Abstract

Acrolein (2-propenal / C3H4O / CH2 = CHCHO)) is the simplest unsaturated aldehyde compound. The main characteristic of acrolein is its high reactivity due to the conjugation of the carbonyl group with the vinyl group. The uses of acrolein include protecting liquid fuels from microorganisms, making the essential amino acid methionine and as a good separatorand dispersing agent, widely used in the ceramic, paper and electroplating industries. Currently acrolein is produced commercially mainly using the propylene oxidation method. However, producing acrolein with glycerol as raw material is more promising in terms of cost and renewability. The effective utilization of the glycerol by-product from biodiesel production can reduce the cost of biodiesel production and thereby increase the developmentof the biodiesel industry. The main design tool is the evaporator (EV-101) which serves to concentrate glycerol to a purity of 98% as a raw material in the acrolein manufacturing process. This design is carried out in several steps, namely collecting data sources to support the establishment of the factory, calculating the mass and energy balance, calculating the network of heat and mass exchangers as well as analyzing and designing the glycerol evaporator and supporting accessories. The operating conditions for evaporator 101 (EV-101) are with a feed temperature of 107.7 ℃ and a pressure of 1 bar and a steam temperature of 200 ℃. The type of evaporator used is the Long Tube Vertical Evaporator.Keywords: Acrolein, biodiesel, energy balance, evaporator, glycerol.

Abstract

Sago pulp is a waste from the sago starch industry. Sago pulp has not been used optimally and a small portion is used as animal feed, the rest is dumped into reservoirs or around rivers where sago is processed which can pollute the environment. Sago pulp can be used as solid fuel in the form of briquettes. This study aims to investigate the characteristics of sago pulp and analyze the potential for processing sago pulp into briquettes. The result showed the calorific value of sago pulp was 3383,51 cal/g. This result indicates that sago pulp can be used as a raw material for briquettes. Keywords: sago pulp, briquettes

Abstract

Library is a room containt collection books arranged in such way, so it is easy to be found and used if needed any time by readers. In its management, Library still uses manual services. To facilitate library management process, Library Information System is created using PHP. The research produce an Information System that can make easier in managing process of information access, library data, member registration, book searching, and book booking. Initially, the library was managed manually in hardcopy form. And now, by using this information system so all data in this library can be stored in database. All reports can be printed out when needed, either seen in Library Information System. To use this system, all library members must register and login first. Abstract

Information is an important element in every fragment of human life that can be obtained in various possible ways. One of them is data mining. Data mining can form certain knowledge model and discover related patterns from sets of big data. Data mining application with association rules method and fp-growth algorithm can be utilized to discover variables that work on graduation rate. This study focuses on graduation, especially in the Engineering Faculty of Universitas Riau. Variables used in this study are the ways to get into university, the origin of student’s high schools, the high schools’ region, study majors, gender, age, time of the study, and GPA (Grade Point Average). The information displayed through the mining process is the value from support, confidence, and final of each variable tested. The result of this study is displayed on a web based and can be used by the dean and the head of study majors to cognize their student's graduation rate. Moreover, the result can be used for making a decision, such as quotation of student admission.Keywords: Data Mining, Association Rules, FP-Growth, Graduation Rate, Web.

Abstract

Biodiesel / Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) is a renewable fuel. However, biodiesel circulating in the market has the disadvantage of low oxidation stability. To improve the quality of biodiesel, biodiesel fractions are separated. The saturated and monounsaturated fractions have ideal properties as biodiesel and the polyunsaturated fraction has a very low oxidation stability which is undesirable in biodiesel. Urea complexation is one of the ways separating biodiesel fractions, and methanol is one of the commonly used solvents. As a parameter of the success of separation iod numbers are tested. The optimum condition for biodiesel separation is determined by the effect of the FAME: urea ratio and the FAME: methanol ratio. At optimal separation, the biodiesel iodine was 58.13, ie at the FAME:urea ratio of 1:3 and the FAME:methanol ratio of 1:3. The separated polyunsaturated FAME fraction can be used in the oleochemical industry and other processes that require a high degree of unsaturation. Abstract

The population growth of Pekanbaru City that increased in every year is the main factor of the increasing waste that enters the MSWD 2 Muara Fajar, Pekanbaru City. The garbage piled up in landfills will have a process named degradation to produce methane gas (CH4). This gas contributes to the global warming phenomenon but has the potential to be used as alternative energy. The purpose of this study to estimate the methane gas emissions from landfilling activities at MSWD 2 Muara Fajar with the LandGEM ver 3.02 software, and analyzes the potential energy that can be generated from methane gas. Based on the estimation results of LandGEM ver 3.02, total of methane gas emmisions from MSWD 2 Muara Fajar reached the peak in 2049 with values are 23.110 Mg/year or 34.630.000 m3/year. The total level of CO2-eq emissions from MSWD 2 Muara Fajar Pekanbaru City during the operation to closing (20182048) are 8,780,688 MgCO2-eq. The total daily electricity power that can be produce from the methane are 1,322,547.09 kWh which is supplied the daily electricity needs of 237,608 households in Pekanbaru City. Abstract

This article uses observations aimed at analyzing the settings for overcurrent relays and ground disturbance in the 60 MVA transformer. With the data obtained such as CB data, transformers, overcurrent relay specifications, ground fault relays, load data, and channel data used to obtain 3 phase short circuit current, 2 phase and one ground phase on the incoming and feeder side using ETAP simulation 12.6.0. For overcurrent relays that are on the Incoming side using the calculation of TMS = 0.19s while on the TMS field = 0.24s. The ground fault relay on the incoming side uses the calculation of TMS = 0.2s while those in the field are 0.24s. The overcurrent relay in the folding feeder uses the TMS = 01s calculation while in the TMS field = 0.12s. So the overcurrent relay and ground disturbance relays on the Incoming side of the field must be rearranged.Keywords: protection, overcurrent relay, ground fault relay, ETAP 12.6.0

Abstract

Topang Village is the only village in Meranti Regency whose territory is on one island. The source of clean water used by the people of Topang Village for drinking and cooking needs is water produced from rain harvesting, but the rainwater harvesting system in Topang Village is less effective and still uses traditional methods. Supported by the Raincyle Standard v2.0 program based on the roof's drip line which forms the boundary of the catchment area as well as water needs based on the number of family members of each type of house. Rainfall parameters have an influence on quantitative harvesting of individual scale rainwater obtained from hail Rain Cycle v2.0 to meet raw water needs in Topang Village, Rangsang District, Meranti Island District can use 2 tanks can contribute water the fulfillment of raw water needs with Catchment Area of 49 m2. Abstract

This study investigates the effect of the alkaline/FABA ratio and the effect of extra water/FABA on FABA hybrid geopolymer concrete with aditif of portland composite cement. Treatment of geopolymer concrete is carried out at room temperature without immersion. The variations of alkali/FABA used were 0.6 and 0.65, while the variations for extra water/FABA used were 0.2 and 0.23. The results of the test show that geopolymer concrete with a variation of alkali/FABA 0.6 with a value of 18.167 Mpa, while variations of alkali/FABA 0.65 get a compressive strength of 15.568 Mpa. In the extra water/FABA 0.23 variation, the compressive strength is 15.568 Mpa, higher than the extra water/FABA 0.2 variation, which is 14.617 Mpa. Kata kunci: geopolimer, hybrid, fly ash bottom ash, portland composite cement.

Abstract

Effata Shine Kindergarten and Elementary School is located in Rokan Hilir District, Riau Province. To manage student grade, school still use manual method of recording on paper each student’s grade. So that not a few paper are lost due to slipping or even lost due to accidential wasted. This research aim to help the speed and quality of teacher in delivery of information as well as processing student grades and parents can monitor children’s grade and children’s attitude online. This information system uses the PHP programming language, HTML Javascript, MySQL and CSS Web Server for system design using XAMPP. Software system development is created using the waterfall method. Login menu design consisting of perents of students, homeroom teachers, subject teachers, and administrators have different access rights according to their respective interests. This system work to enter dan store data, student assessment and student final grade reports, so that it is easier to find out student grades that will be submitted by the school. This research resulted in a value processing information system that helps the work homeroom teachers and subject teachers in conducting the processing of value of students in order to manage value can be processed more efficiently and effectively, so that student's value information can be delivered well to parents online. System interface views are also created according to the existing report view so that the system can be used easily and generates accurate value calculations.
