Abstract

During this rapid development era with its huge development. The education and entertainment world also experience those wide range changes. The recent entertaining site provides less focus on the educational facility. Which is then leads to the situation that it is more and more difficult to find educational supportive entertaining site. As one of the major cities in Indonesia, Surabaya lack of attention to the needs of society in the field of education entertainment. “Surabaya Science Centre” Interior design is an education entertainment facility which somehow can help the people to develop better in the field of education. The main facilities such as lobby, ticket area, an areas of biologys, earth and space areas, an area of physics, chemistry area, cinema area, cafe, office, and souvenir shop area provided. The concept of “Imaginative Life” is the description of the life of the imagination game with the aim of being informative, educative, as well as entertaining. Interior design applied in Surabaya Science Centre is created based on a fun atmosphere, colorful and thematic so that visitors can change their mindset from boring science being fun and amazing.

Abstract

The design of semi-private space in the airport waiting room, especially on the island of Java is based on various considerations. The lifestyle of users changes of modern society, who spend more time conducting activities in public area. Make private activities can not be fulfilled maximally, hence the design of semi-private space proposed can answer the existing demands.  Also, due to the lack of application of natural wealth and culture owned by Indonesia in the existing design. The using of rattan material is one of Indonesia's high potential natural resources but has not been fully utilized. In addition to the airport has a large area that is still widely available, the airport becomes a relevant place for the design application because it is the main entrance gate and much traversed by people and tourists. The concepts raised for each region in this design take the idea of traditional cultural ideas, especially the local dance that comes from the location of the design reference. The concept is applied in the product of semi private space, work chair, table, lounge chair, stool, bench, lamp, and storefront board. The design results can provide different experiences, impacts, and meet the needs of airport users both in East Java, Central Java, and West Java.

Abstract

A culinar facility in Surabaya growing rapidly along with the many new cafes and restaurants in town. The culinary world itself can’t be separated from the cooking activities, and at this time not only adults are able to create delicious dishes, but the children also have started to love cooking and start to learn to cook by looking from their daily activities of parents, chefs in the restaurant, and also the television cooking program that is MasterChef Junior which is a cooking competition, but educational facilities for cooking for the children themselves are still less accommodating in Surabaya. Therefore the design of this cooking school aims to accommodate culinary educational facilities for all children who have a hobby in cooking, including children who are disabled because there is still little facilities that accommodate those needs.                 Brand from Masterchef Junior itself which is well known to many people it is very unfortunate if only provide the only competition facility, therefore the design of this time is a new proposal for the Masterchef Junior to provide educational facilities for children (normal and disabled) has complete facilities both from theory room, demo room, culinary and bakery laboratories, and other supporting facilities such as mini library, restaurant, urban gardening, mini market for the public so that people are interested in entering into and with the concept of Livable in Diversity creating a comfortable cooking school facility in spite of the difference of users (normal and disabled) in 3 aspects: ergonomics, sustainable, and safety.

Abstract

Based on our experience, indonesian in general tends to have a great emphaty when their loved one is ill and being treated in the hospital. This phenomenon especially occurs when the ailing family member is in critical condition and being treated in the ICU. The patients family tends to wait in the ICU waiting room throughout the duration of patients stay in the ICU. ICU waiting room is the main facility in the hospital to provide comfortable atmosphere for the patient’s family while waiting for their family member in the ICU. The comfort of the waiting room inherently connected to the availability of furnitures that will  satisfy its user needs. The furniture design for ICU waiting room aims to create furnitures that can provide comfort for the user’s various activities during their waiting period in the waiting room while conforms to the hospital standard of material and practice. The furniture design method used is the design thinking method with 10 steps, that is discovery, observe, empathize, leverage stories to discover insights, frame and reframe, ideate, decide, prototype, validate your idea, and iterate. Based on the methods above we produce 5 alternative designs which would have the same functionality for the various activities done in ICU waiting area in such as sitting and resting for long period of time while also providing storage space in high turnover condition. It is also hospital requirement for the furniture to use non-toxic, easy to clean material as to prevent bacterial spread. The existence of this design gives new ideas to improve patient’s family members comfort during their stay in the ICU waiting room.

Abstract

Surabaya has many career women. Some of these career women work all day so they are forced to entrust their children to the third party. Children between age 0-5 years experience Golden age periode. Children brains grow rapidly in this period. It will be a waste if the third party who handled these children is irresponsible so the development of children’s brain won’t be maximum. Day care could be the answer for the parents to take care of their children while they’re working. Day care will be designed with fun and ergonomic design that match the corporate identity of Bambini. This day care concept project is “Funtastic”. The design will use cheerful color such as white, blue, yellow, green, and white. This concept is choosen in order to make children happy and enjoy when they do their activities. These feelings make the children easier to receive educational material, so golden age periode can be maximized.

Abstract

The furniture for early childhood in Siwalankerto does not suitable with the anthropometry and not ergonomic when used for children with the age of 3-4 years old that have more activities which involved furniture. This experiment must be done with the study of anthropometry and ergonomically suitable for aerly childhood with the age of 3-4 years old in Siwalankerto. This research was ained to get the exact athropometry for 3-4 years old children and to decide the furniture size ergonomically, so that it would be comfortable and reduce the abnormalities caused by the failure in furniture dimension. This research used quantitative with the survey explanation format. The result of this experiment was the dimension of early childhood in Siwalankerto with the age of 3-4 years old and the fit dimension of furniture based on the anthropometry.

Abstract

Rooms that can accommodate daily activities in a multi-storey building are called apartment. The apartment has a limited space, therefore it cannot accommodate the activities of medical students who need a comfortable place to learn. Therefore, it takes a multifunctional furniture design that has high efficiency and comfort to answer user problems. The methods for this design are the following steps, empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The purpose of this design is to study and understand the needs of medical student activities that spend a very long time to learn can be contained in a multifunctional furniture and produces multifunctional furniture that has the utility for leisure, study, and storing things.

Abstract

Interior Design of Petra Christian University Student's Products Exhibition has the complexity of display product needs that must be fulfilled by the supporting furniture exhibition in order to be able to display the product with interesting and maximum. The furniture must have a proper, functional and practical value because the exhibition must be done with a short preparation for only few days event and it must  be able to fulfill the needs of various products. Based on the Kembel design method and using pragmatic and typological technique, turn out an exhibition furniture using a modular system with knock-down andn adjustable construction that can be arranged according to the needs of the product for vertically and horizontally display.

Abstract

Mankind increasingly thirsts to explore about what nature has at the present time. For example, Indonesian in the entire regions keep rare animal species which are protected by the government, the birds of prey. Raptor Club Indonesia is an organization that concerns with the fate of birds of prey in the country, and contributes to the conservation of birds of prey. To support the activities of Raptor Club Indonesia, the Indonesian Raptor Center is proposed to aid education, information, history, conservation and rehabilitation of birds of prey which have been taken from illegal trading and illegal pet. People from overseas supports the initiative to set up Indonesia's Raptor Center, in the hope that it can sensitize the people of Indonesia. The interior design presentation with knowledge, quality and adequate facilities is required to support these activities. Indonesian Raptor Center will be the only center of knowledge and conservation of birds of prey in Indonesia.

Abstract

Cheng Hoo Mosque Surabaya is a Chinese architecture that is identical with the octagonal roof arrangement that is, Pat Kua strengthen the character of Chinese architecture. This is the main attraction of Cheng Hoo Mosque Surabaya, especially the interior ornaments used in the mosque to be studied by descriptive qualitative method described by Panofsky iconography theory. This theory has three stages: pre-iconography, iconographic analysis, and iconographic interpretation.The pre-iconography stage describes the interior ornaments used in the mosque through field data and interview results. An analysis iconography explains the meaning contained in the interior ornaments used from the literature data. The iconographic interpretation discusses the interrelation of the building with the political, social and cultural conditions in Indonesia. The results show the uniqueness of architecture and interior ornate Islamic Islam of China, and has a philosophical meaning.
