Abstract

Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) is a biological processing technology with two microorganism culture processes, namely inherent growth and suspended growth. Microalgae Chlorella sp. is one microorganism that can be used in biological processing. Microalgae can stick to the surface of the media because microalgae produce extracellular soluble Algae Products (SAP) consisting of proteins and polysaccharides that are useful in the process of attaching microalgae to the surface of the bio carrier media. This study aims to set aside the parameter of ammonia in domestic wastewater. In this study, the media used were made of spiral hoses and plastic straws with a length of 10 mm and a diameter of 12.7 mm. Processing with MBBR uses variations in media volume that is 15%, 30%, and 45% and with variations in contact time 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 days. The results showed the highest removal efficiency of ammonia in 30% media volume variations on the 7th day respectively 89.82%.Keywords: Biocarrier, Chlorella sp., Domestic Liquid Waste, MBBR

Abstract

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is a thermoplastic polymer. Lightness, rigidity, impact resistance, ease of processing, resistance to chemicals and applicable are ABS properties interesting. The base ABS is added methyl methacrylate to enhance the appearance and become a transparent material. The ABS consumption in 2018-2026 tends to increase due to its properties, especially in the lightweight engineering plastics region. Our final project is proposed to design a new ABS plant that meets 10% of domestic ABS needs. This project decreases the country's foreign exchange, and allocates jobs for local labour. Also, ABS domestic strengthens the upstream industries, such as a vehicle and textile. The ABS plant construction is going to hold for three years in 2022-2025, in the Tanjung Buton Industrial Estate. The ABS plant has 115,000 tons/year capacity for emulsion processing, per the average ABS capacity in Asia of 120,000 tons/year. This capacity is to meet domestic needs and the Asia market. The ABS Emulsion Process consists of 3 stages Polybutadiene Synthesis, the grafting polymerization reaction stage and the product separation stage. The main design is the mixer-settler used to separate the remaining CaCl2 which is still present in the ABS. Technically, the separation process using a mixer-settler consists of 2 stages, namely the extraction stage occurring in the stirred tank and the separation stage occurring in the settler. The mixer-settler equipment was purchased from the Haohua Zhongyi Hebei Advanced composite Co., Ltd manufacturer with a volume used of 133 m3, a tank diameter of 18 ft, a total tank height of 24 ft and a rectangular settler used as a settler. The types of heads used are torispherical flanged and dished heads. The material used is Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics ASTM D3299. The resulting ABS product is transparent in the form of pellets as intermediate goods. The pre-designed economic analysis of this factory obtained a Return On Investment (ROI) of 33.17%, a payback period (PBP) of 1.67 years, a BEP of 32% and an IRR of 22.74%. The feasibility analysis shows that the ABS plant project is feasible. With the increasing industrial development in Indonesia, it is estimated that the demand for ABS raw materials in the coming years will also increase. Abstract

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a brain signal processing technique used to detect abnormal brain waves. EEG signal recording uses electrodes placed on the scalp. AD620 is used to obtain high input impedance. The EEG signal is amplified by transmitting the signal into the notch filter, high pass filter and low pass filter to improve the quality of the signal such as eliminating and reducing noise. EEG recording focuses on analyzing alpha waves to determine whether the subject is suffering from depression. For cases of depression, the lobes of the brain placed electrodes are the Occipital and Parietal lobes of the brain. The selection of participants in this study was based on the results of tests using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) method. The results obtained after recording EEG are there is theta wave shaped abnormally large and abnormal alpha wave who shaped abnormally large. Abstract

Teluk sirih feeder is one of few feeders of Bungus Padang substation (Gardu Induk Bungus Padang) with channel length of 30,6 kMS. The longer the length of a channel, the greater power losses and voltage drop occured in the channel. This study aims to evaluate and to reconfigure the system by reconstructing teluk sirih feeder in order to reduce or minimalize the power losses and voltage drop in teluk sirih feeder. Based on the results of the evaluation carried out through ETAP software simulation, the voltage drop of teluk sirih feeder is 18,995 kV and the power losses are 12,203 MW and 1268,111 MVAR. The voltage drop result doesn't meet the requirement set in SPLN No. 72 of 1978. In accordance to the evaluation result, a system reconfiguration was performed by reconstructing teluk sirih feeder with breaking the load and building new feeders. Based on the result of teluk sirih system reconfiguration carried out through ETAP software simulation, the voltage drop is 19,222 kV and the power losses are 12,287 MW and 1223,513 MVAR. The voltage drop result increases and meets the requirement set in SPLN No. 72 of 1978. Keyword : Distribution system, system reconfiguration, voltage drop

Abstract

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Early detection is the best solution for cancer treatment. The UWB microwave imaging technology is one of the most promising technologies in the field of medical diagnosis, because it is non-ionizing and low cost. One of the most important elements in a microwave imaging system is an antenna. Recently, the flexible electronic is used as substrate for microstrip antenna. This paper will proposed the design of flexible antenna for breast tumor detection. The proposed antena is designed using Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) as substrate and silver as patch. The simulation result shows flexible antenna is work at 5.8 GHz frequency with -25.27 dB value of return loss, 1.115 value of VSWR, 3.37 GHz bandwidth, 58.1% GHz impedance bandwidth and 2.68 dBi Gain. By using a flexible substrate, the antenna can follow the structure of the breast and can be placed in the breast for better breast tumor detection. Abstract

People who still do not pay attention to a stomachache disorder, due to the busyness of their daily activities. With this, many people experience stomach pain at an already serious stage and even difficult to treat. Due to lack of attention to early symptoms. With this we need someone who is an expert in their field, namely an expert. So that the problems that occur can be resolved properly according to the correct handling procedure. Expert systems can help deal with problems that require expertise in certain fields. One of them is in the health sector, especially in handling abdominal pain. This expert system is very helpful in making decisions, from this expert system can collect and store knowledge by someone or several people from experts in a knowledge base and use a reasoning system resembling an expert in solving problems. This research will use the Bayes theorem method because it fits very well with the existing problems. To test the accuracy of the testing data obtained by experts with expert system output, the appropriate output results are obtained with an accuracy rate of 94.44%.Keywords: Stomach Pain Diseases, Expert System, Bayes Theorema

Abstract

Geopolymer is an inorganic polymer material composed of Si and Al atoms arranged in a 3dimensional network (Si-O-Al) synthesized from aluminosilicate with an alkaline activator solvent. The use of this geopolymer can be used as a material for making lightweight concrete types of cellular lightweight geopolymer (CLG) which can be used as a construction wall for building blocks and brick red brick. This study aims to make a lightweight geopolymer based on fly ash coal using a foaming agent with the addition of sand, portland, and alkaline liquid activators and study the effect of adding cement Portland, and the amount of alkaline liquid activator on the mechanical properties of the resulting mild geopolymer. Making light geopolymers begins with preparing an alkaline activator solution made by mixing 10 M NaOH into sodium silicate with a ratio of (Na2SiO3 2.5/NaOH) to homogeneous, then the foaming liquid is made by dissolving the foaming agent using water with a ratio (foaming agent/water) 1:30, after which the foaming liquid is connected to the foam generator to produce the desired foam, then the process of mixing the raw material used is homogeneous. The mechanical geopolymer mechanical properties test results showed that the highest compressive strength of 2.15 MPa was obtained from variations in the amount of activator liquid 23% with the addition of 15% OPC, the lowest porosity 27.55% obtained from variations in the amount of liquid activator 23% with the addition of 15% OPC. Abstract

Biochar has a large surface area, and a high capacity to absorb heavy metals and can potentially be used to reduce bioavailability and leach of heavy metals as well as organic pollutants in the soil through adsorption. This study aims to determine the effect of adding biochar from rice husks to removal of heavy metals Cd in contaminated soil. Biochar is made using a pyrolysis apparatus with a burning temperature of 500oC for 1 hour. The dose variation used in this study was 10% ; 12.5% ; and 15% with 30 days incubation periods. The results showed that the highest Cd removal occurred at the addition of a 15% dose of biochar, so that the concentration of heavy metal Cd became 10.85 mg/kg with a removal efficiency of 45.45%. Abstract

Pekanbaru Creative Center is a place that has functions for education, sharing, collaboration, commercial, and performances that will become a forum for the creative industry community and the community to support creative industry activities while at the same time maximizing the existing potentials. It will later focus on facilitating the development of the 8 most superior sectors in Riau according to Bekraf (2016), namely culinary; craft; film, animation and video; application and game developer, architecture, DKV, performance art, and fashion. With the development of the creative industry in Pekanbaru it is hoped that it will become one of the solutions to economic problems by creating jobs. Pekanbaru Creative Center will be located in Pekanbaru City. The city of Pekanbaru was chosen based on the distribution of creative economy actors in Riau, 58.62% of which are in Pekanbaru while the rest are scattered in other Riau regions. The existence of the Pekanbaru Creative Center is expected to be a forum for the people of Pekanbaru, starting from students, freelancers, creative industry players , start-up actors and visitors from the general public who have the desire to learn and develop their work into tangible results and have more selling power. In designing the Pekanbaru Creative Center will use the Folding Architecture approach. Folding Architecture is a process of producing a formation in architectural design which is essentially experimenting to produce a form through a process Its application to architectural design uses paper characters and transforms them into a form through the Folding process and the nature of folding architecture. There will be 3 buildings which are divided based on the function of the building, they are the manager and public buildings, training buildings, as well as food court buildings and prayer rooms. The application of the Folding process to buildings will be limited by the concept of buildings, origami. Abstract

Fossil resources will be depleted and not a sustainable option for the future. Fossil energy needs to be reduced in use and replaced by renewable energy sources. Solar energy is an alternative energy source with photovoltaic (PV) because of its unlimited availability. The PV system can be placed on top of a building and the maximum utilization of solar energy and utilizes the roof area to reduce investment costs in PV construction. This study designs and simulates a Rooftop PV On-Grid System in the Electrical Engineering Laboratory Building, Riau University. Design layout using Sketchup Pro 2017 software and PV mini-grid simulation using Marlab R2016a software. The results of this study resulted in 144 modules with a module power of 250 Wp from the total size of the roof of the building used and the total power was 36 kWp. The output of the PV module will be continued with the Buck Converter series to reduce the output as desired. Based on the results of the power test with 1000 W / m2 irradiation, the power obtained is 35,850 Wp. The resulting converter circuit efficiency is 98%. The system is designed to be connected and synchronous to the electricity network, when the load is greater than the PLTS power, the system regardless of the load is replaced by the PLN Electricity Network.
