Abstract

Santo Antonius  Purbayan  church  is  the oldestchurch  building  in  Surakarta.  This  heritage building of  DutchColonial  period  was built  in 1916  and  still standing  to this day, and  did not experience  much  changes  in the  architecture  and interior  aspects.  The building is  a historical evidence of an event that  has  the value of  architectural  and  interior.  The  stylescombination  of  space  forming  elements  and  transition  elements in  the  interior  is  very variative, that are  Art  &  Craft,  ArtNouveau,  Art  Deco,  Nieuwe  Bouwen,  and  also to  the European Classical  style  such as  the  church  building at  the first in Europethat  are  Early Christian  style,  Romanesque  and  Gothic.  The combination  of  various  styles  could not be separated  fromaspects of  function  and  meaning  of  a  church  and  has beenadapted to the local climate and conditions.

Abstract

One of the attractive media to attract people to the journalistic work of the nation is Museum Pers Indonesia. Meanwhile, in Surabaya, there is not a space or a special container that can accommodate and facilitate historical documentation written by journalists during the colonial era in Surabaya. Based on these problems, it will be designed a museum press storage Indonesian struggle informative, educational, and recreation for Surabaya people and create an atmosphere of museum storage space press the Indonesian struggle that tells the history of the press.This sceme raised the concept strait to the free want to create a design that tells a press trip in Indonesia which stems from unfettered and experiencing freedom. Basically want to create a storage space that can tell a press trip in Indonesia, with the lifting of vintage modern design style.

Abstract

Beauty and fitness center basically is a place for mind relaxation as well as for health care, especially for women. The density of activity in modern times has caused many women to be tired and bored. Therefore we need a facility that can accommodate all maintenance activities, not just the outer beauty treatments but also the beauty that comes from within the body. Beauty and fitness center is devoted to the women who need the opportunity for mind relaxation, also a facility to maintain health. By taking the concept of modern design but still refers to the cultural values of beauty and fitness center design is not only about beauty themselves but also help preserve the culture of Gorontalo area that is applied to the design of interior design

Abstract

Music is one of inseparable part in human life. In order to fulfill the needs, many fancy concert buildings are built worldwide, and sort to be an icon of the country which often being visited by foreigner or tourist. Samarinda is one of developing city in Indonesia which often held musik concerts. But with the limitness of the building, the musik concerts is often held outdoor and seems not optimal in acoustic perspective. Applied qualitative method is one of the method to be used for analyze these concert buildings. In this scheme, philosophy aspect of Dayak's culture is applied to promote Samarinda's local culture itself and be a special icon for the city. Acoustic calibrating is also done in this building scheme to support its vision as an optimal musik concert place especially in audiovisual aspect.

Abstract

Surabaya City is one of big metropolitan city in Indonesia that known as Hero City because of its historical battle value at the past that give a big role to the independence of Indonesia. However, there are few places that can attract people to appreciate the struggle of the past generation that fought for Indonesia’s freedom. As the city grows, so many shopping centers built as recreation center and the impact is that historical recreation is not attractive for local people anymore. With designing a recreation place about Surabaya in past time by using diorama concept that show the old town of Surabaya in the colonial age and adapt people’s modern lifestyle nowadays, the designer hope that the people, especially in Surabaya City, will appreciate more and have a good knowledge about history of Surabaya City and be proud to our heroes in this city.

Abstract

Design of Art & Craft Center in Surabaya Indonesia is means to introduce one of Indonesian art, which is Seni Kriya that is derived from all regions in Indonesia. This project is expected to attract the public to know what Seni Kriya  are, thus it will not be forgotten and be able to evolve as part of the creative industry in the international market. This design concept is "People's Park". Park means “a fun /entertaining place”, and people means “a population of a country ”, with the intent that this art & craft center will be a fun and entertaining means to the society. The concept implementation focusing on selection of natural materials, and space circulation that are connected to each other. The scope of this design include the Gallery as a major facility, the store / souvenir shop and workshops as a means of supporting.The gallery and workshop provides information and knowledge for visitors. Store facilities focusing on marketing, selling the craft products.

Abstract

Restaurant bussiness is one of the most developed and popular today, especially in big cities. Therefore, businesses are competing to attract the attention of the public, not only of the dishes served, but also the atmosphere and the interior of the restaurant is unique and interesting. One of the restaurant’s interior that attracts attention is the Dae Jang Geum restaurant Yogyakarta, because the restaurant is adapting very interesting culture, the culture of Korea, in particular the form of the Kingdom of Korea, namely during the Joseon Dynasty, established in July 17, 1392 and it is this that makes restaurant this looks interesting and different from other restaurants. The subject of this research focused on aspects of the meaning, function, and form the interior of the restaurant by using “descriptive qualitative” research method that performs a number of ways, namely interviews, field surveys, and literature. The results showed that the interior application of Dae Jang Geum restaurant get Korean cultural influence can be seen in the interior design and their functions and forms of decorative elements that contain a lot of meaning and mixed with Javanese culture, a little bit precisely in the main area of this restaurant, because it is influenced by aspects this neighborhood restaurant is located in the area of Java.

Abstract

The carvings and ornaments in Dayak Kenyah’s Lamin in the Pampang village have many signs that filled with meaning that is interesting to be explored. These signs serve as a representation of their beliefs and their social life. This study aims to reveal the meaning of these signs from the point of view of Peircean semiotics. Steps used in analyzing these signs is to group them into categories of icon, index, and symbol, then combined with the analysis of the meaning of denotation, connotation, and social aspects. The results of the analysis showed that the signs contained in this Lamin convey meaning, not only with regard to their confidence in the magic but also has a meaning related to social aspects.

Therapy Centre for Autism in Surabaya is a privately owned institution that engages in special education for children with special needs. The increasing number of children with autism is not matched by the number of school and therapy center for children with autism. In terms of the physical building, capacity, activity and space needs are still not sufficient. Abstract

Lighting is one of the important factors in interior design. The role of lighting does not only provide light, but also accentuates the aesthetic and the atmosphere of a room. It can also affect the image of the interior space. The purpose of this research is to analyze and find an optimal lighting design as a solution by using Banana Republic Boutique in Surabaya as the case.The methods used are qualitative and quantitative. The first step was observing and measuring the data in the field, using a Luxmeter to recognize the illumination rate of the room. The second step was  distributing questioners and doing an interview to know the visual comfort. The third step was doing a simulation with DIALux v.4.7 program. Finally, the result will be verified with the literature.The research shows that the field measurement using Luxmeter and simulation with DIALux v.4.7 fulfills the SNI requirement. Yet, the boutique still need to put the light distribution placement to a consideration as it is not well distributed, so that it will increase the aesthetic quality of the lighting in the store and will also increase the level of comfort for the visitors.
