Abstract

Helical piles is one of the alternative to replace wood pile at a construction over peat soil. Determination of uplift capacity from field test in this research will be interpreted by intersection of tangent method. Uplift capacity of helical pile theoritically calculated using two approches design with individual plate bearing method and cylindrical shear method. This study compared helical pile used diameter 35 cm, 25 cm and 15 cm with variations, wood pile, and pile without helix. The result of the study confirmed that uplift capacity will be increasing with the increment of helix plate diameter and the number of helix. Based on the interpretation data from field test, the capacity of helical pile is closer calculation cylindrical shear method than individual plate bearing method which means uplift capacity of helical pile is derived from shear resistance along cylindrical failure surface and bearing resistance above the top or bottom helix. And other result confirmed that helical pile has the greater uplift capacity than wood pile or pile without helix.Keywords: Helical pile, wood pile, pile without helix, peat soil, helix plate diameter, uplift capacity

Abstract

Pekanbaru often get a power outage from PLN. It is make disruption of activities and learning process at building C of the Faculty of Engineering University of Riau. At building C of the Faculty of Engineering University of Riau supply of electricity from PLN and genset. Genset installed in the building currently only supplies the third floor of the building. So if the energy supply of PLN is dead then the second floor and the first floor does not get supply of electrical power from the genset.This study discussed about the needs and usage scheme automatically loads. Analysis of load usage based on need. Results of analysis are used to determine the priority use of the power generator. From the simulation results ETAP 12.6 are that the emergency power requirement of first priority is 12.8 A, second priority is 1.7 A, third priority is 1.5 A, fourth priority is 1.7 A, fifth priority is 1.7 A, sixth priority is 1.9 A, seventh priority is 1.9 A, eighth priority is 5.6 A. The user schema automatically load was simulated using Proteus 8 professional.Keyword: automatic load usage scheme.

Abstract

Power transformers is an essential equipment in the distribution of electricity to a substation, thus cultivated a power transformer to function in accordance with its design lifespan. The loss of life power transformers is affected by several important parameters. The Parameters is end of the hot spot temperature, loading operations and environment temperature. The method is gathering the data, data proccessing, and analysis. The results of the study showed a third hotspot temperature transformer in Garuda Sakti substations still within safe limits set by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard. Loading has a considerable effect on the final value of the hotspot temperature than the ambient temperature. Loss of life transformers in Garuda Sakti substations each totaled 0.00017 % of transformer 1, 0.0004 % of transformers 2 and 0.00023 % of transformer 4.Keyword : power transformer, hot spot temperature, loss of life

Abstract

This paper discusses about load shedding scheme using under frequency relay in Teluk Lembu substation PT. PLN electric power system. Load shedding is used as an effort to improve the unstable system frequency because of overload condition. Load shedding is expected to improve the frequency rapidly and the amount of load shed as minimum as possible. To prove the effectiveness of load shedding scheme used by PLN, do a comparison with the load shedding scheme using trial and error method. Simulation of load shedding is using ETAP software version 12.6.0. From the simulation, load shedding scheme owned PLN is still effective against the condition of decreasing frequency.Keywords: Load shedding, frequency, under frequency relay, ETAP

Abstract

Arc Flash is dangerous happening in electric industry system. The cause of the damaged could be from a mistake of the system or maintenance procedur. Arc flash can broken tools and death of the workers around them. In order for our safety, we have to really take care of this system to avoid the damage and the life our workers. In this project, we will learn and make a research more and get throught it, we will learn about arc flash in Gardu Induk Teluk Lembu PT. PLN Pekanbaru. Abstract

The direct solar drying model of the parallelogram cabinet type is a dryer of parallelogram shaped, which is intended to produce a uniform temperature distribution, so that the drying results can be uniformly and faster. This research aims to conduct an experimental study of direct solar drying, type of cabinet parallelogram shaped. The dried material was bananas, a drying capacity of 8 kg. Data obtained from this research was the temperature, radiation intensity, and mass reduction in bananas. Based on the data obtained, the average temperature in the drying chamber was 35.18ºC to 59.56ºC. The highest temperature of 62ºC occurred in racks 8 and the lowest temperature of 34ºC occurred in rack 1. The highest mass reduction was 0.301 kg occurred in racks 8 and the lowest mass reduction was 0.237 kg occurred in the first rack. Based on data, the higher of temperature, the mass reduction in the banana would be faster.Keywords: Solar Dryer, Mass Reduction, Drying

Abstract

The FTA is a method to identify the failure of system. Whilst, the DFMA is a method to determine how to design of product, which is purposed to increases the quality of product and make easily the product assembly process. The rotary friction welding is one of type of friction welding, that principle is both of surfaces by friction which one end is fixed and then provides axial pressure to against another the rotating surface until both surface forge together. The Rotary friction welding machine in Production Technology Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universitas Riau has some shortcoming, as sequences the welding results are not optimal. Furthermore, this research aims to overcome the deficiency rotary friction welding machine in the Mechanical Engineering, Universitas Riau, then identified the problems using the FTA method and redesign one using the DFMA method. There were several steps to conduct testing of the rotary friction welding i.e. before redesign, after redesign, and final testing, which was obtained a final better design. Result of testing indicated an average value of the vibration was reduced, on the x-axis was reduced from 15.34 mm /s to 15.44 mm /s, the y-axis of 20.04 mm /s to 17.94 mm /s, z axis of 28.58 mm /s to 18.58 mm /s. Then, the average maximum tensile strength of the welding specimen increased from 574.66 N/mm2 to 651.10 N/mm2, and the assembly efficiency increased from 3% to 5%. It can be concluded the redesign of rotary friction welding was better than before.Keywords: FTA, DFMA, Rotary Friction Welding, Vibration, Tensile Strength,Assembly Efficiency.

Abstract

The change in land use due to population growth affects the physical and environmental condition of the land. The information about the physical and environmental condition is imperative for the development of urban areas. The change in environmental condition can be observed based on the change of the runoff coefficient in Pekanbaru. The runoff coefficient value of an area is determined by the type of land use. In this study, a land-use-map which is based on the geographic information system (GIS) was used. The observed land-use-map was from the year 2006, 2012, and 2014. According to the land use mapping result, the plantation area was expanded from 18131.68 hectares in 2006 to 37364.58 hectares in 2012. The same trend occurred for residential area which was expanded from 11032.87 hectares in 2006 to 13461.17 hectares in 2012. In 2014, the residential area was further expanded to 15443.10 hectares. Based on the analysis results, the runoff coefficient in Pekanbaru City was increased from 0.31 in 2006 to 0.35 in 2012, and 0.36 in 2014. The division of land use was done by the area development (AD). The results show that the greatest change in runoff coefficient value occurred at the AD 5 which was changed from 0.36 in 2006 to 0.41 in 2012 and 0.44 in 2014. However at AD 1 the runoff coefficient remained constant at 0.55.Key words: Changes in land use, GIS, runoff coefficient

Abstract

Insulator pin post installed in an open space very coated ranges deposition of pollutants from the surrounding environment. Deposition of these pollutants will reduce surface resistance of the insulator, causing corona voltage (Corona Discharge). Corona voltage causing emergence of leakage current in the order of a few milliamps so that the insulator does not work well. The measurement method trough levels of pollutants using the equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) which measures the conductivity of the weight of sediment pollutants then synchronized with the weight of the salt in aqueous solution so that its conductivity is equal to the conductivity of the pollutant deposition. This study analyzes how much influence the pollutant deposition occurs when the corona so that it can provide information that isolator placement terms of level of pollutant deposition. The results obtained are greater the value ESDD or deposition of pollutants, the lowervoltage corona. ESDD Value 0.09778619 corona occurs below the working voltage of 20 kV. InESDD value between 0 to 0.01477054 largest difference occurs against voltage ac corona at a voltage of 23.24 and at a dc voltage of 32.82.Keywords: Insulator pin post, ESDD, corona voltage
