Abstract

The utilization from oil palm empty fruit bunches is still limited. One alternative to the utilization of oil palm empty fruit bunches is by extracting potassium hydroxide from the ashes of oil palm empty fruit bunches. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature and extraction time using the single-stage method on the yield of potassium hydroxide. The dry ash from oil palm empty fruit bunches is reashing in the furnace and sieved with a 200 mesh sieve then extracted using water as a solvent at a temperature of 70oC, 80oC, 9 oC and extraction time of 4, 5, 6 hours. Ash extraction of oil palm empty fruit bunches at 90oC and 6 hours resulted in a potassium hydroxide yield of 51.37%. The results showed that the yield of potassium hydroxide increased with increasing temperature and extraction time. Keywords: extraction, oil palm empty fruit bunch, potassium hydroxide, single-stage

Abstract

This research is entitled Application of SG Filter to Hyperspectral Image of Palm Fruit Head. This research is motivated by one of the biggest sources of livelihood for the Indonesian people, namely oil palm plantations. In measuring the maturity level of oil palm fruit in the next process, there is an obstacle in the form of hyperspectral data having a lot of noise. As a result of the large amount of noise, the hyperspectral image is not good. The impact is that the hyperspectral image cannot be processed and a program is implemented to overcome the maturity level of the palm fruit. The purpose of this study is to provide a solution to the problem of the amount of noise in a hyperspectral image, thus making the hyperspectral image smoother. The solution is to use SG Filter with the help of MATLAB software. The stages of this research began with literature study, data collection, method application, comparison of results, and conclusions. This study uses the SG filter to smooth the data with the help of the MATLAB program. The result of this research is a hyperspectral image model which is smoother without much noise. Abstract

The membrane is a selective and semi permeable layer between two phases, namely the feed phase and the permeate phase. Membrane synthesis uses silica for the treatment of Rhodamin B waste with variations of PVA 8, 10, 12, 14 ml with an operating pressure of 2, 3, 4 bar. This research produced a porous membrane. Characteristic tests conducted include SEM, flux and reflection analysis. based on membrane flux test and reflection obtained an effective membrane performance that is on the membrane composition of PVA 14 ml with operating flux at a pressure of 2, 3, 4 bars respectively is 20.68 L / m2. Based on the characteristics of permeability, selectivity, and pore membrane statistics show that the silica membrane is an ultrafiltration membrane. Abstract

Among renewable energy sources, energy from water in small scale water power plants much in demand because the operation is cheap, clean and environmentally friendly. Especially in low head, this type of power plants becomes the best choice for electrifying remote area in developing country and one of the best type is screw turbine. In this study the author will discusses the effect of differences inner diameter of screw turbine on the efficiency of the Archimedes turbine. This experiment using two variations of the ratio of the inner diameter to the outer diameter which is 0.1Do and 0.5Do at turbine length 0.9 m and outer diameter 0.25m and pitch 2Ro (the turbine length, outer diameter and pitch both turbine are equal). This experiment using variety of water flow discharge from 1.35 – 0.09 l/s and variety of angle of inclination of the turbine from 0o – 60o (with the addition of angle by 10o). This test is carried out to determine the efficiency of both turbine. The result of this experiment indicating the most efficiency achieved by turbine witch inner diameter 0.5Do which is 15.71% and followed by inner diameter 0.1Do is 6.85%. The most efficiency of the both turbine obtained on angle of inclination 40o and flow discharge 0.8 l/s. Keywords: Screw turbine, inner diameter, flow discharge, angle of inclination, efficiency

Abstract

Pekanbaru city development is experiencing rapid development due to population and economic growth, this has made land use become more dense. The construction of a dense infrastructure makes the process of infiltration or absorption of water into the ground slower. As a result of the development of infrastructure, the surface runoff is large and can cause flooding. An infiltration rate study was conducted to be used as a reference for conservation measures and overcome the problem of magnitude of surface runoff. Infiltration rate measurement using a double ring infiltrometer and Horton equation analysis method is performed to determine the infiltration rate. Measurement of infiltration rate in the field is based on procedures in SNI 7752: 2012. Calculation of infiltration rate analysis aims to determine the value of infiltration capacity and infiltration rate in the area under study. At the 6 research location points, the largest infiltration capacity at the research site 2 was 90 mm / hour and the smallest infiltration capacity at the research site 3 and 6 was 30 mm / hour. Infiltration rate analysis using the Horton equation method obtained the highest infiltration rate at study point 2 which is 76.38 mm / hour and the lowest infiltration rate at research point 6 is 18 mm / hour. Classification of infiltration rate was conducted based on the analysis of the total infiltration volume, the largest value was at point 4 at 27.46 mm with a constant decrease time at 1.67 hours and the smallest infiltration volume value was at point 6 at 12.73 mm with a time of constant decrease at 1.17 hours. Based on the U.S. Soil Conservation, at 6 testing points has infiltration rate which is rather slow and moderate.Keywords: infiltration, horton’s method, surface runoff

Abstract

Grab is a technology company from Malaysia that only provides public transportation transportation service applications, while the vehicle itself is owned by partners who have joined PT Grab Indonesia. The growth of online grab services in Pekanbaru which is so rapid and has succeeded in attracting many workers as drivers has become a phenomenon that needs attention. This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility of online transportation in the city of Pekanbaru, so that it can be used as a reference for people who want to join PT Grab Indonesia. This study uses 5 analytical methods, namely BEP to determine the principal return point, PBP to determine the length of time an investment or business returns, and IRR, NPV, BCR are used to determine the feasibility of a grab business. The results obtained from the feasibility test are IRR lower than the desired interest rate of 8,59%; 9,94% and 8,33%. NPV is negative, that is -118.156.430; -151.856.703 and -136.716.827. BCR value of 0,30; 0,33; 0,35, the BCR value obtained is less than 1. Based on financial analysis through the 3 methods, the business of grab drivers is declared unfeasible to run. Abstract

Bungaraya Subdistrict is one of the sub-districts in Siak Sri Indrapura Regency which continues to grow rapidly, starting with forest land and becoming productive plantation land as its population grows. In research conducted by the PPIG research team at the University of Riau, it has carried out mapping of Bungaraya District, the results of this study have provided the final result in the form of a visual form of the area. the distribution of land in Bungaraya Subdistrict, especially plantation land. Knowing the shape of the pattern of distribution of plantation land using the Average Nearest Neighbor method is a solution for monitoring land changes that occur. The purpose of this study was to observe and identify the distribution patterns of plantation land in Bungaraya District. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive analysis. The identified plantation areas are then analyzed using the nearest neighbor analysis or Average Nearest Neighbor. The plantation land in Bungaraya Subdistrict is measured by a straight line distance between the centroid point of the plantation land and the centroid point of the nearest plantation land using the administrative map of the Bungaraya District land area through the Geographic Information System (GIS), namely ArcGIS. Analysis performed using manual calculations yielded 0.8 results, analysis using ArcGIS yielded 0.820553 results and analysis using pyhton programming yielded 0.7998641226905585 results, then the results of land distribution patterns in Bungaraya District were clustered (Clusstered). To see the accuracy of the results of the three analyzes, the test was carried out with the Confusion Matrix method from the test, which resulted in an accuracy of 98%. The clustering pattern becomes a reference material for the local government to make policies regarding land management that occurs.Keywords: Average Nearest Neighbor, Confusion Matrix, Plantation Land, Distribution Pattern

Abstract

The temperature is one of the factors to affect the performance of bearings. High temperatures will decrease the lubricant properties, which its allow direct contact between bearing components. This study examines influencing of the temperature on the pressure of the cylindrical roller bearing and the thickness of film layer in the lubrication of elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) in the contact area. In this research was conducted simulation method by varying the working temperature at 30oC, 60oC, and 100oC. In this simulation applied the finite difference method in solving the Reynolds equation and the pressure-viscosity equation to analyze the EHL pressure and the thickness of the film layer formed. The simulation results were obtained at temperatures of 30oC and 60oC the thickness of the film layer and the pressure forming that were a safe condition. Howaver, the temperature of 100oC was revealed a quite risk (critical) condition due to the thickness of the film layer almost touches zero, which resulted the direct contact (solid contact). Abstract

Village letter creation is one form of village government service to the village residents. Village letter creation in Terbangiang Village is made by village residents that would visit the village office during working hours, then village officials would make a letter using Microsoft Word. Village letter creation in Terbangiang Village are still not optimal due to the relatively long service time, no standard format for making letters, poor administrative records, and writing errors. In order to maximize the letter creation service at the Terbangiang Village, an information system was created that helps residents and village officials in making letters. The information system make any village residents can submit letters online and receive notification via SMS when the letter is completed, village officials can approve and make letters without writing resident's data. System development is carried out using the waterfall method and is built using the CodeIgniter framework and is equipped with an SMS Gateway feature. The results of this research is an information system that makes it easier for residents and village officials to make village letters. Keywords: village letter, administration, web

Abstract

Fashion is a style of dress that is used every day, both in daily life or during certain events with the aim to support the appearance. Fashion education and training spearhead the fashion world. Pekanbaru City does not yet have a place or place to carry out fashion training such as modeling training, fashion warfare training, and cosmetology training which will produce talented generation so that they can perform optimally in local, national and international events. The fashion center can be one right solution to advance the development of fashion in the city of Pekanbaru. This building was planned using the Design Principles of Y. B.
