. The result showed that corrosion rate decreases on increasing of concentration of the extract and increases the inhibition efficiency. The maximum efficiency was obtaining at 1.5 g/L of corrosion inhibitor of 96 hours contact time in HCl 0.1 M with inhibition efficiency 89,77%. Abstract

Indonesia's dependence on fossil energy has made the availability of petroleum decrease drastically. This situation was driven by increased growth in the industrial sector and population. The depletion of fossil energy reserves must be immediately balanced with the provision of alternative energy, one of the uses of biomass as an alternative fuel to replace fossil fuels is to make it into briquettes. Biomass waste produced from the palm oil industry are solid waste of empty palm oil fruit bunches and solid waste of spent bleaching earth. The hoped that empty palm oil fruit bunches waste and spent bleaching earth solid waste can be reused so that waste does not become an environmental problem because it is existence has not been optimally untilized. Abstract

Waste is the residue of human activities that form of solid waste. Waste needs to be managed to avoid having a negative impact. One effort to manage a waste is to make the transportation of waste. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the transport of waste and to make plans regarding the transport of waste in the Sukajadi District. Result of this research shows that dump truck that do not doing sweeping and focus on hauling the waste on x, sothe hauling waste can be short and it will increase the amount of waste being transported.Calculating data indicate that waste hauling is effective but it unproductive Productivity of waste hauling activities can be seen at off-route value. Average score off route That value falls below the range of productive waste hauling values. X. The plan is to change the route of waste hauling. Vehicles that changes routes are SHI 31 Rit I and SHI 45 Rit II.the route from the these vehicle was re-planed because it took a long route, thus spending considerable time on the road. Abstract

These days, people's interest in consuming fruit juice such as pineapple in containers is very high because it is easier to consume and has a longer shelf life. Pineapple juice that is not processed properly can be contaminated with various decomposing microorganisms, one of which is the fungus Eupenicillium javanicum. E. javanicum can form spores and cause decay in pineapple which if consumed will cause mycotoxins. Therefore, processing by thermal pasteurization is needed to reduce certain undesirable microorganisms in the fruit juice products. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperatures (80, 85, and 90 ℃ ) and spore age (30 and 60 days) on the thermal inactivation of E. javanicum spores. For 30day-old spores, to reduce 1 log of spores in pineapple juice at 13 ° Brix, it takes 27.62 minutes at 80 ° C, 12.8 minutes at 85 ° C and 3.19 minutes at 90 ° C. Also for the spores with 60 days there was a decrease in logarithms, namely at 43.67 minutes at 80 ° C, 29.07 minutes at 85 ° C and 6.5 minutes at 90 ° C. It was found that the temperature and age of the spores greatly influenced the level of resistance of E. javanicum spores in pineapple juice. Abstract

The cashier is the person who receives and returns the remaining money to the customer. One of cashier's most important problems is the absence of modern tools, such as barcode scanners, which can simplify the cashier's performance in calculating the total amount of purchases by customers. That's why we need a cash register application with Android. The Waterfall method used by the author, because the process is carried out one by one, so that any errors can be resolved first before proceed to the next step. The application can scan more than one items simultaneously. Simultaneous scanning testing is performed with four items at once with different barcode sizes and is performed at different distances. Abstract

Palm oil mill effluent containing pollutants and has high content of organic matter. Organic material contained in palm oil mill effluent can be used as nutrition by microalgae Chlorella sp. and can reduce Total Nitrogen content in palm oil mill effluent. The nitrogen total removal process was carried out in a flat-photobioreactor with various concentrations of combinade Fe dan Co in the amount Fe is 0,3; 0,5; and 0,7 mg/L and Co is 1 and 2 mg/L with contact times of 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 days. The results showed that at a combination of 0,5 mg/L Fe + 0,2 mg/L Co, the highest microalgae cell growth was 6,00 x 106 cell/ml and the highest removal efficiency of organic matter of total nitrogen is 85,3%. Abstract

An Energy Efficient Car vehicle is designed to be safe and efficient and energy efficient when driving, so there are several things that must be considered, including the steering system, brakes, vehicle body, vehicle weight and engine. The factor that affects performance and reduces exhaust emissions of the combustion engine is the quality of fuel combustion in the combustion chamber. One of the influencing parameters is the magnitude of the compression ratio, the ignition angle, and the use of ethanol fuel. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using ethanol fuel with a compression ratio of 17,1: 1 with variations in engine speed of 2000 rpm, 3000 rpm and 4000 rpm and variations in ignition angles (15o, 17o, 20o and 22o) before TMA (Upper Dead Point). After the research was carried out, the results showed that the lowest specific fuel consumption (SFC) was at 2000 rpm, namely when the ignition angle was 15o before TMA with a value of 6,236 x 10-8 with a power of 1019,8 Watts, the lowest SFC was at 3000 rpm, which is when the ignition angle is 20o before TDC with a value of 5,33 x 10-8 with a power of 1491,3 Watts, and the lowest SFC is at 4000 rpm, which is when the ignition angle is 22o before TMA with a value of 4,102 x 10-8 with a power of 2341,7 Watts. This means that the higher the engine speed, the smaller the SFC and the greater the power, the faster the time to use fuel consumption. Abstract

Chimney Solar Power Plant (SCPP) is part of a form of solar thermal collector technology. SCPP has the working principle of absorbing solar thermal energy using a glass collector, then converting the hot air that flows into electrical energy through a turbine. Converging lenses can increase the output power. The function of the focusing lens can increase the intensity of light that will be received by the receiver so that the light beam received is greater than without a converging lens. This tool consists of 4 main components, namely: cover, collector, buffer and condensing lens. The support is made of reinforcing steel which is formed into a circle. The collector is made of concrete and painted black to absorb more heat and is circled. The collector is installed under the support and then a cover made of clear plastic is attached. At the top of the collector, a concentrate lens is installed. This study aims to determine the temperature increase that occurs in the solar collector using a concentrated lens and to determine the potential of the solar collector using a concentrated lens and without using a concentrated lens. The results of tests carried out on solar collectors show that solar collectors built without concentrating lenses can increase the air temperature and also increase the incoming air flow. The addition of a concentrated lens with a zigzag pattern gives the effect of increasing the temperature on the solar collector. So that through solar radiation, concentrated lenses can also improve the performance of solar collectors. The average wind power generated by a system without a concentration lens is 0.5W, with 21 concentrating lenses at 1.38W, and with 36 concentrating lenses at 1.56W. Abstract

Road is one of the land transportation infrastructures which is very important for users of land transportation modes. If this infrastructure functions properly, it will affect the economic growth of the community because it facilitates population mobility, and increases other social activities. Damage to the road will interfere with driving comfort and safety, such as in Jalan Riau Ujung in Pekanbaru City, where the pavement has suffered a lot of damage such as potholes, transverse cracks and abrasion. The purpose of this study is to identify the type of damage, classify the type of damage and determine the level of pavement damage, and to determine the priority of handling road damage. This research was conducted visually with the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method. The Riau Ujung Pekanbaru road segment with a length of 1.8 km and a width of 7 m is divided into several segments, each segment is evaluated by measuring dimensions, identification of the type and degree of damage to obtain a PCI value. The results of the analysis showed that damage occurred, among others, Elongated Cracks, Removal of Grains, Holes, Lumps, Puffs, Cracked Edges, Cracked Crocodile Skins, Patches and Cracked Blocks. The average PCI value for the Riau Ujung road in Pekanbaru City is 75.51 categorized in Very Good condition, so that the handling of road damage as referred to in the collector road classification is 6-10 years of maintenance. Abstract

Zeolites are crystalline aluminosilicate minerals with a three-dimensional open structure containing pores that can occupied by water and by alkali and alkaline earth cations. Zeolite can be used as an adsorbent in water treatment, one of which is as an adsorbent in peat water treatment. The adsorption process uses absorbents to absorb Fe in peat water. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of mass ratio of zeolite with variation of mass 1; 1,.5; 2; 2,5; 3; 3,5 and 4 gr. The highest removal efficiency 96,33 % was reached by the zeolite with 2,5 gr of mass. Keywords: Zeolite, Adsorbent, Fe, Peat water
