Cannarium is a journal of agricultural sciences. It is a peer-reviewed, scientific journal published by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Khairun Indonesia. Cannarium journal aims at publishing original, scientifically research articles and article review that describe and explain a wide range of agricultural fields and disciplines including Agronomy, Horticulture, plant breeding, plant protection, Agribusiness, Agroindustry, Food Science, Soil Science, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences, bioenergy, Animal Husbandary and other pertinent related to tropical islands-based biodiversity, agricultural sustainability, and ecosystem services. The applications of new molecular, microscopic, and analytical techniques to understanding and explaining population and community dynamics are also of great interest. Cannarium is published twice a year in both print and online versions Cannarium publishes under the cooperation Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Khairun. Abstract

AbstractCommunity forests represent a form of community-based forest resource management that significantly contributes to local economic income, ecological conservation, and climate change mitigation. Cidokom Village, Rumpin Sub-district, Bogor Regency, holds great potential for community forest development. However, data on the horizontal stand structure of community forests in this area remains limited. This study aims to analyze the horizontal stand structure, distribution, and abundance of tree species in the community forests of Cidokom Village to support sustainable management planning. The results show that planting patterns in Cidokom Village's community forests vary, combining timber-yielding trees, fruit trees, and seasonal crops. Timber-yielding species preferred by landowners include sengon and jabon. High tree density in smaller diameters is attributed to inadequate planting spacing and natural regeneration. The horizontal stand structure follows a negative exponential model with an inverted-J pattern, indicating normality for uneven-aged forests, typical of community forests in the study area. This research is expected to enhance the ecological and economic contributions of community forests while serving as a reference for management in other areas with similar characteristics.Keywords: Planting spacing, species composition, tree distribution.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction between the different concentrations of starter L. bulgaricus and mulu bebe banana puree on the characteristics of sibiotic yogurt, to determine the effect of different L. bulgaricus.This study aims to determine the interaction between the different concentrations of starter L. bulgaricus and mulu bebe banana puree on the characteristics of synbiotic yogurt, to determine the effect of different L. bulgaricusstarter concentrations on the characteristics of synbiotic yogurt, to determine the effect of different mulu bebe bananas on the characteristics of synbiotic yogurt. This research was conducted in September - January 2021. The test is a chemical test. The purpose of this study was to find out the characteristics of yogurt with the addition of banana puree mulu bebe and different concentrations of L. bulgaricus and look at the interaction influence of each - each treatment of banana puree addition and starter concentration with a fermentation duration of 72 hours. This research is an experimental study using complete randomized design (RAL) factorial, the first factor is the concentration of L. bulgaricus and the second factor of banana puree with 16 levels of perlakua and 3 repeats with each starter concentration L. bulgaricus A1 0, A2 2.5, A3 5, A4 7.5, Puree banana B1 0 ml, B2 2 ml, B3 4 ml, B4 6 ml. If there is a difference in influence between the treatment of each factor, then it is continued with Duncan's test. The observed parameters include: rendemen, pH, water content, ash content, and protein content. The results of this study showed banana puree and L. bulgaricus concentration had a real effect (P0.05) on rendemen, ash content, protein content. While the water content has no real effect (P0.05). The interaction between factors A and B in Duncan's advanced test had a significant effect including rendemen, protein levels and ash levels to the characteristics of yogurt.

Abstract

Indonesia has a diverse of new and renewable energy sources including biofuels. Biofuels are promising eco-friendly energy sources generated from biological raw materials. Biofuels can also be derived from the seeds of  Capilong trees. However, the occurrence of Capilong trees in North Maluku has not been tapped to support a local economic income due to the lack of knowledge  of the local community. The present study was undertaken with the aim at investigating the distribution and number of Capilong trees across Ternate Island. A field investigation using a census method was held to collect data on the number and distribution of Capilong trees while observing the following parameters: stage of growth, topography, rock materials and landforms. The findings revealed that Capilong trees are mostly occurred in a tree group, while the seedling population number was low. Interestingly, Capilong trees have demonstrated a natural characteristic that are tolerance to various topography, rock materials and landforms condition. It is therefore recommended to cultivate the plant through a community development program and classify the plant as a potential species that can be used for land rehabilitation programs.

Abstract

Optimasi rendemen minyak kelapa telah dilakukan pada ekstraksi dengan metode wet rendering. Interaksi dua faktor dalam ekstraksi santan dipelajari menggunakan 250-750 mL air dengan suhu 28-65oC. Percobaan dilakukan menggunakan Response Surface Methodology (RSM) dengan Central Composite Design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suhu air berpengaruh tidak nyata (p0,05) terhadap rendemen minyak, tetapi jumlah air dan interaksinya keduanya berpengaruh nyata (p0,05). Rendemen tertinggi 14,48% diperoleh pada ekstraksi menggunakan kombinasi jumlah dan suhu air sebesar 750 mL dan 28oC. Model persamaan yang cocok adalah 2FI, yaitu Rendemen (%) = 10,66 + 0,2338 A + 2,72 B – 2,10 AB (A = suhu air, oC; B = jumlah air, mL).

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu produsen kayu bulat terbesar dunia, namun belum menjadi pengekspor utama kayu olahan. Di Jawa Timur, khususnya Kabupaten Jember, kayu sengon menjadi komoditas kayu utama yang mendorong tumbuhnya industri pengolahan veneer, seperti CV Plywood Indonesia di Kecamatan Kalisat. Industri ini menghadapi permasalahan pengelolaan bahan baku, yaitu kelebihan maupun kekurangan stok kayu sengon yang berdampak pada kelancaran produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis estimasi kebutuhan bahan baku, tingkat pemesanan ekonomis, persediaan pengaman, persediaan maksimum, serta titik pemesanan kembali kayu sengon. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), Safety Stock, dan Reorder Point. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa estimasi kebutuhan bahan baku sebesar 2.057 m³ per bulan, dengan pemesanan ekonomis sebanyak 188 m³ sebanyak 11 kali pemesanan per bulan. Safety Stock sebesar 305 m³ dan maksimum persediaan 493 m³ masih berada dalam kapasitas gudang. Nilai Reorder Point sebesar 373 m³ dapat menjadi acuan dalam menentukan waktu pemesanan kembali. Penerapan strategi ini dapat menekan biaya penyimpanan dan menghindari kerugian akibat kelebihan maupun kekurangan stok bahan baku.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui ketersedian pakan,  ketersediaan nutrien asal pakan dan daya tampung ternak sapi pada Kecamatan Gebe, Kabupaten Halmahera Tengah. Metode penentuan contoh di Kecamatan Gebe ditentukan dengan pengambilan contoh secara sengaja: desa yang memiliki ternak sapi potong yang tertinggi (Desa Kacepi), terendah (Desa Umera) dan sedang (Desa Sanafmamin). Metode penelitian yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini antara lain Rapid Rural Apprasial (RRA) dilakukan melalui wawancara semi terstruktur terhadap 150 responden; dan perkiraan/pengukuran daya dukung padang penggembalaan pada  setiap lokasi penelitian memakai metode cuplikan ubinan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan responden di lokasi penelitian berprofesi sebagai peternak dan mempunyai pengalaman beternak yang bervariasi antara 3 hingga  11 tahun. Berdasarkan analisis daya dukung hijauan pakan ternak sapi potong sesuai nilai nutrisi bahan kering, Desa Sanafmamin lebih potensial dengan potensi pengembangan jumlah populasi sebanyak 110 UT, menggunakan kapasitas peningkatan populasi sebesar 75,47%. Desa Kacepi menempati posisi kedua dengan potensi pengembangan populasi sebanyak 105 UT dan kapasitas peningkatan 18%. Sementara itu, Desa Umera paling sedikit, namun masih dapat menampung 39 UT dengan kapasitas peningkatan 6,4%. Kata kunci: Analisis, Daya Tampung, Sapi Potong

Abstract

Local chicken is one of the biodiversity that has a significant role in maintaining ecosystem  sustainability. Ternate City is one of the regions in Indonesia. Which has a high and typical variety of local chicken. This study aims to determine genetic diversity based on the qualitative traits and morphology of local Kampong Chickens in the city of Ternate, as the basis for efforts to develop local superior livestock. This research was conducted in April to June 2019, the district of Jambula, Kastela, Rua, Taduma, Loto dan Tugafo. The study was conducted using purposive sampling method. The qualitative and morphological characteristics of the 60 samples, namely 30 males and 30 females, had different characters in males and females, but of all the coat colors were more dominant in black coat color, yellowish-white  shank color, red comb color, pea comb shape, white ear color and reddish yellow eye color. While the highest body size character of male and female local chicken was found in the femur length of male chicken which was 144,90 %

Abstract

Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni  ) adalah tanaman yang dikenal dengan kandungan steviol glikosida, senyawa pemanis alami rendah kalori. Perkembangannya di Indonesia sudah ada sejak tahun 1977 dan penelitian terkait dengan kebermanfaatannya terus dilakukan. Artikel ini merupakan sebuah tinjauan pustaka (literature review) menggunakan literatur terkini yaitu dalam rentang tahun 2015-2024 yang membahas potensinya sebagai pemanis alami yang sehat meliputi komposisi kimia, manfaat kesehatan, serta tantangan dalam aplikasinya. Berdasarkan review literatur, bahwa tanaman Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni terbukti efektif dalam mendukung pengelolaan diabetes, obesitas, dan hipertensi. Nilai komersial dari aplikasi tanaman ini cukup besar sehingga berpotensi untuk terus dikembangkan. Meskipun demikian, hambatan seperti rasa aftertaste pahit dan variasi hasil ekstraksi menurut penulis akan menemukan solusi dengan semakin berkembangnya teknologi proses yang ada.

Abstract

Nugget is one of food product mostly made from meat that widely liked by people in all ages especially by children. It is easily to modify the ingredients thus it has many varieties. This research was aimed to evaluate the effect  of Moringa oleifera L leaf flour fortification on chicken nuggets in terms of physical and organoleptic qualities. The data of physical qualities (cooking loss and tenderness) and organoleptic qualities (texture and taste) were analyzed for variance completely randomized design followed by the least significant different test (LSD). The results showed that Moringa oleifera leaf flour fortification on chicken nugget affected the tenderness and taste of it, but it had no effect on the cooking loss and texture qualities. Chicken nugget with addition of 1% Moringa oleifera leaf flour was the best product of all.Keywords: physical qualities, organoleptic qualities, fortification, Moringa oleifera leaf  flour, chicken nugget

Abstract

This research aims to determine the sensory quality (color, texture, aroma and taste) of chicken nuggets added with taro flour. This research was carried out at the Animal Husbandry Study Program Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Khairun University, from June to August 2023. This research used a Unidirectional Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The data obtained was analyzed using Variety Print Analysis. The results of the research showed that chicken nuggets with the addition of taro flour had a very real effect when viewed from the highest average color in the P0 treatment, namely 3.77, the highest average texture in the P4 treatment, namely 3.69, the highest aroma was in the P4 treatment, namely 4.17 and the highest average taste. in the P0 treatment, namely 4.07.
