Abstract

Community access to forest management within protected areas has been strengthened by the enactment of a policy known as social forestry. Data indicates that the achievements of the social forestry program through 2025 amount to 8.3 million hectares, or approximately 54% of the national target of 15.3 million hectares. However, behind these program achievements, there remain a number of challenges on the ground, such as limited capacity among beneficiary groups, bureaucratic obstacles, and insufficient post-approval support. The objective of this study is to determine the level of understanding, participation, as well as institutional arrangements and support following the designation of social forestry areas in the Tabona urban village. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods, with research subjects selected using provocative sampling. Data analysis involved data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of the study indicate that the community’s level of knowledge regarding the social forestry program is relatively good, ranging from 73.3% to 93.3% across all measured indicators. Community participation showed fairly good results, with the percentage of involvement in some indicators exceeding 73%. The community’s overall perception of the benefits of the social forestry program fell into the “agree” category, with an average score of 34.2%. Institutional strength indicated a robust traditional-based internal system at 73.3%. Keywords: Social forestry, Participation, Perceptions, Tabona Village Institutions

Abstract

Abstract

High free fatty acid (FFA) content in Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is a critical quality issue that directly affects market value and export eligibility. This study aimed to produce eco-enzyme through anaerobic fermentation of papaya peel (Carica papaya L.) waste and to evaluate the effect of eco-enzyme concentration on FFA content and moisture content of CPO. Eco-enzyme was prepared at a papaya peel : molasses : water ratio of 3:1:10 and fermented for approximately 90 days, yielding a product with pH 3.8 and TDS 4,500 ppm. A completely randomized design with three concentration levels 10% (P1), 20% (P2), and 30% (P3) was applied, each replicated three times, at 60°C for 60 minutes. Results showed that eco-enzyme consistently reduced FFA from 52.72% (K0) to 41.17% (P3), with the highest reduction efficiency of 21.90%. Moisture content increased proportionally from 0.57% (K0) to 0.647% (P3). Statistical analysis confirmed significant treatment effects on both parameters (p<0.05). This study demonstrates that papaya peel eco-enzyme exhibits measurable biocatalytic activity on CPO and holds potential as a green technology alternative in palm oil processing. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the marketing approach used by UD. Daffa Keripik in Lau Dendang Village, Deli Serdang Regency and to formulate appropriate business development steps based on a SWOT analysis. The method used in this study is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and distribution of questionnaires to selected informants using the snowball sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) matrix, External Factor Evaluation (EFE) matrix, and SWOT analysis. The findings of the study indicate that the IFE value is 2.8 and the EFE value is 2.9, which places the business in Quadrant I. This position indicates that UD. Daffa Keripik has internal strengths that can be utilized to maximize external opportunities. Therefore, the recommended strategy is the SO (Strengths-Opportunities) strategy that focuses on business development. This strategy includes product development based on consumer needs, continuous product quality improvement, brand strengthening, design innovation and packaging variations, and improving product quality control. The implementation of this strategy is expected to increase competitiveness, expand market share, enhance customer loyalty, and encourage sustainable business growth.
