Study on transmission and spread of purifying ideas in 17th and 18th centuries focuses on the role of ulama, that Azyurmadi specifically stress on the importance of Tasawuf and rationality. He opines the tasawuf is one of the other side of Islam. Shariah and Fiqh are on one side, while the second side is tasawuf. Islamization would be perfect if both sides are combined together; the fiqh and the tasawuf. If mankind only stresses on one of them, let‟s say fiqh only, the plurality of human life will be brought to the legalistic tendencies. Therefor. the mystical understanding on religious teaching is required. That is why Azyumardi highly appreciates zikir and alike that make mankind become closer to Allah.

IAIN Ar-Raniry is an educational institute that carries on both knowledge and Islamic missions. Both aspects are gauge to measure the development of knowledge performed by the institute. Islamic scholar ethic is another measurement for academic commitment on religious values. For that, the development of knowledge at the institute can be gauged from the productivity of the academic, a side of the quality. While the commitment to preserve and to implement the Islamic ethics, can be witness from the originality of their works. To the best of writer‟s observation, the level of productivity seems relatively under expectation, while the ethic on the other hand, is seemingly preserved by academic of the Institute.

Transformation is a rapid and spectacular change in religion, social, politic and culture of society. The change happens whenever a culture assimilates to another culture. As consequence, social and cultural life of receiver culture will follow to change. Before technology influences and become undivided from the life of community, traditional community was identical with agrarian. Since the machine was invented, life then turns to be consumptive individualist. Transformation may be meant either positive or negative, which is depended on the way the community live. Transformation in religion may increase perfect realisation so that people may take care more on the people in need, which is in line with religious order as Islam explains. Social transformation also could increase community’s work ethic as life now become more dynamic.

The history of western philosophy is coloured by a long debate between rationalism and empiricism. Immanuel Kant then came to synthesise the very contradictive thought. Kant tried to establish a philosophical system to overcome extremities of both rationalism and empiricism. The effort was to differentiate knowledge produced by rationalism from empiricism. Experience, which is the source of knowledge from empiricism perspective, produces a new knowledge (synthesis), but it is not in general knowledge. While ratio is capable of building a general knowledge (analytic), but it is unable to produce a new one. This is how the idea of “synthesis a priori” comes to emerge. This kind of thought is known as transcendental philosophy.

Divorce cases in Aceh post conflict and disaster is increasing significantly. Among the generating factors are conflict and Tsunami, the change of family system, and the growth of inhabitants and modernisation. The lack of knowledge and consciousness about foster home are not the roots or main factors contributing to the increasing trend. But it is more to autonomy economically, education, maturity and adult emotionally, and capability in keeping relationship with kinship and extended family. Therefore, cross-sectoral cooperation in government and community are required to decrease the divorce trend in Aceh.

Etos kerja menggambarkan segi-segi etos kerja yang baik pada manusia, bersumber dari kualitas diri, diwujudkan berdasarkan tata nilai sebagai etos kerja yang diimplementasikan dalam aktivitas kerja. Ajaran Islam sangat mendorong umatnya untuk bekerja keras, dan bahwa ajaran Islam memuat spirit dan dorongan pada tumbuhnya budaya dan etos kerja yang tinggi. Kalau pada tataran praktis, umat Islam seolah-olah beretos kerja rendah, maka bukan sistem teologi yang harus dirombak, melainkan harus diupayakan bagaimana cara dan metode untuk memberikan pengertian dan pemahaman yang benar mengenai watak dan karakter esensial dari ajaran Islam yang sesungguhnya. Etos kerja dalam Islam terkait erat dengan nilai-nilai (values) yang terkandung dalam al-Qur‟an dan al-Sunnah tentang “kerja” – yang dijadikan sumber inspirasi dan motivasi oleh setiap Muslim untuk melakukan aktivitas kerja di berbagai bidang kehidupan. Cara mereka memahami, menghayati dan mengamalkan nilai-nilai al-Qur‟an dan al-Sunnah tentang dorongan untuk bekerja itulah yang membentuk etos kerja Islam.

asically human being poses intelligence as a device to think in order to achieve their purposes in life whether personal, group, or communal purposes. To think without a depth and serious process is known as “ logical naturalist”. It means that one thinks in a very simple and natural ways. When intelligence contemplates a complex problem, it is called “logical artificial” that uses tight logical procedure and logical science or is known in Islam as “Mantiq”. One of fundamental differentiation between human being from animal is that the ratio potential (natiq). The ratio activities on the subject, understanding written or spoken word (lafaz), defining, proposing, opposing, sampling or analogy, forming and syllogism result to a true and precise conclusion.

Phobia and prejudice toward Islam in America and Europe are contributed by a small particular group that name their violence and movement on behalf of Islam. In fact, Islam is a religion that calls for peace and harmony. But these impressions are still inadequate to purify the image of Islam. It requires to systematic effort to show that the truth teaching of Islam that guarantees and supports the universal values of mankind to life in peace and harmony. Fethullah Gulen, who is scholar, a preacher, a sufi, a teacher and is a Muslim activist from Turkey, is one of scholars and actors how has done this mission. Currently, Gulen has tens million followers from around the world that bring about to become one of the most influential person in contemporary Muslim world. This papers seeks to see the basic and model of religious social movement that are done by Fethullah Gulen in his campaign in cosmopolitan society. The campaign strongly states that Islam is very relevant to modern life. The papers specifically answers three fundamental questions; how does Gulen interpret scare texts of Islamic teaching? Michen Foucault is a philosopher who also speaks about art. He explains about the essential of disciplining body. He argues that disciplining body is very an important art for human life. A modern individual is a discipline one, in which body is the most essential in the process. A discipline body will result responsible and dutiful individual. Discipline is doing all obligations based on his own will. It is not a forcing obligation from outsider. The development of mastery on one’s own body is a historical momentum where art training human body was introduced.

This papers describes a very general view on Tauhid in the Islamic mystical thought. The ulama from the Sufis group, like other group of ulama, intends to purify the Oneness concept of Allah. That is how such course becomes a very serious theme in their discussion. Some of the thoughts somehow contradict with their own expression and explanation, however they go to the same conclusion about Allah in relation with the unity of existence. Their discussion is around the truth of creator and the creation. This papers aims to discuss the Sufis thought in order the complexity could become clearer and the thought can be easily understood.
