The sample used was a student who had experienced menstruation, dysmenorrhea and stress, not smoking, not drinking alcohol, not having diseases associated with female reproductive organs, L-MMPI scores with the answer "No" ≤ 10, and willing to be respondent and approved informed consent. Sampling was done by purposive sampling after selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The dependent variable in this study is the degree of dysmenorrhea, while the independent variable is the level of stress. Research subjects fill (1) the informed consent form and personal data, (2) L-MMPI questionnaire to determine the honesty of respondents in filling out the questionnaire, (3) DASS questionnaire to determine the level of stress, and (4) Questionnaires to determine the degree of dysmenorrhea. Data obtained by 92 research subjects and analyzed using Chi-square test followed by correlation Somersd. Results : From the analysis of data with numbers of significance α = 0.05 was obtained value of p = 0.022 (p <0.05) with correlation by 0.238. Conclusions : Statistically, there is a significant association with a weak correlation between stress levels with the degree of dysmenorrhea on female students at SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta. Combined oral pills contraception causes increased body fat so it can increase the estrogen production by the conversion of androstenedione in peripheral adipose, while non-hormonal contraception (Intra Uterine Device/IUD) does not have such a mechanism, but it may lead to perforation and Pelvic Inflamatory Disease (PID) which can damage womens reproductive organs. Methods: A cross sectional, observational analytic was conducted, in which the sampling technique was two stage cluster random sampling. The sample was 60 postmenopausal women aged 48-59 years old, consisting of 30 women as combined oral pills acceptors and 30 women as non-hormonal acceptors (IUD). This study was conducted in June-July 2014 in Jebres Districts, Surakarta. Data was analyzed by independent t-test by comparing the mean value of onset menopause of the two groups. Results: The results of the independent t-test showed a significant differences between the two groups with p = 0.026, t = 2.290, and 95% CI. The mean value of onset menopause of the combined oral pills acceptors is higher than non-hormonal acceptors (IUD). Conclusions: There are differences of onset menopause were statistically significant between the combined oral pills acceptors and non-hormonal acceptors in Jebres District, Surakarta. Combined oral pills acceptors had a mean onset of menopause is higher than non-hormonal acceptors. Keywords: onset of menopause, contraception, combined oral pills, non hormonal, IUD

Abstract

Background: Breastfeeding patterns can affect the growth of infant. Exclusive breastfeeding can provide enough nutritions for infant growth until the age of 6 months. The purpose of the research was to know the difference of increment of length and weight gain between infants aged 2-6 months who received exclusive breastfeeding and those who received non exclusive breastfeeding in regional primary health center in Pajang. Methods: This was an analytic observational study with cross sectional approach, using simple random sampling technique. The number of the samples was 60 infants aged 2-6 months from some Posyandu (integrated health service units) in the neighborhood of regional Primary Health Center in Pajang in May-July 2014. Increment of length and weight gain data obtained by measuring the difference between current length and weight and those at birth then divided by infants’ age. Breastfeeding pattern was derived from the questionnaire. Data were analyzed using statistical test Mann Whitney and Independent t-test. Results: The test result for increment of length among infant aged 2-6 months who received exclusive breastfeeding and those who received non exclusive breastfeeding using a statistical test Mann Whitney showed the value of p=0,025. The test result for increment of weight gain among infant aged 2-6 months who received exclusive breastfeeding and non exclusive breastfeeding using Independent t-test showed the value of p=0,002. Conclusions: There is significant difference of increment of length between infants aged 2-6 months who received exclusive breastfeeding and those who received non exclusive breastfeeding in Regional Primary Health Center in Pajang and there is significant difference of increment of weight gain between infants aged 2-6 months who received exclusive breastfeeding and those who received non exclusive breastfeeding in Regional Primary Health Center in Pajang. Abstract

Backgrounds: Most of Medical Students have a poor sleep quality due to their academic tasks during their study. This poor sleep quality has a role in the pathogenesis of pain, including primary dysmenorrhea. This study aims to know the relationship between sleep quality and the prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea on Medical Students of Sebelas Maret University. Methods: This study was an analytical observational research with a cross sectional approach. Subjects were selected by purposive sampling and obtained 88 Medical Students of Sebelas Maret University as a sample. Each respondent filled in: (1) Informed consent and biodata form; (2) Questionnaire about dysmenorrhea and its degree; (3) Menstrual Symptom Questionnaire (MSQ); and (4) Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The collected data were analyzed using the Fisher’s Exact Test and then processed with prevalence ratio calculation to determine the relationship between sleep quality and prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea. To know the relationship between sleep quality and the degree of primary dysmenorrhea, the data were then analyzed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Results: Among the 88 students, 76% had poor sleep quality, 77 % had primary dysmenorrhea with 52.3 % mild, 23.9 % moderate, and 1.1 % severe degree. Using Fisher’s Exact Test, the study found a significant relationship between sleep quality and prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea with (p) = 0.001. Based on the calculation, the prevalence ratio was 2.35 with Confidence of Interval 1.35 – 4.08. Using Kolmogorov Smirnov Test, there was significant relationship between sleep quality and the degree of primary dysmenorrhea, with the value of (p) = 0.001. Conclusions: Statistically, there is a significant relationship between sleep quality and primary dysmenorrhea problem including its prevalence and degree in the medical Students of Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. Students with poor sleep quality had a risk of 2.35 times more to had primary dysmenorrhea than the ones with good sleep quality. Keywords: primary dysmenorrhea, sleep quality, medical student
