Abstract

This study focuses on improving production capacity in a plywood manufacturing company in Sidoarjo. In improving the capacity, this paper will focus on the industrial operation system. To be able to achieve the desired capacity, it is necessary for the company to observe and identify the problem that still going on the production site. Measuring company’s productivity and identifying the problem is necessary to understand why the productivity is not in the maximum condition. Processing time is not balance and need to be analyzed and balanced.Other alternatives are considering improvement thatincludes the standard time of the process which the data are taken directly from the production site. The best alternative to achieve the capacity improvement target are chosen based on  the percentage of the improvement, number of workers added, advantages and disadvantages, the logical cost for the improvement, and the most suitable with the work environments. The result shows that an addition of one work shift is a better option to improve the production capacity compared to any other suggestions.

Abstract

PT X is one of the biggest manufacturer companies in Indonesia. Achieving one of its mission—continuous improvement, PT X keeps on making the new innovations and solution breakthroughs for its business process. At this opportunity, the improvement will focus on the procurement and purchasing departments, responsible for the company’s daily transactions.The first stage in Value Stream Mapping is Current State Mapping, providing the activities of the current condition and their lead time. Next step is analysis, where all the wastes are identified and solutions are developed. Lastly, Future State Mapping is the continuation of the previous stage—generating the new process involving the new lead time.As the Value Stream Mapping is developed, it is found 3 waste categories, i.e. over processing, waiting, and unnecessary movement. Solutions are given to reduce those wastes and will reflect in the future state mapping. It is believed that the future mapping will shorten process’ lead time of the pre-purchase requisition by 33.25% and after purchase requisition by 28.17% for FSS and 23.53% for M&S category.

Abstract

PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam is one company that manufactures electronic equipment. Over time, there is an increase in customer demand every year. The problem that occurs is that the XS 156 production line is unable to meet customer demand. This happens because there is a bottleneck on the XS 156 production line. The location of the bottleneck is located in Resin Cells. Therefore, PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam plans to add one new resin machine. The obstacle that determines the unavailability of land used to lay new resin machines is that the land available on the XS 156 production floor is limited. PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam relates to the XS 156 production line to obtain land that can be used to install new resin machines. Congestion. PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam evaluates the number of operators found in the XS 156 production line. The results of the evaluation show that there are 5 operators over the XS 156 production line. There has been a change in the bottleneck on the production floor of XS 156. Resin. After replacing the engine, the jam switches to the Laser cell. The savings obtained from this project are USD 46,696.96.

Abstract

PT. X is aware the importance of continuous improvement, therefore the HRD Division, in contrast, HR Project Department created a program called Continuous Improvement Program – Suggestion System (CIP-SS). This program is aimed at improvements starting from simple things based on the 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke) culture. Continuous improvement are important to do as they will help the achievement of the Key Performance Indicator (KPI), which will ultimately assist the company in achieving its vision and mission. CIP-SS has been run from August 2017, but the participants are still lacking because there are still some departments with no participants. Improvements are made with the remake of SOP and forms, as well as the making of posters and held socialization. The number of employees who participate CIP-SS after the improvement increased from 163 to 233 participants, and the projects collected increased from 272 to 445 projects.

Abstract

The operational cost to operate paddle wheel with generator at PT X is very high; for daily shrimp cultivation each farm need 14 paddle wheels that use 24 hours electricity from the generators. Thus an experiment was conducted to minimize the number of paddle wheels operated. Naturally, pond water contains phytoplankton that carries photosyntesis to produce oxygen at noon. Photosyntesis processes need carbon dioxide to turn to oxygen at noon, on the other hand paddle wheel also need the carbon dioxide in the pond and turn it into oxygen. Thus the two are conflicted. Turning off the paddle wheels at noon then increase the photosynthesis process, make it more effective. The experiment results show that turning off paddle wheel at noon did not affect oxygen supply and the average weight of the shrimps.

Abstract

Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam is a company in an electrical field that has an issue about inventory control; especially Stock L. Stock L is a stock of raw materials that are in the production area. This research heads on searching the optimal value of Stock L as the first step to reduce the causes and determine the suitable days of inventory for PEL. Finished goods that are on PEL control are classified into their families and the optimal value of Stock L is obtained using base stock level method and company calculation. Both these methods are not significantly different from its Two Sample T-Test result. Using base stock level, the value of Stock L can be reduced about 60.59% while using company calculation, the reduction of Stock L is about 63.42%. The suitable DIN for PEL is about 3 days.

Abstract

PT. Ecogreen Oleochemicals Batam Plant (PT. EOB) has a variety of benefit schemes, but has not been doing employee satisfaction survei on these benefits. This research accommodating the needs by doing an employee survey at Rank and File and Supervisor Level. Survey results were analyzed using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). Results from the IPA shows the median value for all the interest benefit is six (very important). This indicates employees are not able to give the appraisal of importance wisely. Housing allowance, newborn child vaccination, position benefit, and the cost of prenatal care are considered important but the level of satisfaction is low. So these benefits should be the focus of improvement. In addition, the employee’s opinion also surveyed in connection with the plan to replace the medical benefit with BPJS Kesehatan. It was found that most of the employees did not know BPJS clearly so the socialization of BPJS Kesehatan is proposed.

Abstract

An aluminum casting manufacturing company has been adopted the quality management system ISO 9001:2008 since September 20015. Quality audit has been conducted three times, with the results of internal audits there are 17 minor, external audit stage 1 there are 8 minor, and external audit stage 2 there are 12 minor. Minor findings from internal audit and external audit stage 1 has been completed, but to the external audit on stage 2 has not been completed yet, but has made the analysis of the causes, correction and improvement plans.

Abstract

PT. X is one of leading company in manufacturing that produces the packaging plastic equipment for cosmetics. The company has many problems that are the highest prices of raw material and the rising pay for the operators, which has an impact on the production cost. Therefore, the company want to reduce the production cost by analyzing the production process. The methods that are used in this research are line balancing, motion study and waste analysis. The result of analyzing stage showed there are five problems, they are unnecessary process, over processing waste, transportation waste, line balancing and motion study problem. Some improvements are made based on the analysis result. They are scheduling mold maintenance, calibrating censor machine, changing the amount of the product in one-way transportation, reallocating the operators and improving the motion of assembly operator. The result of the improvement that has been implemented is the increasing of production output from 7200 products to 7400 products.

Abstract

PT X is a plastic packaging compay. Delay problem at PT X reach 31.4% of total delivery. The purpose of this research is to find the cause of the delay that happened in Material Preparation Control Department at PT X. The causes of the delay classified into two, there are start and process late. The root cause searched by 5-Whys method. The root causes of the late are human eror, machine capacity different between MPC and IMM-EBM, and production faltered. The proposed solutions are periodically checking and MPC production process calculated by Planner is adjusted to the capacity of IMM and EBM machine.
