Abstract

Moon eclipse and solar eclipse are two interesting natural phenomenon to be observed. Eclipses are among of the signs of Allah. It is him who put the sun and the moon in the orbit and moves with calculations that can be learned by humans. However, in addressing the eclipse events, there are differences among people. Some relates eclipse with various myths that grew up in their community. Some other believes that eclipse is a natural phenomenon that is closely related to science. There are also people interested in connecting eclipse with the viewpoint of Islam, that the event is a sign of the Oneness of Allah which can increase the quality of faith for those who want to take i’tibar or lesson from this event.Keywords: eclipse, myth, science, Islam.

Abstract

Corruption in Indonesia continues to increase from year to year. Corruption has become an extraordinary crime. Thus its eradication can no longer be done customarily, but it should be charged with an extraordinary way. Corruption can pose a danger to human life, because it has penetrated into various sectors such as education, health, provision of food and clothing of the people, religious life, and other social services. In Indonesia, the departments in charge of corruption are police, prosecutors and KPK. The task of the police in dealing with a criminal offense is doing the investigation. The task of attorney in dealing with corruption is also conducting an inspection, investigation and prosecution.  Then, KPK  is also  conduct  an  inspection,  investigation and prosecution. Keywords: task, authority, departments

Abstract

Riba is an exchange of Ribawi elements where there is a difference in time and/or quantity. The Ribawi elements mentioned by the prophet are gold for gold, silver for silver, wheat for wheat, barley for barley, dates for dates, and salt for salt. By a similar analogy, money is similar to gold and silver which is a modern way of exchange. Therefore a contract of exchange between the insurer and insured contains a Ribawi element, i.e. levels of compensation involving varying amounts and time scales. The strict prohibition of interest in Islam is because of the following reasons (Qaradawi, 2001 ). Taking of interest implies appropriating another person’s property without giving them anything in exchange, because the one who lends the other one dollar receives one extra dollar for nothing. Dependent on interest prevents people from working to earn money since the person with one dollar can earn extra dollars through interest either in advance or on later date without working for it. If it is happen to capital owner then they would not invest in the industry, trade and commerce, building and construction, as they will get extra earning without necessarily doing all of the hard work. Permitting the taking of interest discourages people from doing good deeds to others. If interest is prohibited in a society, people will lend to each other with a good will, expecting back no more then what they have lent. Riba is also totally prohibited in Islam because it tends to create unfair or injustice treatment between one party with another. It also exploits one by the others. In Ribawi economic the rich one tends to get more benefit compares with the poor one. The gap between the rich one and the poor one is becoming bigger and bigger as Riba have a spiral impact on increasing price for goods.

Abstract

Regular cycle of day and night due to the rotation of the earth creates a difference time regions. The earlier area facing the sun has earlier time than the western side (M.Syahudi Islami , 48). For example, when Semarang is in the time of maghrib, in Lampung maghrib has not yet come since it is in the western side. Likewise, by the times of sunrise in Lampung, the sun has already high in Semarang. The time difference is about 1 hour every 15 degrees of longitude, or 4 minutes for every 1 degree of longitude. The calculation is drawn from required time for one rotation (360 degrees) for 24 hours. This paper will explain about equation of time, mean time, universal time/Greenwich Mean Time, ad local mean time which are vital aspects for religious prayers, especially for calculating prayer schedule.Keywords: rotation,time, prayer

Abstract

H. MA. Sahal Mahfudh is social fiqh figure born and grown in pesantren. Social fiqh is the manifestation of his anxiety viewing stagnancy of fiqh pesantren discourse. Therefore, Kyai Sahal tries to stimulate pesantren’s fiqh discourse to be able to respond to the actual problems that occurred in the society. Kajen is pesantren’s village inhabited by many pesantrens. Kyai Sahal started social fiqh discourse in Kajen boldly despites the risks. In this village, ulama’s point of view is usually textual, absolute, and final in understanding texts in “kitab kuning”. Kyai Sahal tries to reform discourse of fiqh gradually. He develops fiqh discourse by proposing an effective solution of the problems of poverty and underdevelopment around Kajen. Kyai  Sahal  introduces  social  fiqh  discourse  in  Kajen  after  proven  its effectiveness in economic empowerment of pesantren. The younger ulama are the proponents of the development of fiqh discourse by Kyai Sahal. Kyai Sahal’s strategy has inspired society of Kajen to develop for the sake of development. Young cadres again become the main followers of Kyai Sahal’s brilliant idea. They study social fiqh of Kyai Sahal and establish research institutions to intensify this discourse. There are FK2P (Peantren’s Book Review Forum), ISFI (Progressive Fiqh Studies  Institute),  bulletin  Reesala,  and  Social  Fiqh  Institute  of  STAI Mathali’ul Falah Kajen. These institutions examine seriously the development of fiqh discourse introduced by Kyai Sahal. This young generations are active to develop the idea if social Fiqh. Hopefully fiqh of pesantren is not obsolete and able to answer the challenges of the future. Kyai Sahal is perceived not only as an expert of ‘kitab kuning’, but also an expert of social modernity. Abstract

Political parties serve as the wheel to realize that reliable national leader election is always interesting matter to be discussed. Optimism and pessimism toward the 2014 election color media coverage. For those who are optimistic, the existence of the institution of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), free from ‘political interest’, and the Supreme Court (MA) support mass organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah who criticize the state policy direction. There are also NGOs ‘contribution’ in guarding the performance of the government, and the power of the media as an element of the establishment of democracy. However, the result quality of 2014 parliamentary election is doubted by the public for: (1) candidates proposed by political parties are not selected based on competence, track record, and integrity, (2) the vision and mission of candidates are not well-publicized. Thus, their performance will be difficult to be evaluated once elected as a board member, (3) public control over the parliament is weaken, (4) the parties do not open up opportunities that enable them to adjudicate complaints concerning members of the parliament. Pros and cons in assessing the quality of the 2014 elections can be addressed to unravel tangled yarn. First, the cost of the general election needs to be simplified. Second, the state must allocates extra grant for the election to reduce the expense of elected candidates. Third, the rule of law is the key word.Keywords: identity, leaders, and law enforcement

Abstract

Early menarche or first menstruation in women earlier than usual is an interesting problem to be studied and investigated further. Changes in life style and increase in social welfare impact on rapid physical growth of children and then result on the shift of age of menarche. Physically, they have growth like adult but psychologically they are children. In another word, they are children trapped in the body of adult. In the perspective of Islamic law, women experiencing menstruation is considered entering the age of maturity. As adult, she imposes religious obligation and is responsible for her acts while in fact she is a child. This is among problems of women and their feminine problem. Allegedly, many people do not understand this matter and thus allowing confusion. Therefore, this issue needs to be discussed form Islamic point of view.Keyword: menarche, menstruation
