Abstract

Around the world, globalization of information access via world-wide-web(WWW) or more popularly known as the internet has revolutionary triggered new method and media of teaching instruction, including language leaching. On the other hand, computer software development has also enchanced the development of Computer Assisten Language Learning (CALL), a new way of language teaching. Over the post decades, reading has been taught traditionally, that is, throught printed passages and questions. It was not until recently that the using. Of interactive computer-based materials modules has been made possible due to the development of present technology. With the benefit of using module, learners con have the autonomy of managing their own learning and adapting their needs of learning to various elements in reading skills and strategies as well as adapting to the level of difficulty. In this paper an example of web-based developed reading module will be displayed This module was developed by lecturers of the English Deportment of Widya Mandala Catholic University Surabaya as a means of teaching activities and also self-study activities for the students.   Key word : web-based, module, CALL

Abstract

In the last decade Fourier series estimator in nonparametric regression (one response) a lot of attention from researchers because of its flexibility. In this paper will be developed in Fourier series estimator in nonparametric regression of two responses (Birespon). Data are given in pairs (t1j, y1j), j = 1, 2, ... n1 and (t2j, y2j), j = 1, 2, ... n2,. The relationship between t1j, t2j, y1j and y2j following nonparametric regression model Birespon: y1j = f1 (t1j) +  1j and y2j = f2 (t2j) +  2j Form of regression curves f1 and f2 are unknown and assumed to be contained within the space of continuous functions (0,  ). Abstract

Kebutuhan pemahaman yang benar dalam menggunakan pendekatan, metode ataupun teknik untuk melakukan penelitian merupakan hal yang penting agar dapat dicapai hasil yang akurat dan sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian yang sudah ditentukan sebelumnya. Pendekatan yang mana sebaliknya digunakan dalam penelitian antara pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif perlu dipikirkan dengan matang. Metode pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif memang berbeda, terutama dalam aksioma dan ciri-cirinya. Pada masa lalu, oleh karena berbagai perbedaan yang ada antara ketua metode, terutama dari segi konsep-konsep dasar serta berbagai asper dari masing-masing metode, maka biasanya hanya salah satu pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian. Masing-masing pendekatan mempunyai keunggulan-keunggulan yang apabila diterapkan secara bersama-sama diharapkan saling memperkuat satu dengan yang lainnya.

Abstract

Tulisan ini menekankan pada topik Peranan Filsafat Ilmu Dalam Perkembangan Psikologi. Pengulasan topik didasarkan pada penganalisaan pemahaman terhadap landasan filosofik yang digunakan dalam perkembangan Psikologi. Awal pembahasan dalam tulisan ini dimulai dengan sejarah psikologi sebagai bagian dari ilmu filsafat. Dalam perkembangannya, psikologi kemudian memisahkan diri dari filsafat. Sekalipun demikian, perkembangan psikologi dari dulu hingga kini tetap tidak terlepas dari pengaruh filsafat. Perkembangan psikologi sejak berinduk pada filsafat hingga perkembangannya kini memunculkan banyak aliran. Pembuka pintu bagi kemunculan banyak aliran dalam dunia Psikologi dimulai dengan jasa Wilhelm Wundt yang terkenal dengan strukturalismenya. Aliran-aliran psikologi modern yang kemudian muncul adalah behaviorisme dengan tokohnya John Watson, Gestalt dengan tokohnya Max Wertheimer, humanisme dengan tokohnya Maslow, kognitif dengan tokohnya George Miller, dan psikoanalitik dengan tokohnya Freud. Aktualitas filsafat ilmu dalam perkembangan psikologi sejak awal hingga kini diletakkan penulis pada landasan filosofik, dalam kaitannya pada perkembangan psikologi secara umum, khususnya masing-masing aliran psikologi, serta beberapa bentuk terapan psikologi. Benang merah yang tampil adalah perkembangan psikologi dari awal hingga kini tetap diwarnai filsafat ilmu, terutama dalam penelusuran bidang-bidang kajian psikologi yang lebih baru. Kata kunci : filsafat ilmu, aliran-aliran psikologi, terapan psikologi.

In this work, we propose the a-BFGS update. We show that under certain circumstance this a-BFGS update corrects the condition number of the Hessain matrix better than the BFGS does. It is a mutual understanding that the language curriculum implementation requires a highly collaborative dynamics to any existing changes in the society. The real commitment and consistence of implementing the curriculum, in the later, as one aspect criteria to measure its success.
