Abstract

Cultural heritage buildings are buildings that have historical values that are associated with past historical events and are at least 50 years old. At present, many heritage buildings have undergone devaluation and are under the status of abandoned buildings due to the lack of maintenance. This interior revitalization design aims to reuse an abandoned heritage building in order to preserve it as a historical heritage. Through adaptive reuse of the building as a restaurant and gallery, the design aims to attract millennials so that the community, especially the millennial generation, can better appreciate the cultural heritage building not only as a place for dining and recreation, but also as a building with historical value. The method used is Design Thinking consisting of six stages: Discover, Observe, Ideate, Prototype, Test and Implement, with reports, design drawings and models as the design targets. The result of this thesis is a revitalization design of a heritage building with the concept of Vintage Millennial that adapts the atmosphere and facilities to the lifestyle of the Millennial generation without eliminating the Vintage elements of the heritage building.

Abstract

Early age is the most appropriate age for a child to develop their imagination in learning new things, but not many parents are able to see and take advantage of that moment.City of ‘Education’ as an image of the Malang City is the main reason for this design to be presented in the Malang City, so that children can be educated on the world of profession by playing. For this reason, a place like Kidzania Mini is needed in Malang Town Square that is able to present a professional experience for children aged 4 to 16 years with a smaller area.Design Thinking method was used as design guideline with the steps of understand, observe, point of view, ideate, prototype, and test. The basic concept of Kidzania Mini is a city park surrounded by profession buildings with a touch of Kidzania's character. The application of the character Kidzania is applied to profession spaces as well as statues and other decorations in the garden of the Kidzania City.

Abstract

American car Supercar timeless design is said to be due to changes in each generation American Supercar car, definitely will not change drastically from its predecessor and is also known as muscle car because the average American has a super car that had a big cc engine, the paradigm that considers expensive American car products, exclusive and rare, so people are reluctant to visit the showroom, therefore American supercar design gallery in Surabaya is intended to invite the public to know the ins and outs, advantages and quality of American super car. Designing interior design purposes the American supercar Gallery In Surabaya convenient and informative style that has a modern hitech facilities hangout, cafes, spare parts and repair shop. Hi tech style, used for vehicle types Supercar loaded with technology and to highlight facilitate the delivery of information technology. Cozy atmosphere in this design is achieved through the complete facilities and atmosphere of the interior. Because Supercar America is not like a regular car, the use of materials and new materials. Informative atmosphere is achieved through the use of LED display panel and display that shows information bias. Application of shine in the dark theme applied to colors, materials and formations such as the use of finishing an impressive shine and gloss black or dark colors to impress dark.

Abstract

There’s a lot events in the automotive world, especially Volkswagen clubs bring  the idea to accommodate all the activities associated with the brand. Volkswagen is a manufacturer of the oldest and largest in the world from Wolfsburg, Germany, and had begun to develop in 1937. Due to its age and history, Volkswagen became famous between people until they make their community. Surabaya which is the second largest city and is the largest trade center in Indonesia. Interior design of the "House of VW" have the concept of "Living History of Volkswagen" where visitors are expected to obtain information about the Volkswagen in the gallery space as a means of education along with the other supporting facilities such as café thematic and mini stores as a means of recreation.

Abstract

Boncafe Pregolan restaurant is a restaurant in Surabaya located at Pregolan Street 2, Tegal sari, Central Surabaya. Boncafe Pregolan restaurant built in 2007. The interior of Boncafe Pregolan restaurant is divided into several rooms, main entrance area, main dining area I, main dining area II, smoking dining area, and terrace dining. The aesthetic of  interior Boncafe Pregolan restaurant is interesting to be analyzed, because of the interior’s plays inside. The design principles implemented to the interior elements and their composition, also the furnishing. the interior design shows that there is not simply designed shows the existance of aesthetic process inside. The interior of Boncafe Pregolan restaurant is adequate to be analyzed from its aesthetic using the design elements and principles. The analysis method used is descriptive qualitative method by comparing field data with qualified literature data.Based on the analysis of its interior building elements and furnishing, the result shows that in interior of Boncafe restaurant , the use of square form, rectangle form, and the line elements dominates the space, the abstract form is the accent form for the space. Repetition of the form takes place to unified the space hamoniously. The use of the color for the entire space is a safe color composition, namely neutral colors, natural colors, red, yellow, blue as accent color. The use of neutral colors and natural colors are easier to combined and easier to be unified without any space chaos. The most dominant design principle is the harmonious of the space seen from visual rythyme of the interior building elements and furnishing. In Monroe Beardsley theory, aesthetic object has a whole unity that the object is perfectly arranged. The unity is achieved by the implementation of design principles, there are repetitions of the interior elements. Secondly, complexity or interpreted as harmony which shown from the windows pattern of main dining area II and smoking dining area. Thirdly, intensity or interpreted as focal point and not monotone. The stone wall stands as the focal point of the whole area and the use of alternation repetision and accent color on neutral and natural color, make non monotonic design. As a whole, the aesthetic of Boncafe Pregolan restaurant analyzed from design elements and principles achieve its aesthetic.

Abstract

Natural lighting is one of the light sources is very important for humanity, including natural lighting is also required to perform the activity. With appropriate lighting then our activities will not be disrupted, but the size of the sun is always different in each location, but it must have a standard retail lighting that can keep visitors comfortable when under any circumstances. This study was conducted to determine the size distribution of sunlight lighting the comfort of visitors.The method in use is descriptive qualitative, analysis by comparing the situation in the field, literature and simulation. The results showed that the lux value that already meet the standard, but there is still light distribution uneven that it needs assistance in order to be equitable. Desktop Radiance simulation is used as a simulation of natural lighting.

Abstract

“Interior Designing Bike Center in Surabaya” is an idea to built and provide facilities for people who love sports, specifically cycling, in Surabaya. Cycling is very popular in Surabaya nowadays.The most like are fixed gear bike and road bike.The designer covers the bike lovers with facilities such as a café, mini-velodrome track, indoor training or gym, clinic, bike store, workshop, offices, and many other facilities. Linear Design Method is used by designer, and produce visualization design space and a 1:50 scale prototype. Designer presenting mini-velodrome and many other facilities that peoples can enjoy with their community, the design itself is especially for communal activities, so every spaces are designed fot community, not individual.

Abstract

Interior design of youth talent performing arts center has a purpose to be a place to express artistic expression that is different among other places. This design was made for young talents, especially in Surabaya. This design uses the design thinking method that contains six stages. The site used in this design is the Dyandra Convention Center that is located in the middle of the city to get the ease of access. In this design, the designer uses the concept “Passion of Synchronize Expression”, where there are many expressions in an art show, but it must be synchronized to become an interesting show. The performing arts center provides spaces that can be used from the preparation of a show (training, preparation of decorations, make up and dressing room) and even for producing a show that is watched by the general audience.

Abstract

First of all, the palace is the official residence of the king (a head of state or a president) and his family. As we know, that the king is the supreme ruler of the kingdom (usually acquired as inheritance); a person, who is in charge to rule a nation or state. So, the place where he lives should be a majestic place. Many palaces anywhere but it impossible for palaces to have the same design and form.  Similarly, East Nusa Tenggara in the ancient time, it was well known as a region with kingdom era. It was recognized by an ancient buildings, which were occupied by the ancient king as his home that called the Palace. Those buildings do not have the same form and design. Thus, this study will examine the form and function of the space as this study is expected to broaden the public’s insight about the form and function of an existing palace.

Abstract

Stylish design shows a shape, characteristic, expression, behavior and human culture that produces a new idea or thought about the concept of style in artifact factors. Catholic Church St. Albertus Magnus in Jetis Yogyakarta is one of the works YB Mangunwijaya. This church building reflects the simple and open but still retain the details that contain profound meaning of the traditional values of local cultures. This study uses qualitative research. Collecting data through interviews, literature review and field observations. The data were analyzed descriptively, the aim to determine the extent of the application of interior design styles on Church St. Albertus Magnus Jetis both in the field of space-forming elements (floors, walls and ceiling), transition elements (windows, doors and ventilation), a space filler elements (furniture), symbols, and decorative elements. From these results it was concluded Design of this church still thick with the feel of Java but still guided by the provisions of the church building, according to the design style of the concept of Romo Mangun who make the Church a simple and not extravagant but still true to the design, the church is also inculturation cultural experience. Inculturation of the church with the local culture. Inculturation seen from the laying of the building, forming elements of space and space filler. While the design style of Romo Mangun visible from space forming element, the element of space filler and natural materials.
