Abstract

Institutional Repository (IR) Digital Collections in Unila Library is a restricted access collection, it is not directly accessible for users. Transactions such as whole collection information retrieval, printing and payment can be made only through librarians. Sometimes it leads to slow services due to the number of transaction requests queues from users. There were no system or device such as Kiosk that can be used independently for such purposes to minimize or even eliminate queue for librarians. Purpose of this research is to develop a KiosK self-contained system called Interactive Kiosk System (IKiS). IKiS serves for searching, accessing information as well as for self-printing transactions in Unila Library. IKiS hardware development uses hardware interface for input (barcode reader) and output (printer). IKiS casing made in accordance with the size and layout of the device as well as considering user ergonomics. Prototype method used for software development which focuses on functionality and user ergonomic. Data source retrieved from existing system data library which are IR collection on Eprints, ebook collection and ejournal collection on SLiMS. API (Application Programming Interface) is developed for transaction between data source to IKiS software. Testing is done on hardware, software, and both as a whole unit. Based on the test results, IKiS Print Mandiri can work well and meet the functionality required by Unila library. The research succeeded in realizing KiosK's self-service printing system tested on IR Library collection users of Unila Library. Use of the Web Service API and common computer tools make IKiS Independent Print agnostic against the IR Digital Collection system. This provides an opportunity for adoption on a wider scale as an improvement of services in the Library in general.Keyword: Index Terms—e-Kiosk, Institutional Repository, Library Services, Self-service Printing

Since then, the Dewan Latehan RIDAnow known as UniversitiTeknologi MARA (UiTM) has started to grow into the largest higher e/ducation institution in Malaysia in terms of its physical infrastructure, staff organization and student registration. UiTM alumni include individuals from all walks of life in Malaysia. With a total of more than 800 thousand graduates, the number of UiTM Alumni is the largest in Malaysia and one of the largest in the world. UiTM's electronic database system (known as eAlumni) only started in 2006 and almost 300 thousand alumni data are still in the process of migrating from personal files to electronics version. Realizing the difficulties in this migration work process, Alumni Network Center, ICAN UiTM, has put an initiative to introduce MyAlumni UiTM. MyAlumni UiTM is the latest addition feature of the eAlumni UiTM database system. It is an interactive medium that aims to create interaction and engagement among UiTM alumni partners as well as help UiTM identify active alumni. MyAlumni UiTM is managed by the Data Unit, UiTM Alumni Network Center, ICAN in collaboration with the Infostructure Department, PPII. This article will share details of work processes and initiatives carried out by ANC, ICAN UiTM in an effort to ensure the existence of engagement and empowering of UiTM Alumni. Keywords: Alumni Data, Big Data, Alumni Engagement, Alumni Information Technology, Knowledge Management

Abstract

Face recognition is a person identification system that uses a person’s facial characteristics. Facial recognition is itself a branch of biometrics, which is a science that uses physical characteristics of a person to determine or disclose his identity. The system developed in this thesis is a system that uses face recognition feature extraction based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA). This technique involves taking a major component of facial database. To determine the accuracy of human face recognition system designed in this final project, has conducted trials using the system with as many as 60 input facial image of the database. From the results of testing this system, the result is a 80% system performance in recognizing the input image correctly. Keywords : Facial Recognition, biometrik, PCA.

Abstract

ABSTRAK The design of Prototype development on lecturer presence system integration at IBI Darmajaya is a study used to monitor lecturer’s teaching activities based on days, hours, classrooms, and specific subjects based on the schedule made previously and results in up-to-date information on the lecturer’s teaching. The lecturer presence process at IBI Darmajaya has been using a presence application; the monitoring process on the record of lecturer’s teaching presence data becomes the responsibility of the official/ the Pusat Layanan Pelaporan Perkuliahan (PLPP) staffs for inputting the data into that application. This surely gives impacts on the performance of the PLPP department when there are teaching queues at specific hours and there is also inefficiency and inconsistency in recording the lecturer’s teaching presence. The result of this study is a Prototype of lecturer presence system integration with centralized database placed in each classroom/ laboratory in which it demands the lecturers individually to do the teaching presence at every lecture. Key Words: lecturer presence, prototypeof lecturer presence, lecturer presence integration

Abstract

The need for up-to-date information systems encourages web server service providers to build systems with high availability. One who needs it is the Online Shop Business and large-scale companies. The technique that can be used is implementing server clustering. Cluster Server is a technology that combines several resources that work together so that it looks as though a single system. Cluster technique that can be used to provide a system with high availability that is failover cluster. In this study, the failover cluster system was built using the VMware provided Vmware's FmFL failover feature. Failover cluster built consists of three physical servers with Vmware ESXi operating system. One server is used as data traffic monitoring and Shared Storage while two servers are used as nodes of the Failover Cluster which will be used to run the Guest OS. Each node in the Failover Cluster will be tested using a System Failure Scenario created based on potential interruptions in the company. Parameters measured in this study are Availability and Network Utilization. The Availability trial results performed using Vmware features called Vmware Fault Tolerance can generate a 94.44% Availability Value for 7 System Failure Scenarios. The Network Utilization value of 13,041.54% was obtained when the failover occurred between nodes in failure scenarios performed in a row. Keywords: Failover Cluster, Availability, and Utilization.
